Thought I would stop by for a cup of tea and maybe a slice of toast with jelly. Went railfaning this morning and seen 4 trains in a hour and a half. The rest of the day will be donated to cleaning house. I checked the C&TS camera and will report there is smoke over Chama.

Howdy eveyone ! Missed lunch w**ked right throught it !
Ulrich - Hope your day today is better than yesterday. I watched yesterdays videos. The one engine, until I saw the subtitles, I thought I was watching train run through some place in the American west ! I didnt know Buster Keaton lived long enough to do color pictures ! Man that scooter runs pretty fast. I was surprised at the speed !
Henry - Those red foxes ?
Ken - Sorry about your dog. That is tough.
Yannis - thank you. I will say this, 1to1 is MUCH harder to build than 1/160 ! At the very least it is much heavier.
Angel - How in the world did they break a brick fence ? Run into with crash helmuts on ?
Johnboy - It took 14 months ? YOH must be very patient ! When we sell a spec unit and the prospective HO wants a bath we can install one in about ten days. What caused you to drag your feet on it ? Supply problems ? Time ?
Mr. B - HoW is your knee feeling today ? Is your BP going down ?
Dave - That is tough. I cannot imagine having to live next to that all day long. I hate it when a car pulls up beside me and all I can hear is the THUMPING of RAP music. I want to put Hillbilly music in a bull horn and point it in their direction....I wonder how they would like that ?! Peopel are so Rude sometimeS !
Jimmy - How is the apartment hunt going ?
Lion - How are you doing today ?
Howmus - Did you all have a NMRA meet weekend before last ?
History qoute of the day :
A penny saved is twopence clear.
Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack, 1737
All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of superintending providence in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?.....is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid?"
Benjamin Franklin, To Colleagues at the Constitutional Convention
Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
Benjamin Franklin, Advice to a Young Tradesman, 1748
I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.

Ken,
Sorry to hear about Sparkie, they do fill a void in our lives with unfailing affection. I still miss all of mine that have passed over.
Jan
They are red foxes. I've heard there were 4 kits. I captured these on a game camera, I have only seen mom or dad in person. Some years they are quite domesticated. I'm sure they get handouts from the neighbors. They also do pretty well with birds mice and squirrels.
Their coats are prettier than the pic now, but they get the mange (which is like scabies in people) and lose nearly all their fur by the end of the summer. That doesn't bode well for the winter.
They live in...a foxhole of all things about 100 yards from my house. The camera captures them all hours of the day and night so they must not sleep for very long.
They are not very street smart as far as cars go. Judging by their markings, they don't seem to live in the wild longer than about 3 years.

The news for the week in the ROR home is that I am back to beeing "retired." The new job did not work out as planned. I was under the impression they were looking for a "farmer," but they changed their tune and decided they wanted a "hunter." I have never been a hunter and have no desire to become one. The good news is that I may already have a lead on a new job that plays more to my strengths. In the meantime I am eligible for the "rule of 55" so I have unfettered access to my 401(k) without an early withdrawal penalty. It sucks to have the job implode, but we are letting it get us down.

yougottawantaMr. B - HoW is your knee feeling today ? Is your BP going down ?
Yes, thank you, the blood pressure has come down. The BP monitor I bought at CVS seems very inaccurate and is probably telling me I'm worse than I really am. I think most of the issue was from medications, not me.
The knee is better. My hockey game is improving, and that's probably the best evidence.

im drove to Wisconsin today for three days of computer stuff.

Well, welcome to Wisconsin Lion! I leave my cell phone laying around alot. Some times it might spend a day or two in my truck. I'm NOT attached to it like sooooooo many others, with it always in their face. Besides, mine is a flip phone! I use it to make, and recieve calls, just what a phone is suppose to do. It is unbelievable how many people I see, out and about, in stores, on the street, and in their vehicles, with their cell phone glued to their face, or is it their face glued to a cell phone? Even people out walking, for their daily and evening excercise. I'm guessing the millennials, and younger, along with a few of the older generation, (parents of millennials) can't live without them.

