Being a Moderator should have nothing to do with being able to accept advice, given six days ago, unless I totally missed something. But maybe, I should say this thread is becoming frayed.
Cheers,
Frank
Kyle On the old software, there was a mobile site that worked great, but I also used the full site and it worked really well. This new software is help an improvement for smart phoneusers.

Smartphone is the wave of the future, get use to it. Change is a constant now a days.
Go with the flow.
With Fireox, hardly any issues. Many refuse to install FF which is very easy to do.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Nothing ventured; nothing gained, Rich. ( Sadly...I don't think the latter will apply in this case. Always room for hope though.) I do have my hip waders on as a backup.

Tom, if Kyle ever becomes Moderator, you are going to be in deep doo-doo.
Kyle NevinW I'm on a MAC using Safari. Absolutely no problems at all. i use Safari on the I-Phone, and there are several bugs, and it is slow, and hard to navigate. The old software was a lot faster, easier to navigate and I didn't have any bugs. It was also easier to find things on the MRR website.

Kyle:
Why don't you try using a laptop or desktop to access the forum and see if you have the same problems. It sounds like your problems are more associated with your phone/browser than the forum software. I don't know if the forum software is optimized for smart phones.
Joe
Harder to find seems like a silly argument, since the menu structure at the top of the page is almost 100% identical to what it was, it's just now dynamic so the options show up only when you hover over them. It wasn;t a radical alteration of where things are, it was almost all just appearance changes.

Well, there you have it. We just learned the default options for the new software.
Buy a Mac and use Safari, and all your problems will end.
Really? You think Kalmbach should design the web site so that no matter what lockdown configuration your coporate IT should choose to implement, it should work?
I know many places where this site and others like it are just totally blocked, classified as "discussion forums" and disallowed by content filtering.
At least you can get here and post. That means 99% of it is working.
What buttons are missing? There is no preview anymore. There's a mysterious 'P' in the lower left in both IE and Chrome that seems to do nothing more than update the word count. And maybe jump you to the top of your post. Perhaps that's where preview should be.
Hi Jeff,
That worked for loging out, but when I logged back in there was no change in the buttons.
Back when Video Plus first started I had trouble but afet a few months everything started working as it should.
One of the things I've learned from modeling is to have patience wether or not I like it.
I can manage the way it is until Kalmback gets their software straightened out.
Thanks for the help.
Hope you are mending well.
Bob
Don't Ever Give Up
I didn't realize until a few days, while in Garden Railroads, that the MRR is the only site that changed ! The rest still use the old format. I suppose it's only a matter of time before they all are changed.

dti406Larry, that's a fine idea but for those of us at work we are not allowed to reconfigure IE so that solution is totally impractible. The IT staff at a company that I am sure locks down most of the software on their system would recognize that we can't change anything (SNIP)
Ugh! That do make it bad..

which means the IT staff at Kalmback is totally stupid and should go back to school and learn how to deal with computers and software systems.
Or maybe there trying to please the smart phone users, the Ipad users,Nook HD+ and Kindle Fire Tablet users etc and not getting it right?

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

Thanks,
I've found an issue that I don't think has been described before.
Internet Explorer refuses to allow me access to any of the forum pages while I am logged in. I can access them through Firefox (only just remembered I have a second internet browser - after a couple weeks! ) I've tried logging out and in starting from various pages, and it doesn't make a difference - no community access from IE.
Most of the "missing" buttons can be found in the "file, edit, insert, view, format, tools" tabs along the top of the post text editor. The only one that I can't find is "preveiw" feature. I miss being able to see what the post will actually look like
Overall, this isn't too bad. I'd say Yahoo Mail's / AT&T Mail's reformating was much worse.
Finally back,
S&S
P.S. To be absolutely clear, I DON'T hate the new site. It's only slightly annoying once in a while until I get used to it.

Where's it $70 for MRVP? It's not even that much for a combo subscription to MR and MRVP.
I think Kalmbach should just go back to the old software, keep one IT guy to fix bugs, and the rest should be put on making more MR extra videos.
I also noticed there are a ton of MRR video plus videos displayed on theregular MR site, which drives me crazy, $10-$20 for video plus seems reasonable, but $70 is crazy, I wish they wouldn't trick you into thinking it is a MR extra video, and next thing you know, your being redirected to video plus.
The gremlins must be working for the better as copying and pasting now seems to work when it didn't yesterday.
Thanks for encouraging me on. Bob
Thanks for encouraging me on.
The only buttons I have are cut, copy, and paste. When I tried this with Firefox the picture was distorted.
This is the picture I posted with F F
