yougottawantaLion - what is the light fixture itself made of ? Is that the christmas light also ?
The "fixture" *is* the LED. I poked a 3/16" hole in the ceiling material and poked the LED into it. On top of the ceiling material I bent the long leads one way, and the short leads the other way. I soldered all of the long wires together to a bare copper wire, and the short side was wired to a 1K ohm 1/4W resistor which in turn was wired to another bare wire.

I decided to delete my post as I think it best just to ignore and move on.. so I'll be at the Rivet Counter.
Friday the 13th., one version I learned, started when the King of France rounded up the members of the Knights Templar on Friday the 13th. in an attempt to gain their wealth. Most escaped to parts unknown, three, Jaques DeMolay, Hudy Peralle, and Guy of Avernne not so luckey. Tortured, and burned at the stake, they never disclosed the whereabouts of the fortune.
Side note--within two years what was a band of mountain farmers forced to pay tribute, turned into a force that was never defeated, and became the financial center of the world--Switzerland.
Their battle prowess was so savage the Vatican negotiated a treaty whereby they would no longer fight as mercinaries, and became the Swiss Guard at the Vatican.
When I was trip fishing on offshore trawlers we never left on a trip on Friday.
To prove that this was just a superstition, in New York a ship was built, keel laid on Friday, launched on Friday, named Friday, set sail on her first voyage on Friday,
and was never heard from again-------!!??

Charlie Maybe I spoke to generally and no offense was intended towards your parents, But let me give you a few examples of why I think some of the retail management I have run across are not so great people. I have a friend who on the way to work was TBoned at an intersection and in the accident her arm was broken. Giant foods FIRED her instead of finding light duty. Schmidt bread company decided to change their buisness model and to sell their routes to the delivery guys. For those who didnt want to buy the routes they promised several weeks of severance pay if they stayed on until they found new "owners", when the time came to pay they only paid 1/2 week. Wegmans grocery store will only allow two venders to check in their product at a time. They make the rest wait out in the snow/raining/blazing hot etc... weather, they treat their venders lower than dirt. Another company the driver was involved in an accident ( not sure whose fault ) the manager came to the hospital and while the guy is laid up in the hospital the company FIRED him in the hospital ! I could give you a dozens more examples of how badly retail treats its employees. I only know of a very few retail outlets that treat their people good. I am sure your parent were in the better group vs satans spawn.
YGW,
In a previous post you stated that the owners of retail stores are spawned from satans loins. Quite frankly I find that comment to be highly offensive. My parents owned a retail store for many years and so by your definition they were spawn of satans loins. I understand that you are frustrated with one particular retailer but to tar all with the same brush isn't called for no matter what your current stress level may be.
Hello all
My wife and I are exhausted. They sent our daughter back home. They could not figure out what it is. The pain was so bad they gave her morphine. They recommended a specialist. On the way in my wife vehicle had a flat tire. She was in tears when she called. I will be taking her flowers and dinner tonight. She needs a break.
Howmus - D. Adams qoute about cats. I assume that is a kitty cat and not a Cat as in Caterpillar excavation equipment ? Either way the qoute hold true for both !
Ulrich - She is still in discomfurt. Not happy they sent her home. Triska...blghsw...oh excuse me my tongue got tied up on that word !
Lion - what is the light fixture itself made of ? Is that the christmas light also ?
Richard - Shouldnt be any dangerous than any other day. Depends on how you feel about flying at any time. For some like my Mom there is no such thing as a safe flight !
Steve - If you are feeling bored about no RAs I can start something up I am sure Thanks on the comment on my daughter
Ken - Which part of the movie did you hate ?
JaBear - Sure we like Kiwis
Herrinchoker - Thanks for the comments on my Daughter.
Garry - Hope your Mom is doing okay.

Of what?
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup this morning, a couple sausage links, and a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast organic coffee to keep my R&GV RR Mug filled.
Rained most all night here in the Finger Lakes Region. We actaully needed it so overnight is always good. If only trhge skies would now clear so I could make some electricity I would be happy. Yesterday got up to 82° here and today will barely reach 70°F. Won't get to 70° again for over a week they say.
I will be spending most of today working on the photos for the MLK Slide Show. Have to look up what size they need to be to use on my ancient old MacBook. I will slow to a crawl if the photos are too large. This may be the last time I use the old girl as she is at least 15 years old ans is starting to show signes of her age....

Afternoon, Folks!
10 days without anybody misbehavin´? That´s scary! I remember times it took me 6 to 8 hours of work as a moderator to scan all the forums and extinguish the little fires someone always started.
Is it a sign that we all get wiser with age?
I went to see my doc this morning as the pain was just unbearable again. He gave me a couple of shots to ease the pain and to help the healing process, but it does make me feel sick - just in time for the holiday weekend ahead of us.
YGW - any news from your daughter?
Richard - scared of what? It´s just another day, unless you suffer from a bad case of triskaidekaphobia. Can´t be me - I don´t even know how to pronounce this!
Janie, just a glass of chamomile tea, please. I can´t stand the stuff, but it is supposed to do you good when you fill sick in your stomach.
yougottawantaLion - how did you make those ceiling lights ?
Those are LEDs. They are the laregr 5mm (T1 1/2) from a Christmas set that I took apart. I save the indivitual lamps, and then I save the wires. There are three conductors, and only one conductor has the sockets attached, so on a 25' long set, I get 50' of nice wire.