Sort of a Job Front. Again it was Slooooooooow. In 9 hours I sold a whole $80.00?
Sparkie The Rocket Dog. This morning he would not eat either his canned dog for or dry food. So he did not get any of his meds. Wife called the American Eskmo Rescue (Sandy) and was balling her eyes out. Seems most rescue dog she get's is because people won't or cannot pay there Vet bill's. She all so called our Vet Said the most importand med's to get him to take was for his stomach.
Around 2:00 PM Sparkie came to my wife while she was eating and took a small pice of cheese. Sue got a little more cheese and wrapped the stomach pills in them, and he ate them! At his normal dinner time he started bugging my wife and ate his dry dog food quickley! Then wanted more.
Vet, Sandy and my wife think it was the new Liver Med he just started Friday. He will not get any more to see how he does. Tonight when I got home, seemed more like is old self!
Train Front Still swearing about ATF on the rails! Started running the Team Track / Passing Spur I had not ran for 3 weeks. Again not a single hick up with the picky PK 2000 SD 7 Bessemer! I am becoming a fan of the Bachmann Sound Value Satna Fe F7A's!
I have had better days, but far from the worst day I have had!

Good Morning!
It´s going to be a wet day - it is already drizzling lightly as I am typing up this post. I don´t mind - I have no specific plans for the day and will just drift along.
Today, Ulrich´s Train Movie Theater will take you to the Spain of the 1960´s, when the country still has lots of little steam operated narrow gauge lines. Filming and photographing trains in the then fascist rules country was quite difficult and could have earned you a prison sentence for espionage, so the footage, taken by a band of brave-hearted Brits, is a rare gem.
Enjoy the trip back in time into a world nearly lost, as most of the lines do not exist any longer.
Ken - I am sorry to hear about Sparkie ailing!
Oy.
It seems like whatever problem the Forum software was having with e-mail notifications has been fixed... 'cause just this morning I got about two dozen notifications from people who have been complaining for days about some guy who they don't like on the DCC Forum. I just love starting my morning cleaning up a flame war.
So I need some comfort food to calm my nerves. What's the breakfast special today, Chlöe?
OK, that does sound good... just don't make it runny, OK? I like my oatmeal thick enough to stand the spoon in it. And a large OJ, thanks.
--Steven Otte, Model Railroader senior associate editorsotte@kalmbach.com
Looks like the muesli I usually have for breakfast, Steven! Quite healthy!
It´s been ra*ning here since early this morning.Add to that a slowly rising temperature and you get a certain feeling for what folks in India go through when the monsoon season starts. I tried to shake it all off with a nap after lunch, but that little pest down below started to stomp around like a herd of elephants, while his dim-whitted mom started to yell at him.
Murder, he thought ...
Steven Otte OK, that does sound good... just don't make it runny, OK? I like my oatmeal thick enough to stand the spoon in it. And a large OJ, thanks.
So do I. Thin and runny oatmeal is called gruel; that stuff Dickens was always on about.

That´s a no thank you for me, too! I have bad memories on that stuff. In my childhood days, I was force fed with it when I was ill. The thought of it makes me sick again!

I'll have oatmeal and OJ, please.
Ulrich ... Thanks for posting the videos.
I am still working on my bridge project when I have model railroading time. I hope to do more later today.
The email notification thing does not bother me because I don't want any notifications cluttering up my email account.

