Photobucket Beta Site [banghead]
Posted by G Paine on Friday, November 16, 2012 2:18 PM

This afternoon, I went to Photobucket to upload for pictures for WPF, and was directed to a beta site for an "improved" Photobucket
http://s139.beta.photobucket.com/

The only thing is that the site would not fully load, that pinwheel thing just kept spinnng around at the botttom of the page. I could not find, see or get to all the photos I have uploaded in the past couple of years Bang HeadBang HeadBang Head

The link back to the "original Photobucket" would not work, just sends back to the beta site Bang Head

The Help link does nothing  Bang Head

The only thing that seems to work is a link to an automatic upload app that appears to suck up all the photos on your computer automatically, which I have no interest in  Bang Head

There did not seem to be any direct way to contact Photobucket, to ask about the problems. Huh? I finaly found a link at the bottom of the Privacy Policy page Tongue Tied, and have sent an e-mail to them about my problems.

Has anyone else had similar problems???

I am stil using IE8, and had no problems a few weeks back when I experienced the change.  The only complaint I have is that placing the cursor over thumbs doesn't yield the drop-down list including img tags. Now I have to click on the thumb, wait for the full-sized photo to load and appear, and then click on the always-visible list to the right of the image.

It is still free and serving me well, so....

I have had lots of issues with it also. I too am still using IE8. Like selector, to post pictures I have to do the same thing. Last night I felt like throwing the computer against the wall. I finally got it to work by clicking on the torn paper icon at the top of the page. Today when I tried to do this nothing happened and the images of  the pictures won't even show on the siteBang HeadBang HeadBang Head.

Photo bucket is definitely crashed!  The front end has changed.  A wait that never, ever ends.  I bet just like MR they are upgrading to something wondrful and new and better and faster and nicer and all that stuff.  Wow!  Dontcha just love it!  Let's fix what was just workin' fine.

I had a friend whose motto was "if I can't fix it, I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

I had a problem with photobucket last week when I tried to post to WPF.  The "new" page let me post, but my pictures were reduced to about 1/4 size. I was able to choose a "return to old photobucket" option somewhere on the right side of the page, which made everything okay again. I just posted to this week's WPF and everything still seems to be working...

I had the same problem. Photobucket changed ALL of my accounts (close to a dozen) to the Beta format without my consent. I didn't like it one bit! It wouldn't upload photos properly, insisted on showing ALL the photos on ONE page and it was hard to get it to link to photos properly. By the way I use Firefox 12 on XP Home. I located a 'Return To Original Version' at the top right of the page and clicked it. Then I had to go switch all my accounts back. Why can't they leave well enough alone? They have a site that works. Why do they insist on changing it? And why change it to something as unfriendly as that new Beta site?

I use IE9 and have no problems with the beta site.  Like Selector, I liked the old layout better.

I use IE8.

I just tried Photobucket and it worked fine using the older web site address, not the beta address.

I had the same problems you did on the  beta web site.  It sucks.

Try to access Photobucket this way.

I just logged in to my Photo Bucket account and no issues. I ignore all the bloat or any kind of offers. Why mess with what works. I use Firefox 16.0.2. I learned years ago to avoid Beta anywhere.

You can easily download Firefox to your machine and let the machine use IE for OS updates. Not a big deal.

I have had problems w/ IE8 (issues w/ forum slow and Photobucket) and also switched to Firefox 16.0.2    Swiched back to old format in Photbucket, works fine.

All I did was go to:  http://photobucket.com/  and sign in. I always sign out of any account when done. My browser is set to clear all data when I close it. I just tried it again and no issues. I ignore everything else.

I am using IE 8 as well. I ddi not choose the Beta either, it just happened. I choose it from my Favorites, i.e photobucket.com, but it re-routes to the beta.

I sent my problems and complaints to support@photobucket.com.

I have Photobucket locked into my "Favorites" as well, and the only difference I've noticed so far with the Beta format is that it takes longer to load on my computer.  I haven't tried uploading any photos from my Picasa program yet (don't have any new ones), so I don't know how that's going to work.  But so far, this new format is just slower to get into.

Last night I had no problems bringing up Photobucket although I didn't like the new format.

After reading some of the posts about problems I just tried and can not get the site to open beyond showing the home page with my name but no pictures.

And to think I complained when MR made a change.

I just went and logged into Photobucket the same as always. No problem with Firefox.

I did get the new version yesterday and like others clicked on the link to get the original version which is what is showing. The new one is lousy looking for my desktop, but looks like made for handheld devises such as smart phones etc.

I have gotten use to the new MRR forums lookSmile and I don't need another "new and improved" site at this time.Crying

Interesting, I tried accessing Photobucket from my IPad,  and the beta site came up OK. Maybe it is some conflict with Microsoft?????

With the introduction of the beta site, there seems to be a lot of consistency problems, when the beta site comes up your browser and when the regular web site comes up on your browser.   In addition, Photobucket seems to be having difficulties with the various versions of Internet Explorer.

I have also noticed on my computer that once the beta site is accessed it is difficult to return to the regular Photobucket web site.  My advice is once you get on the regular Photobucket web site, stay there and do not return to the beta site.  It is unstable and it is difficult to upload photos.

Apparently everything I had on Photobucket is lost. I get directed to the "Beta Site" no matter what I do, and then nothing. No photos, no help, no nothing. Talk about stupid decision making by a company. How can anyone ever have any confidence in this web site again. Why would they redirect anyone logging on to a version that does not work. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Photobucket is not alone in this regard, jumping prematurely into a beta site, although the consequences to the user are more troublesome, especially if photos are lost.

The weather.com web site did something similar, launching a beta site and then switching to it prematurely and permanently.  Now, it is a mess to navigate through.

Too many web sites are trying to do things to act like they are cool, supposedly to be more like Facebook and Twitter and the like.

I use fire fox and haven’t had a real problem except for maneuvering around. It did take a while to find everything in all my sub folders and at first I thought I was in some hacked site.

I hate the new Photo Bucket.

Using Chrome, I selected "Take me back to the classic site" , which it did. Chrome worked fine on the beta site, but I simply do not like the cartoon-like atmosphere. Like many sites I visit........(hint)

I am, also, having trouble with Photobucket. You click on a photo and you used to then click on the little square. Then when you clicked on the IMG link option, the word "Copied" would appear momentarily. You,then went back to the Thread where you wished to Post your photo and clicked on Paste and the photo code would appear below any text that you wished to Post. You scrolled down to Post and clicked on it, and your text and photo would appear at the end of the Thread. Now if you click on the desired photo, the photo appears reduced in size on a black background. What has Photobucket done ? Bob Hahn

Bob,

Consider yourself lucky.

When I login all that I get is a welcome back greeting, no pictures. The options to open an account with facebook and twiter appear to be working but I don't want them.

It looks like I may need to find another hosting service.

What I do on mine is hover the mouse pointer over the photo thumbnail on the album page. A box with four options appears. I click on the fourth option (IMG) and 'copied' appears. I go to my post or document, right click, click paste and the IMG line appears.

I just went to the Photo Bucket site and signed in. All my albums are there and uploaded a photo with no problem.

There are two options on the page. Log in and Sign Up. The Sign Up stands out because you are not signed in yet so they assume you are new.
