New years eve and all through the house....
We give thanks that we live in the Mountain Time Zone and can celebrate the new year at 10 MP and then go to bed.

(Actually, the LION goes to bed around 8 pm. Maybe I can watch midnight in London, eh?)

MAYBE there will be something we can watch from somewhere in the world..we already saw New Zealand do it on CNN Early this MOrning.!!!

Have a HAPPY ANd SAFE NEW YEARS celebration guys and Sue!!! If you DO drink, be at home or take a cab or have a designated Driver Wink  wouldn't want any of you to go missing on the 2nd!!

Good morning. It's 53° and cloudy. The high will be 72°. It will be partly cloudy this afternoon the mostly cloudy tonight. There's a 10% chance of rain today.

The rusting and weathering on the junk vehicles is done and they look convincing enough that I checked to be sure my tetanus shot was up to date. I even rusted out the floorboards in the convertibles! But I'm not finished yet! There's still a junkyard scene with vehicles from the thirties and forties to be painted. All this is intended for a small 'U-Pick n Pull' antique car parts junk yard. They look pretty good close up so they should be real eye-catchers toward the back of the layout.

No real plans for today but I'm fairly certain one of both of my parents will think of something I need to do for them.

Don't tell anyone I am here Flo, I am hiding from work today. I'll have some Dew please.

Well, Dave from work is trying to get hold of me, I wounder why? I have a pretty good idea! I bet Bill has said screw this and walked off the job! Personally I think Dave demoting Bill yesterday was very badly timed. Dave does not have a replacement manager at this point. My self, I would not had demoted Bill unless I had the new manager with me. Bill was scheduled to work 55 hours this week. And I am not giving up my day off because Dave messed up.

I have all so been made a salesman. While that does not mean I cannot not move up the ladder and am still not happy about it. The fact that I will only be making $7.00 a hour + commission (still have no real idea how I am paid) has pretty much did me in for this moment in time.

Lee I do know how big 4.5 MM is, just a little short of a 1/2 inch. That is why I said I would have been impressed if you could have passed that sucker!

I will be hiding behind the RC counter for awhile.

 See you all later.

Evening All,

Sitting here doing not much of anything. In a bit we are going to make schnitzel (spelling?) for New Years. It is a Webb family tradition. I'm sure it isn't as good as Ulrich's or  Petra's can do but it's yummyDinner. I will probably go to the club for a couple of hours to do some programming on the 2-6-0. We usually don't do anything for New Years Eve and like several of you we usually go to bed early.

Jeff- your cars look great as usual.

Rob- I'm glad you were able to get the tree off and save the shed.

Have a great day.

Morning everyone!

Zoe, why are there 7 swans swimming in a portable swimming pool outside?  Yes, right outside.  Ulrich probably brought them.  I'll have the Eggs Benedict and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug to start off the last day of this year!

Just got off the phone with my son....  I called to ask him what time I should arrive for the festivities this evening.  His answer?  "Ah, I don't know????"  Galaxy, Remember the famous words of Jeff Foxworthy, "Waht's tha sence o' drinkin' if ya ain't gonna drahve....?"  I assure you I will be drinking tonight!  Mostly tea or water though....  Probably will have a glass of eggnog with a bit of dark rum in it early in the evening and a couple fingers worth of bubbly at midnight.  Will not be over limit when I head home!  I will be the lookout for those that are however!!!

New Years Resolutions?  Not much.  I do intend to continue to lose weight as I have the last 6 months or so.  Would like to get another 30 lbs. or so off.  I also intend to get out the guitar and get my fingers back in shape.  Especially since I will be buying new hearing aids by March.

Jeffrey, those cars look ready for the junkyard if you ask me.  (THAT is meant as a compliment, BTW.)

Sue, those branches can make very nice firewood, and don't even have to be split..... Smile, Wink & Grin

Rob, down where you live the tree taken down should heat your house nicely next year!  For me it would probably do half the winter.

I shall be spending some quality time in the train rooms today!

Hope each and every one of you has a great and safe New Years Eve!

Later!

Coffee in a SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Jeffrey, are you psychic or a personal friend of Murphy? Thinking about your comment, I had to smile and grab the camera. This pic is just for you!

That is the neighbor's tractor down in the barn yard, unloading 12 round bales. Obviously, at the top of the driveway is the new tractor being delivered at the same time. I'll post pics of it later.

Neighbor offered to give me a spear that can be attached to a trailer hitch, if I'm interested. That hitch would be welded to the top of the tractor bucket. This isn't even the same neighbor I was going to have do all the bucket reinforcement welding. That was a nice offer.

To tired to do much today and need to rest. Will be in the corner booth awhile. Rob

Whistling

Hi Gang,

Chloe, I'll have that Double Denver that you stuck in the fridge for me a while back. and seeing it is close to New Years I'll upgrade today to an RC Cola.

