for the "Wednesday Nov. 27th" line I pick header 3, should look like the line "MAKE IT A GREAT DAY" BUT the system ALWAYS smashes it together in the larger format..one I DID NOT PICK! The miracles of modern tech...

Make It A

Great Day!

or

Make It A Great Day!

 Works when I do it.

No, NO Jeffrey.

I meant the line "Today is Wednesday, November 27th,2013" is registered as header 3. But it raises it to header 2 and smashes it all together!
It s the "today is..." line I don't like!

It should be the same size as the "make ..." line, not bigger and mashed together!

Oh, never mind.

Sir Madog

It´s gray, dark and gloomy outside we have to switch on the lights. It´s only shortly past 3 pm over here!

Ulrich, SOON, it will be "o'dark:thirty" here at 4PM! Lights WILL  got on aobut 3pm..as soon as the first day of winter gets here! It wil be dark by 4!

Well, will finish of fthe gravy and cut up the squash and boil off the giblets. AFter I finish the dishes I made earlier.

Went to the dollar store and CU. Spent $16 at the dollar store. Never fails, I get to spend there. Got a few things we needed.

Boy, I got a small 2' tree this year, and I tell you the ornaments for sale ANYWHERE this year are SO tacky! {I just don't want to dig out the bigger tree and ornaments..buried in the closer, deeply buried.}

well, I've got laundry going and the dishes won't wash themselves, and I've got to open the turkey to get at the giblets!

Guess what I will be doing?

Oh and I need to run the vacuum..

GOOD THING I got my injects last week!

morning coffee in the diner. GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING!! Today is Wednesday, November 27th, 2013!!! MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Good morning.

Wednesday, November 27th.

That was done in header 1.

And this is done

in header 3

 Nothing got smashed together.

Now to try something different
and see if it makes a difference.

And now for
another line.

Now for a close space
line in header 1.

OK, that last attempt seems to have borne a bit of fruit. That one was close spaced in this fashion:

line 1 here and
line 2 was here.

So it should work if:

Line 1 was here and

line 2 was here.

Let's see.

Line 1 on this line and

line 2 on this line.

Seems to work OK if there's a space between the lines.

Spend the better part of the afternoon teaching the critter how to run properly. Mission accomplished! It required a lot of tweaking and longer runs - much to Petra´s dismay, as the noise is something like a bumble bee in full attack!

I measured the speed now. At 12V, it takes 9 seconds for 1 m. If my math is correct, that equates to 400 m in an hour, multiplied by the scale (1/45) makes it 18 scale kph or a little over 11 mph, which is just correct for this type of engine.

Galaxy - in winter, the sun sets at about 3 pm in my neck of the woods. I tend to forget, that most of you folks are living way down south from where we are, in terms of latitude.

Time to watch the news on the idiot box - see you all tomorrow!

Good morning, or perhaps it's afternoon.  Since I'm off for the weekend already, I don't really care.  After hockey last night, I slept unti 10 and didn't get up until 11.

Yesterday, low 30s and rain.  Today, low 60s and rain.  Tomorrow, low 30s, but no rain.  New England weather.

Ray, a happy birthday to you!  Yup, four-wheel-drive makes you completely invincible, doesn't it?  Funny how so many of the cars I see off the road in the winter have four-wheel-drive.  I used to have a friend that said four-wheel-drive is for getting out of the ditch, not for getting into it.

Todd, we have use-or-lose, too, and worse.  If you have, say, 4 hours of unused vacation time at the end of the year, they take an additional four hours from your time for the following year.  They say they really, really want you to take your vacation time, because it's good for you, but they also pack deadlines into the end of the year, and have had some folks on mandatory overtime this month, so it's tough sometimes to take a week off and not impact your work.  Besides, in November, who wants to take time off?  This year, they have some people working between Christmas and New Years, which is officially "holiday" time for us.  They will be paid overtime plus their holiday pay.

Well, I've got some paving work to do around the tannery.  Hopefully, you've all got your grocery shopping done and won't have to face the crush today.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Afternoon guys,

Went to the cable store to get tv remote switched out, brand new one yet had to fight with the thing for 10 minutes before it would control things, jeesh. All working now.

