Welp, the Cub Cadet is gone. 36 years went down the road yesterday. I have mixed feelings about it. I mean it’s been a part of the family for soooo long it almost seemed like...., wrong to get rid of it. Oh well, gave it to a friend of mine who plans to use it for who knows how long. Better there than sitting around here. Besides, I have no room inside anything for it so it has been sitting out along the shed since April. But she started! Oh I had to get in there and touch the points with some sand paper, but she fired up after that and ran like a top. Now watch, the Deere won’t start next time and I’ll kick myself.
Gonna try and stay off foot as much as possible today. We’ll see how that goes.

Good morning gang! Hope all is well. Prayers to those in need. Sorry no new news on my layout. I do have my contractor working on things here at my house, the main priority is a complete gut and remodel of my main bathroom. I had originally asked the guy to install an exhaust fan in the ceiling as I had noticed mold starting to grow in the corners. Well, before long, we discovered no insulation in either of the 2 exterior walls, and a lot of mold on the backside of the drywall that was behind the shower surround. So I told him to gut it and start from the studs and remodel. So I'm upgrading all plumbing and electrical in that bathroom, exterior walls have been insulated, a new Jacuzzi Whirlpool tub is in place, the walls around the tub/shower will be polished black granite with a mosaic in a diamond pattern. The floor will be white ceramic tiles with a marble mosaic and in-floor heat. The rest of the walls will be painted some shade of grey. It will look sharp.
Once that is done, I'm going to have him start in the train room, rip out the 2 exterior walls and install all new electrical and insulation, then drywall and paint. From there, prolly the computer room, my bedroom, familyroom, livingroom, kitchen and finally the garage.
So, that means no trains for about another 3-4 months while the bedrooms are remodeled.
Anyways, I'd like to say Thank you to all the vets - those that have come and gone before me, have served with me, and are still serving!

Another w**k day for me.
Veteran's day is tomorrow, and some how I think they have it all wrong. When I was in school we had the day off. A lot of people that w**k at banks and for the government, have the day off. In my case and many others that I know of, we, as veterans, have to work on Veteran's day. Just does not seem right. USN, SeaBees Can Do. "The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer."

I have been out on the road for the last couple of days - party "business" took me to Berlin. We are faced with some ugly and nasty things, so are couple of the "good ones" got together to see how we can facilitate a good clean-up of the mess the "big ones" have created. The world does not need another party which is just as bad as all the others - not in my country!
This is my last attempt to straighten things out, before I start to concentrate all my resources (not money!) on leaving Germany and Europe.
Things are turning really bad over here - spare me the details, as I see Vinnie waking up!

Chloe, just a refill for my dark roast coffee right now.
Got my sister to the airport and she is now on her way to Atlanta where she connects with another flight to Orlando, FL. Sure was great to see her again and get to chat for a while. Her time was split about 4 ways during her visit. She stayed one night with my other sister, then Came to my house for 3 nights, but was spending most of the days with either some old friends (Her maid of honor at her first wedding) and then yesterday I took her over to my son's house so they could have some quality time (without dad hanging around). So, really I had about the same amount of time with her as my other sister did. At least that will be my claim when she starts telling me how little time she got to have with her....
Sun appears to be in hiding today but does come out from behind some dark gray clouds every once in a while. Current temperature is 44°F and the low tonight will be 33°F here in the Finger Lakes. I need to get some outdoor stuff done, like mowing the lawn one more time before bringing the battery packs in the house for the winter. Also need to pack up the now dead plants from the garden to be hauled away when the city makes the next seep of leaves and such. Unfortunately I don't have a composting unit at the moment so the city will do that for me...
Will be heading out to my son's house late this afternoon to celebrate my DIL birthday. We will be ordering in Chinese for the occasion I guess. Since i have a blood draw on Tuesday, I shall only have a bit of cake and ice cream... Had way too much desert yesterday out there and my blood sugar told me so both last night and this morning. Will be dreading my doctor appointment a week away!
Somewhere around here I have an address and phone # for Barry. Been looking and I can't locate it. will keep trying! Do hope he is OK!

