All right, 90% alcohol does the trick. Oh yes and boy oh boy does that 400 grit sandpaper do the job on the rails Big Smile Long way to go yet but I can see how the "gleaming" idea is really going to work. Wouldn't you know it, just got rid of a set of stainless steel cutlery. MOH doesn't seem all that keen on me cutting up one of the new SS spoons. Guess I'll have to go buy 1 at Bed Bath & Beyond or find some SS washers Sigh

Well back to the sanding.....

Rub Rub Rub.

Evening All,

Sitting here watching Ziva.

Today I raked another bag of leaves, trimmed the bushes, vacuumed the house, and wait for it...cleaned the track on my layout. Tomorrow I have grocery shopping then I am going to try to shoot a video of all the changes on my layout.

Monday the high temp in Orlando was 87 F, and by Friday the high is supposed to be only 61 F. I just love the weather here.

Todd- Have a safe trip.

Garry- Thanks for the info.

Ulrich- I pray that this time works for your family. You need some relief.

Ray- Very nice scenery work.

I hope everybody that has the cold/flu feels better very soon.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

I think I actually had a good nights sleep for once in the past 3 1/2 years.

Why?

1) Found out my truck was not in as bad a shape as I thought (sticky lifters and needed a new intake gasket). Big Smile

2) Was told today that my job status is going from temp to permanent (full time......or is it in my case Fool time?Clown)  along with a 5 dollar and hour pay increase.

Now I don`t have to worry so much about my next paycheck.......and maybe I can buy a house at the end of this year or early next year......basically just something to cover the big basement with Smile, Wink & Grin

If you get washers make sure they're stainless steel and not stainless steel plated. The rails will tear up the plated ones. Believe me. I think by now you know you can take my word for it. Spend the extra money for the good ones.

Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

Met and transfer old YinYang and little ZigZag to a vet techs truck a bit ago. She is taking them in for spaying and I'll meet her back in town when they are done. Nice to have the last of the cats taken care of, so no more worries of accidental kittens. Although there has only been one kitten born in 2 years, that is one too many.

Played on the-bay yesterday. Picked up some more buildings for either town expansion or a second town on the future sections of the (HO) layout. Also picked up a large lot of mini-planes, which I did mainly for resale close to Christmas. Should be able to make a few extra bucks off those to put into the train fund.

Healing thoughts to those in need. Have a good day all.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and pancakes with maple syrup please. Thang…Indifferentwhat? You’re kidding…., well, how about that stash you keep for Ray. Great, thanks.

Not much happened yesterday, ‘cept it sn*wed all day but nothing stuck, in fact the sn*w on the ground got less and less the more it sn*wed. Kinda funny actually.

Today looks to be as eventful as yesterday except w**k this eve and no Duck Dynasty season premiere. Maybe get to do some layout w*rk as I need to do some laundry. I’m out of long sleeve shirts and it’s a bit chilly to go with short sleeve. Hmmmm, maybe I’ll run, or drive rather, into town and pick up a couple shirts. That’d put me right next to the Chinese buffet tooMischief. Didn’t go yesterday because my friend called and wanted to go to Elkhart for fried chicken, and they have the BEST fried chicken aroundYes. Sorry girls, but you can go one more week without seeing my shining smile. Hmm or can they. Dunno. We’ll see.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 39° with 65% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 58°.

The plan for today is to clean up the layout. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen. I hope to get out later today when it's warmer. There's some light outdoor work that needs to be done and I need to do general preventive maintenance on my van.

Good Afternoon!

We are back from our trip up north. Packed up quite a lot of stuff my parents will need after the move to the new home. Why on earth did they buy this huge television set? I nearly broke my back lifting it up and carrying it to the car. Quite a few things are off our list now, but there is still plenty to do. On the way back we stopped for a late lunch at Burger King´s. I enjoyed eating there in the past, but my taste must have changed. I prefer to go to our favorite Chinese restaurant, which offers a nice lunch for even less. No, Todd it´s not that cute Chinese waitress who makes me want to go there (don´t all Chinese restaurants have cute waitresses?)! Then we went to see our elders, who are in a miserable mood. OK, the place is not nice for them, but hey, it´s only 1 week to go until we will move them again. Both are drowning in self-pity - frankly, I can´t stand that much longer. I am giving more than an arm and a leg to help them, and while I don´t expect them to be grateful, I want them to cooperate just a tiny bit. I hope they get out of that low mood soon and start to be a little more active - if not, I have to fear for the worst.

February 28th - time for moving the diner to the March location (already March?) - any idea where that could be?

Have a good one!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with map.....  Huh?  Todd did what!?!  Harumph!  Used every last drop of my personal supply?  Well, then I will have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast this morning....  (used all my personal supply of maple syrup....)

Just got an email from a student at a college we were hoping to have the NMRA Spring Meet at.  Plans were well under way and we were just waiting to hear we got a room for the meet.  No dice.  Ain't gonna happen this year as there are several other major events going on there that weekend.  So back to the drawing board...

Rather hazy outside this morning here in  the Finger Lakes, but not at all bad either.  Currently 37°F under cloudy skies with a gentle breeze.  I will have several afternoon errands to run so I won't get to do any layout stuff until late this afternoon if at all today.  Have to buy a birthday present for Granddaughter #2 and get her card signed and the present wrapped for the party on Saturday.  Call in some Rx's and stop down to pick them up, get to the bank, and a few other things.

Oh, 'mornin' Bill!  Haven't said THAT in quite a while.... Whistling  I do enjoy the photos you post every morning.

So where are we going to set the dinner next month?  Any decisions?  Where ever is fine by me.

