Ulrich!  Good luck and take care of yourself...  Will keep, you in my prayers!

Went to the Podiatrist this morning.  He wanted to know how my sugar is behaving and was quite pleased when I told him my last A1C was 5.8.  Turns out what I thought was a wart is just a large callus.  He did a little snipping, put on a pad over that part of my foot, applied some salve, and then sealed it off.  I asked him what I needed to do and he said, "Nothing".  It will fall off by itself, probably when I shower tomorrow morning.  Foot feels a whole lot better already.  I will know tomorrow about whether I can get another set of the lifts for my shoes (Flat Feet).  Or should I say whether my insurance will pay for them or I will pay out of petty cash...  Or maybe how long before insurance will kick in on them and pay for them.  These will be a second set to use in shoes that I will use the pad that comes with the shoe as well as the corrective lift.

There is a large cell of thunderstorms off to the North East of here.  Was getting a lot of lightning and thiunder over at my son's house when I cleaned the cat litter box.  Decided to came back home, get my allergy shot and plug the car in here.  Hopeing I can get all the materials done on a project I have been working on before I head out to the Museum

Pouring rain outside right now....  Watching for lightning, so...

Later.

Storms? Did somebody say storms?

Storm last night broke some large oak tree branches onto our driveway. Missed a brick wall by inches. Another 3 hours without power too.

Got to Oakdale and back without incident. Got rained on half the time. Burned less than half a tank of gas. Filled up before I left. Nine gallons at $3.239 a gallon. $29.15 plus a Dr Pepper brings it to $30.94. Got back a little after five and laid back to rest a bit.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Ulrich my beast wishes and God Speed!

Just did not feel good this morning when I got up. I cannot put my finger on why, maybe just tired? Did not sleep well. Wife had me stressed out all day yesterday. Even while I was at work. Bang Head

I told them at work I was feeling bad when I got there and I all most called off. Around 4:00 PM I was done aqnd told them I was going home. We where slow today, by 4:00 PM I had only had 4 customers. This next check will be a good one if Mr Perfect correct my spiffs and remembers to pay them! Whistling

How is my wife stressing me out? Because of Sparkie the Rocket Dog. First of off my wife should be taking Happy Pills but she will not take them! Bang Head She does not like the way they make her feel. Her Farorite Hobbys are Finding Things She Cannot Do and Things To Worry About!

 Problem with Sparkie.

1 Wife is afarid to let him run lose in the fenced backyard like our other dogs did. Sparkie might get away? Other Amercian Eskmio did not get out? Whistling

2 So Sparkie the Rocket Dog needs to be walked. He will pee in the backyard but will only poop when walked in the front.

Tony a neighbour down the street lets his son Boxer run lose when he has the Boxer. Boxer is not mean from what I have been told, but likes to jump on people like Sparkie. Sue is afraid that the Boxer will attack Sparkie and Sparkie does have a mouth on him when Sue walks him. Keeps his barks to him self when I walk him.

Sue wants to call the Polices, yes there is a leash law. We just now have had a Dog that needs to be walked and not let lose in the backyard. Tony for the 20 years we lived here has all wise let his dogs run the street and, well Sue liked them and would pet them.

My Problem is it would be easy for Tony to put 2 and 2 togather. For 20 years no one has called and complained about his dogs not being on a leash. Now that we are walking our dog, someone calls the polices? Whistling From what we have seen and heard Tony is a Jurk! Odd that I have lived here 20 years and don't hink I have ever spoke to him?

My real worry is all of my house code vioations!

1 Road Runner sitting out side with no plates and looks like death.

2 Fences is in disrepair. More than a problem ypu would think with out seeing it.

3 In Ground Pool, well it really looks like a Cement Pound! Have all sorts of plants going in it, lots of Frogs and just looks like death.

4 House needs to be painted. Not sure if I could get in trouble about that part.

So while we could stop Tony from letting the Boxer run free, he could cause me way more problems than keeping a dog on the leash.

