JimRCGMO Galaxy, hearing those BofA stories (and reading the one about the lady in Florida that they want to foreclose on for "not making her payment in the month due as agreed upon" makes me sooooo glad to NOT be banking with them (nor ever again)! They must have the most stupid board and officers of any bank I've heard about lately, with some of the ways they find to shoot themselves in the feet (which are probably also in their mouths a lot...). Sometimes it seems like what I've heard about the old 'robber barons' back in my grandparents' (or great grandparents') days. Like Jay Gould and company... ...Hey, Galaxy - we are going to take a side trip on the Grand Canyon tracks, right? Please, please, puhleeeeze? ...Do they have laundry pickup on this train? I'm about out of clean clothes (forgot to pack enough). Shoot, even if I have to do my own in whatever laundry facility they have, that'll be fine.

One} here's another BRILLIANT B of A story.{from AOL Start Up menu and AOL Real EState}..
"When Shantell Curtis sold her Vernal, Utah, home last year, she expected, as a reasonable person might, that she'd paid her last mortgage payment on the house. But her lender, Bank of America, thought differently, according to KUTV 2News in Utah. Because of a $1 "coding error" on the bank's part, the title to Curtis' home was never transferred to the new owners, making it appear as if she still owned the home. As a result, BofA initiated a foreclosure process on the home and reported Curtis to the credit bureaus, effectively obliterating her credit score. Now Curtis is left to pick up the pieces for a mistake that was not her own, on a house that no longer belongs to her. While BofA was prompt in identifying the problem after Curtis reported the issue, it's been more than five months and she still hasn't received a letter to confirm that the title issues have been resolved. A bank spokesperson also told her that they'd clear up her credit issues, but that could take up to three months. In the meantime, Curtis' credit score remains in the dumps."They said that they had to keep reprocessing it and this has been a game we've been playing ever since," Curtis told KUTV. "They just say they need to reprocess papers."AOL Real Estate contacted the new owners of the home in question, who said they were unaware of the Curtises' problem, adding that they are current on their own mortgage. They've never received any mail from Bank of America addressed to the Curtises either, they said during a phone interview. The new owners' mortgage is with a different lender. When reached for comment, a spokesperson for the Bank of America told us that they will look into the matter. As of this writing, they have yet to respond.UPDATE: Bank of America spokesperson Jumana Bauwens sent the following --This was an issue that we handled with the tv station in August. It was a result of a coding error. We have verified that all the codes on the loan were corrected. The loan now has a zero balance and reflects as paid off in the system. We apologize to the Curtis' for this error and have made (in August) the necessary corrections to the credit agencies."
Notice of course it wasn't til it was on the TV that B of A did something, though!!!!
The problem IS Jim, sometimes you can get your mortgage with one bank who will sell it on a package to another, and the other could be B of A!!! One family home was foreclosed upon because the bank they did the loan with sold it ot another bank who claimed they never got the first payment the selling bank should have turned over to them when they sold it...so the family was 1 month behind in their mortgage for more than a year without knowing it....
two} of COURSE we will tour the Grand Canyon!!! to be this close and not would be a shame!!!
three} just like the hotel,Jim, leave your laundry by the door on your way in...in by 9 out by 5 just like "one hour martinizing"!
Well... now that that story has been told,,,
welp have more laundry to do, and run the DW., more shredding paper...more running vaccuum today and to clean the window of the Kia minivan and spray the door weather stripping with WD40 in HOPES THAT will keep them from freezing SHUT!!!

Have a SWELL day!!!
CNCharlie and Johnboy!
Good Morning Folks.
Petra and I came in late yesterday. I was too tired to stop by in the diner - just dropped dead in my bed. All of the furniture of Petra´s aunt and uncle is now in place and most of the lamps installed. Today we will do the finishing touches and give the place a thorough clean-up job - that should be it.
We are still enjoying exceptional fine weather, lotsa sunshine. A year ago we had the first sn*w for the season ...
Janie, a mug of dark roast, toast, butter, jam and a serving of scrambled eggs and crispy fried bacon, please. Cinnamon roll - what an excellent idea!
Have a good one!

Good Evening,

CN Charlie
Well congratulations CN Charlie sounds like you had a fine Birthday Supper.
Yesterday was my Birthday as well, only thing is I am now 71, and for the past week I have had the flu and now it has settled into an upper respitory infection. So no fun here...
After work yesterday I went to the Sawbones and got a magic potion that should help here in a couple of days. Anyway, I just wanted to convey my Best Wishes to you.

