You should be OK. I like calling and listening to the girls strong New York accents.

Would it not make more sense to ask _before_ you ordered?

I've placed several orders with Trainworld/Trainland over the years and have never had a problem with them.  I always received exactly what I ordered and within a reasonable time frame.

Not sure why you are asking the mods to delete the thread? Like what direction were you looking for exactly? I didn't see any posts going off topic.

I started dealing with Trainworld 3 years ago and have had no problems what so ever. I get things from them I can't get from M B Klein and vice versa. I do like to order by phone so I can get a chuckle with the NYC dialect. Too bad we don't have a similar company in Berks County PA so I can get a laugh with a dose of PA Dutch.

Hi.

Whenever I am in Queens, New York visiting (every 2-3 months) I always make my pilgrimage to Trainland.  My dad first took me there about 40 years ago when we set up our first model railroad.  I will be going back in 2 weeks; always brings back good memories.

All the best.

I have been to Train world in Brooklyn a number of time and seen the girls answer the phone.   They are always very helpful.

I remember in the days before the internet and you would call in an order. One time they had Ertl boxcars for cheap so I ordered a bunch, as I was on the line, she asked if I would like some flat cars also (they had supposedly sold out many moons before but I guess they found a box in the back) so I bought a bunch of those too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It should work out well for your order. I've been buying from them since the early seventies by mail, back when their "catalog" was a couple of mimeographed sheets of paper sent out by Peter Bianco.

First rate in service and handling even in oversea service.

Good ratio price-quality.

I have ordered from Trainworld on several occasions and have been happy with their service.

Once I had placed an order for quite a few turnouts. They did not have enough in stock to fill the order. Rather than sending a partial order and placing the remainder on backorder, they called me and asked if I wanted the partial order or if I would prefer to cancel the order since they could not fill all of it. Good people to deal with.

I never had a problem with their service. But I feel I was overcharged for shipping and handling. They advertise 9.95 minimum shipping charges. Fine, I had no problem with that. But when I ordered a single Athearn Genesis loco, thay charged me around $17 shipping on a single loco. If a single loco doesn't fall within their minimum charge, what does? Recently I ordered another Athearn Genesis loco from a different online retailer, and the shipping was under $10.

I also noticed that Trainworlds prices increased quite a bit after Pete died. There are several online retailers with better prices.

Shipping is always the big bugaboo. LION orders everything on line, meds, computers, trains, parts, and more, but shipping cousts are all over the board. Still, $17 for shipping is not all that outragious. What shipping did you specify? UPS ground is cheapest. Shipping for 6 bars of soap is amost $11.00 on our website, and that is USPS.

Oh well, LION is used to shipping charges. I just bought a solder station for $50.00, plus a spare tip for $7.00 and the shipping came out to $18.00.

Trainworld always calculates the shipping once they have put it into a box and weighted and measured it. Others calculate by weight or price and hope to break even on the average. We know how many bars of soap we can fit in each size box, and that is the price we charge.
