Evenin'!

Janie, just need a pot of decaf to tide me over to bedtime please....

We got about 3" of fluffy white stuiff here in the Finger Lakes over the last couple days.  Just enough to make everything look nice but not enough to require shoveling out the driveway....

Spring has arrived very, very early here this year.  Heard some Maple farmers have already tapped trees for sap.  That usually happens in mid march.  I looked out the window at breakfast today and the were 6 pairs of robins gleening the berries off the flowering quince tree along with a pair of what I think are Downy woodpeckers.  Now all of those may be just ones that stayed over the winter.  Robins have started doing that several years back, but I was very surprised to see them out there.  Also had a couple sparrows and 3 crows hoping to pick off one or two of the smaller birds.  The robins were watching them carefully!  Been in the 20's here for the last few days, but will be warming up to the high 30's tomorrow.

I spent the last two afternoons at church finishing the wiring for the new speakers in the Narthex.  Had to solder XLR connectors to microphone/line out wires feeding the speakers.  These are powered speakers which seem to be the norm for a lot of installations (and home use) today.  Only problem is that we had to also put in electrical outlets from the main box with the amps and other equipment out to where each speaker sits.  That was real pain for the electrician who got to do that.  Also printed out this years MLK scholarship applications and took them to the High School.

Tomorrow will be "Clean the House Day"...  (Haven't vacumed since Thanksgioving here...  Yep it needs some cleaning!

It amazes me the risks some folks take for “the perfect selfie. Real Darwin Award material!

Yep!  And somehow it always seems to be the trains fault in many peoples minds.....

Have a good one, and prayers for all those in need!

 Evening Diners

Flo, Ed will have a Royal Crown and I will have a Beer please

Ed I swear the smart phones are sucking the brains out of people! Very sad. Iam not sure who to feel the most sorry for, the enginer or the 13 year old that lived. Sigh

Work Front Had a darn good day today with $2600.00 in sales and this company needs every penny it can get! With the lack of sales I wonder how much longer it can keep going. Sigh

YGW My car was done before I got off today. Been using Bob for years so he left the keys in the car where I could find them. I will pay him next week when I am off. Grabbed the keys (left the car at Bob's) but I did take it for a short test drive. Still goes in forward just a tad slow, maybe 1.5 seconds but far better than it had been. Car has 192,437 miles on it so I am happy it still moves!

Gary So I am not the only person that has a Mighty CB&Q ABA? Surprise

Train Front Layout has it MoJo back! Big Smile Yes  All of the Might F's and Bessemers SD 7's are running great!

 Bow To a friend.

Good evening all.

Chloe - A slice of apple pie, with a couple of scoops of ice cream, please. Thanks!

YGW - That commission is above and beyond my regular hourly salary. I actually have enough to pay bills off just hourly alone. For $150 commission and spiff, I would need a couple of leases, a couple of 5 year protection agreements, combined together, plus a couple thousand in sales, on a store card if not on a lease. When the DM runs contests, it is easier, but it would still take a really busy sales day, or hitting the right things. Our current high-paying spiff is a $500 or above lease, with a protection agreement. I make much more on them, than sales commission. But my boss and DM would be more than pleased to pay the $150 in commission if I hit that much, as I would have been "setting the world on fire" sales wise!

And, least I forget again, the "sell a dime for a nickel" is a play on the old adage on a "plug nickel". I just use a real nickel as my boss would really not like my accepting a plug nickel... Wink

Ken - Hoping that the cars lube and filter job fixed it! I hate transmission issues... Almost as much as I hate the way you need to change the alternator on my current car... Let's just say it involves dropping the front axle, as well as a few other things....

Train front - Well, the "gift box" has some nice things in it. Give them a clean and lube job, and they will run pretty good! (Tested and all run, {save for the steamer, but that will be checked out further later, when I have more time.} sporadically, but run. Once cleaned and lubed up should be great!) I'm thinking of passing one on to a friends' son, who is 10, who is big into trains. If I can find him my old E-Z track, he will be getting a nice little gift, and his Mom will get a nudge, in the greatest hobby direction.

Again, whomever you are, a BIG THANK YOU! is in order.

Well, I guess I will head off to bed now, good night everyone.

Again..... should I????? Mischief

Good evening, Fellow Diners,

Maybe it's time for a nightcap, Flo. I'll have some of that Crown Royal Ken has been putting on his tab, maybe mixed with a little soda water. Yes, that's the ticket...

BigDaddy
Ed how horrific and stupid to be killed taking a selfie.