Jeremy No, I still have the trains in my car, hope they do not melt. I have away to contact them by faces book, but I don't do Faces Book. Long Story there! If you do Faces Book, would you like to contact them for me?

Boy I am enjoying the Tains again! B&O SD 7 and 9 pulling mix freight, Y 6b pulling a 35 car long coal train, B&O GP 30 pulling a 8 car passanger train and UP F7 A and B pulling mix freight.

 See you all Friday.

Good evening. Nice trip today but tiring. Found out the hard way that the drivers side windshield wiper has a broken locking tab. Looks like I'll have to lash the locking bar in place so it can't come off. Windshield washer tank is also busted. Probably froze last winter and ruptured. Any water added to the tank just flows out onto the ground. When I feel I have the strength and energy to do it I'll remove the washer tank and examine it. I may be able to repair it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Evening,

We had a significant rain storm here around 7 and it caused a few underpasses to flood. I had to get out the submersible sump pump and pump some water out of  the pond as it was close to overflowing. The pond is below grade so that wouldn't be good. Hard to explain a pond below grade but it is.

Yesterday I took my wife out for her birthday lunch. She likes this really nice place that has an outdoor patio overlooking the river. I had planned on taking her next week but the weather forecast was ideal yesterday and not so for at least a week so yesterday was the day and the weather was perfect, hot but too hot especially in the shade of this huge umbrella they have. I had a steak sandwich and she had giant prawns which we both really enjoyed.

On the RR front, I finally finished that mill gondola kit I have been working on for the past month. Sure wish I could find a couple more but that PK2 kit was at least 10 years old and finding another in CN livery would be unlikely to say the least. My new DCC system has arrived at my friends in Minnesota but not sure when I will be able to get down there. If I get really desperate to run trains I could always move the Dynamis system I use on the N scale layout but then again I could always run N scale trains.

Ken,  I have been following your yard wars and I think that by just working at it every week you will be surprised at how much you will get done. As far as your neighbour goes, I would be surprised if there is a bylaw that would stop you from keeping a car on the driveway. Here you are allowed 3 before the city can do anything and there isn't a law regarding the level of maintenance for your house. You just have to keep the lawn mowed. Perhaps you could check your own by-laws to see what your city requires. Here a dog running loose would likely wind up in the pound. I wonder what would happen if someone were to call the pound on your neighbour? Would you have to give your name and would the pound tell the neighbour? Again here the law would prohibit that disclosure but you could always ask before reporting.

Well I guess it is soon time for bed.

Friday!  I woke up to rain, which was a surprise since the forecast said sunny all the way through the weekend, but such is weather in New England.

We went to our favorite sushi restaurant last night.  As we walked in, we ran into the parents of a high school classmate of our daughter's, so we all sat together and had a very pleasant evening.

I plan to get a few more pieces of lumber and build out my benchwork over the weekend.  If all goes according to plan, I'll build this "domino" tomorrow, stain it tomorrow evening, and put on 2 coats of polyurethane on Sunday.  It will be interesting to see how long it takes the ladies to realize that I've re-arranged the furniture in the train room to add this layout extension.  This section has always been on the Phase 3 drawing board, but now that I've done the earlier parts I realize that without it, the staging tracks will be too short, so this needs to be built now before the bad weather sets in and makes construction and finishing in the garage unpleasant.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Jeff - that doc visit is a big chunk out of your money. How is the truck wars going ? Has there been any more drama over your use ? Bet the family who is so attached to the truck will be right over to fix the wiper and container ?

Howmus - Thanks, What happened during transport of the R&GV 1654 That caused the damage ?

Garry - Which do you like better NCE or MRC ? I as mentioned earlier have MRC, not installed yet. But I am concerned because MRC seems to be giving up on teh model train market ???

