Not much business today for Vinnie and the girls, I am afraid.
Well, I´ll be calling it a day!
Good Night, everyone!
Been to the docs office and back home again. I have an appointment to go back there on Sept 8th. Got then package with the two drive cards this morning. I just tested them and they both work great. So they both will go into the parts drawer.

Good News and Bad News today.
Good News Seems I lost another 2 pounds! I have now lost around 10 pounds in the last 6 weeks or so. Main thing I have done is cut out bread and foods with a lot of carbs in it. Pretty much the only bread I eat is Texas Toast and not that often.
Bad News I feel bad today. Still dealing with the urinary infection. While I was out today I bought Diet Cramberry Juices and a Carmberry Supplment.
I was hoping to BBQ tonight but just not up to it. Bought a instead. Candian Bacon and Mushroom.
Wife told me a couple had just walked by walking a Irish Wolfhound. I got out to late to see it. All it did was to make me sad thinking of my girl's I have lost.
Thinking of and missing Sonya and Shaddy.

Good evening. It's a balmy 77° here with 91% humidity. Showers and thunderstorms are likely. 70% chance. Plugged in my tablet and video camera so they can both charge. When I came home today I went over to how my neighbor, the fire fighter is doing with his bathroom remodel. I stepped onto the back porch just in time to hear him find his thumb with the hammer, multiple times. He let go with a string of expletives that would crumble the facade of any of the local churches. There's no shortage of those here. I browsed through the phone book one day and found nearly two hundred churches and I wasn't even looking hard. From what I gathered from the neighbor he was planning on installing the water heater and the tub today. I wished him good luck and went on my merry way.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.Does something at the left side of this photo look familiar?
Terry - That's very impressive. I like the looks of it.

Janie, just a refill for my decaf please.
I'm just sitting here waiting for the computer to finish backing up everything to the "Time Machine". Ended up buying a new back up drive for it. The old one had the "guaruntee" run out back in March, so I should have known. Took it over to the Mac Store near Victor, told the guy that it failed being erased, and he looked up the drive in my account, found it was out of waruntee, put it back in the box I brought it in and took me over to counter with new drives.... Got a Toshiba 2 tB drive that set me back about $200 including the tax, that should last as long as my current iMac, I hope.
Jeffrey, only thing I recognize in the photo is your old cupboards.... I dunno.
Went over to my son's house for dinner tonight. First time I have seen the Granddaughters in over 2 weeks. Got lots of hugs, I did! They all are very happy I was able to get the "Hostage Ware" off their computer. Been working fine since I had him run through the procedure. A lot less expensive than taking it into the shop! My son is looking forward to both girls being in school all day. Hopefully he can get a bit more done around the house on his days off from work. Might even het a couple days of fishing in this fall.
Only have 41,400 more files to back up.... Catch you all in the morning, "God willing and the creek don't rise..."

Ken ... Glad you are losing weight. Continue towards your goal. I hope the infection clears very soon. I know what you mean about pets who have passed away, but it is good to have the memories and the photos of them.
Terry ... I really like seeing photos of your layout. Your layout room appears to be neat and tidy. The scenery on the layout is very good. .... I clicked on your photobucket link. Outstanding!
YGW ... Regarding your comment about two sides. I really don't think of it that way in many cases. Basically, I am skeptical all of the time. I am suspicious when I hear things for the first time. Usually, I simply reject what I hear and move on. Sometimes, I try to verify what I hear, and decide if it is worthwhile. The internet often can be the worst source of "information". ... Some of my attitude may be from my background. I have prepared budgets for big companies and department heads were always trying to inflate their needs. ... I do encourage people to be skeptics, and I beleive skepticism should be taught in schools. I say that because America is shifting from the land of the free to the land of the bamboozzled. Most people believe malarkey continuously. ... They should never buy snake oil, but they do.
Jeff ... I like seeing your old layout photos. I can tell you enjoy model railroading. Interesting about so many churches. There are many here too; mostly Southern Baptist. ...... When we first moved to KY, we asked for directions, and the reply was: " Go past the corner where the red barn used to be, and turn right after passing the fifth Baptist church. " ..... Actually that was better than when in Arkansas, I was told: "Jest go down yonner."
Ray .... Be glad your grand daughters live as close as they do. We have six Grand Kids and they they live 300 to 600 miles from us.
JeremyB ... Feel better soon .
Having just returned from AL, I'm now getting ready to go to Michigan in a few days.