Good Evening,Another beautiful day here in not yet Winterpeg. We hit at least 50F The car readout said it was 13C which is what? 55F?
Had a great day today. I took thw afternoon off as a day of holidays. We did a bunch of errands and then my wife took me out for my birthday dinner. The actual day was yesterday. Anyway we went out to a French restaurant that is in the Niakwa golf course. I had PEI oysters and then a lamb shank with a mushroom/wine sauce. For dessert I had maple sugar pie. Good thing I'm not diabetic. All in all it was a great meal and of course the company made it the best. I also recieved my CPP statement in the mail advising me I can start collecting in one more year. Yikes how did that happen? Who is that older guy that keeps looking at me in the mirror? Think I'll just keep working and that way I can avoid having to face up to the R word.
Well, not much else is new. No RR time today but maybe this weekend.
See you soon,
Evening, - Chloe? - Hey, good to see you again, now that the renovations are done (they are, right?) and we're taking the southern route. Good that we will wind up in Florida, that'll wash off any dust from the cars that we get along the way. Oh, I'll have a Santa Fe mug of hot chocolate, please. Thanks!
And Ulrich - thank you again for arranging our tour of Germany for a special "Octoberfest". Ja!
Man, I am SO glad I didn't wake up the other day with seeing that ape, or whatever that thing was, and the bear staring at me! But I could probably sleep through most anything in a nice berth with the clickity-clack (of the rails, that is).
Jeff good job on the weathering - I think the Dutch Cleanser folks should use a little of it on their cars, though. Hey, I like it that (so far) you haven't 'modded' that Warbonnet E-unit.
Ray, somehow I think you still are having fun, even if it doesn't involve Middle School kids as much.
Curt, every time you show pics of your layout, I enjoy the heck out of seeing how much progress you are making. (Keep those pics coming...)
PA Tom, good to hear your wife's doing well with her stay at the home there (and that it's not very far away, too).
Garry, great to hear both that your Mom likes 'her' nursing home choice, and that you've a buyer for her former home. I'm sure both take a bit of a load off your (& your siblings') mind.
Todd, I kinda knew from your post some of how you felt about having your Mom's home virtually 'gone'. I think you were in the Diner when I posted my feelings about learning that the St. Louis Airport board had leveled the entire subdivision where I lived most all of my junior and senior high years. Time changes things, and we don't always like how they end up. One of those 'adjustment' things. But we move on and adjust to where we now are, which hopefully has its own 'rewards'.
Hey, Galaxy - we are going to take a side trip on the Grand Canyon tracks, right? Please, please, puhleeeeze?
Flip, I'm trying to keep up with you on the w**k thing (or at least until I get my student loans paid off and maybe I can afford to try out that retired thing...). Bummer about the RR line to the Keys - maybe we can take a bus side trip; I always liked the idea of seeing the Keys (so long as the weather is sunny...)
Speaking of which, I am a little bummed today; found that I need to get my Medicare/supplement set up so I know what the payments run, then tell w**k that and when it kicks in. I think they will pick up part of the payment (since I will not be in the other health insurance plan that everybody else in the agency is). Just hope I can afford the payments (or whatever my part will be).
Broadway, that track looks like it sat in the hot Southwestern sun a wee bit too long!
Thayne, you're very fortunate if your doctor stays that late for you. Around here, I think the latest appointment I've heard of is about 3 p.m. (and that usually means you don't see the doctor until 4 p.m.).
About time for me to head for the bunk in the Pullman; I have been getting some MRR stuff done this week - wondering if I should've given a good coating of glue to my caspia, as those tiny little ends tend to want to bend when I try to glue them into the holes in my pine tree trunks (my homemade ones). Hope to get one tree far enough along for some progress pics tomorrow.
Do they have laundry pickup on this train? I'm about out of clean clothes (forgot to pack enough). Shoot, even if I have to do my own in whatever laundry facility they have, that'll be fine.
Prayers for a good night's rest and for comfort, and see you tomorrow.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.

