Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Garry, love that photo. Very scenic location and you captured it well.

***Ray, I can understand your sentiments. I'm skipping Christmas this year, except I will send out gifts to my sister's family. Health providing, I plan on putting up the tree next year. Time and will tell.

Only got a few hours of sleep last night. Eyes are dried out again. Other than a few farm chores, will take it easy today. Rob

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a Glazed Sour Cream Doughnut and a few cups of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR Mug please and thank you!

I got up early this morning, showered, put on my Boy Scout Uniform and headed down to the Parochial High School for the big Rechartering Extravaganza this morning.  Stood around and yaked for about an hour with a few Scouters, and then came back home...  My Units didn't show!  I am not happy as now they will be late rechartering and I will have to take another day to meet with them and go to the Service Center and get it all done..... Grumpy  I did get a doughnut out of it for my trouble........

I have to go hook up the utility trailer to the truck so I can go bring home my wood splitter from the Museum early this afternoon...

Jeffrey, I see , on top of all the other things you have, you now have "Old Timers Disease".....  Ah...  I was going to tell you something, but I forgot what it was....  Hmmmm.

Later!

Good morning. It's 56° and cloudy. The high will be 70° and we will be having what the weather guesser calls 'partial sunshine'. Looks like mostly cloudy to me.

No plans today. I'll just do what I think should be done when I think of it providing I can remember it long enough to do anything about it. I can think of something to do and by the time I've gotten up to - what was I going to do? It can be aggravating at times. Yesterday I sent out a KCS Southern Belle grain car to a friend in north Louisiana. Monday he'll be sending me a well car with containers. I don't know what I'll do with it yet.

Good Morning Everyone! I woke up at 3am?? Guess I am stuck in the W**K mode? I cleaned up my mess I had made in the kitchen lunch box, water bottles, man purse, etc... I have a few pieces of wood to cut and install on my bench work then I will be heading to Home depot to get some plywood and order some Homosote. We have a neighbor that lives in her parents home, She likes to sleep all day while her sweet mother watches her son, cooks, cleans, laundry, shopping, etc!  What I do because we love the mom. I fire up the mower, weed eater, leaf blower, But today I will be nice. I will let her sleep in until 7am before I open the garage door and fire up my old table saw. HEE HEE!   I will see everyone later. get busy!

Good Morning Gang!

Saturday! Hopefully a day for rest - I am exhausted. The week has not only been busy, but quite nerve wrecking. My boss and designated partner has invited a friend to join in and she is a very troublesome person, to say the best. Within short time, she has managed to bring anybody up against her, including the banks and the customers. A month´s job is blown up in the sky. I have a hard time to stay calm and considerate, but as of today, I see this not coming to a good end. I will have my partner and his wife over for dinner on Sunday, just to talk about things in a relaxed atmosphere.

Seems a if I won´t be having a job by next year.

Not a good start into the holiday season.

Saying I don´t feel well is a gross understatement.

Have a good weekend!

Edit: Curt - I like your pictures of your layout!

CNCharlie - I prefer not to solder rail joints, but to add a sufficient amount of feeders instead. NS rail does shrink and extend with changing temperatures and it is better to have some gaps.

Ray - Thumbs Up for the boiler!

Galaxy & Jeff - take care, buddies! You are in my thoughts.

Ken - i hope your job situation improves soon. Keep pulling for you!

Prayers for those who fell victim of the storms in southern California.

Good Evening,

Say it seems I'm all alone here, everyone has gone home to bed. Thanks Chloe for keeping the place open this late.

Not much new here in sunny Winterpeg. In fact it doesn't really feel much like winter here yet as the temps have been just below freezing most of the week.

I have all the mainline track of my N scale layout down and now I'm working on deciding how the sidings will go. The turnouts are in but I have to decide if I'll put in a few sidings from them. I didn't solder the rail joiners on the flex track. I tried but the rail is so small and the rail joiners too so the solder didn't flow well into the tiny spaces so I just put in more feeders. I hooked up the command station to each set of feeders to see how far down the track the current was good. I guess I put in enough feeders as it was constant all around.  In fact I put in 9 and this is just a door layout with a twice around over/under.  Before I finalize the sidings I have to finalize the industries on them. I'll have at least 3 besides the freight terminal.

I did order myself one of those new Bachmann FA2s with sound as they come in CN green and yellow. At first I told myself that it was a Christmas present to myself but truthfully I would have ordered it anyway.

Well getting very late and Chloe has started to turn off the lights, so I'll say goodnight.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me please!

Got about half of what i should have gotten done today done....  Picked up my sister's lawn mower and took to the Mennonite place that repairs them (Very well and very reasonable, I might add).  Resized about 40 photos from members of the NMRA Division we will be putting up at our new website, and did a few other odds and ends.

I have yet to bring up the electric candles I put in the windows for the Advent and Christmas Season.  Might get to THAT tomorrow (or Sunday afternoon....).  I haven't put up a tree in at least 15 years (maybe 20).  Right after my wife died 25 years ago it was a very difficult time and putting up the tree just seemed to make everything worse for me.  The kids were grown and i decided why put myself through putting up a tree just for me.  I have given most of the beautiful hand made ornaments my wife made to my sons and their families.

