Good Morning!! Coffee and scrambled eggs with swiss cheese, onions and green peppers please…, no wait. BBQ ribs with fires and mozzarella sticks sounds better. Thanks. Increasing clouds, with a high near 41. Oh, Lee has a bugger. I though he had a kidney stone. Me, I’d just use my finger. I KNEW IT! It isn’t me. Alexandria IS messed up. I knew it. Now if I could just get someone to say Texarkana is a real jewel of a road design… Welp, would have got more done on the floor yesterday, but Brenda decided we, yes we, needed to “run” in to her Mom’s to move a chair for her. Then on the way it went to set up a bed. Then when we got there she cleaned the room. Three and a half hours later….. Now today, cause like yesterday, I have some things I have to do in the morning and w**k in this evening, she will question when is the floor going to be done. Saturday is my next full day I can w**k on it and of course, Christmas Eve is at 3pm at her sisters. Christmas Day is in the morning at her Mom’s. Basically over the next 4 days, I maaay have a total of just shy of a day to w**k on the floor. I don’t mind, but she will want me to do something like oh, I don’t know NOT watch Ziva when the floor needs done and her house is a mess, but it’s ok if she wants me to ride with her to the Walmart while she looks for some $5 trinket for some yahoo, or so I can see a color for a paint that I’m gonna say “looks fine to me” anyway. Women. Can't live with 'em. Can't shoot 'em. Sorry Sue. Present company excluded. ( I need to hang a bell around her. I look around and don't see her, then next thing you know, BAM! she's standing right there)

Morning All,
At w**k again today with a high of 81 F today, and there definitely is no snow skiing any where around here. I painted the roof cab on the mogul last night grimy black since I really did not like the red color they used on it. It came out well. I will post pictures later. Tomorrow I plan on testing signal leads and soldering the wire extensions to them in preparation to installing them. THe leads already have resistors attached so I don't need to add them.
Todd- I can sympathize with you about home projects having done numerous ones.
Lee- Have you passed it yet. I've been lucky so far. Knock on wood.
Everyone take care.

Good morning. Winter begins today. It's very wet here. The temp is 48°, the high will be 60° so the weather guesser says and there's a near 100% chance of rain this morning. If my calculations are correct last night was the longest night of the year (5:16 pm to 5:30 am). I checked the rain gauge yesterday to see how much rain we got on the 20th. Three and three eighths inches. That brought the lake up a bit but nowhere near where it needs to be. It will be interesting to see how much we get today.Well, this morning I moved the painted castings out of the project area. Problem is the space has been taken up by more unpainted castings. Unless the rain clears out I won't be able to start on them today. They first need to be lightly sprayed with gray primer. Otherwise the latex paint I use won't stick in an even coat, rather bead up, run off or both. These castings are mostly assorted crates, a few wheels and a junk scene with a couple of Model T's and a few other pre-1930's cars.

Curt How about a video of he new engine, like to hear what it sounds like.
Well, time to take my meds. See you all later.

Good morning everybody.
Wow! Todd is hungry this morning! I think Barry met his match!
Jeff ... You're doing well with painting those resin castings. I have used several vehicles from a couple of companies for my scenes.
Curt ... I hope you like the 2-6-0.
Here is some branchline activity. The doodlebug is making its morning run from Hinterland (end of branch line) to Valley Heights (junction with main line).

