Janie, just a cup of decaf please. I'll be sitting in the back by the stove keeping warm...
Long day... Well actually the same length as any other day but it just seemed to be a long day... You know hat I mean! Blackie spent most of the day begging to be picked up and held, asking for treats, carried to the couch in the living room, and biting my nose... An old habit of his. He seemed to have a good day and was hobbling around pretty well. He goes back to the vet next week so I am keeping my fingers crossed we have things under control with him.
Put a layer of diluted joint compound on the scenery section I am making. I'll try to take a photo or two tomorrow. Went through all the files of the Scouts who are doing the RR Merit Badge with me to see what they still needed to get checked off. There are 2 Scouts who had already completed the MB, 4 still working on it. Tonight I went to the meeting and 2 of them finished the Merit Badge.. Another is completely done except for his trip to the museums to do the railfan part (the model railroading would work for the requirement but when I explained the things he would have to do as opposed to going out to the museum... His dad agreed even though the museum trip will have to wait until we open in May it would be an better solution. The other Scout is the Downs Syndrome kid... Would you believe he only has 3 small requirements to finish. I will visit the troop again in a few weeks and I think he will have it done. He has to work through his mom, but I can see he understands what he is doing. He gets very happy with himself when he can answer the question before the other Scouts! I think it will be his first Merit Badge....
My son stopped on his way home from work after I got home from Scouts... He was picking up some painted plywood for a project he started for the girls months ago, getting the cookies and cards for my Granddaughters. He also dropped off a couple of cards for me from the two sweetest young ladies I know (my granddaughters of course) and my large poit I use for cooking down stuff like the remains of turkey form Christmas dinner... I had brought it filled with soup over to his house for a soup and sandwich supper for the whole family (about 10 people) about 3 weeks ago. What was left in the pot I told them to keep and use up. Since their refrigerator was filled, the pot got put out in the cold garage until they could use it up. That was back when the overnight low outside was around 5°F. Guess where my son found the pot? You guessed it! We have had a few nice warm days over the past 3 weeks, and now he knows what the smell was out in the garage... Anyway he emptied out the pot into the trash and then hit it with a jug of bleach, then washed it out good. It was returned tonight. Smells like bleach at the moment. Someday remind me to tell you about the forzen turkey I had in a small freezer years ago when the freezer quit working and we found the, ah, remains a month or so later...... On the other hand you might not want to think about it here in the diner. Lets just say the freezer eventually got disposed of.
The sun shone quite well for much of the day here, and at noon I checked the Inverter down stairs to see what the yield was. It was showing power at 3200 watts... Not bad for February at all. Today yielded 13.65 Kws. Tomorrow it should surpass what it yielded the whole month of January. Nice to see some power coming off it!
Nice find Jeffrey!
I think Rob is sawing wood . The movie must have done its job!
Have a great night and hope you each had a great Valentines day! Prayer for those in need!

Today was my first attempt to get up and buy some food. Took me more than 30 minutes to walk that mile to the grocery store, back even longer. I am done in, but at least we have enough food to take us over the weekend!
We are having snow again - wish it were Spring. Both Petra and I could use some sunshine into our hearts!

Howdy folks,
Been a busy week for me!
I've spent a couple of hours each day this week on stuff related to my new job. Monday I had the interview. Tuesday I went in to do some paperwork. Wednesday I had my medical (another story) Thursday, what I thought was the last of the paperwork done, told when I'd be starting. Get a phone call today asking if I could come in to sign my offer of employment letter, so they can make sure I start next Wednesday! I said yes every time they've called me as hopefully I'm showing I'm keen to work.
So, there you have it. I'm starting next Wednesday. My hours will be 9.30-6.00 PM, Monday to Friday. I'm happy with the hours as it means I'll miss the peak hour traffic every day, meaning my commute will be about 20 minutes each way, all on the freeway. My official title will be Leading Hand, Freight Handler. I will be taking care of a particular section of the operations on the floor, most of my work will be admin, however.
I've already done quite a few certifications this week, such as RACA which is the Restricted Air Cargo Area, since we deal with alot of international and domestic air freight you need to know how to identify signs of IED's etc. Next wednesday will be solely dedicated to inductions and accreditation, such as gaining authority to operate forklift trucks on site ( I already hold a licence but due to it being governed by Federal and international aviation laws I need to be accredited.)
Uniform is supplied, 5 shirts, pants, hat, socks the lot! The company is basically the Aussie version of UPS.
I'm looking forward to it.
Please return to regular programming.