Steve - How long since an RA has been filed in this thread ? 9 days ?
10 days now. And I'm talking about the entire Forum, not just this thread, and not even just the MR side!
yougottawanta I am trying to stay awake. I am home with two of the girls and my wife is at the ER with the other daughter. She is having severe pains in her abodmen. I suspect she may have appendicitis ? I dont want to go to sleep. I want to be awake when MOH calls with updates. Maybe I will go read ? If anyone is awake I would appreciate prayers for her.

Best wishes to her. Hope it is appendicitis, because that's fairly straightforward to fix and a quick recovery. Or, if you're really lucky, just gas.

Flo, big cup of please.
Gary I forgot again to wish your mother well, sorry and hope she is starting to do better.
YGW How's the daughter doing?
I watched the movie Fury last night, part of it I hated rest was little better than OK. Sure not up there with Band Of Brother's.
Later Ken

Afternoon all
Been a very busy week ! The sales event was a success. Now gearing up to walk a spec house with sales and a proto type with the owners. Pain in the butt both. But part of the normal duties.
Henry - Are sawbones that bad ?
Ricky - sounds like a great week end. Hope you post some photos Monday ?
Howmus - Great and true qoutes
Ulrich - I sent Galaxy an email a while ago. Havent heard from him either. Does anyone have his phone number ? Ken do you have it ?
Chessie - No problem I think you will enjoy the fence one when you get a chance to review it.
Bob - "took a few iterations" - I think we can all say that at times when we put stuff together !
Garry - for your mom
Lion - how did you make those ceiling lights ?
Angel - "nothing intersting to say " ? What? Heck I never have anything interesting to say but I just say it anyway !
Ken - Owners of retail stores I think are spawned from satans own loins. For instance I saw this web page for XYZ trains and this weekend all over town there was this other train store ZYX that said they bought trains. So I look them up and low and behold they are the train store in Fairfax Va. So I say to myself I will just go there and unload some rolling stock I no longer want ( they advertise that they pay the highest right ) and I tell them I want $2.50 a car all of which are in mint condition. I know they are selling the stuff for $8 to $15, BECAUSE I LOOKED ON THEIR WEB SITE FOR PRICING before I went. Guess what he offers ? $1 each ! I look at him like "do you think I am stupid" or "you are a thief and you are silly enough to think I am stupid". Need less to say I walked out of there with my stuff. I have a suggestion for your dog wash. Wash the dog in the rain ! Saves the $40 for train stuff, saves a bit of water from the water bill which may pay the taxes on the train stuff its a WIN WIN condition. I watched Fury a while ago. I didnt like it that well. On the coal loads I thought they looked pretty good.

Steven OtteYou know, it's been 9 days since anyone has filed an RA for a rules violation on the Forums.
Jeez I've only that on another forum where newbies are unmoderated and their 1st post is pure spam. People need to lighten up and get a life. It's only the Internet.
Facebook is another story. Some of those people go out of their way to be rude (non model railroaders) Then there is your friends. Doesn't matter liberal or conservative, they will say the most outrageous things, even if you are the same political persuasion.
Even when people bend the rules here, I haven't seen anything that ruffles my feathers. But I worked with surgeons for 30 years. Most other people are little league when it comes to being narcissistic.
Trainfront I worked on soldering and wiring the buss last night. I am so glad someone convinced me to build module style because I turned it on it's side. There is no way I could solder underneath anymore. As it was, sitting cross legged or keenling, I could barely stand up when I was done.
Reading about Garry's mom, and I can't complain. She has my prayers. She is going to have a difficult recovery. A guy I knew from a motorcycle club reached out to me by email last night for medical advice. He had some sort of spine surgery (he should have asked before that) that left him with bilateral foot drop. That means every step your toe is pointing to the ground. Easy to trip, hard to go upstairs and no way to shift gears on a motorcycle. I really had nothing to offer. I suppose someone could make him a bionic suit that would stimulate his muscles, but would insurance pay for it? As far as I know this is all experimental stuff. He's 50 at the most.
Ken I think I heard good things about Fury. Hard to find but R Lee Ermy is in the Siege of Firebase Gloria. Gripping, don't know how realistic it is.