Tom - Thanks

Cuda - Thanks. What is a spiff ? How much work is it to fix the fence ? Repairable or does it have to be replaced ? Can you move teh mopar to the garage ? Have you considered talking to teh neigber and mentioning leash laws ?

Jeremy - wht the heck is a Strat o matic ?

CN Charlie - Which DCC did you order ? What were your reasons for ordering that type of DCC ?

 Any news on Galaxy ???

Mister Beasley - I bet it will only take her 5 seconds to notice teh moved furniture. Women have rock soild memories on how there house is decorated !

Lot to do tody. Getting married tomorrow, Taking a few days off (until Sept 3rd ) so may not be on here everyday because I will be busy eleswhere : )

Morning guys,

Off from work today but have to work tomorrow. The good thing is I am off Sunday and Monday though.

YGW- Strat-o-matic is a fantasy sports board game. There are versions of Baseball, football, hockey and basketball. Its loads of fun and you ont believe how close your stas will come to the real thing. If you want to know more just fire me a PM.

Not much going on today, have the windows open for fresh air but its starting to get sticky in here so I might shut them and turn on the central air. I just check the indoor humidity and its at 62%.

It didn't cost me anything but time and the money for gas. Nobody has said a word about my use of it. Going on past experience they won't lift a finger.

Technicallities would outside of my realm of knowledge... Laugh  As far as I know, it had something to do with not disinguaging one of the drive motors which literally tore apart the whole drive on that axel.  From what I have been told, we have aquired a replacement for it after several years of searching.  By next season, it should be back running on all axels.  Our voliunteers were able to channel the power from both prime Movers into the one working motor for power so it has been able to use it.  For our purposes she has been running great even with the damage.  You are most welcome, BTW.

Trying to tie up a bunch of loose ends around here today.  Will check back later this evening.

At this time it's 91° with 56% humidity. It's cloudy and there's a small chance of rain. No star gazing tonight.

Got the replacement for my Visa card yesterday. The old one had expired. This morning I ordered a replacement for my SNAP card. It should be here in about a week. The magnetic strip on the old one quit working about a year ago. Yesterday I saw my foot doc in Oakdale. He was very happy with the healing progress on both wounds. I apparently had a busy night last night. A drive control card and a memory card (neither worked) were marked as repaired and tested (good) when I got up this morning. I tested both in a working //e and they do work.

YGW ... Congratulations to you and soon-to-be Mrs. YGW.  .... It will be a good marriage if you are shoppong for model railroad items the day before the wedding. .... The DCC forum sometimes has comments on different systems. .... I can say my MRC wireless has worked well. However, that does not mean it is the best. When I bought mine, I was also looking at NCE and Digitraxx systems. My friends here already had MRC systems, and so I went with MRC.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer pleases.

Boy It Is A Hot One Today! Last time I looked it was 97 degrees. Beside all of the running I have to do on my day off only thing I got done was cutting the backyard.

Anyone need a 100 foot garden hose? Home Depot has a clearnes on a Never Kink Heavy Duty (Yea it won't) 100 footer for a whole $11.03! I sure put back the light weight 50 foot hose for $13.00 pretty quick.

Charle Yes Tony could cause me problems about the 68 Road Runner if he wanted to. Had A Old Battleax down the street complain about it 15 years ago. Code infraction inspectior came by and look and decided it was junk. I got a letter that said to get rid of the None Running Car! She had a few low tires, easy fix and paint was faded. Got plates for her, aired up the tires and he came by and looked again. Again he said I had to get rid of the Junk Car! He all so did not beleive me when I said she ran!

Told Mr Numb Nuts I race him for titles! Drove down to his offices, brought him outside and lite the hides! Big Smile He did call the polices on me. Talked with the officer after Mr Numb Nuts went in and told him the story. He told me to never do that again, then asked to see the engine! Whistling

  See you all Saturday

Cuda - That is funny ! So did he like the engine ?

Garry - If you had the chance to do it over would you buy another brand ?