Every year my wife and I attend a jewelry show in Madison, Wis. We stay at a nearby hotel that offers free breakfast. Most of it is passable, but the oatmeal is made by someone who clearly has not had the concept of oatmeal explained to them. It's not just runny, it's more liquid than solid. It's like oat soup. It's more or less gray oat-flavored water.
Morning diners,
YGW- He ran his motorcycle into it. I'm not should how it did it. After it was fixed you can still see the hole impact in the backyard.
Dave- I don't carry my cellphone a lot either. If you got a laptop or tablet there's no point.
Ken- I'm glad your dog is feeling better with his liver pills.
Since Trainworx announced their Vintage Tank Trucks I purchased two Classic Metal Works 1957 tank trucks in Sunoco and Phillips 66. But my dad was wondering why I didn't want Sinclair with the little dinosaur. Although yes Sinclair and Phillips are in Nebraska I picked the most numbers of gas station available. Both my parents like the orange and blue Phillips 66 style intend of all green.
I like my oatmeal in between that's not watery nor to dry and clumpy.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
I carry my cell phone all the time. I used to just have a flip phone, but AT&T eliminated service for all those old phones. They gave me a free smart phone at no extra cost. Mostly, I just use it to, well, make phone calls. If I'm taking an exercise walk, I don't need to check hockey scores or whatever. I use it for weather if I'm out of town, or for directions, but e-mail and general browsing are left to my desktop and tablet if I'm away. I still have a land line phone, but I never answer it because it's always a junk call.
Ken, I hope the vet is right about those new medications, and Sparkie will be back to his old self in a few days.
Speaking of computers, Microsoft actually has a patch for that Wanna Cry virus for Windows XP, even though officially XP is not supported. I installed it on my machine. It was a painless effort.
Evening all
W**ked through lunch today...very busy...
Hobby barn news - Neighber brought over his box grader and spead the two truck loads of structural fill and moved my gravel to the front of the garage doors. Now I will not be tracking mud in !!!
Angel wrote " He ran his motorcycle into it." - Oh my gosh ! Usually vehicles do not fair well when running into brick walls ! How fast was the moron going when he hit it ? Did he survive ? He had to be going fast to punch a hole in the wall ! Geezz !!!
Steve - Sorry your day started off rough - I am with Ulrich ! If you want it I will mail you my Oatmeal my wife bought me - I will NOT touch the stuff. Its like slimy oysters and I refuse to get that near me either ! - YUCK !
Ulrich - I agree I have no idea why oatmeal even exist !
Mr. B - Glad to hear you are doing better
Lion - : ) Glad you are back with us !
ROR - What ? Farmer ? Hunter ? What is rule 55 ?

History qoute of the day:
From the earliest ages of history to the present day there have never been thirteen millions of people associated in one political body who enjoyed so much freedom and happiness as the people of these United States. You have no longer any cause to fear dangers from abroad ... It is from within, among yourselves - from cupidity, from corruption, from disappointed ambition and inordinate thirst for power - that factions will be formed and liberty endangered ...
Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right, but it takes a slightly better man to acknowledge instantly and without reservation that he is in error.
But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing.
Afternoon folks!
Janie I'll hold off on Dinner for a couple more hours I think. Still filled from the nice bowl of Oatmeal I had for breakfast. Thanks Steven! What? Oh I love a good bowl of oatmeal, properly made..... Especially with fresh friut and cream.
yougottawanta Howmus - Did you all have a NMRA meet weekend before last ?
Nope....
I think I have all the ducks in a row for the MLK Scholarship Dinner tomorrow evening. Finally got in touch with the AV guy over at the college and set a time to get together with him to set up sound, mics, and the projectors for the slideshow tomorrow. I have the certificates in frames, the programs completed and packed. The college food services always puts on a great meal(s) for us. The choice is once again, Prime Rib, Chicken French, and an Asian Vegetable Stir Fry (for the Vegetarians in the crowd). I'll be enjoying a medium rare Prime Rib Dinner. This is always a great event, and I am honored to be a major player in the behind the scenes goings on.
Sun is trying to shine out there, so I may finish up the lawn before dinner....
Catch you all later!

For not feeling good today I got a lot done. Woke up and ddid not feel good, not sick, just not good. Ate breakfest, 2 eggs and some hash browns and laied down. Could not fall a sleep but rested. Around 11:00 AM got up and did a little running. Went to the library and to the Vet to get Sparkie The Rocket Dog some more meds and speical dog food. I swear this 18 pound dog cost me more to feed than Sonya, my 185 pound Wolfhound!
When I got home my hands where shaking. All most dropped the food I was going to nuke. Ate a little and felt a tad better for about 15 minutes, then started to feel bad again. Had some sugar soda and went at it.
Got the sideyard and frontyard cut. Wife kept saying it was so tall she could not walk! I could hardly tell where I had all ready cut for the next pass? She does not want grass, she wants Out Door Carpet to walk on!
Yard Wars Got the rearyard around the inground pool weed wacked. I hope who ever invented the weed wacker made millions! Found the Hated Wild Grape Vines are trying to make a come back! Not this time around! Weed wacked them then used ny version of agent orange. Round Up Posion Ivey Killer. If that does not work, I will break out the real nasty stuff!