Good Evening
It actually got to 50F here today instead of the forecast 48F...all in the sunshine.
joe: Congratulations on getting into that college!!
I got a few things done with the layout and got a few things done about the weekend on-call as well. So I am a happy camper here..I'm going to the office tomorrow so while I m downtown I am going to check on a couple of stores to see about more storage towers ...so I might be able to get somewhat of a hold on the stuff I still have flapping about on the layout.
Speaking of stuff flapping about on the layout, I also discovered that I had 5 needle nose pliers on the thing. As well as 4 blunt nose pliers...you think after cleaning these up I'll be able to keep them in one spot? Namely the tool box?
Chloe, I'll have a big ol' greaseburger with the 5 bacon wrapped burgers as well as the slathering of mozarella cheese and mushrooms as well please..oh..and a tubfull of RBF ..I'll be at the corner booth...
Evening Fellow Dinners!
Flo, around for the house and a beer for me! Way To Go Joe! Hum, Joe is buying?
Work Front Dang we where busy most of the day! I think I got to sit down 45 minutes total in 8 hours. Found more stupid stuff about our computer program! If you do not have the tires, but can still get them in a hour or so, you cannot write a work order, you have to write a reservation? Boy that threw me for a loop! Poor customer had to stand there 10 minutes till Scott showed and explain to me what was wrong.
If we do not offer a free alignment check, the customer gets a free oil change? Never was told that before! Galaxy would hate the word I would like to use about this Lady but you know what word I am thinking of. She was complaining when she came in that 2 years ago it took the store 2 hours to change her oil and she had never been back till today. The Midas she had been using for $25.00 oil changes closed and that was the only reason she came in! Her car is still under factory warranty, so no chances for additional work. (whole reason we offer $25.00 oil changes)
I pulled a few strings, got her car in and out in 20 minutes with a free tire rotation! I did good right? Well, even with her knowing I was new (I tell the customers) she knew the policy and I did not. Oil change was free, what can I say but I will never make that mistake again.
Bright side of today? Had my first $1,000.00 ticket!
Going to a new store. Starting to fell like a ping pong ball bouncing around like this! Seems like all the stores are shorted handed in management. Our Kings Highway store was shorted handed and then the services writer walked out today. Good news is it is only 23 miles from home, not 36.1 miles. Bad new's, was told the manager is a snitch.
See you all later.

Well, closing in on beddy-bye time.
JOE-- COngratulations on the college acceptance..may they finally accept you and may you accept them if you so desire!
KEN- I think TODD is right..I meant to mention it earlier that I agreed. I think you are being set up to fail, or at least allowed to sink your own boat and fail miserably. May you beat them at their own game!
GOt 3 loads laundry done {how 2 people can create such laundry I don't know..there is at least another load and the bedclothes to do yet. and SUnday is my usual catch up on laundry day and it ain't here yet}
Then I shreded 2 bags of "needless to keep" documents to reduce some piles of papers. SOme I HAVE to keep, others not so much. THe not so much or "stale" got shreded. DOn't trust prying eyes or ID theives. HAve more to shred...don't need last year's cable bills for instance.....but who knows what they can do with the info on a cable bill with account # and personal info and all. WIll shred another bag I am sure.
Trying to do some "fall cleaning", while my back lets me.
Did some errands this AM so spent some money we don't have lol...always seems that way now...
So I bid you all g'nite!
Chamomile tea, please.
***Joe, CONGRATS!!!
***Curt, nice layout pics.
***Ray, I could sure put you to work around the farm. That is until your chainsaw wore out, or you, or whichever came first.
Long and exhausting day, which doesn't take much these days. Swapped one of the Camry tires with the spare so I'll test it tomorrow for vibration. Also got 2 hay bales from the neighbors.
Seems I may have lost a pygmy goat. I thought there were 21 and I only count 20. Either my memory is really getting bad or coyotes got one. If the next time I count 19, then I'll know it's not my memory and I'll start bringing them into the barnyard at night.
Time to hit the hay. Rob
Evening
Joe- Congrats on the college acceptance.
Curt- Nice ice house
What a day for me. Came home from school, I got a hard copy of my Ham radio license in the mail. Went out and worked on my snowmobile. a 1980 Arctic Cat.... (Say, Lion, you wouldn't happen to know any of them would ya..?) Pantera. The carb was crudded up and the fuel system needed to be replumbed, nothing major. Two days of working on it and almost a week of letting the carb soak in carb cleaner and she LIVES! I love the smell of 2 stroke exhaust.
Speaking of which, I have an idea for some new cologne.
I'll help foot Joe's tab. His money's going to college anyway.

