Good Morning!! Coffee and a couple glazed donuts please. Thanks.

A chance of flurries before noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 32. Light skift on the ground, barely enough to tint the grass. That’s enough for me. It’s sn*wed this winther. Er…fall.

Not much to say really. Not much is going on. Like I said Floor Wars Williamsville edition is on hold until after Sunday’s big Pampers on a Chef party, so I’m pretty much just piddling with odds and ends.

Gotta w**k tonight and maaaaybe I’ll get into the train room if not just to straighten stuff up. Once again, it’s a mess and that’s trouble with a capital “T” and that rhymes with “P” and that stands for POOL!!!

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good evening all.  Just a quick stop in before heading off to bed.  I haven't made it in the past couple of days due to my just being plain old tired.  Not much to say on my end of things, overall everything's going well.

Ray:  On the issue of your catalytic converter not fitting properly, other places would have just cut yours out and welded the new one in.  As far as the truck running with the different cat, it would have run, but the "check engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light would have come on as the catalytic converter would be performing differently from what the vehicle's computer "knows" is the right thing.  Good job on building the turnout and I know what you mean about CAD programs, I don't know enough about them to really be able to do something with them, and most of the programs are written for someone that will/would be doing that stuff every day.

Ken: I don't blame you at all for going by the book, how else are you as a manager, or shop foreman/service writer, etc going to make money and justify you having a job as well as your technicians unless someone follows the rules.  I do have a question though, don't the tech's get paid by "what they turn" (i.e: they only get paid for the hours billed out on jobs, so if they have a brake job that bills at 1.5-hours, then they get paid for that.  If they don't do any work then they should just get a minimum wage check (that's what all the techs in the shops I've worked in in the past have been like).  if that is the case, then it would be in their best interest to check every single vehicle that comes in.  Perhaps you should remind them of that little fact that they'll get more money in their pocket if they actually DO THEIR JOB!  Ok, ok, enough ranting for me about that.

Welp, that's about it for me, I'm turning it in for the night.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me right.....  Huh?  barry has the tab?  Well in THAT case, I better have a slice of the Pecan Pie over on the counter...  What?  Oh, Blood Sugar, just took it.... 107!  (Glad as last night at this time it was 170.....!)

Managed to get quite a bit done today.  Ran off a document I am taking with me Saturday to a gentleman (MMR) who will do a drawing of the Octagon Blacksmith Shop I want to scratch build.  i have several pages of photographs with some building measurements on them.  I have my own CAD program here on my computer, and I can't make heads nor tail of it.  All the documentation I got with assumes you already know how to use a CAD program......  I also built another #6 turnout for the rework of the track I want to improve.  I'll be taking the one I did a couple weeks ago at the Batavia Show and the one I made today as examples of what I am doing for the Models Corner at the RIT Show Saturday and Sunday.  http://www.ritmrc.org/tigertracks/  I hope to get a couple more done this weekend at the show.  The one I did today is the first I have done from Memory...  Went well, think I remembered all the steps in order.

My sister in Canandaigua called tonight to let me know that a very close friend of hers (the lady that did all the world trips she has been on) passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.  She was a very kind, gentle person, and will be missed.

Hope you all have a great night, prayers for all in need!

I was starting to think somebody had hung a quarantine sign on the door!

Well I had a good heavy breakfast this morning, got some laundry done, went to town to get some supplies, watched The Price Is Right with my father then came back home. On the layout front I pulled the cheap McHenry couplers off the Husky Stack and replaced them with Kadee #119 SE couplers. Other than that nothing for today.

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

Flo, you folks selling left overs again, dinner is awful slow today. Beer please, I know that is fresh.

If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is! Got a letter yesterday from ILL Hardest Hit Program and they said we do not qualify for help keeping the hose. We have the right to appeal and we are going to. I am sure Bank Of Stupid has something to do with it!

