Evenin' folks!

Janie, a tall glass of iced tea would be nice right now.  Thanks!

I'm sitting here wondering whether to head out to Zzz for the night, or stay up for a while and see what the weather does.  There is a threat of strong unstable thunderstorms coming through NYS.  This is mostly for the western part of the state tonight but is a forecast for 60MPH winds and even a chance of a Derecho along with this system....  We do need the rain, but not the damage that could come from this one.....

Ulrich and Petra, a most happy anniversary to both of you!

Ken, hope the graft goes well and heals quickly for you.  Glad you got some help with the bills!

Garry, my prayers for a speedy recovery and good health after your surgery....

Sam!  get off the tracks! Whistling

Have a great night everyone!

Running the Bachmann ATF today I got from Jeffery. Seems to be a little quieter today. Now if I could figure out why the headlight flashes when it is running and sitting still? Fair puller, dragging 12 cars now with no problems.

Bachmann ATF?QuestionQuestion DCC? Flashing headlight? Check CV49 and CV50. For steady front and rear lights they should be set at 00.

Time for me to call it a night. Thunderstorm earlier amounted to just a bunch if noise. My parents and I went to a Mexican place in town tonight for dinner. Great meal. Got home just in time to do my sign-off post. Not much else happened today. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening All,

I was off today but it wasn't a good day as I was having issues with my son. I go back to w**k tomorrow for 16 hours then I go back to my regular schedule. My boss called me today .He is working on the Sept-Jan work schedule. He asked me if I wanted to leave the post I have been at for the last year, I said yes, he then said you will be working Saturdays, to which I replied I will stay at my current post because I don't want to work SaturdaysSigh.

Thanks to everyone for the kind complements on my Diesel weathering. Jeff told me how to do it. Friday I hope to do the first part of my steam weathering, by painting the wheels with Floquil Weathered Black by brush. I have talked with Tom in CA and this is how he does it.

Ulrich- Happy Anniversary to you and Petra.

Ken- Hope that toe gets healed sooner rather than later.

Garry- I'm not sure when you are having your surgery but you are in my prayers.

Lee- I'm glad you continue to do well.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, one beer please.

Hit the darn wrong button and wiped out what I typed again? I know, I know Jeffery. Whistling

 Mixed day, good and bad.

VA Outreach Program This was part of the good day. They are paying $300.00 on the electric, $75.00 on my water bill and $50.00 for personal hygiene items. Hum, I did clean up before I went!

VA Hospital Visit Doctors checked out my toe and they think it looks pretty good. While I was waiting to be seen I visited with some of the other Vets. There where 2 other Vet's there with pick lines in there arm's. I now truly understand how lucky I was. Both of them started having problems about the same time I did. I was the only one with all of there foot and toes. Sigh There sores stated as callus like mine.

Going back to work. Little up in the air about this right now. All three Doctors that looked at my toe where shocked that I am getting the skin graft Thursday and can go back to work Friday. I will check Thursday and see if they want to change my releases date. At this point I hope they change it to Tuesday next week. Pick line comes out Monday, yeah!

Good and Bad part of today. I took Sues car to the hospital, it A/C is much better than mine. On the way home it died on a off ramp about 2 miles from home. When I left St Louis I got turned around and got lost, drove about 6 miles out of my way. That's the good part, reason is when it died I was only a half a mile from a friends shop so I was able to walk to him. If I had not got loss, car would have died on Sue, or when I was on my way to have the skin graft done Thursday.

I am thinking it is a fuel pump of a fuel filter. Bob is going to try a filter first, it did start back up and it had 30 PSI at idle and peaked at 40 PSI. When we revved up the car, PSI dropped so I guess it could just be the filter.  Personally I am guessing the pump. I have never had a filter fix a problem.

Gary Good looking engines, do still run them? I am still very happy with mine and been running them everyday.

Running the Bachmann ATF today I got from Jeffery. Seems to be a little quieter today. Now if I could figure out why the headlight flashes when it is running and sitting still? Fair puller, dragging 12 cars now with no problems.

Happy Anniversary Ulrich and Petra! Cake

 See you all later, Ken

I'm worn, weary and warm. No energy at this time of day.  As Ken has said, I've been lurking. Just tired.

However, my thoughts are of all of you. My daily prayers are for all.  May He help all of you with your ills and daily challenges.

Ulrich, I second Mr. G's comment

Going to shower and then to bed.  Goodnight!

Evening guys

Haven't stopped in in a while. Been really busy with my personal life. My father went to Ohio to be at my brother's orientation at Ohio State.

As far as trains, that DRGW A unit is still very stubborn. I've only gotten 1 side panel partially stripped. I'm about to break down and buy some scalecoat paint stripper since I've heard from some friends it's really good. But that's going to wait for a while until I get that 331 stroker kit from a friend.

Sawyer, I've actually have that issue. It's a nice layout, just kind of "flat" for my tastes

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Hey all, my first time ever posting in this thread. Just wanted to let all know, my wife, Stepson and I have to travel up from Florida to New Jersey a week from Sunday for some family business. My Wife wanted to fly, I talked her into taking Amtrak! I love taking the train, haven't done it in about 14 yrs or so...I'm looking forward to it!

