Good Morning All,

Third attempt at a post but it keeps vanishing before I finish. Probably too much coffee after the museum session tonight.    Laters, J.R.

Nothing happening here unless you count some anger management issues I've been contending with. I'll be glad when I can get my meds started up again. So far I've managed to avoid any confrontations with anybody, online or off. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/Running-Bear/icon_smack.gif Well, time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Aw, Jeffrey, play some music...they say it soothes the savage beasts...or is that bre ast?

Perhaps next year you can manage it so you DON'T run out of meds 2 weeks before the end of the year?

I just call the pharmacy and they call the Dr. for refills...if it is a controlled substance I call his office and use the "robo-teller" to tell them what i need then go to the office to get it. I am only required to see the Dr. 2 time a year for those. ANd if I reach my "Medicaid Utilization THreshold" My Dr. puts in for extra visits they can't deny me of. Our Medicaid system must be very different form yours.....more comprehensive.

If you are in pain, I have had some success adding OTC "Aleve" {naproxen Sodium at Wally world} to my planned meds. MAybe it can help you?

Hmmm. Just trying to be helpful. Not raise your ire.

try and have a great day.

{whoops LOOK OUT FLYING PANCAKES!!!! SPLAT!}

Good Morning!! Just coffee please thanks. Already ate….whoa what‘s this in the fridge? I‘ll just heat that up.

Uh…. Hi Jeff. I’ll just sit over here and keep it short.

(ahem) Don’t wanna accidently get that Indian blood boiling over anymore than it already is and send him on the warpath.

I won’t go into how I feel about the medicine issue when I see so many get all they want when those who legitimately need them and the support can’t.

Ray- didn’t you put a diesel on the S.L.O.W. here a while back? Or was that California Tom?

Speaking of California Tom, anybody heard? He’s starting to worry me. He’s been having some problems with that food poisoning and now has disappeared again.

Best get moving, floor wars continues.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Yikes! .... I wish people would take the pancakes off the plates before throwing them. Watch out for flying saucers!

Todd. ... It would be nice if some day it works out for you to stop to visit. Here is a website for the US National Recreation Area called Land Between The Lakes. This is next to us. http://lbl.org/ I hope other diners are also interested.

Ulrich ... I hope you can eventually get everything together as you want them.

JR .... I certainly believe it would be depressing to see the layout as it was before the house fire. I am glad to hear you are re-building. Perhaps, this time it will be better than ever. I recall your saying you lost your old plastic car models, too. I'm sure it is sad to think about it. Best wishes as you continue rebuilding.

Here are more photos of our June 2008 Colorado trip. We had traveled on Amtrak to western Colorado to visit friends. These pictures are from our trip back to Denver.

Our eastbound train is arriving at the station in Grand Junction. Passengers were kept in teh station until the train stopped, but I poked my camera out through the station door..

Meeting the W B Amtrak:

The next group of photos are looking out teh window of the rear door of the back of our train. There were plenty of UP and BNSF trains running on the old DRGW. UP owns the track, and BNSF has running rights. All freight trains has locomotives working at each end of the train.

Good morning All,

44F and only partly cloudy this morning. All the rain has stopped for now though all the backup in the park behind us is evident still.

Weird last night  -  couldn't sleep and was tapping in a post and it just vanished - twice. Not sure why and when I did post an abreviated version all that was fine. Go figure.

I can sympathize with Jeff. Even though I've been on mostly the same meds since 95 the ins co won't allow more than a 30 day supply (probably don't want it to go to waste if I kick before it runs out) and the docs will only write about 6 refills between perscriptions. Once the scrips run out they won't let you reup without lab reports, etc. Like Jeffs' doc mine won't rewrite anything without the visit and even with insurance they hit me $45.00 per visit (more for specialists). Even thoseof you unfortunate enough to have landed on disability have different scenarios depending on which state you live in. I am disappointed Jeffs' doc wouldn't bend and let him have refills on his promise to see him when he gets a fresh set of visits the beginning of next year, but what satrap decided you can only be sick so often on state insurance ? Sorry Zoe I'll get off the soapbox now and get bback to w..k.   See you later, J.R.

