Late evening"on the road" - so I don't have acces to the reply sitting in my WORD fle back home. That will have to wait. Barry I'm glad you're alive and kicking. The leg insult (old world meaning there) is one you didn't need.
Went to the old LHS and scored some Z track for the tourist N3n line, and a couple of cars a covered hopper and I'm not clear on the other. Just need to build the fleet back - but it's compatible with posible industries. Thought there was also some cork road bed - but it was HO filed under N

Since I appear to be here for awhile I also got a whole lot of hobby related stuff to work on. Audrey came up with some rr planning books for me plus my laptop and MIDI keyboard to get something down on.
Doctors did say that I have a lot of fluid around my lungs/heart as they looked at my chest X-ray. No farging wonder I was so fatigued. My shin has a couple of bone fragments bouncing around where I took the shelf whacking.
Hopefully nothing else will show up.

Evenin' folks!
Janioe, a large pot of my finest French Roast Decaf Coffee and a couple of my R&GV RR Mugs tonight. I'll take everything to the room off to the side and asit with Barry for a while!
You know, you are the only person I know who broke a bone in the hospital! I have known many people to end up IN the hospital after they broke a bone... My own Mother managed to break her hip, then fall, and spent the next couple of weeks ion the hosp[ital before they got her into the nursing home... But you! You go to the hosp[ital and then break your leg.... I dunno about you, my friend! I am keeping you in my prayers for quick healing and recovery. Who knows in a coupl years I might get back up your way for a NMRA convention again and we can get together for a couple hours. I still have mug shpot of you on my hard drive.......
I shoveled and used the little snow blower for several hours today. By 3PM the driveway on the East side of my house is now completely done. Even got the block of ice chopped down to size and removed by the mailbox! Also made a run to the Pharmosy for Blackie's insulin, mailed a couple items at the post office, and went over to the vets, not once, but twice today. First time was on my way to the pharmosy to pick up a case of canned food for the boys. Second time was after I got an email from my SIL letting me know that my sister once agian can't seem to count and we are two cans shy of running out of Canned food for her kitties. My sister copmes home Friday, but won't be able to get to her vets for more food (here's are on the Urniary tact formula that mine used to be on) until Monday! They are also out of Kittie Litter (I already bought two 24lb containers for them...). Again my sister is basically clueless about these type of things. She can't actually sit down and figure out how much her kitties need to go a month and have it in stock. She claims to be the really bright one in the family BTW.... So I ended up going to the vet again and bought 3 cans to get her through the weekend. Then went over to Tops Market for more kitty litter. I think this time I shall present my sister a bill for the amount of $$$ I have spent out of my pocket to have the privelige to drive to Canandaigua and take care of her cats... Good thing I like the kitties!
OK, enough of the rant. I baked some cookies tonight to have for the Troop/Pack officers and the Scout Executives when We meet here on Friday. Oh!!!! Guess what is now glued in place on the layout??? Aw... You guessed!~
Is it my imagination or does the width of the forum keep getting narrower and narrower every few weeks or so???? If you want to see a viewable photo of the work I just posted, just click on them and they will come up at the size I saved them at Photobucket!
Hope all of you have a good, safe, and peaceful night! Prayers for all of you in need...

Hi guys
Weather is still staying comfortable rather than red hot
Well I don't have a video link show on my screne from sir madoc's post so can't comment.
But I think a coffee to start.
Well I will be off line most of next week heading to the big smoke for a pre opp exam at long last so thats one frustration out of the way.
Then early March the big opp a corneal graft.
This will be the last of three Eye opp's the last two where complicated cateract ops so took two hours instead of the usual twenty minutes or there abouts.
Will be glad when its all over and I can get back to doing propper modelling. Instead of only doing the big part bits
I will be able to get the full compliment of glasses instead of only one pair for distance vision not helpfull for modeling.
Which is close up work even for big bits.
So I think spoiling John time Apple pie with cloves and cream thanks.
Hopefully when that lots over I can get some short sharp points and start on the Narrow gauge layout
The wood and other stuff for bench work now has quite a layer of dust on it, as I wasn't game to try using power tools
Not looking forward to the Honey do list, I know that's mostly small anoying jobs that should have done ages ago nothing particularly interesting unfortunatly.
regards John
Good morning ...
Oatmeal and OJ please.
Ray ..... the bridge scene looks great .
We arrived home late last night. I drove 625 miles yesterday without breaking the a mirror.
Below is the broken mirror immediately after it happened in Louisville last week. Workers left a sign with its metal legs in the left traffic lane. I tried to avoid it, but could not move far enough to my right with vehicles in the right hand lane which were crowding into my lane. Had I braked too abruptly, I would have been hit from the rear. At first, I thought it would hit the windshield, but I moved over enough to prevent that.