Been out of touch with ya' all for a bit now as my hard drive crashed  as a Christmas present to me.  I bought a new one yesterday and installed it last evening, but , it still needs all the systems installed on it.  May get to that today, I'm not sure.   So I have borrowed my wife's lap top to send this message to you.

I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy New Year and that it brings with it an over abundance of good things.  As we all stand in need of something, I pray that those needs will be met. Be it employment, financial, health, spiritual or whatever, may you find yourselves better off and much improved when we are looking at the eve of 2013 than now.

Can you believe it is 12 years since the scare of Y2K. That year my Wife and I spent that evening at the Nursing Home where she was the administrator, waiting for something to happen and of course it didn't. They just weren't sure what, if, or how many systems would go down that night.

Enjoy the Evening, whether watching a movie, out partying, or sleeping......>>> ZZZzzzsssZzz

And do drive safely, sanely and sober.  We want you back intact.

Chloe, fix me one of those large RBF's, please.  We finished painting the kitchen today.  Tomorrow, we will get it back in order.

We are meeting some friends for Mexican food this evening.  Since I am on a soft food diet, I guess the refried beans are the best.  I will bring the rest home for later.

Jeffrey,  I am enjoying your resin castings.  What are you planning on doing with all those cars?

Last coffee refill and some chicken soup, please.

The little old John Deere came out to see what the comotion was all about...

....only to be chased back under it's own shed by the new Mahindra...

Took it out for some practice. First condenced a few small piles into one larger pile to figure out the grapple controls, Then into into the muddy pasture where I removed (crushed, broke apart) some very large branches leaning hard on a fence. Not the best tires for mud, but better than turf tires and less damaging than the deep tread types. Tried picking up a large section of log and it handled it easily. Lastly, used the box blade to smooth out a spot under the hay shed where it will rest. Might take me a little time to really get used to it, but it should everything I need it to. Rob

Sue: U-Pick-n-Pull antique auto parts junkyard.

Went grocery shopping today. Wal-Mart has ticked me off again. Their Great Value brand link beef sausage is my favorite. At $10 and change a package for thirteen links it was a good value. No longer! The price is still $10 and change but there's only seven links to a package now. I'm not paying the thirteen link price for seven links. No way! Richard's sausage costs a little more but there's a lot of sausage in the box. Food prices keep going up while gas prices are slowly going down. That seems wrong.

Evenin' folks!

Flo, just a cup of hot chocolate right now.

Just about out the door to go over to my son's house for the festivities tonight.  Probably will play some Euchre, maybe a couple of board games or dominoes, snack, watch some of the silliness on the Idiot Box (I hear they have taken Dick Clark out of the Nursing Home again so he can stare into the camera and look lost...).  I'm sure there will be lots of crowds out and about dressed up like total clowns and acting like idiots to be seen on TV, and other such things like list of all the good and the bad (gotta hash over all the bad things that happened to people) stuff from the last year.  Then we can watch the "Ball" drop, congratualate each other for surviving last year, and give wishes for a better next year.  Then we will all get in our vehicles and try to get safely home........

Rob....  Cool new toy! Smile, Wink & Grin

My best wishes to each of you for a safe, prosperous, and happy New Year!

Evening All,

Just finished taking down all the Christmas stuff. MOH believes it is bad luck to have it up after New Year. Went to the club for a couple of hours today and did some switching. I sliced the pork tenderloin today and we will make schnitzel first thing tomorrow along with cleaning house before the rest of the  family make it over.

Lee- Hope you made it through the earthquake without damage or injury.

Hope everyone has a HAPPY NEW YEAR and a great 2012.

New Years Resolutions - Bah Humbug.

Good evening all. Like many of you we'll celebrate early. GMT actually which works out to 7pm here. Got my Sunday chores done today so I can hopefully sneak into the layout room tomorrow (don't clue the CFO in please). I got a rocket the other day for spending a week of evenings painting trees on the walls. I figured it was better than spending the same number of evening in the LB (local bar).

Lee - glad the surgery went well and hope the follow up goes as well.

Jeff- nice job on the resin cars. The junk yard should look great! Also glad you escaped the couch patrol unscathed more or lessWhistling

Sue and Todd - take a break - it's New Years! For myself I'll start the ceiling in the dining room as soon as the patterned metal tiles show up. We had some leaks before I added the pressure regulator to the water supply and I would just as soon replace the damaged sheetrock with something i can take down and inspect behind as all the plumbing is above that room.

Hope you all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year. May those of you with health issues see improvement and those of you with job issues see some resolution.   CUL, J.R.

Galaxy - glad your new heater has worked in ok. Did you ever get your layout up and running?

 CUL, J.R.

JR- you asked this a couple pages back and I forgot to answer. If you are talking about the new Under the Xmas tree layout...it is still a board with some track not even affixed to it yet, with some trim for edging standing by. We had no money for trains this whole year so it got put on hold. It is up for the season though we havent run any trains on it! My other layout, that I was "taking down" is down to bare tracks on the foam.Everything else is in storage boxes. I was going to expand it, but again, lack of funds delayed that project. We will see what the New Year will bring, though I don't expect much progress as of YET.Crying  Confused  Embarrassed

Good (New Year's) Evening, Janie - I'll have a RBF please (just because, that's why... Wink) Thank you!

