I guess I will start off today. This is  a Spectrum K4s that I just finished lightly weathering.

I made a few quick videos with my new iPhone the other day.  They are of my rebuilt Mantua Pacific pulling my rebuilt Athearn heavyweights.  Total cost for loco and six car train was less than $200.

I am liking that bridge, Corey.

Took forever to find an undec set of P2K E8/9.  Both A and B are powered and DCC ready.  They had options for D/B or not, 1, 2 or no steam generators, and early or late intake grills.  Anyway here they are in CSX dark future.  Added cab awnings, sun visors, grabs, better horn, and rear view mirrors.

Had to repaint the B-unit twice due to air brush issues and some decal problems but patience won out.

Trains. Cooking. Cycling. So many choices but so little time.

While cleaning out the train cabinet, discarding stuff I will never use - some to consignment, some to friends. I found a 1975-ish ConCor CZ dome obs.  Stripped it, modified the frame for new Walthers Budd trucks, KD couplers etc.  Added grabs and a selective interior w passengers. Cut off the old glob of plastic they called a diaphragm, and substituted an IHC version,  Again, dark future colors in a sort of C&O heritage scheme.

Great photos, everyone.

Curt:  Like that weathering.   And thanks again for the hints on the 'sealing' with matte finish.

Corey:  Love that bridge.  And that handsome Pacific.

Here's mine.  2-8-0 #1159 sets out a cut of cattle cars at Wagon Wheel Gap to pick up summer-range stock and transport them back down to winter range in the foothills.   Fall is here, and the winter snows won't be far behind in the Sierra.

Well I finally started a new layout, a Hollow Core Door. The trackplan comes from a HO scale project layout MR published called the Alkali Central; more info can be found by clicking this hyperlink

A video can be found via this hyperlink

And here is an overall view of the layout

A Shot of my IC&E Leased Power Roster

Here are some indys (in the works) models of some leased power I have seen on IC&E/DM&E, now CP rails, in NE Iowa & Southern MN. in recent years, & in/on DVD's.
Mostly not so finished, just like all my Blue painted shells for actuals of IC&E/DM&E....
A mix of Kato's & Athearns in various stages & even incorrect, borrowed chassis' ...sorry..

Corey,

What did you use for the bridge support columns? They are just what I need.

Forgot to post the photo of my last project, an old Train Miniatures Blacksmith car. It was a lot of fun and gave me some ideas about putting flickering LED in the oven.

Ummm Kayyy..
A still photo only does so much.

But a poorly lighted & narrated video, may actually be tolerable...
(cuz I talked, & shot it with my DICE cam, ha hah)..

If you want to see the PSC/Iron Horse Models 36 Ton Shay run the bearings, please take a look.
Thank you for watching!!!

Hello George. I'm glad you liked the scene, it is one of my favorite photo spots on the layout. The waterfall was modeled using clear silicone embedded with strands of cotton fibers to create the illusion of cascading water. The "wet" effect on the surrounding rocks was done by brushing on a thin layer of envirotext epoxy over the finished rock castings.

Have Fun.... Bob.

I'm liking that IT gon, Jeff. Looks good, having seen a few back in the day.

Here's a couple more pics of recent projects since looks like a lot of folks are on vacation. Smile  I built the Durango Car Shop, but only had room for the track to it come off the turntable, rather than as a run-through like the original.

This is the Oriental Oil Refinery. The two big tanks are made from 4" PVC caps, with added Plastruct details from the Plastruct Refinery kit that I'm still  using to build more refinery equipment. The fenc is from Walthers.

Behind the refinery and the view of the carshop past the turntable can be seen some short viewblocks I made to help "close in" the center peninsula some, as well as to guard the structures from stray elbows. I tried plexiglass, but didn't like the look. The 1/4" hardboard is cheaper and the paint is as simple as it looks, yet it works well. You have a greater sense of going places with them in place.

Thanks. Amazing what some 70% alcohol and a little black leather dye can do. I roughed up the edges with a hot soldering gun.

Very nice here this weekend.  Some great photos and work being shown!

I have been doing a lot of odds and ends over the past couple weeks...  I have cut, Creosoted, and hand laid a couple hundred ties:

I have also hooked up power and finished the basic ballasting to the lower staging area.  The pencil line on the wall is where the bottom of the Upper Staging will be.  I have stained and started to varnish the baord for the upper staging, but it will be a week or two before I have it installed.  I still have a lot of things like removing stray pieces of ballast, painting the rails rusty, and adding some weed and grass there..

Thanks for the compliments guys.  I haven't been back to the computer since I posted the videos.

The bridge piers are an A.I.M. plaster product  made taller by attaching them to foam bases.  I then painted and stained them with craft paint and washes.  The girder section is two Micro Engineering kits kitbashed into one span.   The trestle (which you barely see) is completely scratch built.

For those who haven't seen the whole thing, here it is.  It's changed a little since then but you get the idea.
