I was just paging through the latest Walthers Sale Flyer and noticed some big discounts on some of their passenger cars. For instance five varieties of Pullman heavyweights in the gray pool service scheme selling for $27.00 ea. or smooth-side 10-6 for $16 (that's about what the trucks alone sell for!) or a troop sleeper converted to express car for $21.

Past experience suggests that a merely "nice" deal in a Walthers flyer is just that, a nice deal (e.g. their annual track sale), but a really great deal or seemingly almost giving it away type deal on one of Walthers' own products is a good signal that the item in question is likely to be dropped from the active catalog, at least for a while.

An obvious reminder, but if it doesn't say Sale before the price (normally in red), then that's full Walthers MSRP, and you can invariably do better elsewhere.When the red prices show up, that's when you should take a look.
ndbprrOr it didn't sell. Walthers pricing has always confused me. P.13 has four ore cars for $79.98. I paid $45 for a 12 pack when they first came out. Now that would be $239.94 at these prices. That is a 600% increase with no inflation and oil and subsequently plastic prices dropping. I am obviously missing something.
This drove me nuts with the Superliners. They jumped around $30 in price in three years for the same exact product. That's...a bit more than increased oil prices or whatever.
