Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast Buffet please. Thank you.

Sunny, with a high near 60.

Hey Darryl. Welcome You’ll get to know us in no time.

Jim said he heard the parade vehicles in front weren’t moving so the truck driver couldn’t get off the tracks. Really? No excuse. He has a “professional” drivers license. He should know you never stop ON a train track. You never, ever, even TRY to cross a train track unless you can completely clear the tracks before having to stop. ESPECIALLY when carrying passengers. Like I said, he should have known that.

Jim- Yes I’m kinda bummed about Hostess. I too am a fan of the cupcakes. The other flavors as well. Ding Dongs too. Oh well, I guess I got along when Chocodiles no longer were available in this area and I looooved them, so I guess I’ll survive. I did hear they were going to sell off the recipes or the rights or something like that so I guess it’s possible they may show again. “Little Debbie Ding Dongs and Twinkies”.

Like Ray I haven’t had any issues with Photobucket. But again, like Ray, I have yet to upload a picture. I’m running Windows…Hmm..7 I guess, and IE 9.

Only computer issues I have is the mouse that gives me fits, but like I said before I’ve figured that to be the laser IR part thing that doesn’t work as well as my last one. I might get another. And I think I figured out my “issues” with this keyboard too. Not only is it a taste smaller than my last causing me to hit the neighboring keys even with my 3 to four finger typing style, But I think the keys need to be pressed juuuust a tiny bit further down to work, so that leads to a lot of dropped lettersBang Head. HmmMight get a new keyboard as well. But the again…Huh?

Barry- Spent yesterday decorating uptown and the boulevard as well. I figure I’ve hung my lights for the year. However I’ve been told by, what’s that you guys call the wife, She Who Must Be Obeyed? I’ve been told by her, that there is no excuse for me not putting the lights up this year. Especially since the weather this week will be in the low 60’s and mid fifties after ThanksgivingGrumpy. Oh well, whataya gonna do.Sigh

Herrinchoker- Not sue the dealership? For what? Is this a standard thing they do to all or just her for some reason. Possibly the circumstances I guess. But that’s hard to prove and there are plenty of ways around that for them I’d think rather than be so….obvious with a no sue clause.

Welp, back to piddle cleaning the house. Will have to go into town to get the last few thanksgiving items today. The perishable stuff. Oh and the oil I keep putting off.Which means she’ll wanna eat in town too so there is half the day el gonno. (shakes head)

Oh, I guess I could take a picture of the current disaster area known as Toddland (of which I’m king) just so you can see the monumental task set before me. Hmmmm

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good Morning All, The last few weeks have been filled with the usual fall chores. Five cord of wood stacked, covered, one cord left to split and stack, flowerbeds planted with new bulbs, annual bulbs taken in and stored for the winter, squash taken in, outside waterlines drained, hoses drained and in garage, finally found the leak in the roof over the deck,(enough tar, liberally spread, still no idea where the leak is, two gallons of tar does work) Changed the oil in the mower and in the snow blower, mower put away, snowblower moved to the front of garage bay, new tires on the truck,(front) Bought two for the back last fall at Sears, $600+ for the pair. This year they wanted almost $700 for the same, went to the local tireman and bought the same set for $532 I was pleased with that. Wife was terminated at work after twenty three years, seems the manager of the dealership has a daughter that wanted her position. She was given a severance package, and had to sign a contract to get the severance, that she would not sue the dealership. ( I however, have a bag of half bricks-----) She will be sixty five in January, and will pick up her SS at that time. We are fortuniate in that we only have a mortgage payment, her car and my truck are paid off, so we don't have that to contend with. I will take a deer this week coming, so will not be buying meat this winter. There are three hanging out around the house, so it is just a matter of sitting on the main roof of the house and waiting. The wife hunts on occasion, so will probably try for two critters. Not much done with the layout, after viewing some that you gentlemen have, saw where there was room for improvement, and am starting to remove and re-lay some of my tracks, and will be moving some of my buildings. I enjoy reading the posts, and viewing the picts. Prayers for those in need, I have trod the path some of you are presently on, and have empathy for what you are facing. herrinchoker

Morning coffee and the Sunday Paper in the Diner

GOOD MORNING!!!

