BATMAN

Well I think I am going to make another epic movie.Cool It will be called Unstoppable III.

This time Captain Kirk returns to earth using Time Warp technology to try and save the world from what the Mayan's declare will be the end.Surprise Taking a page from "Back To The Future" he and Scotty retrofit a powerful steam engine that has been lying idle in a museum for years.

In order to take advantage of free special effects, can anyone tell me exactly what time the end will occur? I want to be sure the trains are running and the camera's rolling at that exact time. With any luck the video equipment will follow me to the netherworld where we can all enjoy it on the big screen TV in the trainroom in the sky. Popcorn and Beer included.Laugh

Cecil, if I may address you so informally, the exact time of the end of the world is Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:11:11 AM (UTC time).  Here is a link to the official countdown timer which I suggest you keep handy in planning any remaining model railroading activities:

http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/to?day=21&month=12&year=2012&hour=11&min=11&sec=11&p0=0

If it's true, we'll all be in a better place....where there's plenty of undecorated models to paint/decal.

Mine doesn't move.......it's at the station!!!

Reminds me of an old joke:

A guy stands on a city street holding a sign "BE READY -  THE WORLD ENDS AT NOON TODAY". As noon approaches he counts down 5-4-3-2-1, then cringes and covers his head. A minute later, he looks around, seeing that nothing has changed, he starts dancing around. "Welcome to the new WORLD" he shouts.

Hmmm...I've wondered about the Mayan calendar and the world coming to an end....doesn't it really mean the Mayan world is coming to an end?  My casual observations tell me their calendar was a few thousand years optimistic.

Anyway...

I can't be much wittier than the fine comments expressed already, so I'll just say what I've done.

I've relocated the bean processing plant to a better location and have prepared the plywood for scenery and ground cover.  I've been building the shells of buildings to serve as mock ups and will go back and detail them later.

I've gotten the bug to work on the layout again, so I've been fortunate enough to take the 2 weeks off work ove the holidays, beginning the 24th, to work hard on projects.

If I'm not too busy running for my life before then...

MisterBeasley

Can we have your credit card number, since you'll never have to pay it off?

Thanks.

Yes I will send it to you in a PM but the expiration date is 12-21-12, so you will have to act fast.

You're welcome.

I can't worry about that.  My underground shelter is still full of ammunition (to fend off the neighbors), cigarettes (the post apocalypse currency), and canned goods that I gathered in anticipation of Y2K.

Think I'll build a few of those 'working' volcanoes and stage a huge natural disaster, with the trains fleeing the erupting volcano. Unfortunately I model the caboose era, so the conductors and rear brakemen are going to have a tough time of it.

Aw nuts, the world comes to an end one week from today according to the Mayan calendar.

Meanwhile, i am still waiting for a recent pour of Woodland Scenics Realistic Water to clear.

I just hope this happens in time for me to proceed on some layout modifications before it all comes to an end.

Forget about pre-orders, they won't get here in time.

And, what about those eBay auctions that are supposed to end on December 22nd?

So, what are you doing to complete layout plans in the short time that is left?