Burlington Northern #24 hang tight gents as a giant space rock will miss us by 14 minutes literally.
There was somebody spreading a very bad rumor about it actually hitting us here in Towanda. I knew that one was to at least pass by very closely, but not hit us. I think they said that one might hit in 2035 or around there, and by that time, we WILL have the technology to divert the giant rock or slab of iron or rubble pile or whatever the heck kind of asteroid it is.
No. Actually we are going to send space ships up there, and mine out all of its minerals so that there will be nothing left by the time it gets here.

Good Morning All,
34F and cloudy today. I'll just have a regular to go please ladies. Haven't been in much and haven't touched the layout as we scramble to finish up 6 cars to send to Fla next week. This is the official start of the season with testing in West Palm Beach and Sebring followed by the first Sebring race weekend the end of the month.
Jim - Good on ya. Sounds like a nice stable situation for you.
Ulrich - good to see you up and around even if it is in foot. Aren't any ECU's available for your car used? It is often easier to get stuff from a wrecker than new and also half or less the new price.

J.R. - the car I have (can´t say drive anymore) is a French Renault, which is out of production for well over twelve years. Most of the cars were victims of a government subsidized wrecking action a few years back, making people buying new "cleaner" cars. Finding a used ECU is like searching for that needle in a haystack. My garage is looking for one, but should they be unable to locate a suitable unit by the end of this month, I will give up the car. I will get about $ 1,000 for it - spare parts for Africa!
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and leave the pot please. Oh and could you make it Ray’s brand please. Needs to be just a bit stouter than my usual French Roast this morn.
Yes Ray, when a smell like that rotten turkey gets in the insulation of the freezer, or refrigerator, it’s nigh on impossible to get out. Like that lovely cigarette…..aroma, when it gets in your cars insulation. Woo. Phew stinky.
Welp, got our donkeys handed to us in a basket last night at w**k. I don’t think we’ve ever been that busy before. MAN! Told my buddy, the owner, if that happens again….he’ll be looking for someone to replace me. Two people (the normal during the week crew) in the kitchen was NOT enough especially knowing they were going to be extra busy. Even though it went off it, was ridiculous. Only reason it did happen was because his son came in on his own at 5 because he knew it would be busy, and his wife came in and ended up doing dishes to keep up. He kinda laughed sorta and said he was bustin his rear waiting tables too. I said ya, and you got paid a lot more, what between the tips and the profit from the sales I’d a been OK with it too. But for my $35 after taxes (the place is only open 4 hours so that’s all I w**k….usually) it ain’t worth it. He said you’l get more than that because you’ll be here probably til 10 or 10:30 tonight so that's an extra hour, hour and a half. I said Ooo, another 10 bucks. Forgot about that (sarcasm). I said, again, not to make it sound like I’m doin a big favor by working here, I'm not, but I can do that in 30 minutes from my home if I wanted to get back into the car biz. He already knows how I feel about the job, w**k any less and it’s not worth the trouble, any more than 3 nights and I might as well w**k somewhere else and make twice as much for same days. We’ve discussed this issue many times regarding the previous owner so he knows how I feel (and he agreed). Too little help only over whelms the help which causes issues with the orders and ultimately the customers. Not a good trade for the paltry savings to the company. Just because the shoe is now on your foot, doesn’t make me feel any different. There may be people willing to do that every night, but I’m not one of them.
Upon re-reading that, it sounds much harsher than we spoke and I meant it to sound here. It actually was more like a discussion than a ....female dog-ing. Wasn’t meant to be a rant, but that’s what it sure sounds like! Guess it’s “Rant Over”.
Gotta w**k this morning for some special order and then again this evening as normal. With a FULL CREW this time.
Prayers for those in Moscow hit by the meteor (meteorite?). I guess it hit a populated area. Just got a brief glance as they were reporting.

