Thanks for the comments Garry, and Bear, and another excellent WPF of great pictures and modeling. Can I sneak in one more? OK, you talked me into it. We had a late Christmas dinner last night, now that all the kids were back in one spot, and my daughter gave me a few figures I just had to post, just for fun:
Looks like some campers took over the wayside, and made it "home sweet home". I think these red necks are Packer fans, look at the canopy on the trailer! I see the sheriff is doing a drive-by to see what's going on, but I think he got distracted by the jogger on the road !
Hikers stop to take a break, and take in the water fall. On the local news front, UP is having a tuff time just south of Milwaukee, WI today. 19 cars of a 130 car coal train, heading north, derailed. Looks like a huge mess! Mike.

The Dallas area Train show was held this weekend, the star of the show IMO was the Elk Canyon and Western Sn3 display layout. It made me consider a shadow box layout concept for my future. It was done in such a way that it would look right a home in a family living room, even accentuate the living room.
More pics of the show are on my blog link below.

Great work this week, as usual.
Here's my contribution; a train of recent craftsman kit completions (I just painted the reefer today):

Great work everybody! I spent the past week installing my riser and inclines. When it comes to calculating grades, I'd rather let Woodland Scenics do the hard work. I glued them down with silicone caulk and covered the flex gaps with plaster cloth. By this time next week, there might be some track on the layout.

What receipe of colors do you use to get that beautiful sandstone colors on your rock work?
I know. "What the....." Well, it's the tannery liftoff, a section a couple of feet across that just had to be removeable so that I could work behind it when necessary. The picture above shows mostly the pink foam it's built on as a vertical wall, and the rest of the layout below as horizontal pink foam. The overhang is sceniced plaster cloth, which sits right down into the scenery.
For reference, the small white building with the black roof is visible in both pictures.
Have fun the next week, gang. I will be crossing the continent to ski at Whistler in British Columbia, just outside of Vancouver, so I'll miss WPF (and the Amherst train show.) But, we'll have a great time, and I'll catch you in a couple of weeks.
