I do have to say that this is the worst update I have seen so far. It is even worse than the Yahoo groups update which is not an update but a de- evolution of the forum. Does MR use the same company that did the AHC web site? I would rather keep the change in my pocket and not on my computer thank you!

I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
The spell checker is amongst the missing. I just type up my reply, copy and paste it into the PM reply box or the reply box of the Classic Toy Trains forums (both have spell checkers) and correct any errors there, copy the text, get out of that reply box and paste the corrected text back here. Hopefully the spell check will be fixed soon.

Not to worry; as my alter ego, 'Grammar Granny', I'll happily be making suggestions to all posters I come across regarding spelling & syntax; it's my response to the 'rivet counters' that take issue with my fantasy consists and seem to have forgotten Rule #1....
Cowman.
What browser are you using? Firefox does not have the spell check.
Pianoman.
If I were a linguistic specialist I probably would not be here. I know now I should have paid attention in school. I may count a rivet or two on my equipment but I never critisize others for modeling what they want.
Spell check does not work for me either. I am using Chrome.

I'm not automatically getting any spell check either. But then the previous spell check didn't seem to work for me. I always got an error message when I tried to use it.
Spell Check is a function of the Firefox Browser. Since it does not wrok here, it is obvious that this box is isolated from the browser and is within flash or other sort of code. In other words, this box, although it appears to be in your browser is is actually operating outside of it. I do not know if I like this kind of coding.

Spell check here use to work for me. Not anymore.
I use FF 25.0.1 with spell check option selected. The FF spell check works elsewhere for different sites.
I just copy and paste into a Office document. Not a big deal.
As long as I have been in Trains.com forums, this is the worse upgrade ever but it is free. Go with the flow.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Spell check works in the PM reply box. I just copy and paste my text there, make the corrections then copy and paste it in my reply.

Hey Jeff
I have all that and I still don't get SPELL CHECKED. Go figure.

The forums don't work for me in IE, so I'm using Chrome. But spell check isn't working in Chrome, and some of the other MR website features aren't working Chrome either. So I have to use both browswers and switch back and forth between them. Kind of frustrating.
Having been involved with several major IT projects over the years, there is one lesson above all others -- don't let IT folks manage an IT project. Sounds counter intuitive, but they tend to get so focused on all the things they can do, they forget about the users needs and what they should do. Or to put it in more everyday terms, sometimes you want a full chef prepared gourmet dinner ... and sometimes all you want is a ham sandwich.
jeffrey-wimberlyf you're using Firefox and it doesn't have spell check you haven't enabled it. Click 'Tools' in the menu bar, scroll down, click 'Options', click 'Advanced', click the 'General' tab, go down and look at the box next to 'Check My Spelling As I Type'. If it isn't checked then check it now. Click OK.
Did all that and it was already checked. Go figure. Spell check works on all the other forums but this one since the new update.