Afternoon (and a late one at THAT) folks!

Didn't get home from the museum today until mid afternoon.  We were supposed to be done with the tours by noon, but had some equipment failure as well as more kids and staff showed up from the camp than expected.  One of the track cars decided it didn't want to start while stuck at the R&GV end of the RR.  It turned out to be a connector assembly on the battery terminal (used to disconnect battery power when not in use) that decided to fail.  Reconnecting the terminal without using the connector fixed the problem.  Now that only took a couple minutes, but finding the tools needed had to involve another person who had to drive down from the other end of the line and then get the tools to do the job.  Only because he knew where the tools were kept.  We now know as well!

I got home and called my son who was waiting to come over and help me get the wood splitter hooked up to my pickup so I could tow it over to his house.  The granddaughters came with him.  #2 got very excited to see "Papa" and said, "Hi Papa lets run some trains!"  Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh  We did go down cellar to see them but I told her they weren't able to be run right now.  She helped me remove the tape used to place a strip of ties on the glue on the roadbed...

Anyway, I am now home for the rest of the evening!

Later!

Hey fellas, finally decided to build an HCD based off the Ann Arbor Layout in the August 2008 Railroad Model Craftsmen. I have changed some stuff up, but it follows the basic idea.

Italian Roast coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.

Really terrific pics being posted in here.Thumbs Up

Went into the train room last night and discovered a few webs. OOPS, has been awhile, huh!Hmm Been busy with priority farm projects these days. Winter should provide more train room time as weather dictates how much work can be accomplished outdoors.

Healing thoughts to those in need.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Good Afternoon!

What a day! Temperatures topped 90 F today - quite a difference to the 60´s we had last week. Our apartment is slowly warming up into uncomfortable regions. No A/C means sleepless nights!

Tomorrow, Petra and I will be celebrating our 28th anniversary and celebrate we will! Much to my surprise, there was a letter in our mailbox with a few "Dead Presidents" - German (or should I say Euro) style. That will cover a night out at our favorite Greek restaurant here in town. Two nice meals and a bottle of Demestica - what a treat! Something we have not had for a long time!

I am still having issues with my health, but I just try not to think about it.

Off to run a train down the line...

Blessings!

Good morning ...

Returned from Nashville last evening. Medical appointments went well meaning I have the green light for the operation on August 1. Thanks everybody for your kind remarks on this situation.

It's good to see so many people have been in the Diner last couple of days. Keep on posting!

Ulrich ... That looks like a great place too hike. I hope you keep improving. Say "Hi" to Petra from the Diners.

Sue .... That's nice Larry's paintings will be at the fair.

Ken ..... I hope all goes well regarding your toe, your work, and Suzie. Here is an older picture of my MRC F7A's with a Stewart F3B (dummy) in Nothern Pacific freight colors. The MRC' never have problems.

Terry ... Good to see you back in the diner. You certainly have a son to be proud of. I like your scenery.

Cheers

Morning Coffee in the Diner
Posted by galaxy on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 9:13 AM

Good morning

Went to the grocery store..spent $186, but DID come home with food for once!

We both need to cut down our H2O habits, though...I can't drink the chlorinated tap water and the Brita and other filters don't take out enough to keep me from vomiting on drinking that water, so I drink Poland Springs Spring water. I also don't drink soda, so I substitute Seltzer h2o. Tasty, but getting cost prohibitive. MOH drinks Tonic water for the quinine...helps with leg cramps when standing all day at work...but that is the cheapest, I think. I need to cut down on mine!

Train Nut friend coming for a visit. SO must get ready.

Today is free bread day down the street.

Have to get ready here in a little bit to get ready to go to the Madison County VA Outreach Center. I wonder how long that will take.

If it's like the outreach centers here, hurry up and wait.

Hey Chloe, it seems to be slow here in the diner. I hope that everyone just has the summer time outside thing going on.  Coffee, please, before I head to work.

Larry is entering some of his paintings in the fair.  My sewing store might display one of my quilts.  It is a last minute decision, so who knows if it will really happen.

Rob,  Does your ground get too  hard to do fence posts this time of year?

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I'll have a cup of decaf tonight.  What?  Yes the temperature is down to 68°F so decaf is what I want....

I got a few things done on the layout today.  Stained the oak board which will become the upper staging shelf and put about 4 more feet of ties in place.  My son called tonight and wants to borrow the wood splitter to split the maple he had taken down last week.  Hopefully it along with the wood he has left from last year will get him through this winter with his wood stove.  Right now there are several things in the way for me to hook onto the splitter so tomorrow afternoon will be spent getting that over to his house for him.

Tomorrow morning I have to go out to the museum and help with a tour coming.  It will be a busy day.

Hope all of you have a pleasant night.  prayers for all of you!

It's time for me to call it a night. Worked on a couple of freight cars today. I'm in the process of setting up a load for a depressed center flat, an excavator and a couple of dozers. Watched a couple of Errol Flynn movies today. 'The Sea Hawk' and the first movie he starred in 'Captain Blood'. See y'all tomorrow.
