I don't know if the messaging is working. Evidently not. I did not recieve one from you. I just tried twice to send to you, and both look like they did not get sent.

I just tried sending test messages to both of you guys and neither one went through. Seem for every step the tech guys take forward they take two steps back.

Well my computer parts shopping will be a bit meager for December as I have Christmas shopping to think of. I can affor to devote a whopping $130 to gifts for the family. I hope they're not expecting anything expensiveConfused. For myself I picked up two antique disk drives. One is an Apple 5.25" Disk II drive, the other is an Apple compatible 5.25" Lobo drive. The Disk II drive includes an "Elephant Memory Systems" disk. Hand written on the disk are: "Infidel, Pest Patrol, Ms. Pac-Man, Frogger, Lady Tut".  I'm hoping this software still works. Those are good games.

My relatives ask me if I'm going shopping today. Me? Go shopping on Black Friday? Perish the thought! I do my shopping from right here at the keyboard. No crowds, no rude shoppers, no pain in the butt checkout lines. From here there's a much better selection.

Done did mine all online before TG day! Thats why I said I had all my Xmas shopping done!

In fact the Mailwoman should be bringing me about 3 packages today! Soon...around a half hour from now. At least according to tracking!

There will be more coming too!

The fact that I got it done before TG means I got "first crack" at it and have it delivered WELL before xmas!

Also went to the trainstore at wholesaletrains.com and got THAT shopping done 2 weeks ago!

so now I can relax, trim my tree and enjoy the coming holiday..I have my hands full with that,as it is the first Xmas without MOH's Mother, so MOH is a little "bah humbug" to say the least! So I need to get MOH to snap OUT OF IT!

I like Jeff's way of shopping

Well Been going over any sort of expansion plans ( been having plans off and on for a few months now ) I still dont see a way to expand in the space that I have that would add to the layout. I think If I try right now it will become something of a spagehtti bowl efffect. I might just hold off on that for now. I have been having too muich fun detailing scenes and adding figures and automobiles. So might stick with doing that for now. Also have detailing and weathering on loco's and freight cars to finish, heck there is years right there. And Also changing out some scenes with new buildings.

So Maybe its best for me and the layout to hold off expanding for the time being. We all know how much time detailing a layout to whatever degree you want and for me with the amount of detailing I want it would take me years. So dont want to expand and add more to the list.

Afternoon guys,

I see malls and such down there are crazy, we also have black friday sales ( pretty muhc just a way to keep Canadian close to the border from going across there I guess ) Im not much of a shopper so will not be going to malls. Did go to home depot today to get some lumber I may need for my layout extension, I dont know If I will add on or not. But I have the wood If I decide. As for this afternoon I will contnue work on painting figures and that warehouse kit. Tonight I have to go to aunts to move some stuff around for her because she is getting a new dedroom suite and I have to look at her PC as it is giving her problmes.

When I get home I may just site and flip through old MR or work on the layout extension plan ( If I decide to expand )

Check back tonight.

MisterBeasley

Wait a minute!  Shouldn't you all be out shopping?

Me neither.  For our out-of-the-USA friends, the day after Thanksgiving has been transformed into a tradition of the Nightmare of Shopping, with people arriving at malls and big-box stores at 3 or 4 AM to be the first through the door to buy limited supplies of stuff at very low prices.  I might go to my LHS, but not at 4 AM, although that would likely guarantee me my choice of parking spots.

Actually, Mr. B,,,they showed live feeds from our mall today at intervals between 6am and 8am on our local news segments before the nat'l settles in.

The MALL Was NEARLY EMPTY then! Every live feed!

Peeps are not spending much I guess. Many still realling from the gov't shutdown. Not in the spirit and others already to do shopping online {like me}.

Turkey dinner was fine enough for a few  cups of turkey ghoullash {note spelling!} over noodles for mOH. tonight we have ham and eggs! MOH can't take turkey for days on end,so I have to alternate. Me? I could eat a whole roasted turkey myself!

Went to the CVS and Big Lots. TO get some mini lights for my mini tree. Everybody else had batttery operated ones..how bout good old fashioned electric ones? the tree  came with thinly 35 ct. spread lights without a "plug-in-plug" socket so I added a 20ct mini with a plug-in-plug socket, but MOH and I agreed, it needed still more lights. so I got another 20 ct set. Probably shoulda got a 50 lite set. actaully  neither neither store was very full, THough Big Lots did have 3 lines open instead of just one.

I think a turkey sandwich  is in order apple pie order....