 Morning Fellow Food Fighters!

Flo, Coffee please and a rain coat and safety goggles.

Took the wife to the ER Tuesday. Few days before Christmas she was out at the mall and got a cramp in her left leg. Pain went away, but returned a few times over the following week. Other day she noticed the left leg was swelling a little. Called the Dr offices to make a appointment and was told to go straight to the ER. It could be a blood clot. Hung around for a hour, then went to work, we where short handed. No blood clot luckily and Sue got to come home. I am still not sure what it was, I got home late Tuesday and to be honest I have forgot what she told me.

Far as work, phones where crazy for the first few hours! Nothing like a few inches of snow to get people thinking about new tires! But at last Sigh Very few folks came into the store, as the snow melted so did there need for new tires.

Train Front Have not ran the layout sense Christmas Eve, been watching the DVD's my daughter bought me. Why run scale trains when you can watch doubled headed Y-6b's, Class A's and Big Boys? Whistling If you are a Steam Fan (most of us are) it is a great DVD collection.

Jeffery Hang in there, first of the year is just next week! (as I am ducking, he threw a pancake at me) Laugh

Ulrich, good luck on your quest to get the heck out of Germany!

See you later, I am off today.

***Garry, excellent pics, especially the UP. Others were of course good, too.

***Ken, glad it didn't turn into anything serious. Do wonder what she had though.

***Barry, that's an interesting vehicle.

Mornin' everyone!

Whoa!  What happened in here, Zoe?  Someone not in a good mood.....  OK, I'll be super nice today.  Ah, just a dark roast coffee for me this morning....  Huh?  Used pancakes... Cheap?  Ah, I'll pass on THAT...  Think I'll head over to the back booth by the stove and stay out of site for a while.  Thanks!

Todd?  A diseasal on the SLOW?  Never!  Closest I would ever get might be a Gas Mechanical like this old 1919 era girl:

It's a beautiful Winter day outside here in the Finger Lakes.....  By THAT I mean it is cold, snowing, and a 25 to 30 mph wind!  City has sent out the salt trucks this morning even though there is just a light dusting of snow on the ground.  most of it is in the air and traveling sideways!

I will going over to my son's house around noon today to help him set up the new iMac.  he just called and said he was going to call Time Warner to get all the info to set up his internet service...  I told him to chill!  Don't need to do any of THAT as it will be all brought over when we clone the old computer onto the new.... All his passwords and setting will be intact.

Best get moving...  Lots of stuff to do today!

 Hello Fellow Dinners!

Flo, it is Beer Thirty, I will take a tall cold one please. Beer

While I cannot remember Elliot helping me with questions (more than likely did) I do owe him a big thank you for the dinner. More than likely he is living on a Paradise off my beer tap!

Story of a Bank Ran By Stupid People!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, Bank Of Stupid Strikes Again?

1 My monthly statement shows I owe $1357.00 a month for the house payment.

2 Have a letter stating my house payment is $977.00 a month.

3 Went to make the house payment at a local Stupid Branch Offices and was told my payment was only $877.00?

Well, I took the easy way and only paid the $877.00, this is a tight pay check. But then gain they all are of late.

My Wolfhound has fleas! Yep, Shaddy has them bad again, and she is allergic to them. Sue found bleeding sours on the inside of her legs! Luckily no Vet visit but $30.00 for flea stuff and $30.00 for a antibiotic and for Prednisone. Wife was warned that a side effect of Prednisone is it can make the dog Vicious! Great, just what I need, a P O 140 pound Wolfhound!

Shaddy, want to go for a car ride to Bank Of Stupid?

Wife ER Visit Front. Asked her today what they thought was wrong with her from her ER visit. I was told they could not finding anything wrong with her (personally I think they did not look that hard)  and could not explain why just the one leg was swelling up. Oh well, just another $1689.00 I did not need. Whistling

Train Front I ran the layout today and I did enjoy it till I had a derailment. I had the Y6 B high-balling at 50% power (about 50 sMPH) and she picked a turnout. Boy she sounded great till the mishap. Might still work on the Big Boy and get her up and running.

