In spite of my handle, this little outside frame 0-4-0 is my favorite:
It's nearly as old as me, but it runs much better than I do (thanks to a new can motor from the motorman - MR advertiser). It didn't run at all with the original motor - and thus engendered a favorite quote from my wife: "You paid how much, and it doesn't even run?!" A couple of weeks later I had it running and she told me that she doubted that I could fix it. It's not that she thinks I lack skill, but she figured it was too far gone. That's one thing that old brass locos and Corvettes have in common: In the right hands they can always be restored.
It's rare to find an outside frame loco in HO standard gauge, so I was thrilled to get this one.
Show me romance.
Phil, I'm not a rocket scientist; they are my students.
Since Roger didn't request anything I'll go back to Chads request.
Here are my 'oldest' and 'newest' locomotives side by side for their official portrait.

Here's a slightly modified Athearn BB caboose. I installed window glass, lighted the interior and weathered it. Not a great deal of modification but enough for now.
How about another modified caboose?

I was detail painting this ex-GN GP20 (white handrail ends and step edges, working from a photo of a sister unit), then I noticed that the blue began to fade for some reason (I think I had an open container of ispyrol alcohol in the room somewhere). After a bit of playing with washes and such, I got the faded blue evened out

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