Afternoon folks!
Flo, a Barry Buger, 5 pices of and some please. Thanks Steve!
Started out as a rotten day! till 2:00 Pm and now it is beautiful out side, to bad I am out doing anything mode. Took 4 hours to do all the needed running.
Wife question, am I missing something here? Sue wants to take Sparkie The Rock Dog to Petsmart and spend $40.00 for him to get a bath. Now I rather wash him my self, but I sort of understand OK. But what I don't understand is Sparkie cannot go out in the ran to use the bathroom? So it is all right to pay someone to get your dog wet but Mother Nature cannot do it for free?
Well, I am going to watch the WWII film Fury and see how Inaccurate it is.
Later, Ken
Good afternoon.
I see Flo finally has a day off. Zoe, I will have the bbq special, and a coke.
Garry, sorry to hear about your mom falling, hope she gets healed up soon!
Steve, where do I go for the ? Hopefully we all go easy on your wallet!
Weather today, so far is good, overcast but 80F, and so far dry. Hopefully dry come Saturday, otherwise the show in Jamestown NY will be a wash out... (Pun is intended.)
For those interested, the show Saturday is in downtown Jamestown NY, @The old Erie RR station. Indoor model rail show, outdoor displays from WNYP RR and Viscose 6, a tank steam engine. (Hence the hope for dry weather on Saturday.) Sunday Viscose 6 will be in Dunkirk, NY, at the Chataqua county fairgrounds. Both locations will have other train related outdoor displays and events as well.
Both show events are free, Sunday the chicken bbq @Dunkirk is separate, but the displays are free entry.
Off today, but back to work in the morning.
Hope all is well!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes cereal with some fresh blueberries and a pot of Marakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee to start trhe day.
Shhhhh! Steven don't say that too loud or 1. a flood of inappropreate post will flood the place, and 2. your boss may decide you aren't working hard enough and reduce you to part time......
The sun is shining outside today and I may have to turn on the air conditioner for the first time this season as the high is supposed to get up to 82°F. It is currently 68°F here.
I have to spend an hour or so over at church resetting the EQ computer on the sound system to accurately match the room as it is now. Got a quote on some new monitors for the choir from the company we have used ion the past for the sound. That needs to be looked at and see if it will 1. work for us, 2. can be easily wired with what we already have in the location, and 3. can be covered for the cost....

Garry - for your Mom!
Good Afternoon!
It´s a bit of a lazy day, i.e. I am not up to much today, just letting time pass by. I am a wee bit miffed - while running the evening train on my layout, the loco lost one of its traction tires and I just can´t get it back again! It´s really not a big issue, but it is the last drop making the bucket flow over! I am pretty much fed up by having to tinker with those Bemo locos all the time to keep them running. I am not the only one complaining about the poor built quality of that stuff - splitting gears, brittle plastic, detail parts breaking of, noisy gears, paint that rubs off, decals that fade - this list is endless. Compared to my old Marklin electric loco, Bemo locos are just a piece of beep (expletive, deleted)! The Marklin loco is like new, rock-solid, nothing fading, rubbing off, breaking apart!
I will be disposing of the layout and all of that stuff soon - another lesson learned - stay with the trusted things! I have to add that I bought my first Bemo Swiss narrow gauge loco 40 years ago and sold it in disgust - for the same reasons. They have not learned a thing when it comes to quality!
I am angry!
On the bright side, the last two pieces of track I need for the tiny Z scale layout have arrived. The two pcs. of uncoupling track have a regular retail price of over $50 and I got them for $18 - brand new and not a flake of dust on the box! That makes me happy!
Contsruction of the layout will start soon - my friend Claus is all itchy to help me with the "benchwork"
I am more than worried about our friend Galaxy. He has been away a number of times, but never that long. My email to him is yet unanswered. I hope his OK.
That´s all from me for the moment, I will just sit here at the RC, looking out of the window, watching the switcher switch.
You know, it's been 9 days since anyone has filed an RA for a rules violation on the Forums. That must be close to a record. I feel like I should buy everyone or something, like I used to do back at the newspaper when we went a month without a correction.
GARRY,
So very sorry to hear about your Mother. She has done well up to now, has she not ?. That is indeed a ripe old age.
We pray for her comfort and healing. Blessings to all.

Janie, just a refill for my decaf please....
Been a long, long day. Except for a few minutes outside to do the trimming around poles, trees, shed, house, and garden beds with the string trimmer, I have been sitting here at the computer finishing the program for the Scholarship Dinner a week from today and going through, selecting, and editing photos (a few hundred of them) from the March and Service last January so I can spend another 20 or so hours in tyhe next few days putting together this years slide show that we play during the Dinner for folks.
Just found out that the extra meals that we ordered are almost sold out. this will be the biggest attendance ever for the event. This is also the 25th. year we have been doing this. We will have about 170 people at the dinner.
Garry, so very sorry to hear about your Mom falling! Do know you and your whole family are in my prayers during this difficult time... Hoping they can be successful in making her comfortable. That has to be terribly painful for her!
Have a good night everyone!
Evening All.
A cup o' mud and irish it up, please. Another, at least, 12 hour day for me here at IAD. Working these long hours is getting old mighty fast.
Garry - I am sorry to hear about your Mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
YGW - thanks for the PM. Sounds like Saturday was a fun time had by all. Looking forward to reading the information. Sorry have not had a chance to answer back; working on Monday and another long day yesterday and today.
Greetings to the rest of the gang. Needed back on the field.
All the best.