So sad— So true. I guess standing near moving trains is a popular one.

Who was that athlete killed in California last year, jogging down the middle of the tracks while someone else was filming him? A college football player in another case... the dad blamed Union Pacific for running their train on the wrong set of tracks. (The kid was running on the westbound side and an eastbound ran him over)  —it goes on.

cudaken
Ed I swear the smart phones are sucking the brains out of people! Very sad. Iam not sure who to feel the most sorry for, the enginer or the 13 year old that lived.

The thirteen-year-old died a few days later Sigh. Several of my friends are engineers and have related many stories like this. Many are never reported by the media.

It looks like "smartphones" have been a problem for many years!

She's texting while strolling. That looks like a Galaxy S7 in her hands?

I could go on and on about mindless tragedies that happen on or near the tracks. Many leave you scratching your head and saying... "What were they thinking???" or, well, obviously n-o-t thinking.

Anyway—

Lost parts in the carpet! Ha, the best soultion I have found is a cordless, new-age, Dustbuster that has the clear plastic dust bin. You can empty it out onto a flat surface and sort through the goodies. Sometimes you get lucky...

Last night I put together an old Proto 2000 50 foot boxcar, just for something to do that didn't require too much concentration.

Three times a grab iron, stirrup step and roof walk bracket went flying off the tweezers—AND—all three times I found the parts with only a few moments searching!

Yes, KEN the layout gods are happy! Glad you have better luck with your mighty F units.

There's a full "Snow" moon tonight and with a light dusting of snow it looks almost like daylight out there Indifferent !

Best wishes to all...

Regards, Ed

Morning

Today's thought:

What for centuries raised man above the beast is not the cudgel but the irresistible power of unarmed truth. -Boris Pasternak, poet and novelist (10 Feb 1890-1960)

well, we got more snow yesterday, but not much of what they were reporting for last night. Goood.

Today we MAY see some sundshine.

RAY: No sings of spring here, but we are buried under snow. It's not so cold, but covered in snow. I was thinking the fleurs may start to bloom during 2 recent weeks of 40s and higher temps but not so. so, begrudgingly I will let winter continue. It so gives me pleasure in mid-march to look forward to the sprunging of spring. MOH's B-day is mid APril, definitely a sign of spring.

Of course, that said, I had about 35 indoor plants going well. I ahve 7 daylight plant lights to help em grow in the bonus room. I have strawberrry seeds going, sunflower seeds going and daisies seeds going as well as leaf lettuce. My herbs kinda didn't make it, but can't have everything I guess. Music "...and I'll give you a Daisy a day"Music Speakign of which, it's about time to brighten their day adn turn on the lamps.

I AM anxious to see what does germinate this spring. Several bulbs of tulips, snowbells, and two other kinds I can't remember now were planted in front of the hardy Hibiscuses.{or is that hibisci?} that were plantred last fall.. Also 2 kinds of bulbs plnated around the weeping cherry. I have spring flower seeds to scatter when the bulbs are done to see if htey will germinate in their place. I hope all come up well adn bloom and blossom well.

The previous tenants apparently planted daffodils all around the perimiter of the house, so we will see if htey come up again.

I have star of Bethlehem bubls thta arrived too late to plant in the fall to plant in the spring, May not bloom this year, but maybe next year. They will go next to the garage.

Want to get a dwarf type forsythia to palnt next to the garage also as it blooms early. I like early blooming things as when they start, it means spring is sprunging or has sprung! Forget the groundhog!

Well I have some early runnings to do.

Have a great day!

Duke ! ! ! ! .... Good to see you !

Ray .... I admire your willingness to volunteer your time to your community. Now it is wiring speakers for the church and I know it is always something you are doing for Boy Scouts, MLK scolarships, RR museum, etc. .... You are a good man.

Ricky .... The "gift box" sounds fun.

Ed .... I like seein the antique RR safety posters. I like the P2K kits, too. The tiny parts are fragile, however. I ended up using brass wire to make grab irons for some of the kits I put together.

Galaxy .... I can tell you are looking forawrd to Spring.

Der .... I like seeing pictures of your previous layout. Feel free to show more. You are making good progress on your current layout. ... Yes, I do have have a parade on the layout for the 4th of July.

Ken .... I do have my CB&Q F7 ABA (167 ABC). I have other CB&Q ABA's and ABBA's (FT's and F3's). Also some single unit CB&Q F's which I mix with others.

