Good Evening Folks!

Just dropping by to say I am still around, though not in a good shape. My ongoing health issues are showing effects on my spirit - I have pretty much lost interest in anything. Petra tries to cheer me up and motivate me, but with no luck for the moment.I have a hunch that something nasty is ahead of me.

Garry - I am glad to hear your first surgery went well. Keeping my fingers crossed for the coning two.

Welp, I am out again - blessings to all of you!

Afternoon Tea in the Shade...

Going to be a hot one here in the Finger Lakes today.  Currently 85°F under party cloudy skies with a predicted high of 93° around noontime.  Major heat advisory for most of central NY today....  No kidding!  Good news is there will not be any snow today!  Yep THAT is what it says at the weather channel website!  No snow in sight!

Some to east of us, RAY got LIQUID SNOW falling on 'em.!!! Hmm

I think I like Jeffrey's idea, and stay inside in the A/C. I was already out in it to go to Wally world and was HOT and HUMID and HAZY then at 9AM!!!

MOH, has to mow our lawn and got trim the FIL's hedges.... OF course MOH can withstand the ehat and espcially the humidity better than I. WE are borrowing the neighbors lawn mower to do the job as ours is kaput. I feel sorry for MOH as it is high, but that is MOH's fault for not tending to it sooner..like I suggested ...Whistling

Well, stay cool..maybe I meander down to the mailbox soon. Nah wait an hour til 2:30 when I KNOW it will be in {and then find nothing in the box}.

Stay cool..

  Morning all,

Expected high today 102, don't think we will get there, about 100 is probable.

Have a closing shift today, but may stay home to help with my wife, if she needs it. Daughters will be coming over in the afternoon to help out too and see mom. If I stay home I will charge up the battery on the Isuzu pu.

I am thinking of doing a hard wire for my BB Athearn loco's. I remember seeing it done somewhere but do not remember where. (I suffer from CRS) Anyone do this or have an idea how it is done and if it is worth it? I know alot of people do not like the BB Athearn's but I have 5 and do not want to just trash them and spend $ on better (?) quality ones. At least not at this time. Doctor bill may be very large, even though I have medical insurance.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a nice big bowl of organic Pumpkin seed Flax Granola cereal with a bunch of fresh blueberries on it along with a cup of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please.

Todd, glad you noticed just how long my workbench stayed clean......  Hey, how can I get anything done when I'd have to go searching for tools and materials?  I like to keep everything out in plain sight where I can get to it...  (Now where did I leave the pliers???)  I see you have been cursing your curser......  So what goes away, the curser or the screen?

Barry, I'm with you.  The train room looks like a good place to spend the day!

I'm still waiting on all the paperwork to be finished on the Solar Installation.....  Looks like it may not be installed until September now.  Screws up plans for a party here for my old teaching Dept. from the Middle School and a Family get together I was hoping to do.  Oh well!

Later!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and scrambled eggs with swiss cheese and a side of bacon please. Thanks.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 107

OK, Womens Beach Volleyball is on today. Why can’t I find a schedule of airtimes for events? I’ve looked all over and can’t find any other than actual event times which does me no good.Grumpy

Super AngryI really hate this annoying thing where in you drag your curser to the lower right corner of the screen and it goes away. Apparently, that seems to be the natural direction the thing heads when I move the mouse out of the way to type.

Jeff- It may be old, but your voltage regulator costs way less than a new alternator nowadays. Remember when you could get one at the auto section in Kmart? Shoot, you used to could get everything you needed to tune up your car from Kmart. As for your Mom, sorry she’s not coming home, but….., may be a good thing. At least they aren’t kicking her loose at the first sign of getting better only to have her go down again in a day or two and right back in. They used to do that to my Mom and Brenda’s Mom. Probably cause Medicare paid less than insurance companies. Problem was they’d just end up back in there. Kinda like a yoyo.

I always like looking at Ray and Jeff’s w**k…um...Hmm…areas. They make me feel so normal.