It is real sunny right now but heavy black clouds rolling in and expect rain all afternoon.
TERRY, I love your pix of those GP30s, they are my all time favorite locos. They really look tough and mean business. That is a wonderful layout, I am always taken back to my days of travelling through your beautiful State,>>>So you have done it right.
JEFF, Sorry to hear of the new (all) medical issues. You are a tough ol' Gator and have shown us that many times. You will do it again and with a smile to boot. I'm pulling for you.
ULRICH, I worry about your reoccuring issues, please stay on top of them and get all the help you need. Don't stress over the layout, you have proven what you can accomplish and yoou will again in a fashion that will work for the space you have. just look at some of the beautiful scenes Terry has on those very narrow shelves in some areas.
Vincent & Jeremy, hope you are both feeling better today. There really is a lot of strange viruses and infections going around these days.
A hearty Hi There to all the missing in action, hope you are all OK, and doing fine. You are really missed here. From one coast to the other, tell us where you are and what's going on.
Most of my spare time lately has been spent working on our fifth wheel trailer that has taken on some major water damage. It is a 1993 model and because of that, if I made an insurance claim I believe they would just write it off. So I decided to do the work myself as the rest of the unit is like new. I also have three families that want to buy it when I get done if I so wish.
However, last evening I did change out a set of trucks (both) on a chemical tanker and took it down to the LM&E. and put on some miles before heading to bed.
I work this afternoon and tomorrow then off for two. hope the weather will be good to get more done on the fiver.
Have a great week-end Gang, drive safe, and enjoy..

Hi there!
It´s been a drab day here. Just gray, with lots of wet stuff coming down. I spend a few hours in front of the idiot box, watching a triple feature on Indian narrow gauge railways. The first part was on the Kamla - Shimla line, built by the Brits in the late 1890´s to reach their "Hill Station" in Simla, where the Colonial Government resided during the hot summer months. The second part portrayed the Kangra Valley Railway, again built by the Brits. The third part showed the MAtheran Hill Railway, a mountain railway to a resort town up in the hills, where rich people from Mumbai (Bombay) spend relaxing weekends in the cool mountain air. This is the one and only line not initiated by the British, but some wealthy rajah wanting to have a more comfortable way up there.
Watching these films made me forget my nagging back pain that started this morning. No MRRing today, not even making any plans...
Have a happy weekend!

Good afternoon. It's 74° with 100% humidity and rain. Moderate to heavy rains are falling across southeast Texas and southern Louisiana this morning. Storms are moving to the north northeast. Expected to see two inches most locations. with Running a bit late today as my schedule is off due to my recent surgery. My normal schedule will resume Monday. I have no plans for today so it looks like I'll be watching TV, playing computer games and listening to the rain hitting the roof.

Hi Garry, and thanks for the pix.
I have seen these in person a number of times. Not sure exactly how many of them the G.N. had. It is a Western Flyer that has been stretched and I can't remember if it is another drive axle or just a tag they have put under it, from this shot it looks like another drive axle.. When I was with Greyhound we had them done both ways. Over the years I have bid on a few trips that they were scheduled on. They were orginially designed here to run between Edmonton and Whitehorse, Yukon, approx a 1300 mile run. But ours were always remade MCI.s. MC5s, MC7s, MC8, and I believe a couple of MC9s as well. although I could stand to be corrected on that last one.The ones Great Northern had were rear barn doors that opened, ours with the MCIs were side doors to the cargo area.
You are right, they were called "Brucks", but also "Combos".
Always loved those G.N. colors, the sky blue didn't cut it to my liking.

Closest thing to that here is a small bus that belongs to one of the churches in town. It looks like a Doodlebug.
Got this on the Weather Alert:Flash flood watch until midnight CDT tonight* Average total rain amounts of two inches will be possible through this evening...with isolated amounts up to four inches possible.Precautionary/preparedness actions...A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.Last major flash flood we had here was around Christmas in 1986. Flood waters were twelve feet deep. Six inches more and there would have been water in my parents house. To get to me here it would have to be MUCH deeper, say about thirty feet and I just can't see that happening.
Afternoon,Diners. Sun came out. Finally. Still only65f.