Good morning.  I have a funeral to go to, a former colleague and possible one of the fastest general surgeons in the world.  As anesthesia improved, speed became less necessary and unimportant to surgery.  He had no wasted motion or putzing around.  He didn't get a lot of points for beside manner though.

Interesting, but unneccessarily long helicopter video of a derailment in Sacramento

We had about 9 inches of snow on Thursday, and a bit more last night.  It's going to be a week to keep the Weather Guessers guessing, with small storms coming through regularly and the temperature right around freezing.

Good Morning,

A cup of Ray's blend please and some raisin toast.

We are expecting a heat wave this week with temps around 32F all week. It will make for very messy streets and another trip to the car wash at some point.

Another thing we are likely expecting this year is a flood in the spring. I just read the province's forecast and it doesn't look good especially if there is more precip and a fast melt. Good thing they expanded the floodway after our last major event which was in 1997.

Went out for dinner with friends last night to a favourite pizza joint. We have to be there by 4 p.m. otherwise you need to book a reservation at least 2 weeks in advance. Needless to say they serve great pizza.

Ken, that is good news about your car and that is a lot of miles you have on it. My wife was talking to a surgeon we know who has a '97 Volvo wagon with 387,000 miles on the clock and no major work done on it. It is mostly highway miles though and it has a manual transmission with the original clutch. Those old 5 cylinder Volvo engines are nearly indestructable.

I did run a train yesterday. The rotary plow made several laps with the whistle blowing so often it was nearly annoying. Today I think I'll run a passenger train with the Pacific on point. At some stage I must get back to putting the ground cover on the N scale.

Well time to do a little something, what is to be determined after another cup of coffee.

We had temperatures in the mid 40s yesterday, much of the ice and snow has melted, but temperatures have been falling since then.

Flo do we have any cognac?

As funerals go it wasn't so bad.  I saw a bunch of former coworkers.  I did not know the deceased was initially dyslexic and because his family had no money he joined the Merchant Marine and got an extra $5 for travel through mine fields.

His best friend gave eulogy.  Only two years younger, at 86, he is still a full time professor at Hopkins in Urology.  Now a days most surgery is done by laparoscopy.  While he is no longer operating, he has cut more people open than probably most of their faculty combined.  He is still sharp and if you've seen MR Videos of Severna Park MR, you have seen this guy.http://mrv.trains.com/series/video-vault/2016/08/mrvp-video-vault---layout-tour-severna-park-model-railroad-clubs-ho-scale-chesapeake--allegheny

Evening Diners,

Henry- I'm glad you had some fun at the funeral.

I decided to write down a list of materials. Mostly things to get at the hardware store. I estimated that I might spend a little close to $100.

The lumber that I retread from the trash and scrap pile not a little too long. The wood measures 1.5" x 3/4". I was hoping on like 1" in length but I found online some wood that measures 1/2" x 3/4". In which it will lengthen the layout by 1_1/2" but it will be under comfortible conditions. Don't worry I'll get it at Home Depot when building commits.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I'll have the fish fry with french fries and a trip to the salad bar.  And give me a pint of Bavarian Pilsner from Bottomless Brewery in Geneva, Please....

Big Daddy,  funerals are never my favorite activities to attend....  Will be going to one this coming Wednesday.  Got a call this afternoon from "Ma" Deal who was a Home and Careers Teacher at the Middle School where I taught for 19 years...  The other Home and Careers Teacher that worked in our department passed away last Wednesday.  She was 83....  We were all very close in the Fine and Practicle Arts Dept.   Service will be in Newark NY which is about 20 miles from my house.  I will be picking up "Ma" who is almost 90 I think and having her ride with me to it.  Her husband has a Dr. appt in Newark mid afternoon but he would not be able to take both the funeral and then go to the appt.  Niether of them are able to drive at the moment, so I offered to chauffeur.... (Her husband has tranportation to his appt. and I will just meet them at a restaurant for lunch and leave "Ma" with them.) I like chatting with "Ma" anyway....

Garry, thanks for your kind words!  Doing all those things keeps me busy and out of (or in) trouble.  Also they are things I enjoy and it makes me feel useful..... For the next 3 weeks I'll be heading to Canandaigua a good many times to take care of my sister's cats and water her plants while she is in the "Very Far" again.  Turns out my SIL will be able to help out except for 4 days where she is having to recover from some minor surgery....  That means I have about a dozen days to drive up there instead of 21....  My sister leaves tonight for her hotel room at the airport.  I gues her flight leaves at 5 am on Sunday...  She won't be getting much sleep.......  I get to pick her up when she gets back....  At 1AM....  IN THE MORNING!!  And drive her home and then go home myself....  I should be getting home around 3AM or so...