Hum, I was rather talkative this afternoon was I not? Well, time to work on trains. See you later! Ken

Well I tried to drop in this morning but the pain got the better of me and I went back to bed. After a couple of doses of meds I’m just now getting up.  Surgery is set for 1300 tomorrow so wish me luck.  Looks like a 5 hour day at the hospital.  I’m really looking forward to getting back to work!

Jeff I’m sorry this had to happen to you, I can’t imagine running out of my pain meds right now I wouldn’t be able to function.  You’re a better man than I am.

Ken glad to hear the Mrs is doing ok.

My GF’s dog had to be put to sleep today; cancer was just too much for the poor dog.  Dorothy went to work this afternoon but I know she is not having a good day.

Afternoon everyone!

Flo, i'll have a bowl of the chicken soup from yesterday and a hot chocolate.  BTW, Where are the 4 Calling Birds?  Had to get rid of them?  Oh, their language was obscene....

Just got back from my son's house.  Couldn't clone the new iMac to his old Mac Mini.  It was too old to be able to do it THAT way, so we did a new set up and finally put them both on a network and brought over all the photos, movies, and other items THAT have been clogging the hard drive on the old thing.  My son couldn't believe how fast the iMac is compared to the old computer.

Have a meeting to go to tonight at the Scout Office here in town.  Our District Executive has been promoted to a new position within the council and will be leaving our district.  Tonight will be a party for him.  I am not sure whether the new DE will be introduced or not.  He will have very big shoes to fill as our present one has been great!

Probably no hobby time for me today.......

Later!

Evening All,

At home since it is my early day. I ballasted about 8 inches of track tonight so it would be set for Friday. It was the 2 sections of track pans that I had put down. I talked to Chuck at LRT yesterday. I was still confused about IR placement and wiring. After talking for about 10 minutes the Idea went off and I finally understood. Sometimes I'm pretty slow understanding thingsDunce. Hopefully I will have 2 working signals Friday afternoon.

Lee- Best wishes for your surgery and I am sorry for your GF's loss.

Ken- Did they do a Doppler study for blood clots? I hope they get it figured out quickly.

Jeff- Hope you get your refills sooner rather than later.

Prayers for all in need.

Chicken & rice with veggies, please.

Good news, tree removal from shed is down to $800. Still a lot, but sure beats that $1,500 estimate.

With half a left arm (do to pectoral thing) and a bum index finger on hand of good arm, no surprise I hurt my neck trying to compensate.

I'm not the only one here with challenges, so wishing the rest of you improvements on your own.

Need to rest now Ice pack for my neck, please. Will be in the corner booth awhile. Rob

Good Evening, Chloe - I'll have the hot open face roast beef special (and some mashed potatoes to go with the gravy), with asparagus and a side salad, as well as a glass of your Finger Lakes wine, please. Thank you.

Darren, it sounds like your weather lately has been sort like ours (warming up, that is - we didn't get much but a small dusting of the white stuff, and that didn't last even one day). We're supposed to reach the upper 50's (F) by the weekend. Cool Our Canadian Diners would be breaking out the summer shorts (if they haven't already)! Smile, Wink & Grin

Curt Webb
Cape Jim- You are correct it was a JL innovative kitI was mistakenWhistling

Oh rats, Curt - I was hoping there was another company making those.Sad But the JL Innov. ones look good (once they're put together).

Chad, I love your Shay - who makes that one (or did you do a lot of mods and detailing)? I have one MDC two-truck Shay (pretty much stock) that a local MRR club guy redid the motor and gearing (I know he used some NWSL parts, but he didn't tell me what all he put in it, and I'm leary of trying to take the shell off, for fear of really making a wreck of things). He put a DCC decoder in it before he closed it up, and it can run nice and slow for those steep grades.

Flip, no problem on the temporary lapse of memory - I've had some myself a time or two... Oops Good to hear you are getting a (too brief) break from your w**k. Congrats on your presents from the LHS owner!

Lee - hope you're out of the surgery and feeling better by now. Sorry to hear about Dorothy losing her dog.

