The heat index today? 105F so both A/cs are going on high to cool us down before the high heat hits, already 80F here ambient.
Went to bed {late for me} at 9:45pm and just got Comfy when BAM! The oxygen alram went off, the A/c stopped and all went quiet except the bloody alarm on the oxygen generator! The power had gone out. Checked the main breaker, it was fine, but reset anyway no difference to power. Went to look and whole street empty of light. NO T-Storm, NOP nothing. Apparetnly no accident either. Only seemed to be the trailer park. Working theory is since it was the park only, that with all running A/cs something blew the electric. ANyway I went on to bed with the O2 emergency Tank as my source, and about 11:15 came back on. Slept fitfully after that, not well at all.

Speaking of Tuesday, apparently our hosts will have this site down tomorrow AM when I usually post my morning greeting, so IF I am LATE, y'all know why!

Have to call AOL as to a warning email we recieved about a "failed billlings" for AOL. That just isn't so. I think it a scam email, I am SURE it is. I dug out the CC bill with the charge on it approved. so I know it is paid for the year. If it is NOT a scam, AOL has something WRONG.

Good morning. It's 73° with 94% humidity. The high will be 88°.Looks like things are getting ugly south of here. Storms are moving off the gulf and intensifying as they move inland. Problem is they're moving right in my direction. Right now the bad stuff is passing by on the west side of the Texas line. But the radar is showing me more bad stuff moving up and it's on THIS side of the state line! There's a lot of red and yellow in those radar pictures and all of a sudden I don't want to be here.Played a game of Starfleet1 late last night and very nearly got my head handed to me! Five minutes in I found a group of four enemy ships in a quadrant that gave them no star systems to hide behind. An attackers dream! Naturally jumped in with a torpedo attack which to my amazement they all avoided then surrounded me and things went south from there. I got two of them but my shields had taken a severe beating. Before I could reset them a cloaked ship popped up and breached the shields and took out phaser control and auxiliary engines. I had minimal shield power, main power was drained and I couldn't maneuver or fight back. So I ran! I limped across five quadrants and lost my sensors in an ion storm before I almost tripped over a starbase where I could resupply and make repairs. Then I went back and taught those guys the error of their ways. I just managed to squeak through and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. I think I'll try another mission today. I can already hear the crew. Oh crap! Here we go again!Sometime today I'll see if I can get into town to make a bank deposit. That all depends on the weather and how cooperative my van wants to be.

Currently 83°F outside under partly cloudy skies with a higher this afternoon of 88°F. I hope to finish moving the topsoil from the side driveway to the garden today. I will probably do a couple wheelbarrows full and then head back in the house to cool off. Need to contact a guy about putting in the fence for me.... On Line there are about 4 different phone #s given for the guy, all of them are old cell phone #s he no longer uses. I haven't looked in the new phone book yet... He is working at a house a couple streets over so I may be able to run into him over there today as well. He was a student of mine several years ago, nice kid, and I would like to send some business his way.
Might actually go hide in the basement for a while and get back to Model Railroading today for a couple hours....

Morning All, currently it is 69 with an expected high of 92. W**k day for me today, so no w**k on train stuff.
Had a great time yesterday at Lake Tahoe, but got a little too much sun. Being out on a boat or just sitting on the beach at Tahoe is deceiving. Cooler than down in the valleys, and with a nice breeze, you do not feel hot or realize the sun is baking you. I am not complaining mind you. just stating facts.
Inch - if and when I find out what is going on with Adobe, I will pass on what I find out.

I didn't have to drive into town to make my bank deposit. My father was going in to fill the gas cans for the tractors so I got a ride with him. When we got back home we were lifting the cans out of the truck bed (smallest one is five gallons) when I used my best Howard Cosell imitation to say " Welcome people to this years Iron Man competition. The first two contestants you see are engaged in our newest event. Competitive gas can lifting'. I lifted a five gallon one out and when it was at about shoulder height I lost my balance for a moment and did the only thing I could do. I plopped down on the ground and also let one off, loudly! Continuing in the Howard Cosell format I said 'And contestant number one is disqualified! The object is to lift gas, not vent gas!'. By this time my father was laughing so hard he had to lean against the truck to keep from falling over. I continued. 'Oh and contestant number two is DQ'd as well. No outside support is allowed'. We both had a good laugh at that one.
Jeffrey- I, too, have been 'venting' a lot lately. MOH to the lesser degree, but I blame it on the FRESH VEGGIES we have been eating. With you , Maybe tis the beans- the musical fruit?
Well I was worng about today's heat index..in the high 90s today, but going into the hundreds SOON.
We have also been warned about taxing the electric grid!!! And the blackouts that can follow..I think last night we had a bit of a demo on THAT.
Staying cool though I have to go get the mail soon. It will be a hot trek to get there.