  Morning All,

Currently 33 with an expected high of 60 under sunny skies.

Yesterday being Wed. was my day off so I did some laundry, worked on my pick up, battery keeps going dead, and did some layout work. Have annual cardiologist dr. appointment today, so I took today off also. I feel pretty good, but have a few issues I want to talk over with him that could be significant, or nothing at all. We shall see. Appointment is this afternoon, so I will do some grocery shopping, and maybe layout work before going to see doc.

Ulrich - We had issues with my m-i-l when she was staying with us about not cooperating. Very difficult situation indeed and stressful. Good luck.

     Prayers to all in need.

Well, well

We suspected it might come to this:

Took MOH 1 hour 20 minutes on phone this AM to finally find out what we suspected:

MOH's unenjoyment is being contested, not by the actual company that fired MOH, but by an intervening company that acts as go-between hired by the firing company!

The worst part is IF it holds and is successfully contested, then they can ask for all the paid unenjoyment back! fortunately I have not yet spent it! {not much anyway}

**>If it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all!<**

We have a free thing to go to to brush up on skills MOH wants me to go as I can help MOH with things like resume preparation etc. so I have to go too. Also I foudn out at DSS that there is free computer sessions with help for all the major program thursdays form 2-4 will have to go another Thursday to that one.

MOH is seriously {and I am encouraging} to go back to school as MOH wnats to work fofr a local health network and won't be able to without certain letter after MOH's name such as CNA, LPN, RN.

Just what we need is more debt! student loan debt can amount to a LOT to pay back.

well, gotta eat then go to the thingy.

Afternoon guys

After work today I took a bunch of scrap metal down to a place in town. For about 250 pounds of stuff, I got 28 bucks back. Should have gone to sears to look for some special pliers, but I can get a whole pack from lowes (order through their webpage and have it sent to the store) for about 20 bucks.

The hunt for a better job (tired of fast food) or a second job is going nowhere. I'm really thinking of going back to school for IT. There seems to be a lot of that going on here.

Dennis, Do'h. Should have known better, lol. I'm still trying to figure out how to come up with money to get those heads.

Ken, Just curious as to why? If it runs good and has a low stall current on DC, it should stay that way with a decoder. I don't have a spare decoder to test anything with, but I can pull something out of one of my locos. On the GP20 you're going to have to use a slim decoder because it's really tight. (A DH123 fits when the extended prongs are cut off).

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

For an application like that I'd use an N Scale or Z Scale decoder. My preference is the DZ125.

I take it from the above statement then that as long as the decoder is rated at an adequate amperage that the physical size of the decoder doesn't matter....

You got it. The DZ125 is rated at 1 amp, 1.5 amps peak. It has torque compensation, 128/28 speed steps, momentum and much more. For systems so equipped CV's can be read back on the main.

I had chipotle cheese-steak pasta for lunch. I added some of my special hot sauce to it and man was that good! Good and hot! I'm still sweating. I did some clean-up work on the layout this morning. I can see more of it now. There's still quite a ways to go though.

Contractors are at my nieces new home (formerly my parents house) starting the tear-out on the west wing (my father lives in the newer east wing). All the ceiling tile, paneling and floor covering in the west wing has to go. After that the wiring will be brought up to code (currently pre-1970). That means grounded three prong outlets! Before today the only room in the west wing that had them was my fathers office and that was only on one wall. We had put down an eight foot grounding rod outside and run a heavy copper wire inside to ground those three receptacles. That put an end to fried electronics from lightning, in that room at least. The entire west wing is to be remodeled. No more paneling. Sheetrock will be going up. Two full bathrooms will be combined to make one large bathroom. Part of the wall between a large den and what was my fathers office will be removed so it's one very large room. That's all I know for now.

Not the West Wing, First they cancelled the TV program now they are tearing it apart! Must be part of the big cut backs tomorrow down in the US of A Sad

Actually I have the full West Wing series on DVD. I loved that show big time. Funny thing is when it first aired on TV I refused to watch it. Ya just never know

Of course there was also "Home Improvement" I watched the first episode of that and said "Oh right, people are going to watch that... yada yada yada. Before long guess who was watching it Embarrassed

In this case the west wing is about 2,500 square feet. Half of the house.

Evenin' folks!

Jeffrey, will it fly without both wings? Smile, Wink & Grin

OK!  drinks are on me as we get ready to move the diner tonight.  (Ken, only one bottle of you know what though, remember your diabetes!)  What's the occasion?  As of noon today my house has generated over 1,000,000 watt hours of electrical power!  That's 1 megawatt hour or 1000 Kilowatt hours.  A milestone I guess.  Today it produced 10 Kwhs even with the clouds.

Waiting to hear if I am right that Troop 1 is not going to meet tonight.  If they meet I should go over and work with the Down's Syndrome kid on the RR Merit Badge.  My schedule says they are not meeting tonight, but my hearing, I may have written it down wrong.

Started working on revisions to the MLK Scholarship Application late this afternoon after all the errands were taken care of.  Catch you later!

Evening All,

Sitting here waiting on MOH to make it home. She is at our daughters house watching Quentin while the rest of  the family is at counseling. Speaking of my daughter she broke the end of her little toe last night--I don't know how yet.

Went grocery shopping at Wally World today. Got done and there was only 2 registers open.Super Angry. Can you guess how much I like the place.

I made a video of the changes on my layout today. I will post it in WPF tomorrow. What I don't get is why it takes 4 hours to load a 5 minute video.

I look forward to seeing the new location of the diner.

Hope everybody has a good night and prayers for those in need.