Did get some scenery work done the last few days...  Went from this:

To this:

Hope you all have a great night!

Good Evening,

It never ceases to amaze me the info you can find on the 'net'.  I was looking up info on the 1958 Meteor(Canadian Ford). I had always thought Dad's car had a 352 c.i. engine but no it was a 361. Apparently Ford used the Edsel engine in Canada. Now that is an earth shattering piece of info that is bound to change the course of history. For its day that car sure had go so no wonder he sold it just before I got my licence. With a 3 speed automatic it would hold first to 60 and second to 85 with the pedal all the way down.

I guess I am a little bored so more train time is in order tomorrow. I don't like running trains at night much and besides my wife is watching tellie downstairs and I don't think she would share my enthusiasim for chuffing, never mind the whistle.

Time for tea and a muffin.

Aw, Gee, I thought I was hiding it so well...WHAT gae it away?

Yeah SInce I really get in the doldrums due to SAD, and mid february is usually my lowest point, I am Definitely looking forward to it.

All our bulbs are full spectrum daylight LEDs, that helps, but doesn't do it all, and of course I spend most of my time in the bonus room with the plant lights.

The days are longer now , that helps, and we have DST coming in a month on March 12th. That will add more spring likeness to it. Plus by then I start looking for spring to sprung.

First day of sprung follows on the 20th!!!

Rick So far the trans is doing better than I hoped! It now goes in forward just like that! Shifts are a little harder which is a good thing! Bob does not believe in fixes from a can, but he does believe in this stuff.

 http://lucasoil.com/products/transmission-products/lucas-transmission-fix

I am 99% sure this is what he added when he changed the Fluid and Filter in the Town Car. I used it in my 1968 Road Runner after I let her sleep for 10 years. Trans fluid was leaking on to the headers and smoked like heck. Car was still shifting hard but the leak was bad. Added some of the Lucas tretament and it stopped leaking! Yes

Good evening all.

Zoe - How about a small slice of that yummy looking cake, and a glass of milk. Thanks.

Weather - 39 today, but a winter storm starting tomorrow, through Monday. Expecting close to a foot of fresh snow by Tuesday morning.

W**k - Decently busy today. Did almost 5K in sales, as a store, beating every other store that our owner has. (Closest was in NY state, about 900 short of us.) That is not usual for our little store! I had just two sales, totaling just under 1000 of that, which would have been higher had I not been dinged by a return, but on my big sale, hit $32 in spiff money on it alone due to a contest. (And the return actually helped me out on another sales metric, upping my percentage in two cartagories, as they go off of that amount Vrs total sales I did....) That actually pushed me over the spiff money the other guy made, and he hit almost 4000 in sales. (He wasn't pleased with that one, but wasn't angry with me either. He didn't hustle like I did to hit that spiff, and he had more ops to get it, as I was 1-2, he went 0-6...) The DM did say that our little store is leading the entire district in one sales metric, and sit second on another. I myself sit second in the district on one of those. (Coincidentally, the one I was 1-2 of today...) Smile

Trains - Anyone have some tips on Mantua steamers? I recently acquired a 4-6-2 Pacific, with their power-drive system, and can't seem to get her to run. If I am correct, the loco picks up power from one rail, and the tender the opposite rail, right? (And, Tender should be insulated wheels on the right hand rail, correct?) This is my fourth steamer, and first from Mantua, so I am not as experienced on steam as I am in diesel locomotives, and zero prior experience in Mantua models. She is a very nice looking loco, so she will be kept either way, but I would like to see her run. She came with zero documentation, other than her box, so even just tips on getting her boiler off to trouble shoot would help right now. If I am correct, under the trailing truck is three screws that need to come off, as well as the lead truck, but am I correct? Really would like to get her to run, but am not sure how to even get inside to trouble shoot things...

Other newly acquired power is a Bachmann GP38-2, in NS paint, from a friend, a couple of P2K Alco F2 units , an FA2 and FB2, in Erie RR paint, in the gift box, and a painted but unlettered Bachmann Climax locomotive, from same friend. These ones I will be working on once the current SD40-2 project is close to completion. They need a cleaning and lube job, DCC added as needed, and then programmed. The SD40-2 project stalled out momentarily, as the rear headlights do not fit. I might skip those for now, as she will mostly be run short hood forward, save for in a consist with another loco, so a rear light is not 100% necessary.... So I may just skip that and go to adding working ditch lights, programming and final assembly. (I can always come back to adding a rear light later on...) Might get the SD done, or close to done, tomorrow after work, then start on the next project on Monday.