Welp, didn’t do anything on the floor yesterday but go to town and get a valveEmbarrassed. Haven’t heard about it from wifey yet either. She must want something. Did watch a Tarzan marathon on ACMYes. Today though, I shall go like gangbusters until it’s Chinese buffet and Grocery shopping time (around noon), then nap, then back on floor. Unless Mr Murphy gets involved there should be no reason I don’t get all but the tiny linen closet done with plenty of time to spare. It’s location requires that it be last in spite of it being in the back of the room and doing first as you would assume.

But first……..

I must find Xue ChenWink.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good morning. It's 77° with 93% humidity. It will be partly cloudy with a small chance of rain. The high will be 95° with an index near 110°.

My plan today is to stay inside as much as possible. I did a little more work on the slug last night. Sanded the sides a bit to smooth them out more. The hot glue I used to fill in the portholes made quite a mess and that stuff doesn't like to come off easily. I'll probably do some cleanup work on the layout today. It's a mess after all that work yesterday.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a lemonade for me please.

Another fairly warm night here.  Only going down to 70°F overnight and will be in the high 70's by the time I get tomorrow.  Guess I will leave the air conditioners on overnight again.  They only run the fan if its cooler outside than the thermostat is set for anyway.

I w*rked on the mold making for the Blacksmith shop tonight....

There is no way i can find the tiny cobblestones i need for the rows of cobblestones on the original building.  Each row is exactly 4.2"  I did find some large sand at Michaels which may work well enough.  I will be a couple rows short at the end of the mold, but who's counting!  Here is a close up of the progress so far...

Ken, you know we are just ah...   your.....  ah.......  pulling your......  ah...  you know, there is no way to say it without it being taken wrong I think.  Anyway, as long as it does the job and helps the wound heal, who cares!

Curt, I take it someone was going to give up their pet skunk?  Glad they decided to keep the little thing!  Losing an owner/caretaker/servant/friend is just as hard on a pet as it is for us to lose them!

Jeff, glad you found the problem with the electrical system and were able to get it repaired!

OK, way past my bedtime, so everyone have a great night!

Time for me to call it a night. Got the charging system on my van checked today. Alternator is good. Voltage regulator was bad, it was putting out 24 volts so replaced that. New one was $20. Just happened to have a $20 bill in my pocket. Battery checked out good. See y'all tomorrow.

Jeffery So what started the fire on your G scale yard layout? Sure there is a good story about it! Whistling

Nothing too remarkable. My father and I were control burning the yard. We had firebreaks set up in strategic areas so the fire would stop at the points. A stiff wind came up and the fire jumped one of the breaks. That was all she wrote. We were busy putting down the fire in another location and by the time we noticed it got the train it was too late to do anything but spray water on a mass of flaming plastic.

Evening All,

Curt I had to buy a booster to go along with my PR3 and Decoder -Pro, but I am using a Tsunami. As soon as there  is some disposable income, I intend to install them in all my loco's.  As Ken said maybe you will not need a booster with the QSI's, and it is a great tool for programming decoders

Flo, Ice water, with a Beer chaser. Whistling

Been a hot one today and even with the A/C going full blast in the Garage/ Train Room it is still uncomfortable.

Ray and Curt Seems the power to be pulled what kind of skin that was grafted on my toe. Whistling But you have to admit it is pretty funny. Hum, maybe I should not used the word PULLED with what was grafted on my toe. Whistling

Curt Once's you get the hang of Decoder Pro you will love it! Best $70.00 I ever spent on the Railroad. With you running QSI sound decoders you might need a booster. But don't spend the money yet! I am able to program 5 out of 6 QSI engines.

Jeffery So what started the fire on your G scale yard layout? Sure there is a good story about it! Whistling

Gary Happy than heck to see you back on line! I will all so add I am starting to like UP F units a lot more now that I have some working on the layout.

