I hate this hobby because it is too much fun.

My Layout Photos- http://s1293.photobucket.com/user/ajwarshal/library/
Reason #13 My skills aren't as good as all those other guys that post on here.
Reason #14 I procrastinate too much to even begin building a layout, therefore hampering the polishing of my skills.
That dust on those boxes have an added cost for a reason......pre-weathered models!
Luckily at the LHS that I used to visit back in PA, he had Athearn and Roundhouse rolling stock kits in the $6 to $8 range....and they were even clean.

Hey, I'm going on a cruise in a couple of weeks... Awesome... Nothing like a little paranoia to start your vacation!
Anyhow, here's the top 10 reasons why I hate this hobby:

Run Eight Reason Number 12. AMEN!!! Fight Back, Buy American By Americans. Wilde Tool company, Hiawatha, Kansas. The grump with dust on his merchandise, sounds like the grump in Witchita, Kansas. Too, much trouble for him to get off rear and stop looking at porn on his in store computer, to look up a item in inventory, for a customer. Being nice about it to his greatness. No need to do business with such a retailer.

I understood it all along, Rich, but wanted to post a firm statement and be lazy at the same time...I didn't wan't to have to think up of reasons why I hated the hobby because it would have been artificial and dishonest.
Okay, I admit it did come off sounding like I was a wet rag.....

This thread was started strictly in jest to counter the recent threads that find fault with the hobby.
You need to read between the lines to interpret my original post correctly.

You make it sound like a bad thing! A lot of folks here would just love to have $500 a month to spend on any hobby, myself included! Heck, we could manage a brass engine once in a while with that kind of money to play with!
cold stealThe world would be a better place if I could get a loco to run thru an atlas switch without stalling.
An SD45, SD40-2 or tunnel motor ought to do the trick!

Are we talking real dust here or scale dust? I have plenty of real dust but have not been able to find any good scale dust anywhere in a long time.

Never cared for ZZ that much, maybe a couple of songs.

Yes,that's my line every time I find tiny screws between the 6 axle trucks and fuel tank that's hard to get to..
That's my line when I'm down on all fours looking for a tiny part that ends up defying the law of gravity by landing 5 feet away from where it fell..

Reason 13(b)(iii): Having had reasonable success at trying to corner the Fuji War Bonds market by nefarious fair means, I am now appalled that absolutely no one will accept them as legal tender or even as an exchange for a $5000+ brass steamer. Cheers, the Bear.
JaBear continues to to defame the good name of Fuji, knowing full well that it is Fiji that has issued War Bonds to finance it campaign against Tuvalu.
No wonder no one will accept his "war bonds" as legal tender.
Maybe Reason 13 why I hate this hobby should be JaBear's misleading replies to my well meaning forum posts.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I spent most of my money on women and beer. The rest I just wasted.

I could go to a movie almost every night. ( Most movies are junk)
I could eat out more often ( the restuarants don't exactly use the most healthy stuff)
I could save up for a home theater ( I'll become a couch potato )
I could collect NASCAR diecast cars ( this could work out )
I could buy a top of the line quadcopter ( I can see myself getting into some serious trouble here )
I could buy a BMW (plenty of people have BMW's so I would not be so special)
Please don't take any of my comments seriously, I'm just having fun here.

Lets not get carried away with this clean living thing, a man has got to have a little fun..............
Keeping clear of, "Sigareets and whiskey and wild, wild wimmen," not only kept me from going crazy, it left me with enough money to buy model railroad stuff. Of course, the pounding roar of low-cutoff steam exhaust probably did drive me insane.
(In Japan, railfans are called, "Railroad maniacs." Hmmm...)
Ah yep! As the late Marshall Sam McCloud would say "Hey, now there ya go!"
All kidding aside, I like this hobby more than ever (inspite of preordering, outsourcing, and the consequential high prices).
I tend to overlook small discrepancies, but in defense of our "rivet counting" brethren, we should keep in mind that it's because of them that we have beautiful plastic models with detailing and drives that rival or sometimes beat 1990s production brass models that came with $500-$1000 price tags .
gmpullman AntonioFP45 The toilet seat backs inside the new HO passenger car bathrooms are a scale .0005" inches too tall and no one will correct it! Hey, Antonio Don't I recall a batch of passenger cars that really did have the toilet seats glued onto the wrong side of the bowl (hopper) ?? Harrumph, indeed! Perhaps reason 13 should be that the rivet counters pick apart every new release from a manufacturer and scare off potential sales. Have FUN, Ed