Went to Michales to pick up some paint I needed then went to get lunch at the frnech fry stand. Got a hot dog,pop and a small fry. On the way home went over to the station and saw a freight come through. The rental car we got was a 2013 Escape. Ours is supposed to be ready for pickup on Friday or Saturday. This afternoon just going to work on the railroad and paint some figures byt first want to flip through the latest issue of MR that came in the mail. Might make a tea also.

Catch up with you guys later on tonight.

Afternoon guys

A busy day today, even though I was off... Raked the back yard, started the weathering process on a few cars, delivered lunch to my father's work, got my hair re-cut, and ran errands.

Ray, happy belated birthday

Garry, Ulrich, Jabear, Galaxy, Todd, thanks for the advice. Perhaps my dad was right when he said I was too picky in looking for a new job. I tend to only write resumes for jobs that are in my degree field (which was big until a few years ago) and have turned down a job offer from a Dodge dealer (ducks to avoid anything thrown by todd) because I'm a Ford guy... Personally, I regret turning down the dodge dealer's offer. But I think my honesty would hurt me as a car salesman.

Jeff, that PRR box looks familiar.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Afternoon,

Ray, sorry I missed your birthday, so a Happy Birthday to you! Sounds like you are having a birthday week.

This morning I painted the Atlas Middlesex Manufacturing building in my workshop which is also the furnace room. When I brought my wife home for lunch she expressed that she wasn't impressed with the smell of paint in  the house. I guess I used that spray bomb a little more  than planned but it is the only way to do brick buildings. I thought I was in trouble as I could smell an undercurrent of paint upstairs but I forgot that I don't really have a sense of smell but now I have again been reminded. Now don't be too worried about my using a spray bomb beside a gas furnace. There is a large door on the room that I keep open and I really only use a few short bursts. I also make sure the furnace won't cut in while I'm using it.

We were supposed to get only an inch or two of snow this morning but it turned out to be about six. I tried to go downtown for my meeting but the traffic was hardly moving so what would normally be a 20 minute drive likely would have been an hour or more. I just turned around and went home. Another advantage of being retired.

Sure wish I lived closer to Galaxy! Sounds like some mighty fine eating will  be going on at his house tomorrow.

There is a large window right in front of the desk I'm typing from and a large spruce tree right outside. It is covered in snow and I see more is falling. It actually looks nice.

I haven't done much today and here it is nearly 4. I did manage to do a little net research on a couple of places we are thinking of staying at on our next Africa adventure. Although we plan on going in 2015, we have to book a year out at least as some of the camps only have 6 tents.

Happy Turkey Day to all those 'South of the Border'.

Evening guys,

Managed to get about five figures painted. I figure five HO figures painted decently to be pretty good ( and within my patienece level, lol ). Cleaned track and dusted off some buildings. I also flip through the new MR that came in the mail today. The wife went to bed about 10 minutes ago, she hasnt felt good this afternoon and was falling asleep on the couch. I might paint some more figures tomorrow and run some trains also. I have been working on incoporating some new operating schemes so might play around with that.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Southern friends. I will be watching the packers game tomorrow but probably skip the macy's parade. I have never got into it for some reason, I like the floats but the musicals and brodway show parts dont really do anything for me.

Galaxy's meal sounds delicious.

talk to you guys tomorrow

Well

RAY_ You have a PM!!!

The squash is cut, I am debating about cooking it tonight!

I really only have to cook that and assemble the gravy.

I forgot to mention  the rolls! Rools too!

Thanks for all you droolers, It is nice to know that without tasting it it sounds delicious to you. Now if everybody who actually eats it thinks so, I will be happy!

Exhausted, though! I could NOT have done all this WITHOUT the injections in my back last week!

Tomorrow if I get everything done, I wil put up the mini 2' tree whilest waiting. We Are NOT going to put up the under the tree mini layout this year Sad MOH got tired of it hanging around! Sigh We left it out/up too long into summer. Didn't even do the treee last year, just the layout !

I am getting too old for up and down with trees, so I got the 2 footer!

Well, MOH snuck {or is that "sneaked"} off to bed, I may go lie down and give my back a rest well deserved!