Ummm...Garry: did the face plate at the front of the mirror got knocked off or did that poor thing get the holes punched in? I am surprised it did not knock the mirror clean off!!!
Oh...and Ray: IIRC I told you the tale of the Starbuck's downtown here and how I got some lady so miffed at me that I got hmmmmpphed by her? And how the friend with me blew out coffee out of his nose at her response?
Well I also had someone come up to a window we were looking out from and yell at me..."I am not a goat!!"
Good Morning
Good ol' breakfast here. Orange juice, cheerios, toast with jam and a regular, good!, coffee as well as my banana and apple. Y'know? Things you could identify as food?
My day nurse told me it was near 0F this morning when she got in...now it is just 8F going to 28F later on....
Oh...now they are getting me ready for my MRI's ....have a good one!!
John good news, hope you are seeing well again real soon.
My son drove over for dinner last night from DC. Got stuck in traffic so we didn't eat till 8 pm, not good for someone with reflux. Tossed and turned even though I was sleeping on bunches of pillows, tasting the red onion sauce on my burger.
The dog came up immediately after breakfast and I was still in bed. He usually noses me but today he decided to head butt me then promptly threw up.

Barry and Garry, thank you for your kind words... I do think the project will turn out well.
Currently 18°F outside (10°F with the wind chill) but with a nice bit of bright sunshine. Tomorrow should be considerably warmer, up into the mid 30's they say. Saturday mid 40s and then a bit of colder temperatures next week. The couple inches of sn*w that fell over night are melting off of the driveway and I hope the panels on the roof!
Have to do major house cleaning today and tomorrow morning for the meeting tomorrow night. Don't want to gross out all the ladies coming to the house. Or the gentlemen for that matter. Also have to drive to Canandaigua to take care of the kitties there and get everything ready for my sister's arrival from Phnom Penh. Yep part of her trip was to Cambodia. Her flight will leave Phnom Penh late this afternoon and she will arrive at JFK tomorrow morning and then be in Rochester mid afternoon. I will chaufeur her to her house and then head home for the meeting. I figure I have spent about $70 out of pocket to take care of her kitties while she has been gone....
Best get busy! Catch you all later.
Good morning, all. Time for a cup of tea.
We had a six hour drive in the snert, the stuff you get the day after a snow with tons and tons of salt dumped on the highway. Ran the wipers almost all day as it either rained or was just nasty with road spray. Sounds like we may have another snowy mix this weekend.
Had an interesting conversation with daughter after she returned from the Olympics marathon trials. She had VIP seating at the finish line thanks to her job as executive director of Road Runners Clubs of America. She has become acquainted with all the top marathoners in the USA. Unfortunately for her she returned with the flu. Hope my vaccination wards it off for me.
We are off this weekend to pick up a new rescue airedale in Little Rock, AR, one of our previous homes. Adele is a two year old that came into rescue after severe flooding in Mississippi this fall. She was in a shelter and never claimed. Looking forward to having a "buddy" to walk with.
Need to finish up the demo on the road bed that is not going to work and layout new roadbed for the entry into planned yard. I am trying to do the entry on a curved section of track using no. 5 turnouts (26 inch radius curve for a no. 5 turnout).
Well, its time to accompany MOH to the grocery store. I need some different assortment of cereal for breakfasts. MOH hardly ever eats cereal so it is my choice.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
Jim
Good morning, everyone! Kind of seasonable weather today, just about freezing but with clear skies. I still see no "bad" weather in the forecast through the end of the month.
Today I get my phone interview for long-term-care insurance. My wife's got hers, but I had trouble with the medical last time. My blood pressure was too high. It puzzled me for a while, but then I realized that I always had done physicals in the late afternoon after work, and that reading had been taken in the morning. Yup. Coffee will raise your blood pressure about 10 points, so this time I skipped the coffee and my BP ended up where it should.
Yes, I still do trains!
This is the first photo I've taken for a while. These are a pair of City Classics "Company Houses." There's a third one "across the street." I love kits like this. Each one is a little different, with or without sheds off the back. I customized the second-floor porch on the left with some parts-box stuff, and added illumination and various "window treatments" to each of the buildings.
Best of luck to all of you who must deal with hospital food. My wife went to a nutrition lecture yesterday, so my daughter and I went out to a new local restaurant for beef and beer.

