Flo, please.
Dang, I feel good today for a change! Got my running done and felt like working on the back 40. Got my fences painted deluded (not sure that is the right word) so I could use my Harbor Freight Air-Less Spayer. Went to loaded the spayer, would not work like the last one! Then I finally foud the hole to oil (booklet it came with sucks) and then it worked fine! Got the outside facing boards done and surfaces that will be aginst the post. I will paint my side when they are up. With some luck that will be Thursday.
Fence Removal Just like I thought, was harder than I thought. Had to remove 3 tree stumbs (small only 3") but hard to get to. Ran into more vines, but not wild grape vines. Got 16 foot and one post removed. I would have got the other 16 foot out but the weather turned ulgy.
It is a shame, I still felt like working. Got the construction fence up and was ready to BBQ. I had the grill lite then the Tornado Waring went off. I turned off the grill and hunker down. Right now it seems like the worst is over.
Bill Is Tipon just 5 miles away? Well Carmel is a lot bigger now that when I grew up. Bill you know how people from Ind make fun of people from KY? (not Gary he is top notch)
Funny story. When I first mover out here I did not know the name Hoosier was a Derogatory Name. I had just been promted and was meeting with one of my managers. My Cadillac was sitting in the parking lot, and the plates said The Hoosier State. I was sitting in the manger offices talking with him when the Asnt Manger stuck is head in the door and asked "Who Hoosier Car is that in the parking lot?"
Manger looked sick and started to sink under his desk. Said "That Mr Greenwell Car, he is the new Area Supvesior." Greg turned white which is hard to do being a black man and he slunk away. I was sitting there tolally clue less what was going on!

Ulrich that is a good qoute.
"Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner" Personally I think we should leave it as Jeffrey's Diner. Jeff was the hightst poster on the site and pretty much kept the dinner going. I do like the idea of the RIP Track.
Well, later.

Hi Gang,
Just a short one here as I have much to do.
Tipton Bill, It is indeed great to see you back here, we lost Jeff about the same time that you disappeared from the Diner. To me it never felt quite right after that.
Does that Big Hot Coffee Pot of yours still work ? We sure could use it here in the mornings / or anytime. Welcome back......
Ulrich, Sure sorry to hear you didn't get better news from the Sawbones. But glad to see you are living life the best you can right now. Although I am having trouble keeping up with your changes in the model railroad world. I wish you the best good Buddy.
Good wishes and prayers for all in need, especially Ulrich, YGW's Family & SIL and Ken's Family especially his daughter Sharon.
BTW. For the Diner I do prefer the RIP Track idea. (* Rest in Peace *) I think it is the best idea.
Will try to check back in later.

yougottawantaAny news on the problem you had the other day ?
YGW - you really don´t want to know what the docs said bout my check-up results! Nor do I! I decided to ignore all of that medical talk and continue life as it is. OK, I have to pay a price for putting 90 years of life into 60 calendar years, but so what? The damage is done and it won´t change a thing if I wallow in self-pity.
Mors certa, hora incerta - words of wisdom from the old Roman folks (death is certain, the hour not).
I spent a couple of hours working on the detail of the freight cars. I added/corrected underbody detail, added more detail to the bodies and improved the wheels and axle bearings.
My virtual roster of Marklin stock now looks like this:
Not that you can really see all that detail, but it kept me busy and out of mischief for a while.
Of course, the "new cars" had to be put on the tracks of my layout, you know, the one I am going to build when I grow up and get rich, but not before!
Talking of food, we had spicy turkey shish kebab and Petra´s award winning potato salad for dinner - yummy! I ate too much of it!
Could I get some French Toast (with powered sugar of course), syrup, a few sausage links and some OJ this morning, Ms. Flo. Thank you.
PM Railfan ( Might I suggest for rememberences of fallen friends that no diner renaming, or menu juggling be done. Yet, under the title banner that opens each months thread, how about a list of names instead? Nothing grandios. Maybe give it a subheading of "'RIP' Track", and a nice little railroaders proverb accompanying it. Should one of us succomb to the end of life as we know it... no fuss, no muss..... just add the name to the list. ) With any luck, it will remain a short list. Douglas

I would also vote for that idea as well.
Afternoon folks,
Chloe, just a glass of Cherrybundy Lite please...
PM, I like that idea as well! Somebody needs to draw up of list of our members who have gone to the great "Layout in the Sky".
I'm taking a cleaning break at lunchtime here in the Finger Lakes Region. The Driveway seal place arrived mid morning and finished the job. I also sent out an email to the folks that may be here for the meeting tonight to not even think of parking their cars/trucks/whatevers in that driveway..... It should be OK to walk one by 6:00PM though. Debating whether top bake cookies for them or just run to the store and get some dtore bought stuff. Not sure I want to run the oven when it is over 90°F outside. The air conditioner is keeping it a nice 74°F in here.
Prayers for all those in need of them!!!