We need to buy a new stove..one full burner has nto run for a few years and the oether full burner is geting very temperamental as it needs to be re-pluged or adjusted plug in. I will have to learn how to cook on just 2 small burners!

Monday the man comes to snake the drain....

I've had a U28B locomotive on order at Walthers since the spring, and it was showing up on their web site as arriving November 28th, which was yesterday.  Today, it's still listed as not in stock, advance reservation, and there is no arrival date.  Now, either that means that it didn't show up, or that the ones that did were all spoken for, or prehaps there's a little bit of software that removes the arrival date from the listing once it passes.  Perhaps I'll find out soon.

Anyway, we had a nice Thanksgiving.  We made way too much food, and now have way too much leftover food.  I will likely be eating pumpkin risotto and pumpking tiramasu for a week.  Good, but it will get repetitive after a while.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good morning. It's 37° with 87% humidity. The high will be 55° with some clouds.

Had a good Thanksgiving meal yesterday. Even after my meds/insulin last night and meds this morning my blood sugar count is STILL over 340!

We found out yesterday that we have a big rat hanging around at the back of the house near the dog door. We haven't found any evidence yet that it's been in the house. Perhaps it hasn't discovered that it can go through the dog door as easily as the dog can or maybe it has something to do with the cat that's waiting on the other side of said dog door. We kept the cover on the door last night. I was still up after midnight so I let the dog out the front door so she could get her business taken care of then she was back in like a shot. Too cold out there for that pampered poodle!

I may get a chance to work on Oliver's adventure today. I think after the negative experiences I programmed into the first two compartments (#7, #6) he should have an easier time today and find a couple of pleasant surprises. However he needs to be mindful of the kid reading the Archie's comic book. That little brat is twisted and evil!

My little piece of redneck engineering that's keeping the drive cards in my //e aligned seems to be holding up OK. The heat within the case especially with the co-processor in such close proximity doesn't seem to have effected it.

Mornin' folks!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal with raisins and brwon sugar and a pot of dark raost coffee to keep my R&GV RR mug filled for a while.

According to the weather experts we are having a mostly cloudy day here in the Finger Lakes which does not explain why there appear to be blue skies and ample sunshine....  It is 22°F which is far below average temperaturs they say with a high of 26°F later this afternoon.  I need to remove the flash drive from my CPAP and take it over to the supplier to get the data read this morning, then make a trip down to the Credit Union to get some pictures of dead presidents to spend.  Then I shall return home for the most of the day.  Shopping?  Not on Black and Blue Friday...  Never!  I may go do some things on Small Business Saturday.  That is where most of my spendable cash goes anyway.  I like local!

Todd, most of the 4 wheel drive thigies that are driving like idiots around here are from a particular Painting/LawnCare/Snow Plowing company that doesn't like to waste any time getting to the next job...  Last winter they were shoveling out the house across the street and got one of their 4 wheel drive snowplow pick'emup trucks stuck in the snow bank out front...  They had about 8 employees over there pushing on the truck while one of them had the wheels doing about 80mph and going nowhere.  At one point they got the truck to move about a foot and one of the guys pushing fell under the wheels of the truck..  Lucky the truck was still not really going anywhere (even though the speedometer probably said 120).  They finally got the driver to stop spinning his wheels and a couple of them pulled the idiot out from under the truck and they all had a good ol' laugh, they did....  "Hey Ya'll Watch theeis..!"  I know one local company that will not be doing any work for me!!!

I will be going over to my Son's house late afternoon in expectation of more Turkey, Stuffing, and all the trimmings...

Later!

Todd ... Good to see you too. .... Stuffed? Who would do that on Thanksgiving. ... Did you have Turkey in chow mein ? Whistling

By the way, our local bait shop will close its doors forever on December 21st to make room for a new highway soon to be started. It will be an end of an era.

Ulrich .... I meant to thank you, too, for the T-day message. Maybe next year, you and Petra can come over here for a Redneck T-day dinner. Dinner

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and…Confused...just coffee. Still kinda full.

Cold now. Supposed to be Sunny, with a high near 39.

Ray- Yup, if properly used, 4wd is a great thing. Unfortunately, it also seems to give some drivers a sense (or maybe should be a lack of sense) of unstoppableness.

Karl- Prayers for your Aunt. And yes, as a matter of fact, someone not too long ago had sold something and it turned out the person lived across the street, or down the street a block or two can’t remember, but they were basically neighbors. I think they responded, I’ll just bring it over.