You have to save the file, close the browser, go to your downloads and run the file. It takes a couple of minutes to install. Then you have to restart your computer.
A lot of stuff to comment on I see. (That's what I get for not stoping in lately.)
Cell Phone: I have a pre-paid smart phone. I use it more as a music player than I do a phone. (The only reason I have the smart phone is that the site where I get my weather alerts switched from communicating by SMS [text message] to MMS [which required the smart phone.)
Cutting grass: The last two weeks I have been using the ranch's new DR mower/trimmer to get the weeds in the yard cut. I think it will probably another two before I get everything trimmed. The section left is not small and the grass is quite thick.
Hobby Front: Got two more cars taken to the layout. Very simple redos. Changing the number on one caboose to its BN number (posted earlier this month.) and the second is a NP 60' boxcar updated with the ACI label and changing the reweigh date to match a prototype. Another fairly simple job. Also brought a "Q" waycar home to change its number to its BN number. Hopefully that should be a quick process. If everything goes right, I should have yet another caboose for my growing collectioon. Another one that will end up being renumbered.
Oatmeal is best thick, like putty, does a excellent job sealing the joints on the still.

Good Afternoon!
Flo, coffee in an IV bag, please and I wouldn´t mind a slice of that Schwarzwaelder Kirschtorte with it.
Unfortunately, goodies like it are off the list for me these days! I had a bad night, with the pain keeping me from sleeping and no other pain med in the house than Ibuprofen, which is off the list as well.
Today´s video feature in Ulrich´s Train Movie Theatre is
The Hills Are Alive
not with the sound of music, but the sound of steam echoing from the mountains of Tyrolia/Austria!
The video takes us to Jenbach, a small a municipality in the district of Schwaz in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Jenbach is situated on the mainline between Innsbruck and Kufstein at the border to Germany. Jenbach is also home to two narrow gauge lines, the Achensee Railway and the Zillertal Railway.
The Achensee Railway (German: Achenseebahn) is a 6.78 kilometres (4.21 mi) long metre gauge railway running between Jenbach and Seespitz on Lake Achensee in Tyrol (Austria). Within its length it rises some 440 metres (1,444 ft) in height, with the steeper sections using the Riggenbach rack system. It is Europe's oldest cog railway which is still steam operated.
The Zillertal Railway or Zillertalbahn is a 760 mm (2 ft 5 15⁄16 in) gauge independent railway running along the valley of the river Ziller (Zillertal) from Jenbach to Mayrhofen within the Tyrol area of Austria and is nearly 32 km long. The Zillertal Railway is a modern rail carrier on narrow tracks, but also runs steam specials on a regular schedule.
Enjoy!
LION is in Wsconsin for some computer training... firewalls ewe know.
Rice Lake, some tornados touched down near here last night, took out a moble home park. My but those things have an affinity for tornados. At least one death, sorry to say, whole trailer park flattened, so many homeless in tghe rain.
Nine hour drive from western ND, will go back home on Friday.
Morning all
Coffee and Donuts on me. If you want Oatmeal I will even pony up on that. Just will not partake.
Lion - Glad you are back ! Also Gald you were not in the trailer park too !
Ulrich - Yummy is it okay to have cake for breakfast ?
FRRYKid - You have a DR Mower ? How do you like ? Do you have the attachment that goes on the back of tractor ?
Ken - Did you have low sugar ? Are you oaky now ?
Steve - Morning, Hope you dont have any flame wars to put out today.
Howmus - ???I thought the NMRA met the same time across the country. Are you all on a different schedule ? Howmus your qoute goes along with another theme of servanthood. The theme being if you are to be first then you must be last...
The Constitution of the United States was created by the people of the United States composing the respective states, who alone had the right.
The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.
The diversity in the faculties of men, from which the rights of property originate, is not less an insuperable obstacle to an uniformity of interests. The protection of these faculties is the first object of government.
The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.
The loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or imagined, from abroad.
The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home.
The proposed Constitution is, in strictness, neither a national nor a federal constitution; but a composition of both.
All James Madison
Gotta git back to w**k
yougottawantais it okay to have cake for breakfast ?
If you want to have a "happy" start into the day, well then certainly yes! That cake is loaded with Kirschwasser.
yougottawanta FRRYKid - You have a DR Mower ? How do you like ? Do you have the attachment that goes on the back of tractor ?
This is a walk behind mower not the kind that goes on a tractor. It is an interesting animal and the weeds in spots are proving to be a challenge.
Ulrich
If they make a non alchol versian please slice me a piece ! That cake sure looks good !
FRRYKid - I looked into buying one of the DR walk behinds but I found two problems. The most important one is the cost of the replacement string. Home Despot is supposed to carry it but they do not and the online stores wanted $90 ! for the string. Did you find string elsewhere cheaper ?