Work Front Well I wimped out today and only worked 10.5 hours. Today kind of of sucked. Phone would go crazy and all wise when I had people in front of me. Then nothing for a while, then busy again. Did make a extra $40.00 and that will help. I will be back there Saturday, after that I have no idea where I will be. I am hopping for 50 hours plus next week, I need the $.

See you all later, Dick Foot Ken! Laugh

Jeff- Nice looking slug. It always amazes me on what you can accomplish with the little you have.

As Ken says, I can fix anything. Even turn nothing into something. On that slug, the frame, body, gears, worm housing clips and the bottom clips on the trucks are Athearn. The motor, flywheels, shaft, worms, wheels and truck halves are Proto 1000. Everything else is redneck ingenuity. Make it work.

Evening All,

The skunk rescue was canceled because the owner decided that she could not let her pet go. This is probably best for the animal. Based on this I got my Dad's loco's weathered. The more I look at and run my Dad's 2-6-6-2 the more I like it. At some point I may need to get one for a RR that operated around the PRR since the PRR did not use them.

Tomorrow a club computer genius (no exaggeration) is supposed to help me get everything loaded on my laptop for the Digitrax PR-3 and JMRI. I plan on a stand alone system at home. He said to wait on buying one until we made sure it would work on my computer.

Garry- Hope you feel back  to normal quickly.

Rob- Please be careful with the stump work and don't over do it.

Jeff- Nice looking slug. It always amazes me on what you can accomplish with the little you have.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

It's Loc-Tite super glue gel. I use a lot of it. It stays where I put it and doesn't try to leech into everything.

Good Afternoon everyone.

101 with a slight breeze outside, 83 with a/c on inside. I am staying in for the rest of the day.

Jeff sorry to hear your mom is not coming home but glad to hear she is doing better.

Garry you will be sore for awhile, but it will pass. I was sore for about 3 weeks after my double by-pass.

Took my wife to the oncolgist today, mixed report. 1) lymphoma is not in bone marrow, lungs, and does not appear to be in any place except the localized area of intestine. Is stage 1 or 2, they can't be sure because all the test results have not come back yet. Also doc thinks it may be a very rare form of T-cell Lymphoma. Hope to know more on Monday.

On the railroad front, still playing with my new Tsunami for the GP 9 and decoder pro.

Oh yeah, battery in my Isuzu pick up is dead have to hook up the charger and run it once in awhile.

This is what I've done on the chopped roof F unit slug shell so far. The roof will stay taped down until the glue dries. Later I'll work some modeling clay into the seam to close it up. For a comparison of how low the roof is the end of an uncut shell is to the right. I'm using an old Athearn Hi-F shell for this project.

Good morning. .... Very sore today (barely able to move) but it will go away. Thanks for well wishes. There was some good news, but as I said there were mixed results. Stuff needing to be done was "too risky", it must be done with another operation at a later date. Fortunately, I'll be able to function fairly well after recovery from this surgery as I await the next operation. .... Sad news. Our daughter-in-law in Cincinnati had her mother-in-law pass away early this morning.

I'l try to post later today.

Jeff- Didn’t you used to have a G scale in your front….yard I guess til a few years ago until a storm or something? Hope things go well with your Mom today.

Yeah, I used to have a G Scale Bachmann Heavy Hauler out there. A Baldwin ten wheeler (Silverton Bumble bee) was set up to run on batteries. A fire got it. Burned out all the track ties too. Just left the rails. There's a G Scale battery operated toy train out there now on plastic track.

Went to town to get the rest of my grocery shopping done. Stopped at Autozone as it was on the way and had the vans alternator tested. The alternator checked out OK. The voltage regulator however was bad. It would work normally far a little bit then the voltage would jump to twenty-four volts. So I got a new voltage regulator. Only took five minutes to change it out. One bolt and one plug. I had the battery checked out also. It's doing better than nominal. It's rated for 524 cold cranking amps and is actually putting out 545. Voltage under load is 13.7v. Totally acceptable. From there I went on to do my grocery shopping. No need to bore you with that.