Still fighting with the mortgage company over getting credited properly for the EXTRA $1241.27 PRINCIPLE ONLY payment we sent in Dec 20, arrived Dec. 27, 2015! WE have more to send extra, but NOT UNTIL they credit the account properly, and meanwhile we are accumulating interest on the INCORRECT BALANCE. I Think Franklin American Mrotgage Company is OUR BOS to Ken's BOS {BOA}..... Called the originator of the mortgage, he will help, but I gave FAM until Friday to get it corrected, and as of yet today, thursday, they haven't. I alerted her to the fact that if NOT done by then, I'd be forced to contact my ATTorney GEneral's office about mis-management of the mortgage funds and account, and anyone else I could about it.

Good Afternoon Diners,
Weather seems to be good here this week, considering that it's February.
Went to the Chicago Auto Show last weekend with MOH, son, and DIL. It's sort of a family tradition. Of course, I had to see the high priced cars. But, I was also looking at the stuff I could maybe actually afford. Not sure whether that means I'm growing up or just resigned myself to defeat.
Anyway, had a fun time.
Ray: that's a very nice bridge. One assumes the tracks will eventually go somewhere. Seriously, that's excellent modeling.
Mr. B: You're right. Having variations in what is essentially the same structure makes it far more interesting.
YGW: I'm hanging in there although I'm pretty busy at work, etc. Hope all is well for you.
Hello to everyone, and I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Nice sunny day out here...but ccold.
Got the MRI'S done so now I am having some more visitors here, lol!!
Anyway. Have a good afternoon!!!
Jim. does your route to Little Rock take you through western KY? If you have time to stop to see model railroads let me know?
Garry, I am going through Nashville on my way to I-40. I think you are farther west near the lakes. Is that correct?
Good Evening!
Not a good day, this day. I am feeling miserable and have been battling this feeling all day long. Well, tomorrow is another day ...
Good night!
JAMES MOON Garry, I am going through Nashville on my way to I-40. I think you are farther west near the lakes. Is that correct? Jim
Jim. That is correct. An alternative route would be to get off I65 at Elizabethtown and take KY parkways to the lakes area where we are and then head southwest toward Memphis. It would be easier for you to look at maps than for me to explain . We are where US 68 crosses through Land Between the Lakes. ..
Afternoon Dinners
Flo,
Right now I am PO'ed by my LHS! I was taking a breather from working in the backyard. Called my LHS and asked if they had a DH165LO decoder. I was told "Yes, we have one left"! Droped what I was doing and jumped in the car and headed right over! Got there and told Tom I was there for a DH165LO I called about. Told me this is the replacment for the DH165LO, and handed me a DH165AO? Not the same decoder, I did not ask for what replaced the DH165LO!
How do you folks wash your dishes by hand? Wife got me PO'ed when I got home! Seems I am doing the dishes wrong and I am going to get us all sick!
I knock off the big stuff left on the plate, sock in hot water for say 3 mintues to a hour. (depending on what I have to do at the time) Wash them, places in risnes water for a few minutes, then into the drying rack. Next I dry them with a towel and put them away.
Sue says I need to scrub them clean with a brush, under running water, then wash them? Now I am not leaving hucks of food on the plates, just some sauce.
Later Ken

Evening Diners,
Popped in to say hi. It's been extremely hot today with some clouds at 83 degrees. I'm going to try to get a haircut sometime tomorrow thru Tuesday.
Ken- I wash dishes by hand, (dishwasher broke 5 years ago). My dad washes them wrong because there's still food particles on them.

Janie, just a refill of my decaf please....
Hand washing dishes??? There are several good accepted ways I have been taught over the past 40 years with the Scouts... One way is to scrape and pre-rinse the dishes, then wash with a dishcloth or scrubber in hot soapy water, then either they are dunked in a large pot of boiling water (netting is used for that) or dunked in hot water containing bleach. The dishes are hung up to air dry in the netting... Very sanitary! For home I use basically the same method except I pre-rinse the dishes after scraping, then into the hot soapy water to be scubbed with a scrubber, then they are rinsed under hot running water and set into the tray to airdry. One thing you don't want to do is dry them with a dirty towel..... Oh, and never "places in risnes warter", whatever that is? (Sorry, I just couldn't help myself...)
Dug out as much of the ice blocking the walk from where I will park tomorrow to the porch at my sister's house today when I was there. Both kitties were glad to see me. I have really fallen in love with her new kittie. He is such a nice cat! they are both sweeties that I would take home with me in a minute!
Tomorrow morning I have to finish cleaning up the dining room/office area, then head to Rochester airport to chauffeur my sister back to her house. Try to get away from her house ASAP and then bet back to get things ready for about 7 or 8 people to show up here for a meeting for the Scout Pack and Troop Committee...
May or may not get online before I have to leave for Rochester.
Have a great night! Prayers for all in need...
Ken ... At least you can drive to an LHS not too far from home. There are none close to me.
YGW ... Still concerned about your SIL. You mentioned brain damage. How much is she affected with that ?
I'd like to help you guys with the correct way to do the dishes, but I've been told I'm doing it wrong by SWMBO. A few weeks back, she issued an edict that she would do "her" dishes and I would do "my" dishes. I think she was unhappy because too many unwashed dishes were filling the sink. I agreed immediately. I honestly don't think she realized that she generates way more dishes than I do, and most of the unwashed dishes are hers.
I went out to hear some music tonight. I enjoyed myself, but I had to stand for an hour and a half (with a beer in my hand, at least) because the place was packed.
Beer and pretzels please Brunhilda,
Washing dishes - ARGHH. My wife has a dishwasher and its really very good at what it does - but she insists on washing everything before she puts them in there.
My job, thankfully, is getting the stuff out of the dishwasher and putting them in the proper place. Even that is risky - make sure its all in its "proper place".
I said in an earlier post that she bought me a "kitchen-aid" mixer. But what does she use to mix anything - a hand mixer. Go figure.
Looking forward to the "Disney Trip".
Chris.

