Do you have an ad blocker? If not you need to get one. I'm using Simple Adblock with Firefox. It did a great job of making the pop-up ad at the top of the page vanish.

Me too.  It's easy just to click on the X but it is a little annoying.

I just clicked the 'X' and the banner ad retreated to a black box lower right corner. It stays there as long as I'm logged in. Since I'm logged in all the time I haven't had to click it again.

not for me!

even after i've logged into the site, it continues to re-appear if i re-open a forum page!

I agree, it is annoying!  Annoying your customers is an interesting way to promote your business.  However, it does seem to be the standard, now-a-days.

I understand the objective, but I find the banner annoying and assume the existing tabs are sufficient and/or those who view or participate in the forums are sufficiently self-motivated without the banner.  Therefore, I'd vote to trash it.

However, MR owns the bat and the ball, so if they feel it's necessary and worth the annoyance, perhaps they could at least move the MR graphic to the corner so it doesn't interfere with content.

When I click on the "X" on the forum home page that disables the ad for each subsequent page I open.

I thought it would go away when I gave them my address, but it is still popping up constantly.Sigh

can "Subscribe|Renew|Digital Edition" banner be disabled?
Posted by gregc on Sunday, April 14, 2013 11:13 AM

i need to click on the X to clear the banner that appears at the bottom of the screen each and every time I view a forum page.  it blocks the screen behind it.

Is there something I can do to disable this from occurring each and every time?

Isn't there enough advertisement on the forum pages?