Well yesterday I had to get a new blood glucose meter as strips for my old one (Bayer Contour) are no longer covered. So now I have an Accu-Chek Aviva. I don't particularly like it. Not like I had a choice. It's all the insurance would cover. It doesn't rest in my hand very well and it's hard to get a single strip out of the container. I usually end up with two or three. The meter came with just the meter and the pouch, nothing else. That little bit cost thirty bucks. It didn't include a lancet either. I'm using the one from my old meter. The meter isn't covered by the insurance. However the lancets tips and the strips are. Cost me just three bucks on the copay for a total of thirty-three bucks.

No progress on Oliver's adventure today. I did however keep myself busy by tearing down two non-op apple disk drives and using the good parts to build one good disk drive. I then tested it on my mothers old IIe. It works great! In the process I found out that the Apple program I have that tells you how much memory your computer has is a fake. I ran it on my mothers old computer and it said that computer has 128k RAM. That's impossible as the add-on memory card was out of it. It has 64k RAM. I cross checked it on my //e, first with the RAM card in:128k RAM, then with the RAM card out: 128k RAM. I listed the program and traced through it and found that the part that computes the amount of RAM had been circumvented by a subroutine that reports a static number (512 which is then divided by 4 to list 128) instead of the actual number. I have another utility that accurately counts up the RAM but it's in my ProDOS utilities. I have to scan and list all the assignments for slots 1-7 and the aux slot. The amount of RAM is listed at the bottom of the list.

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have a decaf and a piece of the pumpkin pie with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese along side...

Galaxy, got it, thanks.  I think you folks will be having almost exactly the same menu as My son's MIL is planning for tomorrow.  I have the Squash ready to go in gthe oven tomorrow morning and the bread and spices out for my famous bread stuffing which will be made as soon as I get up tomorrow.

Jeffrey, I think that Bayer may no longer be making the test strips for the old Contour Monitor.  I had the ContourUSB one and I can't find any place that can get them.  I see at the sites that do Mail Order for supplies through Medicare that all they carry is the newer Contour model which uses a different type of test strip.  I guess I will stay with the Easy-Touch monitor I have been using that is off 20 to 30 points for the time being.  The Druggest may give me a new monitor for it as we think the one I have is no good (I may have dropped it a few months ago...).  Time will tell.

I haven't yet lit the wood stove tonight.  I think that is next on the list...

Later!

Did a little work on my //e today. It has three drive cards in it. Slots 5, 6 and 7. Slot 7 is my master boot drive, slot 6 I use for my two primary program drives and slot 5 runs two data drives. There's only one slight problem. The drive cables connected to these cards push against the card next to them and this causes the cards to lean. The card in the middle stands up near straight whilst the cards to either side lean outward kinda like a paper fan. This puts pressure on the on the contacts on the card slots and it also pushes the card in slot 5 over against a CP/M co-processor in slot 4. That co-processor tends to run on the hot side and I don't want the drive card near it. I thought about tape but that's temporary and can be messy. If I have to pull a card out for any reason it means removing the tape and having to redo it all. Nope. Too messy. Then I thought about all these old insulin syringes I have. Yeah. That's the ticket. My redneck mind went to work and before long I had a piece of a syringe tube that had three notches in it. One notch for each card. Now the cards stand up straight. You can see the result below. The card with the red light on it is the co-processor I mentioned.

Remember the fake memory reporting program I mentioned? I decided to have a little fun with it and changed the static number. I now shows that my computer has 1024k (1mb) of RAM.

My family's Thanksgiving is at my sisters place tomorrow. I won't be there. For one it's hard for me to get up there. For two it's darn near impossible for me to get up the steps with any degree of safety. So I'll remain here tomorrow and enjoy what's brought back.

Well it's time for me to go. I'll see y'all tomorrow. Y'all have a fantastic Thanksgiving!

morning coffee in the diner

HAPPY THANKSGIVING USA!!

Today is Thursday,

November 28, 2013!

Let us give Thanks for all the blessings

we have!

Today's Fun Limmerick:

There was a young turkey named Sam

Who said "for dinner, I AM"

Because he boasted,

He got roasted

and tasted better than lamb!

Today's Words:

epulation: a feast or banquet; feasting

rastaquouere: a social climber who tries too hard to be in fashion; upstart with exaggerated manners or dress

quadrel: a small block (of stone, wood, etc); a tile

Used in a sentence:

The rastaquouere ate some of the The roasted turkey that sat on a quadrel at the epulation.

now for me to go start MY epulation!