Jeff - Glad to hear that the foot is doing okay

Johnboy - LOL ! Yes dear ? Dentist went well, pucker is reaady : ) !

Howmus - Must be some pretty sharp folks over there to do that kind of jury riggin to bypass the engine and reroute the system to the other motor !

Jeremy - Can you predict actual games with that system ? How does the skins cowboys match up look this year ?

Ulrich - what did the docs say ? You okay ?

Has anyone heard antyhing from galaxy ?

Temp: 82°, heat index: 89°, humidity: 76%, too cloudy for any celestial sightings tonight.

Nothing much happened today. Got my dressings changed. My niece and her husband mowed their yard. He took the east half with a MTD Yardman, she took the west half with the big Murray (just a big red MTD with the Murray name on it). Seemed a good way to knock out five acres. The Murray has a habit of backfiring when it's shut down. Those V-twins seem to be bad about it. Sometimes it starts a fire. Today it set fire to the dry grass on the top of the deck. They were ready for it and doused it with water before it could do any damage. Yeah, it wouldn't do that if the grass was kept cleared out of there. Easier said than done. I'm not sticking my hands under there while the engine is running. Too danged hot! I used to have the same problem with my old tractor. I had a pressurized seltzer bottle ready for action when I shut it down. They don't have the problem with the Yardman. It has a one cylinder engine.

Every day my date with the surgeons scalpel gets closer. Can't say that I feel good about it. In fact I'll feel much better when it's over.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

YGW .... Now that I am used to the MRC system, I would not consider another one. I am sold on wireless intead of being on a cable.  .... DCC does save time wiring layouts, but on the other hand the locomotives require more time.

Ulrich .... I hope you are feeling okay.

JohnBoy ... Still thinking of you. I hope things are better with your health.

I will have little or no computer time the next few days. I'm going to Alabama where my family will celebrate my mother's 95th birthday.

I paid a guy to come clean up the big storm-damaged tree. He cut it up, hailed it away, and cleaned up the debris.

Good Morning!

Back home again!

Petra too k me to the ER Thursday evening, as my heart was playing roller coaster again. The recent change in meds did not do any good to me. I am now in for another trial and error time on those meds. The reason for that dang change was my insurance not covering the med I am used to, so the doc had to change to something "similar". Well, it wasn´t "similar".

Will keep a low profile for the next days, as those trips to our hospital always put me down. Every time just a tad more...

Johnboy - thanks! We keep you in our prayers!

Ken - years ago, our so-called environmentalist urged legislature to pass a law prohibiting parking of un-registered cars even on private property. Many a fine oldtimer which was beginning restoration went to the scrapper due to this law - a tremendous loss not only for the owners.

No news from Galaxy, which starts to worry me. I know he was a little upset about the comment Terry posted the other day, but there must be more behind him not showing up anymore.

Lots of MIA´s again - Sigh

Have a pleasant weekend!

Edit: I got TOPS! Flo, here is my CC, put everything these fine folks will be ordering today on my tab!

Morning guys

This working 2 jobs and working around the house is really wearing me down. I haven't really had a day off in like 3 weeks, and I have to wait until Tuesday for my next one. But then I have to get my tag renewed (it keeps going up, it's close to $60 for 1 year now) that day cause my birthday is the next day (and I have to work that too).

For a while I had been laying my stash of Atlas track out on the floor and trying to figure out a track plan that would work for the switching layout I'm likely gonna build. Then I remembered I have some track planning software on my computer (Doh!). I'm still tinkering with it, but most of it looks like spaghetti. But then the layout would be an industrial-type switching layout.  The area I have available is 7'4" x 5'8," and I'm thinking 16" shelves. The reason for the narrow shelves is that it vertically has to go between my new workbench (still to be finished) and pegboard, and be narrow enough I can still use my workbench. The largest motive power I would use on it would probably be a GP7/9 (with SW1000s, SW1500s, and NW2s for back-up; SD7/9s just don't seem to fit well in an industrial setting) and the longest cars would be around 50' (forgot how long the Proto 2000 flatcar and gondola are). I figure I need about 15 inches for tail tracks on either side of the run-around.