Sometimes something-or some people- is/are said to be "like two peas in a pod"...SO:

Meaning:

Two identical items or people

Origin:

This simile derives, of course, from the fact that two peas from the same pod are virtually indistinguishable. The phrase, sometimes given as 'like as two peas', is quite old and versions of it date from the the 16th century; for example, John Lyly used the phrase in Euphues and his England, 1580:

"Wherin I am not unlike unto the unskilfull Painter, who having drawen the Twinnes of Hippocrates, (who wer as lyke as one pease is to an other)."

Lyly's use of 'pease' as the singular form was the norm in Tudor England. The word 'pea' came into use as the singular in the 17th century, with 'peas' as the plural, thus avoiding 'peases', which would have been something of a mouthful. This transition left 'pease' out in the cold and we now hardly use the form, except in the name of the dish of dried peas cooked to a mush - 'pease pudding'. The pudding is itself now becoming less common as it has largely been  superseded by 'mushy peas', which are essentially the same thing. Once that process is complete, 'pease' will be gone from the everyday language - a pity.

New Feature: Joke of the Day:

For the crusty old folks here {I are one}:

This could be us someday:

A Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. During a check-up, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember .... Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks.
'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?' she asks. 'Sure.'
'Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she asks. 'No, I can remember it.' he replies. 'Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to forget it?' He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries.' 'I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?' she asks. Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!' Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment. 'Where's my toast?'

The prayer candles will be lit promptly at 8AM.

Hi ebrebuddy!

Just swinging by to say the play was a blast. It was an adaptation of the movie CLUE  except on a stage with 3 "rooms" instead of a big old mansion. Some of these kids (including my own) are overactors, which really made it funny!

That's mine in the center Big Smile

The French Maid, the Butler, and the General had just discovered the body of their host, to which the General exclaims,"this man has been shot!"

Notice the dagger in his back?? That's how the whole thing went!!Laugh

Well time for bed, gotta get up early and get the Cub Crapette put back together so we can chop leaves tomorrow!!

Good things come in January!Wink

Good Evening

Well, the wife told me that the annual Xmas walk will be held....next week. Which gives me all of a week...actually 4 days to get the house all duded up for Xmas. The event is to raise funds for a local charity food drive and usually get quite a crowd coming through our houses....this will be our 5th one....

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I appreciate it and I'll do my best to adhere to the Diner rules...gonna take a bit to get to know everyone though...and I aint' scared of "Vinnie"  I married into an Italian family, so I got connections too you see...they even own a couple restaurants.. one of which they filmed a scene from "Rainman" in them back in 1987...really cool hanging with Tom and Dustin. Cool

I posted my current layout status over in the General Discussion Forum, so be sure to check that out there if interested.

Cuda Ken...Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of Bragg, but I do have plenty of memories, especially of those morning PT runs in "Area J"...my son-in-law went to Bragg a couple years ago and took a few photos of the new barracks...seems they replaced nearly every building since I was last there.  The only contact I had with the Screamin Chickens was during Operation Bright Star '83 in Egypt and when I went to Campbell for Air Assault School in '85.

Regards,

Darryl

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just my cup of decaf please...

Jim, nope, can't use the hours of service at the Museum for the NMRA Certificate.  About the closest is that I can claim credit for being the committee chair for the Modelers Corners at a couple train shows not sponsored by the NMRA.  The the purpose of the Modeler's Corner is to both teach about the hobby and to promote the NMRA.  The RR Merit Badge is an integral part of the work of the NMRA over the years and so is imbedded in the Volunteer Certificate options.

All the talk about the "new Beta Software" over at Photobucket has been interesting.  I have not had any problems with the Beta Software.  In fact I like most of it as I can now scroll down through the photos in an album without going back to the top of the page and going to the next page, etc.  On the other hand I don't keep 4000 photos in one album....  I also like the fact that the listing of my albums are actually there and work.  For the past couple months I had to reload the page about a dozen time before the little bar that goes up and down to show all the entries would show up so I could find my Model Railroader albums...  That said, I haven't tried to upload any new photos yet.  I also stay logged in to my page and go directly there from my bookmark.  I am using Firefox 16.0.2 on my iMac... Only thing I don't like is that it takes an extra click to get to the links to use a photo here.  Even that is not terrible as I often enlarged to see the photo before I copied the [ IMG ] thing anyway.  To each their own I guess.  I had a lot more problems with the downgrade here last time it was foisted upon us!

