Ben, you'll probably get quite a few views--the first time. After that, I imagine most people will be less likely to open any topic you post. Just a friendly thought.

Guys!

Please.........lighten up on Ben a little. He's still relatively new here. Besides, with all commotion about the election and terrorism we can use a little "light hearted" relief every now and then.

As he reads and participates he'll "mesh right in" with the rest of us.

Seriously, Ben. Would you be willing to answer a few of the questions that I posted above?

yeah...besides if you read half the stuff we're posting as "responsible forum citizens" this would be nothing out of the ordinary practical joke...although since the title wasn't train related, or any subject related for that matter, I, in my infinate wisdom, should have passed it on. But then I couldn't have written this, could I?

Cool! Way to go![4:-)][tup]

How long and wide is your new layout? Though I model HO, the one thing that I really like enjoy about N scale is that you can run some really long freight trains on many track plans.

More questions: Are you modeling a time period or keeping it generalized? Is there a particular railroad that you're modeling?

Hey my layout is 6 x 3 plenty of room for N scale. Im not modeling any time period exactly but i like the newer deisels so everything will probly fit in with that. Im making up my one railroad, somthing that goes through a prettey big mountain.

Well, well, well. A 6X3 n scale layout. Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, me! Well Ben I guess we have to show everyone what we can do with our mediocre sized layouts, I personally like to think big and not be limited by the size. Yes, I`m still talking about my train layout. Another friendly word of advice, beware of Bachmann N products. They aren`t that good.

I've heard the exact opposite for Bachmann Spectrum series steam locos. I'm buying two of the Consolidations based on what I've read from people who've tried them.

Another word of advice, get a second opinion about nearly everything you read here. Opinions vary.

True, I have heard that the steam locos are better. I have some diesels, -840cs to be exact, that all fell apart. Never read much good about Bachmann products. I will change my advice to be cautious instead. As somebody new to the hobby, at least I assume Ben is, its good to know what runs the best or you can get discouraged fast.

WOW

Look at how some people overeacted.

This joke is nothing I wouldn't do, and I have five stars-

I thought It was rwally fun, And i'm a person who likes Railway topics- and look at me, just couldn't resist.

Thought maybe i would see some women or somehting.

I have one word to say to myself, and it looks somehting similar to SHIP.

Good joke, that was a five star Joke-

Oh and ask any conductor (ask me.. ha! if you can't take a joke, your best to not work with me!) of a Railway line how much they joke between themselves- You'd be surprised, if were not doing serious work, were always pulling each other's legs.

So lighten up, and don't Crucify someone for a good joke. The relavence police should be fired, because they aren't needed... don't let them show up around here, because they will hear from me, in not such a nice way.

Thanks for the kind encouragement, Dgoodlander!

Ben, just curious. Since you enjoy mountains, does your track plan include a helix (I think that's what it's called) through the mountain? I'm referring to where a long freight train enters one tunnel portal and then exits another tunnel portal that's below the first one. The engine crew can look "back and up" and see the last cars of their long train. This would really be impressive in an N-scale layout! I saw this on a PBS special on Candian Pacific Railroading. Mind blowing! I've seen many N-scale layouts in past MRR issues but have not seen one yet featuring this type of tunnel trackage.

What type of industries will you have on your layout? Any passenger service?

One more thing. You say you have a 3x6. Do you have the space to make it a little longer? Let's say to 8 or even 10 ft. long?

10-4! [:D]

I have a quastion for you antonioFP45 I would like too know the same things about your layout that i told you about mine, and i bought a life-like brand freight car today for 5 dollers is this a good deal?

Thanx for answering

O.K Ben.

Into HO since the 1970s. Had a brass track 4x8 layout years ago built with my late dad's help. Scrapped it. Have had two shelf layouts since. [;)]

New Layout plan: Will be a 5 ft x 14ft. Two track mainline code 83
Time Period: 1965-71
Theme area: U.S East Coast
Setting: Mid-sized town (Walther's Cornerstone series and DPM kits)
Rail Service: Local freight, Long distance freight, Passenger
Main Road: Seaboard Coast Line (locomotives from other roads will appear occasionally)

Industries: Frozen food plant, Purina feed mill, Warehouse, small Lumber yard.

(These companies will utilize: Reefers, Covered Hoppers, Boxcars, and Flatcars) On a layout you want to put in industries that utilize your favorite freight cars.[swg]

Passenger Trains: SCL "Silver Series" trains and New Haven commuter.

Special Feature: Diesel Locomotive Service Facility (Walther's kit). Will include interior (tool boxes, machine presses, office furniture) with lighting.

Locomotive fleet: Athearn Cowls and U-Boats, P2K E units, P2K EMD hood units, Model Power E units, Atlas FP7s and Geeps.

Freight cars: Athearn Blue Box and MDC kits. Have replaced nearly all plastic wheels with P2K metal wheels sets.

Passenger Cars: (Traded in all Athearn shorties) Have Rivorossi and Walthers 85 ft. streamlined cars. Also E&B Valley New Haven streamlined commuter cars.

Re: $5 for your freight car? Not bad.[;)] Try and stick with quality brands as you progress.

Hope you enjoy this hobby. Keep posting! [swg][tup] Good to share the hobby and learn from each other![:)][:D][8D][;)]

Cheers and High Greens!