This stuff is gonn kill me ! Hey Ulrich - Since your other half is still feeding you do you think you could spare a morsel of real food every once in a while ?
Frank, CN Charlie, Bill - Glad to see you drop in. Here I will share some of this heart healthy cardboard food stuff if you want some. Just have a glass of water handy !
Garry - I agree - I have invited a LOT of people and the viewing count seems to be higher - but it would be nice to have more join us in conversation : )
Ken - I know that worry. The yard wars will help occupy your mind. Read that paper I sent you. It will help keep your spirits up
Henry - I think he would enjoy "Barry burger"
Douglas - It caight us all off gaurd. We all like him very much.
V8 - Didnt see a PM come through
Chessie - I was in a meeting when you called. Can I call today ?
Ulrich - LOL She still feeds you ? You are such a joy to have as a friend. You make me smile a lot. I pray that your health improves. Any news on the problem you had the other day ?
Lion - LIIIIIOOOOONNNN Brought in some more fresh wildebeast for you !

YGW
Good Morning,
Another rainy day here but it is a good chance to get in some RR work.
Tom, nice to see you in the Diner. Are you still railfanning?
Mr. B, congrats on the anniversary. My wife and I had ours on the 3rd of July, number 34. We didn't celebrate until last Friday as we were too tired from the visit by our friends on the day. We went out for dinner to a great tapas place here called Segovia, a name Ray probably can relate to.
Ken, sorry to hear about your daughter. Aesophegeous problems are a constant problem for my wife. She was at her specialist.
I finally have the Dairy Queen finished and it is installed on the layout. It looks good and is a reminder of my mother who loved Dairy Queen.
Hope everyone is well.

Garry: Glad things have relaxed somewhat to give You a break!

I´ll second that motion!
How about something like this:
"The Trackside Diner´s RIP Track - in memoriam of: (followed by the names)"
I also suggest to rename "Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner" into just "Trackside Diner" and add Jeff´s name to the list on the RIP track.
Aye or nay?
Bill- a mad dog on the loose is a die-hard critter! Despitre many attempts for the final call, I am still around.

wetidlerjr Good morning! Just checking in after a long absence. I do lurk here now and then just to check on everyone. I hope the best for your daughter Ken and on another note, I didn't know you were a Hoosier. I live in Tipton, just up US 31 and five miles east on IN SR 28 from Carmel. Also, nice to see my German friend is still kicking. You can't keep a good"madog" down.

Bill T .... It is great to see you ! .... I was near you about three weeks ago. I drove through Indiana on my last trip from here in western Kentucky to eastern Michigan. Normally we go through Ohio, but I wanted to try the new section of I-69 from Evansville to Bloomington. The new highway is great, but the old highway IN 37 to Indianapolis was not so good with construction on it. From Inndianapolis, I continued on the old section of I-69 to Michigan. .......
Note to other Diners of the past: ... If you are lurking say "Hi" to us as Bill has now done so we know you are okay !
Ken ... Prayers will continue. I think a living will is a good idea based on the recent experience with my mother passing away. It helped my sisters and I make a very tough decision because my mother did have a living will.
On my layout, I am finally running trains over the track I have been working on. This is the project that should have only taken a week but instead took about 2 1/2 months .

Good Morning!
I got up early this morning - 4.30am, but that gave me 6 1/2 hours of sleep without interruption! Not enough to make me feel refreshed, but too much to go back to sleep again. Well, one can´t win `em all!
angelob6660Ulrich- It's hard for me to model building, scenery, and locomotives in scarm. Is it hard for you to do?
angelob - you have to draw the shapes in 2D mode and add information as to the vertical position (in height above or below the benchwork) and object height. You can also select the color or "mix" your own color.
Drawing in 2D mode is a little awkward as you have to toggle back and forth between 2D mode and 3D mode for checking. My first attempts were a complete disaster, but after a lot of practice, I have become quite handy with this tool.
I found the video tutorial to be helpful:
Zoe, make that coffee in an IV bag for me, and a breakfast bagel, please!
I´ll be back later!
Evening Dinners
Flo, and a Barry Buger please. Buy the Buick Guy a brew as well.
It is amazimg how tired one can become from worry. It was a slow day, so I had plenty time to worry about Sharon. I need to get the details DNR order. I respect her wishes and cannot blame her for feeling that way. On the other hand I do want some details. I think the main thing it is about is having her on a Ventilator. My daughter has very bad Asthma and has to take steriods. To do the surgery they have to deflate at less one lung. That is the part I am worried about the most. Some days her just breathing is a challange.
Big Daddy Sharons freind Sherry (all so her lawyer) will have the medical power of attonery. I am fine with that. Her mom is a bit of a nut job.
Jeremy from NW Ind I am 14 miles from ST Louis Mo. I grew up in Carmel Indiana and born in Washington Ind.
Thank you all for the kind words and I mean it! As soon as I know more I will let the folks here at the dinner what is going on.
On to happer things.
Yard Wars Boy I am down in the dump when I rather talk about Yard Wars! Last big pile of brush and vines have been hauled off by the city! I think that last of the I have to cut down stuff is done! There will big one more big pile, but this is the stuff I want to have cut down, not made to! I need to get about another 20 boards up on the rear fence then I think zoning will cut me some slack, I hope!
I hope to get the last 24 feet of old fence down Wednesday. That should take say a hour in a half depending on the heat and how I feel. Cutting up and hauling away the old fence should not be that hard, but I have said that before!
Well, time to get going. And again thank you for all the kind words.
Henry - Thank You for the confirmation. I totally missed this news. I didnt have hardly any interaction with Barry save for a few passing replies to posts. Still, as a member of the brotherhood - he will be missed.
My sincerest belated condolences to the family.
Doug sorry to tell you we did lose Barry about 2 months ago. He went to the hospital and he did not come home.
I'm not so sure the Barry Burger is the right thing to remember him by. It's not a matter of PC, it's just unhealthy like hot dog eating contests or Tray Walker (NFL) riding a dirt bike in the dark on public streets.