YGW, congrats on getting hitched.

Garry, I hate it when trees fall down. We had a kinda small oak that got knocked down a few storms back. Didn't hit anything, but I was upset I didn't have 2 trees in the backyard for a hamock anymore.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

 Morning Folks!

 Flo, Diet Dew Pleases.

Got a call from Work Friday, seems they want me at Fairview Heights this weekend and not St Charles? Have mixed feelings about the change. With me having a good month, I hate to miss out on the possible commission. But, with the heat we are going to have this weekend it might be for the better! St Charles A/C is bad at its best. If it is 98 outside, it will be 88 on the inside. I no longer handel the heat very well. Plus, I will get home earlier so I can workout!

YGW A Spiff is a bonus for selling a certain iteam. In th case of the BEMCO Memnory Foam Mattress around $120.00 each depending on the sizes.

Road Runner is sitting outside because I got into trains. Layout takes up the most of the two car garage. Layout will come down before this winter. The I will build a new one where the Road Runner and the trains live together.

Fence I should have looked around the outside of the yard before I bought this places! Problem is the inground pool is not really in the ground! We have a high water table, so when the pool was put in, they had to rasie it with gravel. Problem is they did noy build a concret retaining wall! They used a heavy tar paper looking thing and used the Fences Post to hold the gravel on my side of the yard! Woked well say for 25 years, now the fences post are pushing into the next yard? Bang Head That will not be cheap to fix!

Ulrich Glad to here you are out of the hospital. Be glad when they get the Med's sorted out.

Solar Panel Question How big of a solar panel would it take to run a 1 HP motor? Would love to have the pool open again, but could not afford the extra $150.00 on the electric bill. So I was thinking solar power? Whistling Any ideas on the cost?

 See you after work.

Good morning. It's 83°, heat index 91°, humidity 82%. High of 95°.

No plans other than enjoying the day. It's gonna be on the hot side outside so I'll be inside most of the day.

A few more hours, that's all the time I got
A few more hours before I tie the knot
There'll be drinks and girls all over the town
And I gotta track 'em down in just a few more hours

I'm gettin' married in the morning
Ding, dong, the bells are gonna chime
Pull out the stopper, we'll have a whopper
But get me to the church on time

I got to get there in the morning
Spruced up and lookin' in my prime
Girls come and kiss me, say that you'll miss me
But get me to the church on time

If I am dancing roll up the floor
If I am whistling right out the door

I got to get there in the morning
Ding, ding, dong, they're gonna chime
Kick up a rumpus, don't lose your compass
Get me to the church, get me to the church
Pete's sake, get me to the church on time

If Im flyin' then shoot me down
If Im wooin' get the girl right out of town

I got to get there in the morning
Ding, ding, dong, they're gonna chime
Punch me and jail me, stamp me and mail me
But get me to the church, get me to the church
Pete's sakes, get me to the church on time
On time, on time, on time Whistling

YGW - congratulations to you and your now wife from the other side of the Big Pond. I am now married for 30 years and 28 days and have never regreted a single day of it! May you two have many happy years together!

It´s one of those do-nothing days. It´ll take a while for the new meds to kick in. Right now I feel worn and drowsy - time to lay back and do a little dreaming of that ultimate layout of mine, with a pair of D&RGW C-19´s chuffing along a beautiful countryside, similar to what you can see in this little video by a German model railroader.

Pretty humid out there. We’re under a heat advisory until Monday I think. The temps aren’t that bad but the humidity puts us to the feels like temp of over 100.

Had to mow twice this week and probably in the next couple days again. Still have the rest of the shed floor to do and a ton of other odds and ends.

Hope I didn’t miss anything important as I just had to speed read to get caught up and now, the wife is asking if I’m ready to go. She’s hungry.Dinner