What radii are you using, and did you just use #5s, or go to long-shanks and/or scale heads? Vincent ....... On Rapido passenger cars, I have 3 of them coupled together in one passenger train with other cars. I have a Kadee #5 at one end of the Rapidos, and I have a Kadee long shank at the other end. This solved a p[roblem which was the cars would derail while being pushed through an S-curve. The diaphragms rubbed together, and the cars would derail. (The cars were running fine while being pulled with a #5 at bothe ends.) My curves are either 30" or 32" on the main line.

Thanks. My club layout's minimum is around 24 to 26. What's strange is it ran fine around it with scale-head McHenrys. When I put number 5s on them, the acted up when being pulled. But they did fine when being pulled. I'll try what you did, a #5 on one end and a long shank on the other. Do those long-shank kadees rub on the bottom of the diaphragms at all?

Sitting here waiting on the meat loaf to come out of the oven.
Today I painted the master bathroom. Not sure I like the color but MOH is happy so I guess I like it. Saturday after the train show I put down wood flooring in my son's bedroom. I figure we have about another 1000 sq ft of wood flooring to put down. I am thinking it will take until the end of August to get it completed based on how much I hurt after doing the one room. Because of the amount of home improvement to be done and how I feel afterword, I will probably be absent in the Diner until I get it completed (same for my train club). I will look in from time to time and will talk to you later.

Flo, can I get a gallon of ice cream in a cup?? I cut the lawn this afternoon, and I've been inside with the A/C on for 3 hours, and I still feel hot! Rain has been gone for 48 hours, but still the AG tires on the tractor were wet on the lugs as the grass was being mowed.........Oh and its Humid too Yech!

Todd, Meatloaf in the oven? Reminds me of the Rocky Horror Picture Show,,,,,When Eddie gets killed off (played by Meatloaf) then cooked and served for dinner. Speaking of Meatloaf, he recently turned 65 and has announced that this years tour will be his farewell tour. Just hearing that made me feel old!!

Just thought Id drop in as I haven't been in since early Friday. I had a GREAT time at the races in Toronto. I met a few guys that work with the teams so that was cool. Also one of the teams gave me a piece of broken race car. Carbon fiber is so light and strong. Weather here all week is going to be hot and gross. Figures I have q dead rose of sharon that I wnt to dig out and another small dead tree in the back. That has been looking bad for a few weeks now. Plus they are so small. Sinve we moved here they have barely grown.

Had a real nail biter on Starfleet1 today. Enemy agents committing sabotage, ion storms, things mysteriously breaking down and a few good old fashioned surprise attacks. I just barely squeaked in under the wire with the victory and got a promotion to rear admiral.Took another look at the park today. Looks like I'm going to need to make a larger foam base for it. Gotta get it first. I'm not planning to work on the layout anytime soon. Just looking at what I'm going to need. It's going to be awhile yet. I gotta get this leg business out of the way first then there's learning how to use a prosthesis and getting used to it and learning how to negotiate things like steps. It's not going to be easy.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

I finished putting the topsoil in the 3rd. and Last raised bed garden today... Also moved a couple more wheelbarrows over to the garden areas to fill in some holes and level the edges a bit. Have about a half yard left. It will be moved and piled in the garden for future use... Finally found an email address for the contractor I want to get a price from to put up the fence. I'll see how long it takes for him to get back to me. I would love to get it installed and done with ASAP.
I did manage to get down to the train room today. Put all the rubber pads I usually have on the floor back down. I had taken them out to dry them when water got in the room last April/May... You can see how far behind I am with things. I unpacked some scenery supplies that came in a few weeks ago, and headed over to the area I was working on back, ah, back when I was down there last.... Realized that a pair of cutters I need to trim the tree armatures got broken out at camp and I had bought some new ones which were on the dining room table upstairs under a large pile of newspapers, magazines, books, and other things. So, I went back upstairs to find them. They were right where I thought they were. Then I got busy up here... Took the pliers and other stuff downstairs a few minutes ago when I went down to shut off the lights.
I did stop over to the local Salvation Army Second Hand store nearby to see if they would be interested in all the stuff I still have from my parents estate that nobody in the family wants. They do, so I will be getting rid of a lot of stuff very soon!