Been doing a bit more work on Oliver's motel room. I used the TV to get him a message about part of what he needs to accomplish.I'll work on it some more later. Right now the suns got the window next to the computer lit up so brightly it washes out the screen.
Poor Oliver just can't win for losing it seems. Our boy from Alabama is OK while he's in the motel room. I'm making this part of the game somewhat more interactive than 'Paradise Cove'. Of course it's not going to be as big either. So far Oliver can search the room and the bathroom. He can turn things on and off, he can open and close the medicine cabinet. So far he can find two items. A red key and a note warning him to be wary of goons. He ignores the note, balls it up and drops it. on subsequent searches of the bathroom it's mentioned that's there's a balled up note on the floor. After finding the red key any further searching of the room results in him being told he already has the red key. After he turns on the TV and hears Mr Blurry Guy he's free to leave the motel. However if he tries to leave without turning on the TV one of the guys waiting outside says "I didn't hear no TV. Turn on the TV". Once the TV has been turned on and Mr Blurry Guy says what he has to say Oliver can leave. Now things start to go badly for him. He opens the door and walks out of the room. The two big guys outside grab him and throw him in the back of their car and a third guy in the car swings something and Oliver's lights go out in an explosion of stars. This is as far as I've gotten. When I pick it up again Oliver will wake up in a sub-basement compartment under the observation car at the end of a train of dead-head equipment being sent back up the line behind a trio of GP40's. Now I don't know if these sub-basement compartments open into the interior of the car or not (probably not) but this one does. He searched the room so Oliver already has the tool he needs to get out. Trouble is, once he's out where does he go? He's trapped on a train with I don't know yet how many bad guys. So far he has only the red key. Other than that all he has is his wits, his fists and whatever he can find.
Hey all. Just a quick stop as the computer is about to die on me (won't charge as I dropped it on the floor from the couch). Wanted to catch up on things before I head off to bed as I have to w**k tomorrow. A big thank you from me and mine to all those that served, are serving, or will serve in the military. We've heard about 3 dog nights, but here it will be a 3 cat nights. Shelley just acquired a third rescue cat for the household. The 3 came from cat rescue centers in Cincinnati, OH, Paducah, KY, and now (as of today) from Clarkesville, TN. .... And to think we used to be dog people.

Evening All, Well here in New Zealand today is actually known as Armistice Day, because WWI ended at 1100 hours on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, (even you guys with your backwards way of writing dates can't get this one wrong !!!! 11/11/1918. ).
Commemorating Armistice Day is rather low key for us and the Australians as ANZAC Day, 25 April is our day of remembrance for those who have served and paid the price in various conflicts around the world.
Still we do owe , in particular, those in the US forces who fought in the Battle of the Coral Sea, 4-8 May 1942, a great deal of Thanks.

Zoe, just a bowl of organic granola and lots of dark roast coffee for me... Sugar is higher than I like it again this morning. Had order out Chinese at my Son's house last night and I only ate about half of the rice in my meal. Even skimped on the cake and ice cream to celebrate DIL's birthday.... Didn't have a snack before bed (It was high then) and it was still 140 this morning! Have a blood test tomorrow. Don't like where this may be leading....
I too will add my voice for the Veteran's. Thank you for your selfless service! I hope all of us will take a moment to stop and consider the cost of humanity's greed and hatred that leads to so much pain and suffering. I still pray that somehow all of us will learn to live in peace, respecting all cultures and people on this old earth.