Got a bit of new scenery accomplished today in the train room as well as starting the sn*w blower and moving it to the decak in anticipation of needing it sometime in the next few months.  Put the Rototiller away for the winter, and mailed off the Statement of Qualifications to the Division AP manager as he was having trouble printing part of it when I  emailed it to him.

Going to attempt to make it to church tomorrow (two weeks in a row), so I think I shall call it a night.

Prayers for everyone in need!

Jeff, The F-unit looks good.

It looks great considering it's about forty years old.

Time for me to call it a night.

No news about my mother in the last twelve hours. In this case I guess no news is good news. Just not knowing makes it difficult.

See y'all tomorrow.

Evenin' Flo, how about a bowl of chili with some grated cheddar and a little chopped onions on it, plus some of those oyster crackers and a RBF, please. Thank you. Dinner

Ray, from the various times you've talked about (all) the troop(s) you w**k with, they all sound like a bunch of fun (and fun for them, too, I'm sure)! I was thinking - do you get to count your hours helping out at the RR museum also? You were fortunate on that building permit.

Ulrich, I doubt that you are THAT much of a pest for Petra, right? (Or would we get a different report from her?...Smile, Wink & Grin). I see that your time at the train show was productive and entertaining. Thumbs Up Nice loco - is that a steam version of a 'slug'? Or a different freight car load? Looks interesting, for sure.

[Edit:] Sorry to hear of your sister's health slipping, Ulrich. Keeping her, your family, and Jeff's mother on my Angel list.

Jeff, sorry to hear about your mother having to go to the ER. AngelAngel in process. Please update us as you hear (and have the time). The F-unit looks good.

Ray, sorry to hear about the camper's passing, and prayers for his family & those who knew him. It is unusual for him to go at only 21 years, unless he had some hidden medical condition like a heart problem or such The prayer list sure is getting longer lately..

Barry, unless they used epoxy paint (and likely, also cleaned up the corrugated aluminum as well), I wouldn't be surprised that the paint didn't stick very well. Only thing I've seen that reliably sticks to it, is rust.Whistling (And I'm adding some rust spots here & there on that roof section...)

Galaxy, I read every one of your morning posts that I see (well, I am out some days and don't get all the way caught up...). Glad you're doing them (I find them pretty interesting, by the way). Smile You do have me  interested as to how you find all those tidbits..? It's probably okay that you're lighting just one candle now (though with colder weather coming, the extra candles could hold down your heat bills..).

JohnReid, thanks for the good news on your wife's surgery; now take good care of her once she gets home. YeahThumbs Up (I'm sure your wife will get to know the joys of physical therapy soon enough...)

LSWrr

I was stationed across the street from their research and development center for 2 years and we test drove most of their appliances.  If a USCG Unit can’t destroy it then it’s good to go!

Laugh You were a bit hard on those washers and dryers, were you, Lee?  As for the health care thing, I will keep my mouth closed (other than to say that it's THAT time of year (to look over which provider has changed what coverage provisions)...(razafrat, $#%&*-grump-grump frazensplat...) Otherwise, I'll have the SoapBox coming out of its corner.Oops

Garry, I'd love to take credit for - as you called it - "Putting together" the building, but Whistling... the building comes with all four walls and that roof as one piece(!). I have no idea how he manages of make the castings all in one unit (especially  with the level of detail on the sides and even the tarpaper roof detail)!. I've just been painting it, so far. The doors and windows are (I think) Grandt Line in origin, and there's a (cloth) awning, sidewalk castings, and an outhouse (also all-one-casting for the privy...). Except for the awning assembly, it's simpler than a DPM kit!Wink

On that train wreck in Texas, one report I heard said that the truck driver was trying to move off the crossing as the bells started clanging, but the parade vehicles ahead of it weren't moving fast enough (or maybe not at all). I'd agree with Garry, that they should have at least had an officer directing/holding up traffic at the crossing. Hindsight, of course, is much better than at the time seems to be. AngelAngel for the families who were there, were injured or even saw it happen.