Janie, I'll have the BBQ Chicken Dinner and a hot decaf tonight.
Place is pretty much empty at the moment i see..... Oh! Joe, congrats on being accepted at Rutgers! I'm happy for you.
I have a full truck load of wood sitting outside. It can sit until tomorrow as I am pooped out right now, and it is dark out besides. I cut up the tree that fell from the Drs. property for him and took my half of the wood. It was a dead tree to begin with so the wood is cured long before it fell. Good solid wood though. Of course Ma (Mabel... we nicknamed her Ma years ago) had a list of "chores" for me to do as long as I was there with my chainsaw. She wanted the dead lower limbs on a couple pine trees cut off and one of her Lilac Bushes cut back to get rid of some deadwood and over growth. Took a couple limbs off an ornamental tree they have to get the limbs off where they hit you in the head as you walk under the tree...... I don't mind helping them out in the slightest, but I am beat.... next spring she will have a bunch of small saplings she wants taken down to reclaim what at one time was their garden. Won't be much wood from them, but I will enjoy going over and helping. She is in her late 70's and has some joint problems and her husband (a retired Social Studies Teacher) is now in his 80's and can't do a lot outside anymore.
Have any of you used kits from American Model Builders, Inc.? They have a horizontal boiler kit and a 250HP stationary steam engine kit that might work for the interior of the Power house i am building. Any advise would be appreciated. I have spent several hours trying to find any photos of the interior of power houses (coal fired) back in the 1920s. lots of exteriors and history and ruins of them, but nothing showing the layout of the interior.......
Hope you are all having a great evening!

Evening All,
Sitting here watching TV with MOH. I painted up the Ice House and Loading platform today. The platform was a pain to do. I put fake smoke in 4 chimneys on the layout and picked up the lumber I needed at Lowe's today. I probably will work on framing Sunday or Monday.
Joe- Congrats on Rutgers

*Comes skipping through the door merrily, singing "It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday!"*
Evening everyone!
Oops, looks like I have Barry singing "Friday" now! On the bright side, at least it's Friday for real now!
Todd, Barry's not speaking in a foreign language, it's just a very bad modern pop song! (Note: I'm not bashing Rebecca Black. She didn't write the song; she was just the unfortunate one who was selected to sing it)
Finally, school today was different for the first time in seemingly forever. We went to a school five minutes down the road to do our retreat for them. Usually, about five schools come to us for one of several larger retreats, but this time, we brought it to them (only one school). It was nice to not only get out of class, but leave school for a while.
Oh, speaking of school, and the reason for why I'm so happy!
I got my first college acceptance today to Rutgers!!! THAT was fast! I sent in my self-reported grades Saturday night, which was the last thing I needed to send them. They say THAT Early Action applicants will find out sometime before January 31. I was expecting to hear back well before them, but not five days after applying! THAT must be record time! I wasn't actually concerned about getting in there, but it's nice to know THAT I'm at least accepted somewhere and THAT I can go to college!
Therefore, I'll buy for the rest of the night! Eat up!
Gotta go for now. Catch ya later!

Good afternoon. I'll have a RGIF special.
Hey Rob and Lion.... Are you still here? ,,, Where is everyone?
Coffee refill, please.
***Curt, nice old & new locos there.
Drove into town and discussed the Camry with the two old local fellas. After a Q&A session and inspecting the tires, one of which had minor flat spots(?), they suggested I swap out the spare with each tire, test driving between swaps and see if the vibration disappears. They seemed convinced it is still a tire issue. Guess I'll try this first over the weekend, as it costs nothing to test.

LION buys little stones at a pet shop selling fish supplies. I pasted an embankment wall with latex caulk and then applied the stones one at a time keeping the rows as even as possible. Since this was an embankment, I blew scenic grass material into the cracks. On a building, I'd probably dip the piece in fine sand as if it were a donut being dipped in sugar.
Hmmm.... Donuts... Maybe I have to run out to the C-store for something.

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning since my sugar was 97 when I took it..... Over easy on the eggs, bacon, homefries, and a double order of sourdough toast to go along with the nice dark raost coffee you girls always have for me. Thank you Ma'am!
Nice and sunny outside here in the Finger Lakes today. Currently a pleasant 43°F with the high around 46° later this afternoon. Then it will make it's way down into the high 20's tonight. I'll be toasty warm here with the woodstove going by then.
I will have to drive over to Canandaigua to feed my sister's kitties again today and then finish cutting up a tree at the place I w*rked yesterday. If I can get my half loaded before the back and arms give out, I will be done. Hopefully tomorrow i can get the rest of the outside stuff done and actually find some time for the trains.....
Thanks for all the suggestions on the building. I think what I will try is to make a form, put a layer of very fine sand in the bottom, lay small stones (as close to scale as I can find) in rows on the sand, put a light groove into the sand between the rows of stones, wet the bottom with "wet water" and then try a pour of hydrocal. If it works, 3 sides are identical so I can use the exact same form for all 3. The others, i will have to make up separately. Actually, I am way ahead of myself with this as I have to do drawings of each side complete with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one to be used against me...... Opps, old song running through my head.....
Best get moving!
27 degrees outside. Coat? What coat? My AIR CONDITIONER is still running. Once it gets a little cooler out, I'll shut down the A/C and turn on the cold air intake fan. Gotta keep this room COOL, I am only running eight computers and servers, and five monitors in here.