Trying to decide if I should drop in on the Inlaws at the assisted living home. Kinda one of those things I only did with the wife as a call of duty. Really have not felt like it yet. And as fast as their memories have declined, Don't know if they would remember the visit after I leave anyway.
Same index finger is still messed up. For it to still be giving me this much grief, must have done something bad to it, like ligament damage. Oh well.
Hope to make it down to the train room this evening. Need some train time. Chance of Severe Storms this afternoon. Oh boy!
Rob
Rob ... Yes, I think you should visit the in-laws. It may be good for yourself as well as for them. .... I hope you can solve the tree problem safely soon. ...... We have a lot of fallen trees all over this area from the Spring storms. Not that leaves are down, we can see a large percent of trees were blown over with the 100 mph winds then.
Neighbor's dog was hit and killed by the mail carriers car. The dog's owner would leave the dog outside to roam all day long while he was not home. It was an overly friendly undisciplined young dog. It would have been a nice dog if it did not like to jump up to people with muddy paws. I think the dog owner should have taken better care of the dog so that would not have happened.
Even the BEST care will not keep your animals around forever.
Here are my pictures of these bears...
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat pancakes, bacon, and a cup of your finest dark roast coffee in an R&GV RR mug. Oh and lave the bottle of NYS Dark Amber Maple Syrup right here at the table please.
Rob, I also think you should visit the in-laws. Even if after you leave they look at each other and say, "Who was THAT man?" For the present it would be good for you to keep those traditions going...... Hope you have found someone to take the tree down for you.
Gary, some people should not be allowed to harbor animals.... Notice I didn't say pets! I he had to put the poor dog outside all day, it should at least have food, water, and shelter outside, and be tied up. I am wondering how this will become the fault of the USPS..............
[edit] Lion, how sad to see those majestic grizzlies have to be put down. Far better than to have them endure pain though. I'm sure they had a good life together and that the decision was a difficult one for the keepers.
We have had some really strange things going on around these parts lately. A few qualify for a Darwin Award, like: A guy driving a deer he just hit to a hospital while drunk and Man shot in neck in a hunting accident.
I think I shall wrap Christmas presents today! Oh, welcome to what they call Winter here..... More like Spring actually. Happy Hanukkah!

ROB, You are right on the one account, however my friend, you will remember it for a long time and I am sure it would also please your wife, as you would be doing it for her as well..
GET-R-DUN, good Buddy.
Reminds me of a story I read a while back of an old Gentleman who visited his wife daily in the Nursing Home and fed her supper every night. Someone asked him why he was doing this for so long as she (his wife) did not know who he was. His reply was , I know she doesn't, but I know who she is.

OK, OK, you guys were right. I went and visited the wife's folks today. That was harder than I thought it would be. Got to see one of the aunts who was visiting at the time. Always really liked her. When outside she asked me "How are you really doing?" I suppose looking for my sunglasses which were on my head and trying to find my car keys which were in my back pocket pretty much answered that one.
Looks like some serious storms heading this way. Maybe a micro-burst will push that tree off the shed for me.

Good Evening...
We are having visitors!! After my father passed away we did not see my Aunts at all...they are coming to visit us!!!
We are now getting ready to add 3 more chairs to our dining room table for Xmas dinner!!!
Rob: I just noticed that you had visited your in-laws....hope things went well there...
Tomorrow will be spent going to TO to pick them up and we are going to have to get something for them for Xmas as well...
Garry: Todd can NEVER take my crown of Chowhound...even if I have been eating more sensibly...
Chloe, ...oh what the hey...I'll have a 20lb rack of ribs with all the fixings and 5lbs of mashed potatoes as well as 3 Rhubarb Strawberry Pies and a 32oz bucket of chocolate milkshake please...yeah, I'll be at the corner booth for this repast...