CDN Dennis, I'll have to take your track plan (a printout of it) and hold that in front of a mirror to read the descriptions. Oops The plan looks very usable (and fun) - like it! (2 feet aisle? Pretty cozy if you have another operator! Wink

Jeremy & JR, I think I'd have to stretch my legs at least a couple or more times if I had a 14 hour flight...(Of course, I'm no fan of the current ("grope or bare-it-all-x-ray") approach to flying, so that may not be a problem for me anytime soon.)

Karl - good for Midnight! Laugh Even cats have to train the young'un's about how to 'pace themselves'... I'm sure you will have a great time at your son's play tonight!

49 foot tall tree? Surprise Jeff, you'd have to add a couple/three more stories to your home to fit that in! Glad it's not 1:1 scale. Yeah

Darryl - Welcome to the Diner, and have a beverage of your choice on me. What type of layout are you building (or have started already)? Fill us in on your plans and/or progress. Smile Stay safe so you get to that retirement, too. LEO's are not in the safest line of w**k, but we appreciate your service. Oh, one other thing in addition to what Galaxy told you, is that if you're short on 'cash' and get the TOP (top of page), you also can pay off the tab by washing dishes in the kitchen (there're always dishes to wash in a Diner...). Smile Also, our servers include Zoe and Chloe (twins), with Zoe usually covering weekdays and Chloe covering the night shift. On the weekends, and some holiday, our other servers (Flo, Janie, and another couple whose names escape me for now..) serve in the Diner. Vinnie is Zoe & Chloe's cousin (as mentioned), and he tends to anyone whose tab has (ahem...) gotten a wee bit too far behind...(Even you don't wanna get on Vinnie's bad side...). So wash those dishes, if need be. Oh, yeah, Vinnie makes sure that if we have a celebration in here, it doesn't get out of hand. Smile, Wink & Grin (And don't pinch Zoe or Chloe... Flip can vouch for that!)

Curt, sounds like you and Flip had a great time visiting today. For what it's worth, when I went to PBucket a few days ago, I was trying to find out how to switch back to the 'old Photobucket' settings like the message said I could (when I first arrived at the site). Never did find it, but I was able to get my photos uploaded for my previous post (of the Frenchman River Bank). (I'm NOT a fan of the new style, either...)

Jeff, how do you change Photobucket back to the old (and simpler w**king) format? Fill me in, PLEASE! Thanks, I saw your later post about how. Will go change that as soon as I get done in here.

I did some more painting on the Bank (NOT Bank of Stupid, Ken...)Wink today, and it's beginning to shape up (but still a bit to go). I also started some painting of the DPM Townhouse Flats kit. The tops (Parapets?), plus the 'stone' over windows, and the sills for windows and doorways, mostly.

Well, anyone 'crushed' about Hostess closing up? The Twinkies I don't care that much about, but I did love the Cupcakes (with the little 'icing' squggles on top of each of the two cupcakes - who knows what that was made of - pure sugar?)...Dinner Ah, well, life goes on... whether we wat to, or not, some days. Smile, Wink & Grin Amazing to hear of the people buying couple dozen of Twinkies and some showing up on deBay for sale. Wow

Will post photos of the bank and the flats progress tomorrow. Finished up my chili and my RBF, so I'll be heading by PBucket to change it back, and then head for home.

Prayers for all those in need (and family members and loved ones, as well).

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

BTW, that thing about photobucket beta being "crap with a capital C" is a bit of an understatement. lol

I know. They won't allow me to say what I REALLY think of it. That would scorch too many eyes and ears.

Jeff- I wish I could go back to the original. When I click on the link noting happens. I have also tried right clicking and open with the same results.