I also have to clean and lube the unit(s) going to a friends 10 year old son, plan is Monday I will do them.

Well, goodnight everyone.

Ricky,

For info on the Mantua Pacific go to the website; hoseeker.com. They have all the manuals there. It looks like there is a long screw in the stack and another under the trailing truck.

Afternoon Diners

Over 12 hours and no post. It's pretty empty.

It was a cloudy morning so I went to Home Depot to get some supplies. So I bought some sample paints of brown and blue. 2 bottles of white glue, 4 1 inch clamps, and 3 2x2 insulation board. All and all it came out to $41 dollars.

It's starting to come together, later on I'll get the other supplies.

Lately it's been nothing but snow here.  It will be close to another 24 hours before it stops, and we don't exactly slip into summer after that.  I've had both a never-ending cold and a bad knee this winter, so my normal enthusiasm for skiing has not had much to cheer about, either.

I've got to find my utility knife and start doing some layout work.  Perfect weather for it.

I worked outside on the old Porsche, and it is neaely read for summer. Next, I will get new tires for it.

Also, I am getting started on working on income taxes which is always a pain.

Cheers, everybody !

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We did & topped it off with a nice dinner this evening of round steak, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, butterscotch pudding & a bottle of semi dry Reisling from Seneca Lake. Feeling quite satisfied right now.

Another interesting & active weekend of railfanning. 12 trains on Saturday & 14 today.

10 intermodals

13 mixed freights

1 coal train

1 crude oil

1 denatured alcohol

A mixed freight on Saturday had 2 flat cars with Case tractors, & further back were multiple cars of John Deere tractors. It's been awhile since we have seen any tractors in transit.

Also on Saturday was a short mixed freight which I think might be one of the more interesting trains I've caught. A single SD40-2 leading a neat crane & gondola, then 4 or 5 flat cars with sheet steel, then 2 special loads on heavy duty flat cars. I have no idea what these loads are, but the 1st one is on a DODX car. If anybody knows, I would be interested in what you have to say. Note that the 2nd load is on a 12 axle flat. Never saw the prototype before.

Tom—

I rceognize that thing in the blue cradle...

It looks like this after the final painting.

You should post those photos over in the "Freight Trains Are SO Boring These Days" thread Smile

I'll stop by later,

Good Sunday evening Diners: I’m thinking that the length of this will push us from Page 5 to Page 6, and this may therefore be Top of Page. So, place your orders gents, and I’ll pick up the tab.
Ray:
Yep!  And somehow it always seems to be the trains fault in many peoples’ minds.....
…and that the train can stop on a dime, just like the proverbial car!
Ed:
Lost parts in the carpet! Ha, the best soultion I have found is a cordless, new-age, Dustbuster that has the clear plastic dust bin. You can empty it out onto a flat surface and sort through the goodies. Sometimes you get lucky...
My “hack” for this is (best solution) the toe end of a stocking or (less ideal) a summer weight sock in the nozzle of the vacuum and held there with a rubber band. Do the search, and empty the sock onto the flat surface for sorting. I forget where I came across that, wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the Coffee Shop which was this Diner’s forerunner.  At the workbench I’ve taken to clipping a tea towel to the front edge and arranging it on my lap. That catches small do-dads quite well.
There's a full "Snow" moon tonight and with a light dusting of snow it looks almost like daylight out there Indifferent !
In these parts that full moon was in eclipse around 9:00 pm. Didn’t see it though because of clouds.(and we forgot the time!Embarrassed)
 Henry:
Good morning.  I have a funeral to go to, a former colleague and possible one of the fastest general surgeons in the world.  As anesthesia improved, speed became less necessary and unimportant to surgery.  He had no wasted motion or putzing around.  He didn't get a lot of points for beside manner though.
Sorry for your loss – but your former colleague sounds a bit like “Doc Martin”! https://www.google.ca/search?q=Doc+Martin&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=SDKfWNjZN4WmjwSJt6vIAQ
YGW:
Der .... I like seeing pictures of your previous layout. Feel free to show more. You are making good progress on your current layout. ... Yes, I do have a parade on the layout for the 4th of July.
thought so, IIRC you posted that a year or so back. Those previous layout shots will reappear from time to time as relevant. If you want to scroll through far too many Photobucket pages I can give you the link! BwaHaHaHa!Clown
LION: Good to see you’re recovered. Lovers of sticky buns everywhere are rejoicing Thanks for the basket!
Duke:
Der  The last wooden nickel I saw was too big to put in your pocketSurprise
…like this one? Mind you last time I saw this was 1981. It’s in Sudbury Ontario – where they’ve mined nickel from an ancient meteor for may be over a century. So guess what the cladding is?
CNCharlie:
Good thing they expanded the floodway after our last major event which was in 1997.
I remember flying over that flood on the way back from TO to Edmonton. HUGE!

