Due to bringing LOTS of train stuff in the past, Santa took a break this year from bringing Trains!!! {Santa- the new furnace heats the house well, and the new roof keeps us dry!!}
What did Santa bring you??
What did loved ones bring you??

HO and N Scale.
After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Santa passed by our place this year, just as he did the last couple of years. We were able to buy just a few very small gifts for our son and his GF, who will be joining us tomorrow. We are happy to put a decent meal on the table.
So no HO HO HO trains, just N N Nothing.
Good Morning to one and all!
Well, this is the first year in about 4 decades that Santa didn't drop off any "train stuff". He must have read my list, for I didn't ask for anything train related. I just don't need anything, and there is nothing out there I really want for my postwar ATSF / IC HO layout. To some that may sound wonderful, but for some reason it isn't - for I love opening up a new MR kit or book...........
I recall back in the '70s, when my family picked up those wonderful Athearn BB kits for me - man, those were the best gifts ever !!!
May I wish you all a wonderful Holiday, and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS !
ENJOY !

When I was a kid and would ask my Mom what she wanted for Christmas, she would always answer, Love and Obedience. LOL
As an adult, my annual wish is for good health. If you have that, what else do you need?
For anyone not in good health, my Christmas wish is that it returns to you as soon as possible.
Merry Christmas !

No trains but Santa did leave me with a healthy wife, which is the greatest gift of all. And my lovely wife did give me a train gift of sorts---the software program Train Simulator 2012. And another wonderful non-train gift received this year was a phone call with my daughter living in Sioux Falls---I consider myself blessed.
In all fairness, I recently acquired a beautiful RS1, Santa Fe Zebra Stripe, from an on-line auction that has turned out to be my best runner--Kato/Athearn.
Merry Christmas to one and all,

My family got me (from woodland scenics) a pack of 3"-5" trees, a pack of 2"-3" trees, gray ballast (I was running low), some medium green course turf and the Extreme Trains DVD (can't wait to watch).
Santa brought some HO scale athearn blue box kits: Santa Fe ACF hopper, Santa Fe box car and 2 P&LE box cars (less than $10 each on that internet auction site).

There is a Walthers Empire Leather Tanning Company kit behind the tree. That will fill a big scenery gap at one end of my layout.
My sister and I usually give each other "hints" and then she goes to an LHS and I go to a Celtic music web site, and we order things. This year, she suggested we just each order our own presents. (I swear there is Vulcan blood in us.) So, I'm getting some rib-side box cars in Milwaukee colors. I just needed an excuse.
And then, there is the Gift of Time. I've got the week off with no other plans than to work on the layout.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I have had several good years, though it helps when both of us are working part-time. Keeps the cash-on-hand in the black much of the time. So, while it is still awaiting a Titan -U shipped from Tony's on 29 November (!), I was supposed to receive a ready-to-play Spectrum Heavy Mountain in C&O livery. That will have to wait, hopefully not so long that Tony has to re-issue a decoder to me.
However, I did receive a nice Green River production DVD of Niagaras and Mohawks. I am definitely looking forward to that!
Happy Holidays, everyone.

I recieved the Bachmann 2-6-0 earlier in the week which is a great running loco. Today MOH gave me the electronic hardware from LRT to run my PL signals.

Between Santa and my fiancee, i made out pretty decent this year. We have had a tough year here also, but limited ourselves to spending $150 on each other. It really sucks, but we have each other.
Santa brought me some HO scale deer from Model Power, a pack of JTT corn, JTT flower hedges, and a of N scale graffiti decals. Carissa bought me a Bachmann Silver Series Lehigh Valley 40' box car and then graffitied it herself with "CS heart's RS '11". This is the first time in a long time I have gotten train stuff for Christmas. Yup, I am happy.

I had a great haul this year. Two HO Amtrak locomotives and the board game Ticket to Ride, 5 time Game of the Year Award winner. What a great Christmas. Sorry for the poor quality, it was taken with a computer webcam.