I just switched over to the NEW Photobucket and looked around a bit. Once again I hated it. went to the top right corner where it had my user name. Between the user name and the 'Search' was a barely visible line 'Switch Back to Original Version'. I clicked that and a box popped up with a list of reasons I wanted to switch back. I picked one then it asked if I was sure. I clicked 'Switch Back' and I was back to the old Photobucket.

Might your problem be in your settings? Could be a browser bug? I'm using Firefox with Windows XP Home.

Evening guys

Went to the train club today and got my SP black widow F7A and F3b matched to each other. I ran around with the string of the club's PFE reffers for a bit before running my train. After that I primered the F-units I've been working on and have discovered I need to do more sanding and finish with something smoother than 400 (maybe wet sand) and preferably wash them before hand. The crack areas cover nicely though.

IDK why, but for the last few days I've been really tired. I'm also having trouble sleeping at night. Maybe I need some more sleep meds or something....

Flip, that would have been me with the Dr. Pepper and the Habenero sauce. It probably didn't help that I poured it on thinking it was normal hot sauce.... I'll go easy on it next time lol.

Jeff, Sorry to hear about your mom. BTW, that thing about photobucket beta being "crap with a capital C" is a bit of an understatement. lol

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I would post some pics but my photo bucket has not worked in a day and a halfBang Head. To say it is frustrating is putting it mildly. Does anyone else use a different photo sharing program to post on this site?

I was having some Photobucket problems too. Beta version! The beta version is crap with a capital C. I switched it back to the original version and no problems since.

Evening All,

I have had a really nice day. Went up to LHS and met Phil there. After I finished my business there, Phil and  I went out and got some coffee and talked for about a hour or so. I  really enjoyed myself. Phil and Deb donated a large storage container of kids clothes and a Lionel train set for my daughter and  her 2 new boys. I couldn't thank Phil enough it was extremely generous of them.

When I got home my daughter , SIL and my 2 new grandsons, Tony and Quinton were there. The first thing out of  the boys mouths was can we run a trainBig Smile. So we went upstairs and ran a train for a little bit. They are still young enough so they are kind of grabby. I will have to set down some ground rules for the future, but I look forward to many fun times with them.

After they all left I did  some detail work on a F7 I have. I put on Train Phone Supports (uprights), Lift Rings, Hand Grabs, and a new Horn. Tomorrow I will use Phosphor wire and run it through the supports then I will need to do some painting. I would post some pics but my photo bucket has not worked in a day and a halfBang Head. To say it is frustrating is putting it mildly. Does anyone else use a different photo sharing program to post on this site?

Darryl- Welcome. Please thank your son for his service.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Darryl

Hello all,  It was suggested that I head over to "The Diner" and tell everyone a little about myself, since I'm new around here....so grab a pillow and try not to snore to loud Wink

I have been in law enforcement over 25 years and hope to retire from my present job late next April.  I won't retire entirely,

... but I hope to have more time to devote to my dream train layout, which is why I am now here visiting you all.

I have been married for nearly 30 years (to the same woman) and have five children (who have the same mother) and five grandchildren...well four and one on the way.  God has blessed me far more than I deserve, so I hope to start giving back as much as I can and I hope to relax a bit more, reduce the stress in my life with this hobby and I look forward to getting to know many of you here.

That's it in a nutshell.  Thanks for having me! Bow

Darryl

Hi Darryl! Welcome to the Diner! Glad to see you stopped in. thank you for such a good self introduction!

WATCH IT GUYS...HES   A COP!!!    Quick Vinnie! Bar the door to the hidden casino! No one gets in now!!!

I frequently  get asked to psot some "rules" so here are the rules and are simple ones here {for ALL newbies}:

1} NO talk of politics, religion, "hot topics" in the news or other "flame war topics" that will start a "flame war". The ONLY religious expression allowed is to allow for "special thoughts and prayers" for those in medical need or who have passed.....you DON'T need to be religious to believe good thoughts can be healing or that for the passing of someone. I am te self-appointed and DIner-appointed "keeper of the flame" of the Prayer candles. Because MOH {My Other Half} also has ministerial duties, we keep real prayer candles going on need. Tehre is one always lit for prayer adn good thoughts and well wishes, and another I light for hte DIner members "exclusively" so to speak for those in need.