Welp, got stuffed as usual. Things went well and all were happy at the end of the day. Both kids and the grandkids showed up to the disappointment of the dog. If there is company she doesn’t get to eat at the table. She has to stay on the floor. She understands.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. Just coffee; Can't eat yet.

Glad to see some of the Diners are posting in spite of over eating. ... We had T-Day Dinner at friends' house. They have rednect qualities, but not at all as bad as the redneck Thanksgiving I posted yesterday. Dessert was souther pecan pie; not pumkin pie. Homemade and great tastiing. Dinner

Galaxy ..... Glad your dinner worked out well. Sounded like a very good T-day Dinner.... You must be a good cook. Chef  ..... Your reply to the redneck joke was funny as was Jeff's. Actually, I re-use paper plates sometimes, but I don't put them in the diswasher. Smile, Wink & Grin

Jeff .... Glad you were able to attend the dinner. I'm sorry you still have troubles moving yourself, and hope soon you will have your 'foot" connected and functioning.

JohnBoy .... Hope the doctor appointingment went well. I don't know if you say the Greyhound bus I posted in the Diner acouple of days ago, but it was done in your honor.

Karl .... I've had several interesting Eabat experiences but none like you described. Sorry to learn about your aunt/godmother's health issues.

Ray ..... Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. I'll be interested in further progress with the blacksmith shop.

Terry ..... Good to see you. Nice photo!

Jeremy .... Thanks for the good wishes for Thanksgiving. Sounds like you should have traveled to Galaxy's home to have some of his good food.

Happy Model Railroading.  Big Smile

morning coffee in the diner..

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING!!

Today is Friday,

November 29th,2013!

Today's limmerick:

There once was a boater named Sam,
who when he was stuck in a jam,
jumped from his boat,
yet stayed afloat,
till he went right over the dam

Today's weird words:

volitorial: able to fly

fantods: a  state of restlessness or nervousness; a sudden outpouring of intense emotion; an emotional fit

molimen: a strenuous effort or labor

Used in  a Sentence:

John's fantod came about after a molimen of volitorial activities

Hiya gang!

Flo, do you still have that leatherpunch?? I need to add another hole to my belt!Surprise

Hope everyone is stuffed, I know I am. Just a quiet Thanksgiving with the in-laws (or is that outlaws) Happily all the kids reported in from various parts of the state, the son in China is excused from phoneing in......we'll Skype tomorrow.

After my post yesterday I found out that my Godmother (and Aunt) has had a strokeSigh (Her 2nd) and is in the same hospital I was in (University of MD) She had one 15 years ago and bounced back wonderfully. We're hoping she does a repeat of the recovery, but she's in her upper 70's now. I'll be speaking to my cousin's again tomorrow, to see if she's up for visitors yet. When I asked how severe was the stroke, all I could get out of my Uncle on the phone was "they're working with her, we'll have to see". Real specific huh? Huh?  I know all too well what good work those folks down there can do, and I pray they can help her.Angel

Finally , in the small, small world catagory, ever list an item on ebay, and find the high bidder so far is someone you know?? I've got one right now. If he wins the auction, I'm gonna send him a note telling him the shipping charge can be refunded if he picks the item up himself. Then at the bottom of the note I tell him who its from!Smile, Wink & Grin

Time for the sandman agin, in the A.M. peeps!

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just my decaf refill please.....

I think I ate way too much today.  My Son's house was packed with family near and far, we used up about 1/5th. of the food that was available...  They always have way more than they should have even if they were to feed 3 times the number of people.  Anyway, I will be going back for leftovers tomorrow night (and probably Saturday as well).

After dinner (mid afternoon) I just sat around and enjoyed having so many of the family there.  Tomorrow I may concentrate on getting some more done on the Blacksmith's Shop.  I need to get it finished!

Galaxy, glad your feast went well, and know your father will enjoy it tomorrow.  Jeffrey I'm also glad you got to go over to your sister's house for the day.  Sounds like your getting good at hopping around using the walker....

Hope each of you had a great day!  Prayers for all in need.

I feel like the fatted calf before the slaughter!

I am stuffed!

My back is not only hurling insults it has threatened to DEFECT! It is really bad now.

But I go the food done, served and the dishes done.

I put off delivering my father's dinner til tomorrow. I invited him to come  over, but he is a weather wimp and a popsicle so he doesn't go out til spring!

The feast was had. Not much left over but with a small turkey to be expected. MOH isn't into "leftovers". SO we will have something Beef, no ham tomorrow and beef Sat, and then turkey 'goulash' over noodles on Sunday. Then that will do it for the boid!