Train Front: I cleared off all the stored scenery and bits and bobs which were inside the loop at the far end of the layout. That loop will be in a tunnel beneath the mountain on which my “Tourist Castle Theme Park” served by the N3n narrow gauge line will be. I did this so as to begin the card-stock frame for the tunnel liner. Had to “stone-wash” the portals which are Woodlands Scenics plaster castings first:
I also trimmed the portal supports I had made from scrap foam so that the card liner pieces would fit well and be held against the back of the portals: Those card pieces had to be modified also so as not to foul the portal supports:

I laid out and cut approximately enough card pieces to complete the liner, ensuring that the “grain” of each new sheet of card was oriented so as to bend correctly without creasing. Then it was just a matter of attaching the liner form pieces one by one, checking for correct clearance with the double stack well car/passenger car consist I used for the previous tunnels. Nearly all the card pieces from those projects were reusable.
The final card piece I custom fit to close the gap between the nearly completed liner form and the liner piece at the far portal. So now I have the whole of the card liner frame ready to have track worker refuge forms put on, and the painted, crushed and flattened foil applied.
That’s for another day though. If that day is Monday, I hope we keep power – there is a very nasty Nr’ Easter again in our immediate future, enough snow, and high winds to test the integrity of the system! For now though I’ll just draw a line under what has been a productive  and enjoyable time, and wish you all a Goodnight. Prayers for all in need.Angel

 Evening Diners

Flo, Ed and I will have a Beer and give the Super Sales Person Rick what ever he wants!

Work Front I really have no idea how many people came in! It seemed busyier than I was because I had 2 couples that stayed a 1.5 hours each! That is 3 hours out of 5 hours. Both couples bought, but for what they bought? That was a lot of time! Whistling

Mantua steamers

Rick I have one I think it is a Texan 2-10-2 that I got from Jeffery (dinner is named after him) and it was a good running and tracking Steam Engine. When I lost intrest was when I tried to convert it to DCC. Could not get a normal LED to fit. With the Care Package that Ed sent I may give it another try.

Dang Gary! You had to post the photo of the CB&Q's FT's! Bang Head Now I want some! Sigh Only FT I have is a Bachmann that Jeffery cobbled togather

Ed I see from WPF why you have not been in the dinner much! Bow Yours and Garys are two layouts I would love to see in person.

Ray I see you have been busy as well! Yes I may try the titles next time.

Galaxy Good to see you posting again! I do hope everything works outs.

Ulrich Are things going OK? Have not seen you posting for a few days.

Train Front MoJo seems to be back! Giving the Bessmer's a break and using the PK1 Erie Bulits dragging some passangers cars. Had a few problems when I got them up to 40 sMPH (if you believe the QSI speed read out) and they seemed to be hauling!

 Later and best wishes.

Evening all.

Hobby Front:  As mentioned earlier I had intended to get a railyard rebedded, the track relaid and an engine house installed today. Unfortunately that didn't happen. I got the cork installed, but in the process, had a boat load of problems. Didn't get the engine house finished so it ended up staying at home. (Should be ready for next week.) I also discovered the area on the other side of the river had sunk over the years and the end of the riverbed was floating in midair (I knew about the floating riverbed but thought that the screen lath would handle it. It didn't) Ended up taking a piece of plywood from the ranch scrap pile and three screws (two seen from the top amd the other I could hide in an existing hill going bottom up) to lift that area. (Popped up the track on that section in the process as well and had to take the extra shimming out.) Also used a scrap from that plywood and a couple other pieces of wood to build a support for the riverbed piece. Glued it to the underside of the table with a couple of spots of construction adhesive. (Braced with a yardstick which is what was handy.) Also in the process had to tear out about 4 feet of unfinished riverbed in order to do a lot of these fixes. (Thankfully almost of the riverbed is reuseable but that will give the blender a workout when I get to that. Also needed to get new metal screen to rebuild the river bed's support. There will be dripping when it gets installed.) Hard to believe how one little project ended up turning into so many major ones.

Leaves lots of projects foe next week.