2} NO RISQUE {Dirty} Jokes, puns, innuendo in words OR pictures posted here ! This IS a family site and we DO have very young readers here so..keep it clean!

3} Posting of Pictures should be limited to one or two per post in this thread. Our gracious hosts thusly request so it is done. the pics can be non-train or MRRing related, but please limit htem and no risque pics of women or cartoons of women considered risque..our hosts HAVE come down on some for posting just such!

4} If you get the top of The page you have to "buy" all the posters on that page their dinner. You can use a "credit Card" "good check" or "cash" to pay.ALl menu items are jsut as you like it or as momn made it, have 0 calories and taste as good as they "look". A good tip is around 15% adn a nice tipper, which the wiatresses appreciate, is around 20%. the wiat staff is  a strong part of our "family" here, so include them! Flo, Daisy, Chloe and the rest of them will appreciate being respected as well!

5} The diner gets moved the end of each month. SO look for a new one the night of the 28,29, 30, 31 {depending on the month and year} and on the morning of the 1st!  It gets moved" to a new area and new month title.

6} No personal attacks or vendettas, or cyber-bullying against someone in here..our HOSTS and user-moderators will take anyone to task who does such actions!!! Keep it cool and civil!!!

7} You can talk about your day, your life, what is going on in your neighborhood or anything like that that is civil, clean, and non-inflamatory as listed above. This is the ONLY thread on these forums you Can do this in.

that about covers it.
So come in, sit down and have a chat..and enjoy a Coffee or a Drinks or a Beer and a Pizza or Cake or whatever you'd like to have and relax and enjoy yourself!!!

Oh, cousin vinnie is our bouncer and according to Jeffrey here  {aka Scott Running bear} he can bend crow bars with his bare hands!!!

Jeffrey is also a freindly user-moderator who can be contacted for forum problems or concerns. Just instant message him. He will attend to it if he can or report to our hosts.

HAVE a GREAT afternoon!

Thanks, folks, for all your kind thoughts and prayers!

My parents are going through a rough time. Children are not supposed to go before their parents. There is no news about my sister, which I hope is good news. All we can do at the moment is wait.

I have been trying to get my mind off the sad situation and started on the construction of the first building. It´ll be my first scratchbuilt building, so I am a little nervous. I made a 1:1 print of my drawing to get all the correct measurements, which I then transferred to the 5 mm foam board. Measure twice, cut once! Of course, I made a mistake, but was able to correct that in no time.

The window inserts are all laid out, but it is hardly visible in the picture. Tomorrow will be cutting time, if I find the right attitude for it.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast please.  Oh yes, I need my dark roast fresh dripped coffee as well.  use my FGLK mug please.

Darryl, welcome aboard! WelcomeWelcome  Great bunch of folks here at the diner, I'm sure Galaxy or one of the others will fill you in on procedures here in the dining car, so I will just say Hi! for now.

I have already been busy this morning.  Just got home from the post office mailing my Statement of Qualifications Form to the Division Achievement Program guy.  I tried emailing everything, but he was having trouble with a couple pages, so I figured it was just as easy to print them and send it to him.  The SOQ was electronically signed by me as well, and very likely the guy the next step up in the process would send it back for a "proper" signature anyway....

The big yellow orb is busy shining outside at the moment providing me with some electricity for the house.

Jeffrey and Ulrich, keeping you and your families in my every prayer!  Thank you to those who are keeping my former church camper in their prayers.  I know the family appreciates it!

Later!

Well,well

dishes almost done.

Two loads of three laundry are done.

Soda cans/bottles bagged and counted for return to the Can Man for redemption at 6.5 cents per each.

Pantry half reorganized.

Vacuum is out, but don't know if I will get to run it. Takes a LOT of energy out of me and my back to do it.