Good morning everyone. ....... Kona coffee and pineapple upside down cake please.
Hmmmmm ..... Earth is being stoned today. The asteroid will get close they say. I also saw the Russian videos on TV.
Oz James .... That sounds like a great job. I hope it is an enjoyable one for you.
Ulrich ...... I hope you can solve your transportation problem. It is troubling when the government makes choices for people such as what kind of car they should drive. We sometimes pay large amounts of money to repair government mandated stuff in the car. Mechanically, the cars are in good condition, but they won't run when the cars computer has is not working correctly.
I made a few signs this week using the computer.

Good morning. It's 46° with 88% humidity and patchy fog. It'll be cloudy with a high of 65°.No particular plans for today. Just whatever comes up I guess.
Garry, some years back, the automobile industry was really down here as well. In order to save jobs, our government introduced a premium to boost sales of new, supposedly cleaner cars, resulting in hundreds of thousand of perfectly running old cars being sent the wrecker. The system paid more than just for itself. The premium was Euro 2,000 and the average VAT amount collected on each sale was Euro 2,800. It was a clever scheme, everybody was just happy - the government collected a nice amount of additional VAT, the industry sold plenty of new cars, the banks were happy, too, financing all these car sales. Only those too poor to buy a new car or get a bank loan for it, were the once kicked in the backside. No old and affordable cars on the market, and now, many years later - no used spare parts around. Take it from the poor, give it to the rich.
Vinnie, no need to get the soapbox out, I won´t go on from here.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a pineapple upside down thingie and a cup of Marrakesh Express coffee this.... What? You have to make a new pot of it... One of the other diners drank it all? OK, I'll wait...
Guess it was a bad night around the world... An Extra Terrestrial object exploded over Russia, an Amtrack Train hit a car parked on the tracks in Macedon, NY, and the sun is behind a cloud here in the Finger Lakes.
I'm wondering how it will be the train's fault that someone drove their car up onto the tracks... I guess the driver was "disoriented". That's what they say. Lucky someone in the car was sober smart enough to get everyone out of the car so they could watch the fireworks when it hit. Did some major damage to the locomotive and the tracks are still closed at the moment.
Currently 36°F with mostly in the forecast for the next hour here. If you don't like the weather in the finger Lakes, just wait a while. The big yellow thing is supposed to come out before noon they say.
Ulrich, glad you were able to at least get some groceries to get through the weekend. Hope both you and Petra are getting over your colds.
I got up and smelled the faint odor of gas again this morning... Yep the burner on the furnace had again come loose. Easy fix, but I will be calling a furnace place this morning to make an appointment to see what a new and much more efficient furnace (possibly with whole house air) will set me back. I can only take out funds ion the old home backed loan until mid July, so I might as well put the furnace on it while I can. I was hoping to wait and be able to pay cash for it, but........
Have a great and safe day out there!

No worker yet. He left a message saying he would be late today. (2 hours and counting) In the meantime, I have been doing what little I can outside. Sad to say, but I really do need the help these days.
Lehigh Valley 2089 Good morning. Burlington Northern #24 hang tight gents as a giant space rock will miss us by 14 minutes literally. The mail carrier has come and gone. I got my 9-oin harnesses for the DH123 decoders I've had here for ages. They can now be of some use. That gives me four Digitrax decoders now. Two DH123's and two DZ125's. Right now I'm looking at one of the recipients of one of the DH123's. A Burlington Northern Roco/Atlas FP7. The other DH123 will go into the Union Pacific Roco/Atlas FP7 after I repair it. Both units will be lubed while I have them opened up. While inspecting the UP unit I could see evidence on it that it was dropped at one time or other as it has a scuff mark on the edge of the top of the shell. It's hard to see even if you're looking for it. As the box is undamaged that means it wasn't in the box at the time or this is another box. That would account for the front truck being broken and some parts missing. I have a gray primered unit coming that I gave $20 for to use as a parts source for the UP unit and it'll provide more project parts. It should be here sometime between the 19th and 27th. That should give Pinky and The Brain ample time to take over the world!
Afternoon guys.
Just running some trains. I have this one loco and turnout that just don't get along sometimes. For some strange reason it will derail it, the part that annoys me is it wont derail every time just every now and then and I have no idea why,lol