Work Front At this point I don't know if I am still a manger in training or just a salespersons making $8.00 a hour. But I am now working at the Fairview Heights ILL store and it is only 9.3 miles from my house. Good thing! My Town Car comes up with a new odd noise every time I drive it! Whistling

Store s doing very badly and I saw why as soon as I looked at there tickets from Wednesday. Mechanic are doing what they want and the Services Manager is letting them get away with it. When we inspect a car, we are suppose to mic the brake pads and rotors, not use are calibrated eye balls. And we inspect every car that comes in! Today we had a low mileage Toyota come in, and yes the brakes looked good. Asked Bob the senior tech to get the specks. His answer was "how about NO" and he turned around and walked away. Hum, I am not going to stand for that! Before I said anything more, he did walk over to the cart and got the mic, and checked the brakes spec.

Had another Mechanic explained they only get specs if they are doing a brake job. Hum, that is not company policy is it? Next car in was 2010 Nissan with 32,000 miles on it. This time I went and got the mic and got the specks my self. Yea they where good and did not sell the owner brakes. But, I believe in leading by example and I am a stickler about policy. Kyle the mechanic then (same one as above) told me "You don't have to do that, mechanic do". I looked at him and said "company policy says it has to be done, so someone has to do it". I bet Friday Kyle will get the specks while I am there.

Whole reason Neil asked me to work for NTB is because he knows I am by the book. Reason the services manger has not been given the shop, he lets the techs do what they want, it is that simple.

 See you all later.

Evening all!

Still keeping busy here, and there's no sign of stopping! The college stuff just keeps coming! I'm basically done with the applications themselves, but now I have to jump into all of the scholarship stuff! I REALLY can't wait until all of this stuff is done.

As for hockey, we've had our first two season games. The first was last Friday, and the second was last night. We lost both 4-2, but we played well. We're really starting to come together as a team, so hopefully things will work out a little better for the rest of the season!

Got a busy weekend lined up ahead of me. Saturday is family day. We go out and get our Christmas tree (we actually go to a farm and cut it down) and then go out to dinner. Then I have a game after THAT. Sunday is the Toys For Tots train, so I'm planning to head out and donate, and then spend a chunk of the day chasing the train (for more info on the train, click here, and for a link to photos of last year's train, click here). The weather for Sunday is supposed to be much better than last year, so let's hope it stays THAT way. Then, Sunday afternoon, I have practice. Ayayay...

Here's a photo of NS 3010 on the point of last year's train:

On the (model) railroad, I've actually made a little progress (not sure how, but I'm not complaining!). My Walthers order came in with a covered hopper, a box of trees, a signal, a few stacks of lumber, and a truck. Everything is already on the layout.
Work on the hill also progresses.
I'm getting some modeling stuff for Christmas, so I'll be able to keep w**king for a while hopefully. But, I feel that a trip to the LHS is in order before then...

Well (shady side still snow [geez, talk about alliteration...]-covered), I've got stuff to do, so I best be heading out for now.

Catch ya later!

Mornin'...... er..... ah....  Hmmmmmmmm???  I guess Afternoon fits better doesn't it!

Zoe, can I still get breakfast...  Good!  I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup, a side order of bacon, and lots of dark roast coffee.  Thanks you Ma'am.

Meant to check in here a couple hours ago but got busy finishing up a couple other projects.  One is a series of photos and measurements for an Octagon building i will attempt to build.  A friend has offered to draw a blueprint for me as he knows and uses CAD programs...  He will be at our table at the RIT Train Show this weekend and I will pass it printout to him there.

There is a rare and unusual brightness outside here in the Finger Lakes this morning...  I think it is called sunshine.  Currently 38°F, the high for today.  Will wait to light the woodstove, as the large picture windows on this side of the house are still bringing in a bit of solar heating...  Don't need to have the place be 85°.....

Think I'll start on another turnout today.

Later!

For today's plans. I'll be going to my parents place for breakfast. Spicy hot link sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, home fries, biscuits. No way am I passing that up.

That must be a big breakfast! It is after 11:00 and he is not back yet.

Nice pic of the GP7. Can I run them later?

Yes, it was a big breakfast. I also got some laundry done and went to town to get a few things.

***Jeffrey, nice layout pic. Like that lighted loco front view.

Met with the neighbor yesterday about stumping the future pasture. He'll send someone over to work on it between his big jobs. Probably won't do much until around Jan., but there is no hurry because I can't seed it until spring anyway.