I do one chore until my  back gives me grief, then rest and change to another Eventually they will all be done.

petite filets wrapped in bacon {oh the horror!} for dinner, which may occur at 2pm whne MOh gets home. MOH has a need to go take a nap and nto wake up til the next day without much more than a sandwich to eat. Not good, MOH needs proper nutrition too!  So we are moving dinner hour up to 2pm instead of 5 pm. The new early to work adn early out of work schedule does that to MOH.

Well, I'd best get back to the grind.

Hope all is as well as can be today!

Hello all,  It was suggested that I head over to "The Diner" and tell everyone a little about myself, since I'm new around here....so grab a pillow and try not to snore to loud Wink

I am 47 years old and have been a life long resident of Cincinnati, Ohio all my life, except for the time I spent on in the Army back in '83 to '88 and again in '94 to '95.  Most of my time in the service was spent as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Div. (CSC, 2/325th Abn Inf.) and as a Mortar Gunnery Instructor at Ft. Benning, Ga (Bco.,1/29th Inf.).  The army was one of the best decisions I ever made and I loved it. I miss it to this day. Now I live vicariously through my youngest son who is a Combat Engineer and is currently serving in Afghanistan hunting for IEDs on the front lines.  Needless to say, it's a bit unsettling, but his mother and I couldn't be more proud of his choice at an age when so many young people have no direction...but I digress.

I have been in law enforcement over 25 years and hope to retire from my present job late next April.  I won't retire entirely, but I'm done dealing with the evil things people do to each other and seeing the things I've seen.  I will still have to work awhile to pay off the houses (anyone want to by a vacation home in Cumberland, KY?) Big Smile... but I hope to have more time to devote to my dream train layout, which is why I am now here visiting you all.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the breakfast surprise please. Thank you. (sets out bottle of Tums just in case.)

Jeffrey- Prayers for your Mother. I’m sorry to hear the news.

Lee- Yup. Well don’t know about the stickers on the inside, but I do know about the several brands are pretty much basically the same machine. Back in ’96 when we were shopping for a new refrig-a-deezer, the guy said you can tell who makes what by looking at the design of the water and ice dispenser levers. If they look the same, they’re made by the same company. They just get together and pretty much set aside certain design features for each brand based on the perceived market level and to kind of give each their own buyers appeal. The knobs are another give away for other items. By the way….Thanks for your service to our country. Signed………CongressGrumpy.

Garry- Oops.Embarrassed  Sorry. I really need to think before I speak. It just kinda comes outWhistling. What’s the old saying? Put brain in gear before engaging mouth. Laugh

Ulrich- I’m sorry to hear about your sister. Prayers for her as well as Jeff’s Mother.  And please, tell your friend he does fantastic work! I especially like the brick work in the shop. The detail with the stains is superb. Thanks for sharing.

Bad news all around

Ray- I’m sorry to hear about the young man. Prayers for his family’s comfort.

Flip’s right. Oils and water don’t mix and liquids have an immediate cooling effect, but generally they just spread the offending oils around. Milk being one exception. I usually eat flour tortillas. Sometimes crackers, piece of bread, something to actually soak up the fuel.

Welp another day, another mess to clean. I’m a getting there though. Still no word on the dust collectors for the dining room walls. She now is up on the Boulevard decorating for the holidays.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 47° with 75% humidity. It'll be mostly sunny with a high of 68°.

No news on my mothers condition.

Plans for today is to clean up more of the layout. There are still some places I can't see the track.

I need to start getting my Christmas tree ready. I have one that should work quite nicely. It's a whopping six and a half inches tall. Well that is about forty-nine scale feet. I'd have a heck of a time trying to get something that big in the door!

Jeff .... I'm very sorry to hear about your Mother. I saw in your post, you went ahead with some model railroading. My experiences tell me our hobby can be comforting during tough periods in our lives, and I suspect you have feelings like that too. Prayers for your mom and your family.

Ulrich ..... Continued prayers for your family especially for your sister's health. Prayers for your health, too. I suspect your parents had difficult times in their earlier years with all the stuff happening in Europe back then; and so you may just keep loving them for who they are.

Ray ... I'm sorry to learn about the death of a young man. Prayers for his family..... Some of the houses around here were not put together with building permits for certain.

Flip ..... Good to see you.

Cheers, everybody
