csxns BRAKIE Athearn and Bev-Bel/Athearn. Are they the same shade of green and i never knew Athearn did one or is it a different boxcar than Bev-Bel and living close to the GRN the boxcars were lighter green.

Russ,The two I have are dark green..The Athearn is a RTR former BB.

I'm still looking for several road names including the Bev-Bel/Athearn Aberdeen & Rockfish 50' ACF boxcar. I've been told by a Bev-Bel/Athearn collector only 2,500 was made in a single run.. I have the Walthers A&R waffle side boxcar that was released in kit form years ago.

Mine is considered to collecting freight cars, coaches and locomotives. The other one is designing track plans.

I enjoy all of it. Best part to me is basic scenery, screen wire and plaster,not too fond of ballesting tho.

tatansI'm not surprised that a lot of members quote actually building and finishing individual projects was the number one response, I am surprised by the number that did NOT respond with buying far too much "stuff' and hoarding boxes and boxes of unfinished kits that can never be completed in 3 lifetimes (and you know who you are, don't you)
No No No. I am not a Hoarder, it just looks that way.
I am really a Collector. Collectors don't build things, they just collect them. It only looks like hoarding to the un-informed.
My favorite parts of the hobby are trying to make scense that appear as realistic as possible. I also like gluing people figures in for some reason and have a layout population of about fifty people, three dogs, several horses, two deer and a mountain lion all of which were carefully placed as they might appear in the real world. My absolute favorite thing to do however is to try out a new engine...

Just got in two 4 packs of Branchline Yardmaster cars in :-)
I can now put my postal scale, wheel weights and 6 yr old to use
I also enjoy working on engines, at least the ones you can take part without fighting 100 different wires and too fine detail.