Todd, I (sorta) think I got your wife's geneology straight now... I think... Smile, Wink & Grin

(Hey, i just figured out another reason why I like coming to the Diner - free entertainment! [OUCH!] Chloe, I did not mean you, really!)

Jeffrey, your new motive power hasn't been weathered like you usually do......Whistling Hope you get feeling better (and that you can get your meds filled ASAP). AngelAngel

Sue, I wish I were going crazy with (assembling) the pine trees, but they're just sitting on the w**kbench/DR table currently. I need to get some way to cut the thick wire I got, into short lengths (to put in the bottom of the trunk, and then stick that into the scenery to keep it upright). Not sure if I have a wheel for my Dremel that would safely cut the wire, plus I need to find something for clamping the wire (I don't have an anvil/vise).

Bob/Seamonster - sounds like you're not getting much colder weather than ours, if your wind wasn't blowing so much. About T-shirt weather for you, I'm sure. Wink

Ulrich, a German pastry/bakery over on this side of the pond, sounds great! Dinner

Johnboy, from that weather report (and other stuff in it), it's good that you don't live in that part of Australia, or you wouldn't be able to let your dogs (nor the one you're "sitting" for) out, lest they become croc lunch. Surprise Good that you got to visit with family over Christmas (and given that you had -30?- people there, good that they are now gone.

I'll vouch for the Land Between the Lakes area being a good place to visit. And they have a nice brunch there that Garry and I ate at (when I visited him a while back). Dinner Yum!

Mark/NP2626, last I heard (and that was many months back), Elliott had been going through some health problems and hadn't been too active with his MRR'ing (and Jeff may be correct about Elliott's passing). At one time, he/his local MRR club put on a layout display at a mall in his area (Minnesota, if I'm remembering right). He started the Coffee Shop (which later morphed into the Diner) to have a place where forum members could talk about even off-topic stuff (and boy, do we do that, some days!). Oh, and Welcome to the Diner!

Ken, glad to hear your wife didn't need to stay overnight (and hope that her doctor can get it figured out and kicked down). The thought of taking Shaddy to B-of-Stupid sounds good, Yeah but I think you'd have to go further up their food chain for it to really change things. Grumpy

Rob, good to hear you got a better estimate on the tree than your first one. Rest up and hope that your neck (and other pains) will be better in the morning. AngelAngel

Vacation is nice - we had frost on the cars this morning, and I just decided to be lazy and do some stuff inside until about lunchtime. The windshield was pretty clear by then! Smile Have been trying to sort out all the various things I *could* do, vs. which of them is really needful/important (so I can actually feel like I got something done during my vacation time). I have been making some progress on the clutter, at least.

I'll chill out here a bit after dinner (but won't stick around until the pancake wars - I mean, breakfast time).

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

Good evening. It's 54° and cloudy. Low tonight will be 41° with some clouds.

Got more flawed vehicle castings today along with another junkyard row, this one with vehicles from the thirties and forties. I even got a couple of convertibles this time!

Well, got up this morning at 9 am and checked out some of the goings on online. No sooner than posted a reply than a power surge came through and tripped my surge protectors. There was still enough oomph left on it to make the circuit breaker in my computers power supply trip. I had to reset that before I could turn the computer back on. No sooner got it back up and running than I got a call from my father saying that the new couch was being delivered sometime today. He was at work and wouldn't be able to help. Wasn't that convenient? So I call my mother and tell her to call me when they say they're on the way. Thirty minutes later she calls back and says they're coming. So I get down there. The old couch and a couple of sofas that should have been hauled out are still there! Between Christmas and all the rain they couldn't be moved out. Well, I couldn't move them and my mother sure as heck couldn't so the delivery guys got pressed into service as furniture movers. I had them put the old sofa in my fathers study and the old couch was put in the den right in front of the old sofa that was supposed to be hauled out. Several small tables got shifted around and the couch table went in the front bedroom. After all that the guys were breaking a sweat and they hadn't gotten the new couch off the truck yet. Did I mention it's a sectional? So there were actually two couches on the truck. First some three inch thick cement blocks had to be set down so the couch would be at the right height. Everyone who will be using it is disabled so it has to be a bit higher than what would be usual. Finally they could bring the behemoth in and set it up. It looked great! The rest of the room looked like a tornado had hit it but the couch looked great. Those guys sure earned their pay this morning. After that I took my mother into town so she could run some errands, make a bank deposit and go to Lowe's to buy more weeds (plants) for her menagerie in the great room. She went there on the pretense of getting a new fake Christmas tree for NEXT year as her old one was broken. I haven't looked at it yet but it's probably nothing JB Weld can't fix. Well at $114 (half price) the tree cost too much so she stocked up on more weeds. We went to Smith Jewelers so she could pay a bill there. From there it was to Los Mayos to get a bite to eat then back home. That accounted for much of the afternoon. By that time she was almost too stiff to move so she's now testing the softness of the couch. My father, nephew and one of the nephews friends were left to sort the room out. I came home with my few items my mother paid for. A half pint of light yellow mis-tinted paint and two 24" fluorescent lights for my bedroom. The old ones have steadily been dimming over the past month. I'm hurting pretty bad right now so I have to get some rest too.