Sit back and enjoy your track...
Used to have a Maytag dishwasher, traded it in for a pair of Chesapeake portable dishwashers. I use Hooper for pre-wash, and Shelby for pot scrub, they do an excellent job.
I have always washed under running hot water with a stainless steel scrubbing pad, and a sponge loaded with dish soap.
In the service we had three galvanized garbage cans filled with water, and each had a submersable oil fired heater that kept the water boiling. The first had a brew of soap and bleach, a long handled brush to scrub with, and the remaining two just had boiling clear water to rinse with. Woe be unto thee if your mess kit was not clean. A four hour stint guarding the latrine would insure a clean mess kit after the next meal.

I do not know where all of these dirty dishes have come from. The LION does dishes on Sunday. That is others do the dishes on other days.
People bring their trays with their dishes on them to the dishroom window. LIONbangs the big stuff off into the garbage or into the insinkerator. Trays are stacked by the window until they are 9 high, and then put into a rack and fed into the washer, Plates are placed in the racks right away until there are 18 of them, and then these are fed into the washer. Cups and Glases go into the racks on the right of the insinkerator, flatware (nobody would sall the stuff silver around here) are tossed into a bucket. Little dishes, bowls and plates are sorted piles according to their orientation, and then racked and washed after all of the trays are in. Cups and then Classes are washed, and finally the Flatware is dumped into a rack and shoved through the machine. Once this rack comes out I turn off the machine, hose down the counters, clean the traps in the dishwasher (a fairly big Hobard commercial machine). I then sort the flatware into individual baskets, fighting end up, and turning on the dishwasher again, run them through a second time. They are then turned handle end up and brought out to the serving line. The other dishes, trays and stuff are placed where they belong, but the cups and glasses remain in their racks in the dishroom until they are fully dry and then someone else will take them back to the dining room.
Other people do the pots and pans, also called "kettles". We do not hire dish washers but we do hire cooks. Cooks are responsible for cleaning all sharp knives, and all stationary equipment that they use, such as the range, the ovens, grills mixers and etc. We have no deep fryer anymore. Not good for you, ewe know.
Now, where did I park my train?

Good Morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have an extra large cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.
We too, have a dish washer. Haven't used it in 10 years or more. Since our son has grown and is on his own, we just don't have that many dishes to wash. The dishwasher is now used for storage of what else, dishes.
We generally rinse the crud off the dishes, then let them soak for several minutes in the suds until the water cools to the point we can stick our hands in it. Then we wash with sponge/pad combo sponges, rinse in warm running water, and place in dish rack to air dry. Then we use a towel reserved exclusively for drying dishes to touch up any remaining water drops and put away on the shelf.
Good morning ...... Coffee and a doughnut, please .
Dishwashers? ... We don't often talk about them. ... There is something to be said for paper plates, I suppose. .... Diners have run out of cats to talk about.
Ken ... Although not your B&O Geep, you might like this drawing.
Also, Ken ..... A shortline in WV has preserved B&O units. I don't recal the name of the shortline, but they do operate tourist trains.
cudakenHow do you folks wash your dishes by hand?
I mostly use the dishwasher, but when I wash by hand, it is a four step process--Scrape and rinse the dish completely (not in the wash or rinse water); Wash the dish in hot water with detergent and a brush; Rinse in hot water; Drip dry.
If you want the sanctioned way to wash dishes, you can follow the National Food Service Management Institute guidelines. A couple of items of note--
Richard