Evening all,
It's the weekend, so we had to find some time to get in some railfanning, and we did. We caught 9 trains in 3 hours. 2 mixed freights, 2 coal trains, 1 road railer, 2 intermodal, 1 crude oil, & lo & behold, an Amtrak. I figure the Amtrak was about 4 or 5 hours behind schedule, because we have never seen it before. It was certainly different seeing bi-level passenger cars. Actually, it was different just seeing a passenger train.
P42DC's on today's surprise
Other treats today was a Dash 9-44CW still in BC Rail paint.
And the New York Central Heritage unit, an SD70ACe
Also passing through was this Canadian Pacific ES44AC
And finally, Kansas City Southern SD70MAC
Terry - Liked the video. Curious as to how long you have been working on your layout so far.
We don't know yet if we will be going out tomorrow chasing trains. Probably will though, as I don't feel like doing any chores around the house on a holiday weekend. So have a good night and a safe weekend & I'll get back in here later.

Evening guys
Just got back from work. Leg hurts, but I guess that is to be exected after being on them since about 7 this morning.
Johnboy, I'm pretty sure it was dehydration sickness again. Some of my meds seem to make me dehydrate really fast
Terry, those GP30s and your layout look good. Reminds me I need to finish up detail my trio of GP30s
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Eveniing guys, how are ya doing? Well, I went to the hobby shop today(yes there is a local one by me), and picked up about 50 pieces of styrene for 8 bucks, a building kit for 9 bucks, and a can of spray paint for 5 bucks. Not too shabby huh? No railfanning for me today, but it was a fair trade off. Photos of my model railroading can be found in the "weekend fun" thread. I work tomorrow, but am off Monday and Tuesday. Have a great Labor Day for everyone in the USA.
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

Work Front Went The Way I Was Afraid It Would Be. Slow, then 3 sets of customers at the sametime! Today was just awful!
Gary I have no weight lost goal, because I am not trying lose weight? It is just sort of happing with cutting out bread, noodles (Wife loves to try feed me noodles) and other high carb foods. Just hope to gain some engery and lower my A1C test results some more.
Workout Well I finally got one in tonight. I was stunned when I looked at my lifting records and saw it had been 11 days since my last arm workout! I am happy to say I did not lose any ground when it came to rep's I could do. In fact, I was able to increases rep's on a few exercises. Sunday I hope to do shoulders and chest. Using higher weight on the bench press and have high hopes.
Terry I really like the layout! Your Camera on the other hand. Anyway for a wider view? Am I correct that there is only one main line?
See you all Sunday
Evenin' folks,
Janie, just a cup of decaf for me...
Went to Canandaigua tonight and went to dinner with my sister. She was in a foul mood. Seems she is spending a fortune having her house repaired and painted. She had not done much of anything since she bought the house almost 35 years ago except on the in side. The repairman has found all kinds of rotted wood around the windows, major air leaks and many other things needed ing repair. He is restoring the house beautifully for her. She wanted to keep it looking like it did 100 years ago when it was built..... Many of her neighbors have been making derogatory statements about her and the things she is having done.... Most in jest, but she is getting tired of it, so she took much of it out on me... Well, lets just say she needed a good ear, which I provided. On the way home I hit a young raccoon in the road just outside of Geneva. Those things always make me feel terrible.... He was almost across the road and turned around and ran right back under the wheel of my car. I slammed on the breaks but he ended up right under the drivers side front wheel.....
Jimmy, looks like you made a good find at the LHS. I liked the photos over in the WPF thread too!
Jeffrey, glad you are doing well after the surgery. So.... What were we supposed to recognize in yesterday's photos? I didn't "Heard it through the grapevine" and "I'm about to lose my mind...."
Will be heading out to bed shortly. Have to be at the Museum tomorrow in time for Crew Call.
Oh, actually made a bit of progress on the layout today while washing clothes. Finally have the Grider Bridge in place. need to finish the approach on either side of it and get some track laid over it.
See you all tomorrow night.
