Steven. ... thanks for the explanation about why Kalmbach prefers pictures be posted from photo hosting sites. Makes sense.
everybody. ... Canada is fine with me for our July location. I have been on the Rocky Mountaneer. I have traveled on other trains in Canada. I worked for Canadian National for about 20 years. I like Canada and Canadians .

FRRYKidGiven that this year is the 150th Anniversary of Canada, I was going to suggest that we put it somewhere in Canada.
Being Canadian, I rather like that idea! How about putting the Diner aboard The Rocky Mountaineer? Make sure you scroll down to see the details of the trip:

Most of us can only dream about taking a luxury train through the Canadian Rockies. The Diner would make the price just right!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Steven Otte I'm not qualified to move the Diner, but I have a suggestion. Since next week is Independence Day in the U.S., why not Philadelphia?

Given that this year is the 150th Anniversary of Canada, I was going to suggest that we put it somewhere in Canada. Maybe as a compromise someone can find a well known place that has rail connections to both. Just my two cents.
Good evening all.
Chloe - A RBF Please. Thanks.
Ken - Glad you beat my measily sales today! I did double my total, to right around $80.00 before close.... still a lousy day though!
Ulrich - If I didn't have a busy morning, I would volunteer to do the move, but I will not be able to this month.... Any one "step back" for you though?
Photo Hosting - I am switching to Flickr, as I got a couple pics to show in the thread on photo hosting sites... The only 2 in my album so far! It is a little more work to post, as they put a bunch of "stuff" in the link, but I figured it out, at least from my PC... Tablet posting will be my next test...
Weather - Hot and Humid. Also a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for my area... Good thing I never have any flooding here! We are expecting a lot of rain though....
W*^k - SLOW...... Our whole store barely broke $100 today....
Trains - Nothing new on that front today.
Hope all have a good night, and see you all in Philly!

Hey gang! So back home a little early, but his mom got really sick so we figured we'd come on back. It's probably a good thing, too, because now he's sick and throwing up.

Heartland Division CB&Q Steven .... Philadelphia is a good idea. It would be good to see PRR electrics such as GG1's ..... Regarding photo hosting websites, why doesn't the MR Forum allow members to download directly from their computers? Another model railroad forum allows that.

Two reasons. First of all, we don't make any money off the Forums, so we don't want to have to buy a bunch of servers to host the photos on. Photos take up a lot more MB than plain text. Look back over the years this Forum has been around and you can imagine how much space this Forum would take if we hosted photos. Secondly, we don't want to be liable for whatever photos someone might want to post here: copyrighted material, inappropriate material, whatever. We don't have the staff time to police it all, so we'd rather it all be hosted elsewhere.

Ray, Angel and YGW ... Thanks for your concern about my friend, Dan.
Afternoon folks!
New sound equipment for the waterfront at camp came inyesterday evening, so after my hearing appointment and lunch I drove back out to Boy Scout camp to deliver it to the Aquatic Director with some instructions for him as well...
yougottawantaHOWMUS - What is clipping ? Do not understand your description.
Simple answer pertaining to amplifiers (from Wikipedia): "Clipping is a form of waveform distortion that occurs when an amplifier is overdriven and attempts to deliver an output voltage or current beyond its maximum capability. Driving an amplifier into clipping may cause it to output power in excess of its power rating."
Actually clipping can occur anywhere along the various elements in the path of the signal. Clipping can cause damage to both amps and speakers. The grunge sound used with electric guitars uses clipping of the signal early in the path to create the distorted sound. At worst it clips off the top and bottom of the waveform and by overdriving the speakers can cause permanent damage. Generally you want to avoid doing that at the level of the amp and the speakers. I did live sound for the last 18 years of my career.
Garry, know that Dan is in my prayers as well as you during this time.
Thunderstorms have been forecast all day here in the Finger Lakes Region, but except for on and off rainy periods no Booming and Flashes yet.
Had my hearing test this morning and the good news is that there has been little to no new loss of hearing. The bad news is that I am still deaf! I signed on the dotted line for a new pair to the tune of $6,262. He is looking at a few options for them but the final p[rice will be the same. These will be the top of the line for suppressing noise which is one of the problems I have with hearing aids (p[articularly at the RR Museum). These may be bluetooth equiped. Says most of the new ones are. That way I could turn on my iTunes at meetings and completely tune out the meeting without anyone knowing... Hmmmmmmm.....
Have a good rest of the day. I need to get busy on a dozen or so items I have not gotten too that should have been done a week ago, at least!

Where does this old man find these sticky notes you mentioned.

The "sticky" is on the forums main page, {EDIT: I should say the "General Discussions" page} at the top, always "stuck" above the other topics.
YGW - The owner is cool. One of the nicest boss's I've had in retail.
I will check back later after I'm done guarding the store.... I have been here since 1030, go till 1900 (AKA 7pm) and have not even sold $50 yet...
Yep. I'm getting bored!

Afternoon Diners,
I read about your conserves for Photobucket. I wondered about myself too. They said for paying members right? If that's the case I don't have to worry because I'm not a paying member. If it's for everyone than yeah I can't pay for price. I can delete photos on conversations within a month or so.
ROR- good luck finding a new job.
Brent- Sorry about your car, I hope getting a new isn't going to be a pain.
Garry- Best wishes for your friend Dan in ICU.
My next door neighbor Robert went to the hospital two days. He was sent to the VA hospital. His condition was not medically worded by falling down to much. I helped him up two years ago in the front yard when he pulling weeds luckily his wife was outside too.