Did something to my index finger yesterday evening. Painful and can't bend it. There goes my TO DO list. Gurrr!

The Broadway LION says good morning. Some seagulls on bagels sounds ok to me.

Here we are at the end of the LION.

Actually, the end of the line is behind me, and one would need to open yonder fire door to get out onto the rest of the subway, for this photo is in the transit museum, and they would not want miscreants to sneak in. As for rats... The have a cat!

Morning All,

Flo I would love a cup of leaded coffee please.

At w**k today until midnight. Wind chill this morning was 36 F  with a high today of 66 or 68 F. I know I don't get much sympathy from most of you but for here this is pretty darn cold. Tomorrow I need to go to the LHS and get a few things and go out and buy a couple of things for Christmas.

I will talk to you all later.

Good Morning!! Coffee and….I’ll have what Jeff’s having please. Thanks.

Jeff- Oh you’ll be passing something alright. And it won’t be breakfast. People will be passing you too since them eggs is involved.Laugh

Partly sunny, with a high near 39. 70% chance of sn*w tonight with accumulations expected less than an inch. Good thing I have 4 wheel drive eh? (chuckle) I still will avoid driving tomorrow because of all the idiots who’ve never driven in sn*w and drive like chuckleheads.

Speaking of sn*w… looks like J.R. may be in for it again. Crossin my fingers it isn't as bad as the guessers here are saying.

Welp, things went well at the Texas Roadhouse last night. Food wasn’t bad, but I still think that Lonestar is better. At least here. Other places may certainly be different. It’s all in the management and help at each locale. Now just Saturday night the trucking company/Farmer who hauls grain for the elevator is having his and we’ll be done for the year. That one will be here in town because he loves the restaurant. This time he is renting the old bank uptown and having the restaurant cater it clear across downtown Williamsville (across the street) so he doesn’t fill the place and take away business. Oh I forgot. There is supposed to be a restaurant Christmas party too. When? Who knows. They do that Secret Santa thing which I don’t likeConfused. You have to buy something for someone and I don’t really want to buy anything for anyone there. Well except for one. She’s a friends daughter. She is just as cute a girl as you can get and as sweet as sugar too. I’d get her something. Or her Dad or Brother wouldn't be bad, but the others aren’t from here so I don’t know them enough.

Gotta few errands to run and a house to continue cleaning up so best get a movin.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning, Chloe.  I have time  for coffee and one of those cinnamon rolls with lots of frosting, please.

Ray,  We should find out this weekend how bad BIL's knees are.

Thayne,  Let us know on the baby progress.  How big will your layout be?  Are you doing prototype for a specific area?  Are you designing it for operations?  If we were to start over, these are things that I would seriously consider.

Jeffrey,  Fun photo.  Thanks for sharing.Thumbs Up

Good morning. It's 27 and clear. The high will be 53 (so the weather guesser says) and it will be sunny.

Anybody heard from Galaxy lately?

Besides the minor work done on the new well car yesterday there was no progress on the layout. I had thought that making the well car capable of negotiating eighteen inch radius curves might be hard. It was actually very simple. The wheels were rubbing against the front and rear of the well and against the sides of the coupler pockets. Simply removing a small amount of plastic from these areas improved things immensely. As for weight, the car with it's containers only weighed less than four ounces. This light weight and the cars eleven inch length made it a derailment specialist. By upping the weight of each stack of containers to four ounces the car now weighs in at just under ten ounces. It now tracks very well and derailments are a thing of the past. From the information I can find online it looks like an Athearn Husky Stack. At $50 each I won't be buying any unless I get a real good deal on some used ones.

For today's plans. I'll be going to my parents place for breakfast. Spicy hot link sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, home fries, biscuits. No way am I passing that up.

Good morning gang!  Happy Thursday for those of you like me who are counting the days til the weekend! No news on the #2 grandsons birth yet? I was expecting a text msg when I woke up but nothing yet. The doctor was Inducing my daughter in law at 10pm last night so it wont be long... I got my band saw set up last night. I still have to put the rip fence together I took it out of the box and laid all the parts out though. I will get that done tonight.  My bench work is complete and my Friend is coming over on Friday night to help me with some design and track plans. Boy am I getting excited!   See you all later.