Good morning. It's 60° with 76% humidity. There will be some clouds.No work on the //e this morning or early afternoon. I have an appointment with the cardiologist today. Hopefully they're going to see if they can find a blocked blood vessel. I may do some work on the game this evening.I was doing maintenance on this computer yesterday. It's been slowing down significantly in the past few weeks so I checked it yesterday and found the hard drive was over 50% fragmented. Little wonder. So at 7:00 last night I started a defrag on it. Seven hours later (2:00am) it was still at it so I turned the monitor off but left the computer running. It finished sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 this morning. That's the first time I've seen a defrag take almost eleven hours. The computer is running faster though.

I sure do appreciate the veterans.
I see several postings listing their service. I feel a bit inadequate. My Father served during Korea, and I had the draft to sign up for. Never got drafted though. My father WOULD have strongly suggested I go into the military, BUT once my cat brought home a mouse {a LARGE field mouse} that wasn't quite dead. To put it out of its misery as its back was obviously broken, my mother told me to kill it with a shovel. Bash it in the head. I hit it once {barely connecting}. I had to do it again, and again and again and again. Five times I could not hit it hard enough to "finish it off". Didn't "have it in me". My father had to finish it off as I could not kill it. A spider, yes, a fly, yes, but a rat? No. So, my father said he decided then it may not be best for me to serve military, if I could not kill a rat, I probably couldn't kill a human being and would die first instead, SO he dropped the idea completely. We DO realize there are "behind the scenes" positions one can do in the military for support. However, we also do know also that ultimately any soldier must be willing to fight and if need be, kill for our fair country, and If I cannot kill a lowly field mouse, what would I do facing the enemy with a gun in his hands?
I DID however, work in a truck stop while I could have been serving and that kept the "goods flowing' here at home. some to military support. Some even Miltary vehicles on the move. I may not have been a "rosie the riveter", but maybe I helped in some ways to keep home fires and freight going while whose who could, did serve.{I know not train freight, darn it!} Had it been direct war time, keeping trucks with supplies moving would have been VERY important.
So a bummer day. MOH made pretzels all day.
I have a headache moving in as a storm approacheth us. It bringeth sn*w witheth it. Four letter words, shame shame.
no mail today means no bills. That is a relief, but sometimes goodies come too!
Dinner will be surf and turf. I think. I may not eat as to the headache going to migraine, but MOH will have surf and turf.

I just wanted to say thanks and let others know if you are going through some tough times there are some great people on this forum who will be kind enough to answer back and make you feel better and give some tips and ideas you may not have thought of.

Hey y'all. Just popping in with a big wok of chicken stir fry that my lovely wife made! Y'all eat up! (it was supposed to be chicken fajitas, but she went into autopilot when she started cooking and it ended up stir fry). Had to w**k today, was an up and down day. Really busy this morning, lots of cars, but not a lot of money, then this afternoon we petered off to nothing and were able to clean up and due some upkeep that's been put off far, far too long. Going to be doing some more research on the topography of the line from Montgomery, AL to Thomasville, GA (the beginning and end of the CSX Dothan Subdivision, respectively). I'm also going to do a little digging and see if I can find the old lines that connected into the subdivision along the way that are no longer there (used to be a connection at Ozark, AL and a few others that I've been able to find here and there through historical digging.
Again, thank you to the men and women that served behind and ahead of us all, we all owe you an unpayable debt.

Wintery weather is being predicted across western and central NY State tonight. To the West they are calling for 3" to 5" of white stuff! Around the Finger Lakes, we could see about 1" possibly. Biggest danger is that it has been raining this evening and they are saying "Black Ice" may form on untreated roads and bridges across the region. Currently 33°F outside with a low in thye high twenties... Woodstove is keeping the house nice and warm...
I got out today and did some grocery shopping and bought some stuff at Staples. My logitech mouse had stopped scrolling up lately and I tried to blow out any dirt that might be causing the problem with no improvement. So for $20 I got a new one. Also needed a ream of heavy paper for the next Division Newsletter.
Still haven't heard from my sister that she arrived home safely... I want to call my other sister and chat, but want to be able to tell her all is well.