I have to be at the a scout rechartering extravaganza tomorrow by 9AM.....  have to be there to wait in line, sign my signature twice, listen to all the wonderful things that are going on in the district, and then go back home....  May get a doughnut out of it though...

Got a couple photos of the stationary steam boiler I have been putting together this week:

Best call it a day and head out to catch some Zzz  It will be an early morning.

Later!

Evening All,

Got the Christmas tree up today and we will decorate it this weekend. I got the "water" down, the fishermen up and ground cover around the water and on the rock field. This weekend I want to redo the couplers on my passenger cars (10) to long shank. Should be some real fun.

Galaxy/Jeff/Rob- Take care of yourselves.

Everyone take care.

Grilled chicken dinner with a fruit smoothie for desert, please.

Spoke to my neighbor (with the trackhoe) and we'll get together late next week to look at some projects I need help with around the farm, like the pond pipe, leaning trees, etc... While he has his backhoe up here, that would be a good time to burn off the giant mounds of tree stumps from his last visit over a year ago. Would be good to get those burned up.

Not much else to report on. A bit quiet in here this evening.

 I'm Back!

 Hello Fellow Dinners!

 Flo, Beer Please!

Boy I was missing home, and the dinner. While it was great to see Steve again I was ready to get the heck out of KC!

Was the trip worth while you ask? Yes and no. I did learn some new things on the computer but it was the same old stuff. Steve was kept busy doing his job and had very little time to spend with me.

Looks like I will not be getting a store in the near future and i am find with that. I am way behind on today cars so I need to learn more. You cannot led if you have to follow. Case is point. While I was at Steve shop I had a customer with a 2004 Ford F-350 4X4. It needed a Tie Rod End, to me a tie rod end is about 6 to 8 inches. Went to the NAPA site and there it was. But below the picture of the part I ordered there was a bar that looked 4 foot long. Hum, that could not be a tie rod end so I ordered the other one. Well you guessed it Bang Head this Ford F 350 could either have the normal Tie Rod or the 4 foot long tie rod. Our cost on the 4 footer was more than the cost of the normal tie rod end. I did get some added markup on the correct part so we did OK.

Well, I will talk at you all later, I have some NCIS to catch up on.

Good Afternoon

We got some sun, some cloud and a bit of the snowfluffies today..and we did not even get to 38F..it sat at 35F all afternoon.

Anyways...Ray...I actually had a brainstorm, I know, me? a brainstorm?...I am thinking of taking some old code 83 track here and seeing about whether I can sort of jury rig up something close ot that jig I was thinking about

JimRC:  You might want to check with your ISP as well..it sounds more like a ISP issue there as well.

Chloe, I'll have a RBF and a couple of scoops of butterscotch ripple ice cream please....

Coffee refill, please.

***Galaxy, do take it easy.

***Jim, I thought iStuff was supposed to be invincible! Hope you can get that sorted out and back up to speed.

Ran some errands, including pricing a wood stove, installed. Only thing I would need to do is build the platform it sits on. The guy explained what to use, etc. and it seems something I can still do, providing I have everything needed in the dungeon (workshop). Otherwise, large pieces of anything really won't fit into a Camry. This will near the top of my To Do list.

Very tired today. Rob

My back and legs are screaming insults as Jeffrey would say.

Also the weather is turning so that could be the reason I hurt so much.

Did a few little chores today adn that was enouhg to do me in. SO now I am hobling around.

Oh well, the pain meds aren;t really working either so I think it is hte weather helping me feel so hurtful.

Well, you All have a good day anyway!!

Good afternoon, Zoe - yep, just turned that on my way here (though it isn't yet p.m. here in Denver). I'll have a BLT and a RBF, please. Thanks!

Sorry for my absence from the Diner for way too long - have been having the iMac waaaaaayyyy tooooo s-l-o-w lately (like even opening an application gives you time to go to the stove and fix a cup of instant...), and the iMac is what my more portable (iPod Touch) is tied to, so haven't been able to sync it for several days. Have run antivirus program (for a while, but haven't had  time to just let it run-and-run-and-run), and nothing turns up, but I'm suspecting possible design flaws on this particular model, based on some online searches. So that has been taking up more time than I would choose to spend. My almost 11 year old PowerBook (lately) runs faster than the much newer iMac does. Very frustrating! Thinking I may have to learn one more time how to dig into the innards of this computer or else try to back up, totally wipe the hard drive (all 230GB's) and re-install the OS (and all the 'fun' of updating from that).

Not as much progress on the MRR stuff, except some bits and pieces of w**k on the pine tree project, and some stuff on mostly done structures to get one or two of them 'done'.

Continuing the AngelAngel for all that I know of Diners' needs for comfort, healing, good night's sleep/rest, and relationships. Keep me in yours as well, please.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.