Good MorningAnother hot and muggy day here. Going up to 90F feeling like 111F...indoor living is the thing for this week by the looks of things. Le Sigh....A friend of ours, who owns a couple of stores in 2 malls, told me this morning that it looks like the malls were pretty quiet yesterday...not a lot of foot traffic...this kind of makes me think that most people have taken heat advisories/alerts seriously. Oh, and yesterdays hay mowing took a couple of hours...early morning was still pretty sticky out....Have a good day!!

I have a dying tree that needs to be cut down, just a small one. But I don't think that today or tomorrow is going to be the best time as it will be close to 110 this afternoon. Should I just wait on the cooler temps. Its a eye sore but I don't want to get heat stroke.

Good morning, or as good as it gets at 88 with no relief in sight until Sunday, which is so far out that the forecast can basically be discarded.
I spent yesterday afternoon cooling down in the trainroom, even though I was slaving over a hot soldering iron. I wired up 3 Tortoises for frog power, but I've still got to wire the frog itself, and connect the short leads up to feeders.
Hockey tonight, my weekly dose of winter. I'd imagine that we will stay inside the rink where it's cool rather than having our beers out in the parking lot.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Hot one here already just like the others are getting in the Northeast. Currently 83°F outside with high close to 90* later this afternoon. I still need to get the rest of the topsoil moved to the garden. I will do one wheelbarrow load and then come inside and cool off I think. I estimate there are about 3 more loads to move, so it should get done without any problems. i also will check out the stuff I am going to take over to the Salvation Army store and get rid of. Want to make sure I am not including anything that might be worth some real $$$. i know there are some tea cup sets that are going for $15 a set (I have 5) at Replacements.com. So stuff like that will be set aside for me to see what I can get separately.
Hopefully I will find time to get some model railroading done today as well!
Good morning. Temp 82, humid: 71%, high 88. Mostly cloudy, rain chance 70%. No photos today. Nerves are acting up and have a case of the shakes. Tried a Starfleet1 mission this morning and failed. I didn't destroy the required number of enemy ships in the time allotted. Supposed to be 30 in 33 days. Hey, I got 28! I was having a problem with constantly hitting wrong keys. Yes, I use the keyboard. No joystick. I'm having hard time getting everything correct now. Keeping spell check very busy. Now time to take something to settle misfiring nerves and go back to bed.

Nerve issues are no fun.
My pinched nerve in the elbow affecting the right hand is somewhat helped by a tennis elbow strap. But it still is a painful proposition and besides my already bad typing, the right hand is so slow compared to the left hand I can't type worth a pugged up typewritter "e". {the young'uns are saying "whats that mean?"} I think the good painkiler for the hip is also helping the arm/hand.

HOT HOT AND MORE HOT. Humdidity too. {pronounced HUM-DID-ity} Geting hot over the next few days, SUnday is a reprieve in the 70s then. Just like a warmup in winter, we have cool downs in summer. NOW as long as the power holds out! A/C s working hard comfy now in here.
Drinking plenty of H2O to stay hydrated as I sweat a lot {"perspire" just doesn't call it when it rolls down your neck..its SWEAT then}

Trash man came and went,, so I brought the rolling hopper up to the front of the garage to hose it out. Literally, it smelled like something died in there! Dumped in a quarter bottle of Lysol, scrubbed it out, rinsed it and put it away. Then it hit me....I'm soaking wet and I didn't spray myself!!! Yes kids, don't let anybody fool ya,,,its hot out there!!
Galaxy,, what browser are you using?? I'm running Chrome and spell check works! It even throws a hissyfit when you spell spellcheck as 1 word! (Hissyfit too)

Been clearing the hillside above the driveway of stumps and old limbs. Hit my first yellow jacket nest of the summer so called it quits. Got a can of wasp spray and carpet bombed the area. Next can I'll go in for a strategic strike if I can spot exactly where the little winged force has it's bunker.

Weather got nasty here this evening, rather like my temper which I had a reminder of earlier today. It wasn't pretty. Uncontrollable mood swings are the pits! Incidentally a TV show called Terra Nova seemed to be the trigger. I deleted it so I won't be watching it again. As for the storms, they were long and noisy, the rain short and heavy. Exactly how heavy I don't know but a cow and a flat rock comes to mind. I'm sure my niece will be happy to tell me how much rain fell the first chance she gets. Took some time today to pull the chips in the second Apple IIe and clean the pins and sockets. Pipe cleaners are such handy things when it comes to getting into tiny holes like those in chip sockets. It still requires a CP/M card. Apple #3 awaits but still requires more parts. Yes, the nerves are doing much better. They were pretty bad and irritating before the temper explosion.