Hello all, long time no post.

Been very busy with the festive period and the last week of work being busy. I'm currently enjoying 2 weeks off.

I bought a Yamaha surround sound package yesterday for my bedroom. Big Smile Man it pumps!!!!!!!

On the Elliott subject, I remember 4-5 years ago us regulars came together and voted to call it Elliotts trackside diner. I'm sure I started the first one too. I think it was after the first forum format change.

Cheers!

Weather changing so what else? another migraine. It may have to do with swelling aorund my cervicals which may also have arthritis in them like the lumbar does.

Weather now getting to be down right wintery. I suppose it's time as the calendar did say the winter solstice had arrived. Gonna be inthe teens and wind chill is already at a cool 7*. Have poured the nontoxic RV antifreeze in the drain to keep it from freezing. Told train nut friend he should do the same with his downstairs bathroom as it freezes. It is near/over the cellar door which is nothing but a wood door on an old victorian style house.

Next Tues-wed supposed to be artic blast...first one to hit us this year really coming our way. Will have to resign ourselves to winter finally I guess. Been a nice fall. the next 7 days we are slated for sn*w but no real accumulations expected. Yet. Wind vblowing today like a blast at up to 25 MPH-30 MPh? I think. sounds nasty out there.

Glad for the new furnace. COuldn't get through another winter with it arcing electricity near the gas in pipe!!! ANd it once set off the CO2 monitor. Don't know why, we aired out the house before the gas man came {made him mad that hten he couldn't trace it, but we didn't know that}.

Yesterday my back was giving me a lot of grief. it does that when it rains. Cold not so much, but rain, even in warm temps gives me grief. I can feel it in my bones. Getting old.

Hope Jeffrey Feels better. only what? 4 more days til the new year and he can get his meds. I would look for a Dr. who doesn't require an office visit for every refill. ANd i would investigate 3 months supplies if he offers them. CHeaper on any co-pays. I hope he made an appt, with the good Dr. already for tuesday the 3rd!

Boy the neighbor is geting annoying. SHe has a  new {live in?} BF who has a truck of mid 80's vintage, with the kind of mufflers desingned to MAKE NOISE. He likes to run it to warm it up and comes/goes 15 times a day and all hours of the night out there runnign it and banging on who knows what on it.. Then he likes to work on other people's car in the driveway. leaving his  truck in the road bocking our driveway. this is NOT a "workshop park", its a trailer park. MOH thinking of calling to report to the park management. Lot of good that will do. He spent 13 hours Christmas day working and banging on tires and brakes on two other people's {strangers to here} cars.Merry HO HO. gee..maybe if I paid him $100 for time he'd do the repairs on the 98 caravan for cheap?

Gotta call Roto router to unclog the drain in the kitchen, Can't let teh water drip if it fils up the sink. ANother bill we don't need. ANd we need the water heater serviced. another bill. *sigh*. Hope IT LASTS as a new one rated for trailers is aobut $3k. No $600 Lowes special for it anymore.

Well, suppose its getting time for bed. SO I say G'nite.

Tomorrow a busy day.