HOPE EVERYON HAD A SUCCESSFULL TG TOO!

See yous in the morning!!

Got up to my sisters place after all. It was a group effort. Her home is in no way ADA compliant. My sister brought her car down into my nieces driveway. Using my walker I had to get from my fathers place to my nieces driveway. That meant hopping the steps in front of my fathers place. They're low so that wasn't too hard. Then it was up the driveway to my sisters car. An easy ride up the hill to her house. Then by walker from the car to her front steps. Now this meant sitting the bottom step and pushing myself up backward to the top step then using the porch rail to pull myself upright. Then over to the door where there's another two steps. I literally had to get down on all fours for that to get into the house. Once inside I found a comfortable seat at the table and stayed there until it was time to leave. Getting back to my fathers place was easier because there was only one step to go up, not eight. Boy! What an upper body workout! One of my nephews friends asked me how strong my left leg was now. I simply told him not to get where I could kick him. How strong are my arms getting? I can lift two Apple IIe computers at once, one gripped in either hand. They have steel frames and they are quite heavy.

Still want to redo a scene on the layout just havent got pass the initial planning and drawings on it.

OK, I have two of the seating compartments of the old passenger car programed so far. In the first compartment (#7) there's a chance Oliver could get robbed, attacked or killed. Or all three! It depends on the variables and where he searches. In the second compartment (#6) he might find what was taken from him in #7. Of course there's also the chance he could get killed or kicked out of the compartment! As I said, it's a bunch of criminals on the train. I also programmed the food service area. Oliver will be all right provided he doesn't find the troll that's in one of the cabinets. If that happens he won't be in any condition to tell the tale. Looks like there's some action going on here. Still got nine more compartments to program.

My niece came over and told me that I will be going to my sisters place for Thanksgiving dinner! They will make sure that I get there.

The day is coming to an end and I think I will retire to the sofa for the rest of the evening. No Thanksgiving at this end of the BP - ours was 4 weeks ago...

Just imagine we all would unite for a huge Thanksgiving Dinner - wouldn´t that be nice?

Enjoy your bird!

You know you are having a redneck Thanksgiving if ……………

You’ve ever had Thanksgiving dinner on a Ping-Pong table. does a 4x8 sheet count?

Thanksgiving dinner is squirrel and dumplings. not squirrel, but dumplings will be added to left over turkey...ala "Turkey and dumplin's" like chicken and dumplin's

You’ve ever re-used a paper plate. sure have, often do. If it only held crumbs form being a "drip plate" for bread crumbs, why not?

You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say ’Cool Whip’ on the side. Using them now to hold the prepared-ahead stuff! Complete matching set with a few different patterns!

You’ve ever used your ironing board as a buffet table. works great for the side dishes!

On Thanksgiving Day you have to decide which pet to eat.

Your turkey platter is an old hub cap.

Your best dishes have Dixie printed on them. my father and fIL will be getting ones that say "Dixie" proudly..the best china kind... with the pretty blue flowers  that promise not to leak!

Your stuffing secret ingredient comes from the bait shop.

Your only condiment on the dining room table is ketchup. you mean that is not normal for the tater tots?

Side dishes include beef jerky and Moon Pies. when the mood strikes...

You have to go outside to get something out of the ’fridge. That was where the extra fridge WAS....

The directions to your house include “turn off the paved road”. did until the paved it 10 years ago...

You consider pork and beans to be a gourmet food. my mother sure enjoyed hers..with a little brown sugar and ketchup makes baked beans!

You have an Elvis Jell-o mold.

Your secret family recipe is illegal. isn't yours?

You serve Vienna Sausage as an appetizer.  Try little wieners wrapped with crescent rolls....

Have a great ONe!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Jeff ..... Well. At least there is a paved road to turn off of. ...... Also, the list should have mentioned the sofa on the front porch.

You know you are having a redneck Thanksgiving if ……………

You’ve ever had Thanksgiving dinner on a Ping-Pong table. That was known to happen a couple of times.

You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say ’Cool Whip’ on the side. Still got them too. Where's yours?

You’ve ever used your ironing board as a buffet table. Worked good too until the latch failed.

Your only condiment on the dining room table is ketchup. when you live with Ebeneezer Scrooge that's gourmet dining.

The directions to your house include “turn off the paved road”. Out here that's literally true!

Your secret family recipe is illegal.yep! Sure is!