Lunch time !!!!
Flo - MOH has me on a stinking diet !! SHE EVEN TOOK AWAY THE FLAVORED CARDBOARD crackers !!! Can I please have a VERY LARGE T bone steak, baked potato with butter ooozzzzing out, sour cream, salt and pepper, chiveS, That warm bread that Melts in your mouth, three ears of corn, FRIED okra...I am STARVING !
Hobby barn news - The underground utility VP stopped by today He may have a crew available Monday and he may be able to install my conduit from the power source to the Hobby Barn Monday !!! How awesome would that be !!! I also picked up paint prep material today so this weekend I can continue the paint prep.
Garry - Glad you made it back safe. How is Dans spirits ? Down or Up ? Been for you and him.
Steve - I think that is an excellant choice. Why would you think you cant move the diner ? Speaking only for myself I dont have an issue with it.
Maxman - What is the load in the cars ?
Yannis - Howdy ! Thanks so much for the cold one ! It is hot as you know what here !
Randy - LOL ! Closet MRR ? What engine do you run on your 80s layout ?
Dave - Touch wood ? Never heard that one. We use "knock on wood" here. I have no idea what either one refers to ? Do you ?
JaBear - ROTFL, LOL !!! On the lion menu ! Thanks I enjoyed that one.
Brent - Word of advice for sweaty smelling vehicles tainted by teen boys - Fabreez - buy it by the gallon ! Is the car worth repairing ?
Ricky W. - What is the owner like ? Good guy ?
Ken - Understand. I could leave my job and make 30% more BUT I am wore out and do not feel like working for national builders who throw up junk in 90 days, treat owners liek junk, worried about squeezing a knickel out of every sub, work you until there is nothing left and then toss you on the trash pile with the last 500 people they wore out. Heck with that !
ROR - That stinks starting over. What about changing locations ? Around here there is a TERRIBLE shortage in workers. The add for a plumber that is running in our local paper with a $5000 sign on bonus STILL HAS NOT been filled ! And that is not only in our industry.
HOWMUS - What is clipping ? Do not understand your description.
Gotta git back to w**k.

Randy. Welcome to the Diner.
Everybody... We returned from the trip last night. It was a very busy two days .
i was able to visit my model train friend, Dan, in the hospital in Lexington on Wednesday . He was still in ICU and he hoped to be moved into a regular room in a day or so. I left him thinking he would continue to improve. Last evening I heard from Dan's wife, and she said he had a set back and would remain in ICU. I was sad to hear that.
After Lexingtom, I went to Cincinnati. My wife had arrived in Cincinnati from Michigan shortly before I got there. Yesterday we went to Louisville and after that we went home .
Have a good Friday
maxmanWell, I guess I must be doing something differently because I just copied the above from Photobucket IMG and pasted here. Maybe they just didn't get to my end of the alphabet yet?
Yesterday, I thought the same.
Don´t worry, they will be "asking" you as well!
Who is going to move the Diner to the July location?
Volunteers, one step back!

It is indeed a sad day for a number of hobby forums, which rely on the users posting pictures of their work.
While there are alternative sites available, hardly anbody will go through the pain od uploading 1,00+ images to the new site. The forums will lose nearly all their history.
Thanks, Steven, for your quick updated on the sticky post!
Rich,
I did not receive any notification from them, either. I just found out by looking at an old thread of mine. Instead of the picture, all I saw was a kind of speedometer with a message to go to their page.
There is no way I am going to support their fraudulent action to extort money from me. This is blackmail, nothing else.
Photobucket can be proud of having made a number of forums obsolete.
Sir Madog Good Morning! Shocking news this morning! Photobucket has suspended all services of what they call "3rd party hosting", unless you pay $400 a year! I am now looking for a new place free of charge to host my pictures.

Way!
Incredible. Photobucket has done just what you said. Pay up or get suspended. No more embedding images from Photobucket onto the forum.
I checked some recent threads and they are littered with the Photobucket notice.
Oh my! Now what?
Rich
Edit Note: Although my privileges have apparently been suspended, I have received no notification whatsoever from Photobucket. Nice..........not.

Hi all!
Heatwave here during the last few days (40C +). Spent some time building up something similar to a perforated storage board for my tools hoping to tidy up my benchwork.
Flo, cold drinks for everyone please!
Randy welcome to the forum!
Just another wet day today
, Randy!
All - Thank you for the welcoming and greetings.
Henry – Thank you for suggesting imgru, I have opened an account and it seems to work better than photobucket. All the ads on the free photobucket were giving my old laptop some issues.
YGW, howmus 73 – You asked me to share a little about myself and my hobby interests, so here it goes…..
Randy
JaBear:
All I'm getting in your last post it the 'speedometer' image.
So far I'm not having any trouble with Photobucket, touch wood.
Hey Brent:
Too bad about the hockeymobile. At least you got home OK.
Our 2002 Odyssey bit the dust after the fan blade disintegrated while my son was on a major highway. It was not a good place to stop so he drove to the next off ramp. Unfortunately the fan blade had taken out the radiator so just as he got off the highway the engine seized. I made the mistake of having the rad and the fan replaced, only to discover that the head gasket was blown. The rad and fan cost almost $2000, and the engine rebuild would have been another $3000 - $4000. I should have scrapped the thing before I repaired the cooling system. Lesson learned! Hint, hint.
That is a great venue!
Good luck with the Mazda.
Cheers, the Bear.

Frrykid - What if you primed it fiirst with grey or white ? Would the silver cover better ?
Same idea as painting it with the white. As I suspected the extra coat gave the coverage that was needed. I do need to hit the bottom sill of the caboose with a quick coat. I think I missed that part with the second coat. It should be ready to decal hopefully on Monday.
