jeff-wimberly,  like how your photos make your layout look far bigger than it actually is.

Thanks. It's the largest layout I could shove into a small room.

Jerry, nice strip mall.  That's not something you see on a layout very often but is ever present in our modern world.  Of course, to be accurate, you should probably have half of it empty with 'for lease' signs!Stick out tongue

Or add in a Subway sandwich shop.  Those things are everywhere.

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

Had a little time to try a few things..
Added more toning to the cab & long hood. The Cab needed brighter silver to match & blend into the rest of the unit. The long hood got a greasy oily wash in the engine & radiator area.

dti406 Rick, never heard of Moloco, looks good.

Cheers, the Bear.

Bear, originally Nick Molo (Moloco) was from your neck of the woods, Australia, and is now located in Canada, he first made a Cupola for the Athearn Extended Vision Caboose to make it a regular caboose and had continued to make additional detail parts for freight cars until he had enough to make this kit.

That's an impressive group of beasts you have there.  The scene looks very realistic and deep to my untrained eye.

Hey Corey, thanks! I'm in the process of trying to do more with a camera than just point and shoot. Thank goodness for digital cameras! I may be stupid, but I'm also kinda slow, and I can't tell you how many shots I delete to get one that I think looks semi-decent. I still have a lot to learn, but the forum search has been a big help.

Rework the lights so that the number boards, markers, headlight, mars light and truck lights are on different functions

Poor picture as I had to use a camcorder still shot, but shows the truck lights better

As always some fantastic modeling shown in here!

Been a few weeks since i had anything new even vaguely worth posting here.  This week I finally got the lower staging area put in place and the tracks put in to service it.  Ultimately there will be 4 staging tracks on the two shelves on this wall.  Each will hold a good sized train....

Nice jwar,

but when I look at the photo, you seem to have cut off the front where all your changes are. I can't even see the number boards. Would it be possible to see another photo with the lights showing please.

SecondHandModeller;

Nope, she was actually repainted to the HIII 'Wedge' scheme quite a while back. Many nice Pix on the net, this is 812, but I think 810 was really whipped..
I wanted to do this since I saw one a year ago 'leading' an intermodal towards MNSP area, when I was travelling in Wisconsin.
I was also re-inspired by the MRR Cover featuring one of Pelle's units.

So far I have only been concentrating my efforts on the Body shell, I accidently hit the tank & evened it out to deal with later. I will drop the sideframes & paint the Wheels, Chassis, pilots, & all the lower equipment when I get there.  It was a real nice clean model when I started.. ha hah..
It is still a Work in Progress!

Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it!

Gidday Mike, Yellowstone? don't I wish. Smile  Its a friends Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2 that I got to run during the local exhibition last Easter. I posted some photos on WPF back then, but here's another one.

Cheers,the Bear.

Bear, I may be wrong but the Bachmann M1a is a Yellowstone.

Like big engines? While not as big as a Big Boy, my Y6b still can get the job done.

JaBear:    Thanks for the additional photo. That's a good looking engine, and some SERIOUS trestle work.

Cuda Ken:  I like that "way down the tracks" shot. If you see me post one like that in the next WPF,you'll know where I stole - I mean - where I got the inspiration. I really like those Y-6bs... 'Just wish I could think of a way to work one into a Union Pacific-based layout.

Terry in Texas: Nice video! That got me looking at some of your pic's on Photobucket... WOW!  Terrific modeling. Did you scratchbuild those "Company" buildings, engine house, etc.? Outstanding work.

Great stuff this week guys. Thanks for sharing.

Since large steamers seem to be a recent theme, here is the largest steamer on the BRVRR:

UP #3985 rounds the curve at the West end of the BRVRR layout with a short excursion train. The loco is an Athearn Challenger, the passenger consist is a mixture of Walther's, Rossi and other manufacturers.

Keep the photos and ideas coming guys. This is always the best thread of the week.

Remember its your railroad

Not yet. I really have to be in the mood to scratchbuild steam. The only thing done since I last posted anything about it is the valve gear is done on the front set of drivers. Figuring  out how to power the front set of drivers has been a challenge.

Some old photos from my layout:

The barber shop interior is simply a scene printed on card stock and illuminated from behind.

Bear, my mistake, you said it was a 2-6-6-2 not a 2-8-8-2. 2-8-8-2 is there Yellowstone.

Mike, your more than welcome to steal any of my ideas. Your Big Boy's, who made them? Mine is a PCM.

Cuda Ken, No worries, though it did get me going, Huh? Thought I had made another Goof, 2 in one weekend, I'd have to quietly snuck away!!Smile, Wink & Grin

Middleman Mike & jalajoie Jack. As much as I wish I could I can take no credit what so ever for that trestle, Here's a link to the AMG.

Hey,Ken.

I started with a PCM that I got refurbished from the BLI website. Then I picked up a couple of bluelines...Then I bought two of the Genesis with Tsunami's...Then I got  3 of the MTH's. Now Athearn's saying they're bringing out another batch later this year - I'm going to ask my family to tie me up and lock me in my room until they're sold out, because I obviously can't control myself.

Oh well,I guess its cheaper than crack.
