Bullfrog Goldfield #12
Posted by NevinW on Sunday, January 27, 2013 2:21 PM

Been working on modifying a Bachmann 4-6-0 to resemble Bullfrog Goldfield #12.  It consists of a re-wired Bachmann Vanderbilt tender attached to a Bachmann 63 inch driver chassis with the superstructure coming from the Bachmann low boiler 4-6-0.  The Vanderbilt tender is designed to run behind their 2-8-0 and hooking it up the the 4-6-0 leads to a dead short.  It has a Loksound Decoder and speaker inside the tender, which wasn't that easy to put inside there.  For those that are not familiar with completely obscure pre-WW1 Nevada mining railroads the Bullfrog Goldfield RR ran from Goldfield to Rhyolite, Nevada.   Now I have an engine to pull my Alkali Express.

Nevin:

I LIKE!!   Good kit-bash--Roundhouse used to have a Vandy that it sold with their "Harriman" 4-6-0 and 2-8-0 kits way back when, that was just a tad shorter, but the Bachmann looks really good.   I know you've been modeling the T&T--or at least you were.  Any photos of those locos?

Nice work. Thumbs Up

After I weather it and dull it down, a bit  it will look better.  I'm still modeling the T&T.  The T&T gained control of the BG RR after the LV&T was shut down by the Federal Government during WW1.  Here is a pic of T&T #9.