Hello Railfans!
Ken - very sorry to hear about your daughter. Best wishes here my friend to you for things to work out in the best positive manner.
Mr AND Mrs. B - Happy Anniversary! And ofcourse - wishing you many more to come!
The Bear posted above -
"Heartland Garry and Ulrich, I’ve been thinking about your comments a few pages back on how Barry could be suitably remembered and ..."
Um, folks.... did we lose someone? If so, I didnt get the memo! I know im not here as often as id like, but gees guys, keep me in the loop on something like this.
Afternoon Diners,
Sorry about your daughter, Ken.
Ulrich- It's hard for me to model building, scenery, and locomotives in scarm. Is it hard for you to do?
Nothing much happening. I was wondering whether or not to get the Micro-Trains Business Car kit for the G.N.O. Railway. I also thinking of getting the NYC Baggage- Mail car to go with the NYC Pullman Green baggage car.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
Ken my prayers for your daughter. It doesn't sound like a DNR issue, but I'm sure the lawyer will also fix her up with a medical power of attorney, which is different and allows the medical team to discuss you condition with the people of your choice. Something we all should have these days.
It was the 16th aniversary of our first date. We have been married 4 years but have known each other 28.
No train news to report.
Ken - my prayers go out to you and your daughter. May God guide the surgeons during the operation so that your daughter may have a speedy recovery.
YGW - will call you after work.
All the best.

yougottawantaUlrich - How does YOH like having you around all of the time ? Were you in buisness for your self when tyou traveled a lot ?
YGW - I am not sure whether she likes it or not. She still feeds me, so it must be OK!
Most of my traveling I did when I was employed by big multinational businesses, like Mobil Oil, Toshiba, Thyssen Steel (now Thyssen Krupp Steel) and SFS.
I have been playing with SCARm a little, detailing the trains on my dream layout, which has been pared down slightyl to come a little more within reach. I will keep this plan as a goal to be achieved ... when I grow up and get rich!
... and here are the trains I drew for my layout:
Lunch Time !!!
Flo can I have ice water, card board with seasoning, paper that passes as lettuce and some pretend steak. Well anyways it is a good day other than the grub. Man I wish 30 again and I could eat what ever I wanted !
Mr B - Happy Anniversary to you
Johnboy - Well hello glad to see you drop in !! Hey be careful with the "w**k" word it is a four letter word that some of the retired folks here take great offense to !
Jim - Tell us more about the NMRA convention please
Howmus - Oh misunderstood that. Are you wearing an apron while you dust ? just kidding
Ricky W - Any photos of the progress of the kit ? That stinks about the pay and loosing out on sales
Ulrich - My dishwasher died this week, had to put two tires on the family truck, two tires on the car, mechanic had to work on the Mower ( again ), the work truck is back in the shop and the stinking weedeater will not stay running I think I should just adopt some mechanic - it would be cheaper !
bear - That is a pretty fun idea
Jeremy C - Hope you get some rest
Richard - Until we get a change in Government here from the current crowd of crooks, I dont think jobs will improve. At the beginning of the current crowd we lost our 401 k so now no retirment plan at all, Insurance premuims went up to a 10k deductible ( basically non insurance ) , duties added and pay cuts. Yep not happy !
Ulrich - How does YOH like having you around all of the time ? Were you in buisness for your self when tyou traveled a lot ?
Lion - Here Kitty Kitty - I have brought some nice fresh wildebeast !
Reinhard - Give me a call when you get a chance
Garry - Howdy so you like the change in the post too ?
Ken - I pray that our heavenly father will lok after your daughter, guide teh doctors, give you and yours comfort and not fear. That he will heal her and that all will go well. You have my number if you need someone to talk to