Jeffrey, sent you a PM/conversation (and then saw the answer to one part of it, my bad...). Hope you don't have to do any more moving of 'stuff' (or spiders) anytime soon (!) - that is never something that I'd guess you feel up to, and glad the movers could get your mother and father's new stuff moved in (and the other stuff moved around). Great job on your cars there! BowBow I look forward to seeing the final U-Pull location photos. Yeah

Lee, good to hear that you have passed that problem on (and hope you don't have any re-occurence of it, too)! Rest up, fella! (That pulling the stent sounds a bit nerve-wracking to me, too Surprise)

Sue, can you even have chicken broth to go with all that white stuff? I might later this new year be having a couple of wisdom teeth taken out, and I'm sure the 'white diet' would not be my favorite thing, either.

Chad, from our Diner Tom (in Californiyay)'s experience with a few of his locos, I'd guessed that your Shay might be a brass one. (Waaaaay out of my price league..Surprise)

'Young' David' (Parks) has been in, I see - and good to hear you have better sense about those Air Jordan shoes investments(?). Congrats on having a good starting supply for your layout plans! Thumbs Up

Rob, great to hear that (1) your tractor is on the way to you, and (2) that your buddies there are helping you out with the tree (and by extension, your shed). Glad you are posting, good days or not-so-good days. AngelAngel Man, I just saw your before and after pics of the tree/shed area! Wow Between those guys and the one who offered you the spear, you have some definite buddies there! Bow And thanks for posting the photo and the initial review of your new tractor - sounds like it'll do most all of what you need around the place!

Ken, are you in on the store pool for how long Tim will last as acting manager (before either he gets canned, or the store gets closed down)? I'd be inclined to bet toward the shorter end of THAT, if I were a betting guy, which I'm not... Do you have your resume updated? (Before your blood pressure shoots through the roof) (And no, I won't tell your boss you're behind the RC if he calls...Whistling)

NSJoe, I see you've been racking up the (college/university) acceptance letters (still...). SmileThumbs Up

Oh, rats! I forgot to mail Todd's Happy New Year's Day card! It'll arrive late (verrrrrryy late...). He will be SO ticked with me about THAT... Whistling

As for resolutions, I don't usually do them, other than to improve some degree or another from last year. In my case, having started to reduce the clutter is a good start, and I hope to continue that more in the year ahead. (And, maybe have the wiring in place so I can run trains (for real) by next Christmas...)

We had some winds today here, and I think tomorrow they may pick up a bit, but I don't think we're getting any 50 mph ones, at least. We did hit 60 F/ (about) 16 C for our high temp today, but I think another 'cool' front is coming through tomorrow and then cool off some for a few days here.

I went by my daughter/SIL's place today for Ben (#2 grandson)'s celebration of his first birthday (back on the 26th of this month). He got a bunch of presents, and my daughter & SIL continued a tradition from Drew's first birthday: Ben (in a diaper and socks) was placed in his high chair with a fairly large plastic sheet under the chair on the floor), and a small cake (red velvet, with icing, about 5 inches in diameter) was brought in for him to begin eating. (No fork, just his fingers/hands...). I think Ben paced himself a bit slower than Drew did on his first birthday (but Ben, toward the end, was patting on the icing with his hand, then looking for someone (maybe) to wipe his hand off. He ate some bites of the cake (but he'd had a donut earlier in the morning - this was now a bit after noon), and didn't get quite as messy as his older brother did. After it was all done, Mommy took him in to the bathroom to wipe most of the icing off, and then for a dip in the tub. With the red velvet cake, the tub wound up looking kinda pink, his mother said. Such fun! Smile, Wink & Grin When my daughter was young, and I still had the photography studio, around the time of one of her first birthdays, her mother and I had her (dressed in a white - NOT new - dress) sit in a wooden high chair in our camera room, and we gave Sarah a chocolate ice cream cone, and turned her loose with it (taking photos every so often as things progressed with the ice cream..). Ah, kids!

I may toast the new year with a glass of cranberry juice (such an exciting life I lead, eh?), Smile, Wink & Grin but not sure I will stay up until midnight, since I want to get to church tomorrow morning. About time for me to head for home (before the clowns hit the road later tonight)("No, officer, I did *not* mean those of you out there enforcing laws against drunk driving..."Surprise).

May your 2012 make the best days of 2011 seem like a pale shadow of what this new year will bring for each of you Diners!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

Evening all. Just quickly stopping in.

Happy New Year! May 2012 be better than 2011, especially for those who faced some difficulty in any way this year! May it be happy, healthy, safe, fun, and train-filled!

For one of the last times in 2011, H65 is tied down in Washington Yard after dropping its cars in the yard and switching the BASF chemical plant.
