Weekend Photo Fun 12/9 To 12/11
Posted by dti406 on Friday, December 9, 2011 7:11 AM

I have not completed anything new this week, so here are some pictures I took at the Club I belong to in Strongsville, OH.  I don't know if I have posted these here before or not.

PRR N1s stopping at the crossing with the 20th Century Limited in the background.

RS-32 and F3's highballing a general freight through town.

NKP GP30's moving out after stopping at the tower for orders.

Thanks for looking!

Rick J. My 2 Cents

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

Rick,
Thanks for starting us off, those are excellet shots!!

I'll downgrade the fun with a 70's Freightshaker that I bashed from an old Athearn bag kit into a container shuttler! Although, I did not have the Plano mirrors on hand, I trimmed it out with an extended frame, scratchbuilt container frame (with pockets) scratch exhaust & air intake, & pusher axle. I used the kit front wheels, but used A-Line 2 holers for all the rears, & the container. I painted the cab in Testors Gull Gray & the container in Alclad under a medium gray (more in Antonios thread). A-line flaps in the back, & I still need to locate my stash of pintle hitches to run doubles!  Yeah I'm a truck guy at heart!
Now back to Trains!!

Roscoe, the engineer, is at the throttle of 1254, a 2-6-0, as it shoves an empty gondola into Reggie's junk yard. It appears the old, sway back gon is close to becoming scrap itself. With luck, it may handle at least one more revenue load before being retired. Meanwhile, Reggie continues to work on his hot rod.

The other day I dug out an old Mantua 2-8-2, it still has a horn hook coupler on the tender, gave it a lube and oil job and she just runs beautifully.  And I've got some tight 18" radius curves with 3% grade.  Here she is picking up some water at a scratch built backwoods water tank, that is barely visible:

Gary,

Excellent modeling. I especially like that stock car with my initials.

Do I ever win?

Okay, don't ask me how in the world Espee's "Coast Daylight" ended up at Bullard's Bar in the Sierra Nevada on the Yuba River Sub, but here she is, anyway.  Maybe it's an 'excursion' special.

Michael:

Thanks.  The cars are MTH, the GS-4 is a re-worked brass Balboa and the MT-4 helper is from Athearn Genesis.

Hmm--which reminds me, I'll have to finish that pink mountain one of these days, LOL!  Embarrassed

BTW, that's one VERY handsome Rio Grande F-unit you've got there.  Who makes it?

Everybody has excellent photos this week (as usual). I just did a little landscaping and changed couplers on my HW passenger cars so they all run good on the layout.

Tom,

I have a set of the MTH Daylight cars too. I'm planning on getting the MTH GS-4. Right now I run them with P2K SP E7 AB set.

The Rio Grande F3s are Intermountain w/sound. They are excellent runners.

Hi Guys

I completed my second load of railroad scrap. This load is scrap rail I had on hand, last week's was scrap plastic wheels. These cars were already internally  weighted so I lifted the load up with foam underneath, so the car wouldn't be too heavy.  Whistling

A good beginning guys. Keep the photos and ideas coming.

Here is one from the BRVRR:

NYC RDC #53 passes through the Olive Street crossing on the layout's reversing loop.

Keep up the good work guys. This is always the best thread of the week.

Remember its your railroad

I love the 55 Chevrolet, I borrowed one just like it, from my cousin when I started my business in 1960.
Great photo shot also.

Have fun.

As always great work posted here this weekend!

About all I have accomplished on the layout this week was to finish up a couple #6 Hand Laid Turnouts (Fast Tracks style) and get most of another boiler done for the powerhouse.

Front of the two boilers:

Back of the two boilers...  I have to finish the piping on the second one, both will have smoke stacks added (which will head down to the floor as it will be extracted by fans and sent to the large smokestack near the powerhouse.....

As far as the #6 turnouts, I will be building some at the RIT Tiger Tracks Train Show this weekend (Rochester, NY). If you are at the show, stop over to the NMRA Display and Modelers Corner and say hi!

Not my best, still playing around with the camera.

A very late freight with CN power on the head end stops for orders in Montpelier Jct.

I'm trying to model 1956, not live in it.

[View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0] I, too don't have much new on the go, so here's a few I took a week or so ago while running at my club layout....

The Nethercutt Collection in California was doing an unprecedented cross=country tour with 2839, so CP met up with 2816, for some awesome photo ops...

A[View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0]n absolutely awesome day if you're a serious fan of CP steam, or of Hudsons in general[View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0][View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0][View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0]

My contribution for this weekend is two fold. My current project is completing this Tower 55 ES44AC that began as a Northern Pacific seen here.

It has been stripped and then re-painted, decals applied and then assembled into a Norfolk Southern ES44AC #8013. Just need to weather and put the handrails back on.

My other contribution is this Atlas Conrail Dash 8-40C that was a bit weathered when I got it seen here.

Now I put my spin on weathering. I must say that my older engines always get a heavy weather. I Tell Ya These Turbos Exploding Cause A Real Mess To The Paint. In the words of Nicole Ritchie "Thats Hot"

Willjayma,

I told you this before and I'm telling you it again: I am not too happy about that NP unit going byby and becomeing NS.  I've been meaning to find a couple of these NP GEVOs.  If I was Santa, I'd put you on my naughty list.  Grumpy Smile, Wink & Grin

But I do have to give you a bunch of credit because all of those engines that you posted look great.  Keep up the good work!