Been a tough year for us too..{and for others such as Ulrich}....hence the reference to the furnace and the roof. Oh, and a generator for when the power goes out for days on end when it floods around here {TG we stay high and dry..just no power as the substation floods!}. Our Chirstmas presents to each other was a wheel kit for the generator and a generator battery for auto start. No money left for trains or other gifts....
Ho Merry Ho HO!!!
I had a very modest wish list this year and got everyting on it I got a coupler height gauge, a pair of trip pin piers, and a fresh batch of Monon decals. I'm a happy fellow.
I'm sad to hear of those here who couldn'tt have a materially prosperous Christmas. Let us not forget, though, that the holiday ain't about the stuff. One of my all-time favorite lines from television is, "And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

I got a Division Point N&W Observation passenger car!! I also got the Fine Scale Miniatures kit and a new box of SuperTrees by Scenic Express!
I was obviously very GOOD and very BLESSED. Sometimes it is hard to remember how lucky most of us who are reading the Forum are. So, I try and share my blessings with those less fortunate that my family and me. Contributing to charities and helping serve a few hot meals is a great way to celebrate the holiday season.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The wife unit did well this year. I got a pair of a Athearn CSX GP40-2, but who knew that they still made non DCC ready trains, these were annouced in Dec of 2010. Got one DCC'ed, my first hard wired DC to DCC conversion but the other one I broke the front drive shaft but I have a Blue Box SP SD60 at my desk at work that I can take the drive shaft from on Tuesday.
Santa brought me a new GP38-2 from Bachmann with DCC on board and some wood for a new module! It's been a very good Christmas.
Merry Christmas everyone!

I got the Books "Starter track plans' and "Mid sized Track plans for Realistic layouts" a police car fo the layout, a tractor trailer and two walthers Evans 4780 3 bay covered hoppers.

Santa brought me an ATSF Auto-rack (Walthers GOLD Line) and a Kato SD38-2 (UPY #833) and some other non-train stuff. I recieved a Craftsman motor tool from my family, which I have been wanting/needing for a long time.
Merry Christmas!

The wife threw me a curve this year. Opened up the wrapping - the box says "Walthers" on the back. Wait, it's a Proto E-unit!! O wow, let's see, what railroad is it?? New York Central?? Burlington?? Undec?? Lift up the flap....there's no engine inside.
She got me a $25 gift certificate for the LHS and stuck it in a box from one of my old engines. O well, it's the thought that counts....??

Two packs of flawed castings from Stoney Mountain Classic, an HO Scale Aurora Mystery Machine (Scooby Doo). I have one pack of the castings so far, the other pack and the Scooby Doo van are still in the mail.
Add an Accurail DT&I covered hopper to that list. I couldn't help but trip over it. I picked it up for $10!

If one could roll back the hands of time... They would be waiting for the next train into the future. A. H. Francey 1921-2007
Being as My Birthday was yesterday and Christmas today I received quite a few really nice gifts. Most from My Girlfriend, My Son and even from Santa..
I received the following...
a new 55-300 mm lense for My Sony a390 camera, So I can take better pic's of trains..
a newly released book of the Great Western Railway
a 2012 Train calendar with Great Western Rwy locomotive #90 on the cover
a renewed subscription to Model railroader magazine.
a Busch airstream ho scale trailer
a pair of Mini Metals flatbed trailers ho scale
a 1950's era low boy trailer kit ho scale
a High Rise Construction Site from Walters Cornerstone series
a lifelike roadwork set
some woodland scenics Railroad Workers.and a car with some girls washing it.
and a #4 turnout.
So I really made out... here's a pic..
Santa and family sort of missed trains this year. Actually I had only listed a gift certificate to my LHS, as layout is in waiting and I have a lot of kits waiting to be built and scenery material ready to spread out. Did get a reasonable haul in other catagories considering the economy.
Friday I did get my order from MB Kline, so I do have some new N scale stuff for that project and a couple of HO vehicles for my current layout. One of them is a close representation of the truck my dad had when I was a kid. Hope to add a cover to the bed that resembles the one we could put on it.
In that order were also a couple things I used as gifts for my modeling friend here in town. Got them wrapped and delivered on Fri. We share expenses on travel and food at shows, as well as a couple of other things. It's my way of making up the difference. Did get a plate of soft molasses cookies from his wife. Very tasty.
I have my health and plenty to do, so I have no complaints.
Holiday best to all of you.
Have fun,
Richard