Hello
Dinner shall be comprised of:
Beef filets wrapped in bacon, smothered in Baby Bella Mushroom gravy
whole kernel corn
Tater tots {why not?}
garlic butter Croissant rolls
served promptly at 8:30 {because MOH is working that late toninght}.
then off to beddy-bye soon after with food coma!!
I agree: Christmas holiday is aday to go visit those-who may not remember- but so we will have piece of mind that we did it. As much as MOH and FIL fight, I keep telling MOH that someday FIL won't be there and then MOH will wish he was. I don't much relish going and spending the day with the inlaws much either, but....there for my duty go I. Especially sincethe MIL keeps saying "this might be my last TG, this might be my last Christmas" which has been said the last two years...someday it WILL be her last though...!!!
A do-nothing day for me. Still have headache remnants form yesterday. MAybe I will run a quick load of laundry though. head easing.
Have a good nite!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
I put a couple of pieces of corn on the cob in the microwave to heat it up. After a short period of time I start hearing a popping noise. I go and look and the corn kernels are popping RIGHT ON THE COB! I've heard of that happening but can't remember ever seeing it happen, until today. So I had corn on the cob AND popcorn. Guess next time I microwave corn on the cob I should put in a bowl of water first.
Actually Jeff I prefer my corn on the cob or popcorn with salt and butter J.R.
Blueberry tea, please.
***Jeffrey, now if you could figure out how to package that "freshest popped corn - right on the cob", and market it correctly, you might become quite wealthy. Think of all the trains you could buy!
Just resting and re-watching some old scifi movies tonight. All the bad storms are long past now. Rob
Time for me to head for the bed. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, I'll have a decaf and some fresh popcorn on the cob....
I got all the presents wrapped today so I can do the Nicholas thing in a couple days. This is the first year in over 25 years I will be going to the "Children's" Christmas Eve Service at my church. Granddaughter #1 will be singing in the angel Choir, also the first time in 25 years I will not be going to the 8PM service.
Tomorrow I will be baking cookies and cleaning house. Should have a bit of time to head down to the layout for a while (have a couple loads of wash to do.....).
Made a pair of turnouts together today to fit in a place where they had to be specially constructed to fit. The Stock rail one one of them becomes the frog point on the other. Tomorrow i hope to have them completed and installed on the layout. Photos then.
They are talking about a possible "White Christmas" in parts of the North East. Ain't gonna happen here in the Finger Lakes. May have about an inch of wet slushy stuff tonight, but it will be gone by noon tomorrow!
Some idiot got hit and killed by CSX in Rochester today. They haven't identified who it was yet, but did say traffic was stopped and the gates were down at the crossing. Don't know why the person was on the tracks........... It was a pedestrian is all they would say.
Hope you all have a great night. Prayers for those in need!
Good Morning,
We hit 65.08” of rain Wednesday and it’s raining again today. Jeff I’d send you some of our water for your lake but the drainage basin only goes as far as Ashland, OH…
Nope I haven’t passed yet and only 48 hours till Christmas…
I like the picture of the truck in the water puddle.
I have been trying to finish up the house while on sick leave but I’m limited in what I can do. Later today I get to leave the house and pick up my refills on my scripts.
I ordered volume 3 book 3 of “Freight Cars”, it’s a book with rolling stock details and some old school tricks to modify model rail cars.
My new home phone arrived in the mail for the train room. I bought a reproduction candlestick phone, now I need to keep an eye out for the scissor gate wall mount for it.

Santa's preparing his sleigh and Reindeer!!!
I’m still waiting to “Pass” some good news along. I feel pretty good this morning I slept from 1900-Midnight then again from 0100-0530. Since Monday night I’ve only been able to cat nap 2-3 hours at a time.
Barry, I found them but they want $80 - $300 for them. I’m looking for a reproduction Scissor gate
Good Morning!! (brings in big bag of Pazzelle’s) Here, thought I’d share. Brenda made ‘em last night. They’re Anise (or Anacin as she calls it) flavored. My favorite. Ya know I wonder if she ever gets confused when she gets out the bottle of Anacin, I mean Anise.
Coffee anduhhhh, got any of them ribs left? I’ll take some of them please and some hash browns. Just to make it breakfasty thank you.
Sunny, with a high near 38. Looks to be the coldest day for the rest of the year.
I’m just the opposite of Dennis. I read no papers, watch no news on purpose, and get annoyed at talk radio. (just my opinion based on a couple “hosts” around here.) I’m sorta news ignorant except for what I hear from others.
Oh I love Tater Tots…. Manna.
Continuing with the floors today. Takes awhile when you can only do about 5 feet or less at a time then have to move furniture back to clear out another space to do next.
I wonder if when Lee passes that thing it will sound like firing a BB gun. Hope there’s nothing breakable down range.
Welp, best get movin got a few things to do at the bank before I can get in to full swing on the floors then w**k tonight.
Doing my laundry now and in a little bit I'm going to get started on the soldering. I'm hoping it will only take a couple of hours. I'd like to go to the club for a little while today to do some programming on the new loco but I will see as MOH is off today also. High today will be 82 F-still no snow (darn it).
Rob- I will try to get some photos or a video done either today or tomorrow.
Jeff- All those cars and the last detail you showed us will make a great junk yard.
Lee- I have seen the scissors extensions on small mirrors in drug stores or the health/beauty sections of stores. They would need to be painted black but it might be a option for you.
Good Morning All,
43F and drizzly today. They are up on the shop roof repairing the walls where "parapet walk" has dislodged the upper row of blocks. Roof itself still leaks with the leaks spredding so THAT is entertaining as well.
Didn't get to the layout last night or the night before, just read for a while and called it a day. Busy in the shop doing wiring harnesses today and some of tomorrow. Catch Y'all later, J.R.