Y'ALL have a Wonderful epulation yourselves!

I wish I could invite those here who are lonely, but we are often so far apart!

To all of you SOP and WotBP (that´s south of the border and west of the Big Pond)!

I was able to shoot a couple of pictures of the critter as it is now. The front buffer needs a little touch up and a good dose of rust. Add the window glazing and that´ll be it.

Once it´s finished, I will put it up for sale - even on30 is to small for my hands and eyes. The money I hope to get will be used on a new project I´ll be doing with that new MRRing friend of mine. We plan to built a mini-series (in fact, two or three) G scale models of an LKM Ns2f "critter". What? You have never heard of LKM? That´s "Lokomotivbau Karl-Marx" in the former GDR. Until 1990, they built a high number of interesting light railway locos, the Ns2f being my favorite.

Here is a drawing which I prepared this morning:

... and a picture:

Make it a great day!

And Yes, that is what a dusting of snow looks like! The plow has been out on our road, so I haven't looked yet, but that means there is enough to plow {usually 3"+} or at least to  salt/molassas.

We like sharing our weather with you!

Do you have the heater on in your place so as to not have frozen pipes on these "inclimate weather" y'all are having down there?

Bless your little hearts!

PS: NEVER pour hot water over a lock that is frozen! It will only freeze it MORE.

HAve a great day!!

Good Morning!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all!!!!!!

Nothing but coffee for me this morning, I’m saving up room for the feast.

I think I heard the temp was to be about 39 today.

Todd is dead.SighYup, Todd the Turkey is deadDead Laugh. Friend of mines daughter ( you've heard me speak of her often) raised a couple turkeys for Thanksgiving and her daughter age 9Hmm....8Confused....,9Hmm one of those, named one Todd. She's my little buddy and even though she told me she was having second thoughts about killing Todd, her dad probably didn't care. I'm sure she'll have some whitty remark about how I tasted bad..., or delicious. Whatever she decides at the timeLaugh.

Ray- I had a ’79 4wd Dodge Power Wagon back in the 80’s and early ‘90’s that looked more like a 4wd than the one I have now. And the car drivers were just about as dangerous to me as some of the 4wd owners are to others. They would pull out in front of me I guess, because they thought I could stop better than they could. But like you said, start up yes. But stop….ice and slush is ice and slush no matter what you driveDunce.

Words of Wisdom: 4wd usually just adds another couple hundred to your tow bill.

Jeffrey- Sorry you won’t be with your family this Thanksgiving, but I hope they bring a nice feast back for you to enjoy.

Welp, I don’t think we’re eating until 3 or 4 so…., I don’t have to jump right up and get cooking. Might just put those coveralls in the wash finally, and take a napWhistling Laugh. I will make the turkey earlier than usual, usually it’s done about the time dinner starts. And I think she is gonna do up the ham earlier too. That way the only thing she will do this afternoon will be the sides. Our menu? Well nearest I figure the usual, fried turkey and glazed ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, fried cauliflower (gotta have that or people get violent), 7 layer salad, rolls and, if I get round to it, crab Rangoon. Dessert will be just pumkin pie. I used to make pumpkin, pecan and usually apple pie, but for some reason I am the only one who’ll eat pie for dessert. Most everyone else claims they are too full. Huh?AmateursConfused. Since our parents have passed I am serious in saying we have cut the menu back sooooo much. I kid you not back in the day for Thanksgiving we would have an insane amount of food. Just insane. We would have maybe 20 people, but there literally was enough food for 100. So many different things and enough of each to feed a small army. That has dwindled (for the best) and so have the "guests" over the years. Now it's just us, the kids and the grandkids. Now, we have a reasonable variety and in a reasonable quantity.

For THAT and all you folks as friends and family and especially that my wife is still here and healthyAngel, I am so thankful.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

TMarsh
Words of Wisdom: 4wd usually just adds another couple hundred to your tow bill.

Amen to that brother!  I do confess there have been some times out camping with the troop I have wished my truck was a 4 wheel drive... LOL  Luckily, being a standard transmission man and having been taught well how to drive  under muddy and icy conditions by my dad.  I managed to get out of the problem without it.  A couple of times I had to pull the guy with the 4 wheel drive out of the mud...  Only because he figured if your wheels spin, give it more gas and got really mired....Whistling

Mornin' and a Happy Thanksgiving and Hanukah to all (even those who don't celebrate either one)!

Zoe, just a refill on the dark roast coffee, please.  I sampled enough of the stuffing that is now in the Crock Pot to more than use up carbs for breakfast this morning.

I am reducing some Chicken Broth at the moment which will be used to flavor the stuffing later.  I used to use Chicken Bouillon Cubes...  Then I read the label.  Quick!  Name one thing that is not found in a Chicken Bouillon Cube often these days???  What?  Chicken?  Right!  Just salt and lots of chemicals to make it taste something like chicken....

At the moment something called the sun is out this morning...  Hope the panels clear and fire up.  I could use a few more kWh of power around here...

Hope all of you have a great day.  Drive safely and eats lots!  (Especially if you are driving over to Galaxy's house, I hear he does a mean turkey dinner!!!)

You know you are having a redneck Thanksgiving if ……………

You’ve ever had Thanksgiving dinner on a Ping-Pong table.

Thanksgiving dinner is squirrel and dumplings.

You’ve ever re-used a paper plate.

You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say ’Cool Whip’ on the side.

You’ve ever used your ironing board as a buffet table.

On Thanksgiving Day you have to decide which pet to eat.

Your turkey platter is an old hub cap.

Your best dishes have Dixie printed on them.

Your stuffing secret ingredient comes from the bait shop.

Your only condiment on the dining room table is ketchup.

Side dishes include beef jerky and Moon Pies.

You have to go outside to get something out of the ’fridge.

The directions to your house include “turn off the paved road”.

You consider pork and beans to be a gourmet food.

You have an Elvis Jell-o mold.

Your secret family recipe is illegal.

You serve Vienna Sausage as an appetizer.

You know you are having a redneck Thanksgiving if ……………

You’ve ever had Thanksgiving dinner on a Ping-Pong table. That was known to happen a couple of times.

You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say ’Cool Whip’ on the side. Still got them too. Where's yours?

You’ve ever used your ironing board as a buffet table. Worked good too until the latch failed.

Your only condiment on the dining room table is ketchup. when you live with Ebeneezer Scrooge that's gourmet dining.

The directions to your house include “turn off the paved road”. Out here that's literally true!

Your secret family recipe is illegal.yep! Sure is!

Jeff ..... Well. At least there is a paved road to turn off of. ...... Also, the list should have mentioned the sofa on the front porch.

You know you are having a redneck Thanksgiving if ……………

You’ve ever had Thanksgiving dinner on a Ping-Pong table. does a 4x8 sheet count?

Thanksgiving dinner is squirrel and dumplings. not squirrel, but dumplings will be added to left over turkey...ala "Turkey and dumplin's" like chicken and dumplin's

You’ve ever re-used a paper plate. sure have, often do. If it only held crumbs form being a "drip plate" for bread crumbs, why not?

You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say ’Cool Whip’ on the side. Using them now to hold the prepared-ahead stuff! Complete matching set with a few different patterns!

You’ve ever used your ironing board as a buffet table. works great for the side dishes!

On Thanksgiving Day you have to decide which pet to eat.

Your turkey platter is an old hub cap.

Your best dishes have Dixie printed on them. my father and fIL will be getting ones that say "Dixie" proudly..the best china kind... with the pretty blue flowers  that promise not to leak!

Your stuffing secret ingredient comes from the bait shop.

Your only condiment on the dining room table is ketchup. you mean that is not normal for the tater tots?

Side dishes include beef jerky and Moon Pies. when the mood strikes...

You have to go outside to get something out of the ’fridge. That was where the extra fridge WAS....

The directions to your house include “turn off the paved road”. did until the paved it 10 years ago...

You consider pork and beans to be a gourmet food. my mother sure enjoyed hers..with a little brown sugar and ketchup makes baked beans!

You have an Elvis Jell-o mold.

Your secret family recipe is illegal. isn't yours?

You serve Vienna Sausage as an appetizer.  Try little wieners wrapped with crescent rolls....

Have a great ONe!

The day is coming to an end and I think I will retire to the sofa for the rest of the evening. No Thanksgiving at this end of the BP - ours was 4 weeks ago...

Just imagine we all would unite for a huge Thanksgiving Dinner - wouldn´t that be nice?

Enjoy your bird!