Good morning. It's 39° and sunny. The high will be a balmy 64°.Thank God it's Friday even though it's just another day to me. The groceries have been bought, bills are paid, any packages have been sent out, needed items have been bought and the vans gas tank is full. Now I have only a few pennies to rub together. Oh well, it could be worse.I think today I'll finally get the L&A decals on the Front Range hopper and get it weathered. I need to tear down the track cleaning tank car and paint the body MoW gray. I'm still waiting on a bulk pack of Kadee #5 couplers that I got for a very good price. Only problem is they're coming by snail express. I managed to find a 128mb Smart Media card for my Olympus camera at a civilized price. The old card is still working but is splitting apart on the end and one side. The only thing keeping it together is a bit of electrical tape. At some point I'm going to have to look around and see if I can find my coat. It's getting a little too nippy here for my usually formal dress of jeans and a T-shirt.

Well,
did my errand run around already for the day.
Now onto laundry and dishes and cleaning house...
TODD- I don't know about where you live...but we tend to have MONTHS of cold temps...Hence all the RV non-toxic antifreeze for water tranks and lines on our porch...so we can put into the shower drain so it doesn't freeze on us. Hence the can of WD 40 I just bought to spray on the Kia's door rubberized gaskets to HOPEFULLY keep them from freezing up this winter. Hence the need for a new furnace to heat teh whole house...hence the snow shovels out on the porch....etc etc etc... It does get cold and stays cold here for quite a while..
But lately with the global warming thing going on the Southern states are SHARING our cold, if it stretches down there again- even if only for a few days.!
Morning All,
Not much planned for today, just laundry, go to Lowe's for lumber and paint the ice platform that I had forgot all about.
Ray- how about something like plaster or Hydrocal then scribe the rocks into it.
I call this shot old and new (time frame 1940's)
Everyone take care.
Good morning, Chloe. I am going to sit in this back booth and see who shows up. I brought a pan of my gooey cinnamon rolls. I will have coffee in a NP mug, please.
Ray, It is going to take some serious patience to duplicate that building. Is there anyway that you could do a resin pour after the first side? Just curious.
Garry, Thanks for sharing your 2-6-0 branchline. Nice modeling.
Rob, Glad to see you back here on a regular basis. Camry's are reliable. My brother is on his second one. ( His wife fell asleep and wrecked the first one.) And, my SIL has one. They just go forever.
Ulrich, Have fun visiting.
Barry, Nice historic photo.
Today, I plan to do my last weed wacking for the year. I has been freezing most nights, so I am hoping that the vegetation is no longer growing. If I have time, I will pressure wash the sidewalk afterwards.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Strong coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.
***Barry, really neat old pic of the little steam train. It now adorns my desktop screen.
Camry: An old friend of mine (he still lives in WA) who took care of much of my auto repair stuff, said it sounded to him like maybe a bushing went out in the rack & pinion. Told me how to check it, but not sure I have a working jack anymore to lift a front end high enough. I do have a house jack, but a car could easily slip off it if I start wiggling stuff back & forth. Hmmmm!?!
Been eyeing little dead weeds in one of the pastures that would make excellent "dead trees" for the HO layout. Perhaps I will snip a few to save for the future.
Have a good day all.
Rob
Morning Folks
Flo, Coffee to go.
Todd I don't know about being set up, but I am shocked this company does not seem to have a training program? If I don't make it, it wont be because I have not tried.
Still tied this morning, hope the shower wakes me up.
Good Morning!! Coffee and an egg sandwich please. Thanks. Long day yesterday. Cold and rainy. But today will be Sunny, with a high near 56.

Ray and Lion- As obvious as it was it just didn’t click until Ray said…”Rather like the hay hook assembly we had on the old barn on the farm” at which point I said to myself…”well DUH! Not like they had freight elevators back then”. Never even clicked until the barn comment. Yup, seen and used my share of those.
Yes, where is Jim? Actually we need to check the back door. He always likes to stop and chat with the girls in the back break room when he comes in. Sometimes I think he comes in and doesn’t get any farther than there. Maybe that’s what he means when he says he’s been “checking in”.
Go KEN! I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but it sure sounds like you may be getting set up for failure. I hope not, but it does seem someone or someone's isn't helping you. At least you have the determination to step up and show them you are the guy for the job.
Actually, I’m guessing Jeff probably doesn’t have much different “cold” than us. It’s the amount of time spent there that is the big difference. He may have a day or two of in the teens or twenties where we have weeks. Your average say January is what Jeff, mid thirties? With a few scattered days dropping into the twenties or teens? IIRC that’s bout what it was like in Austin. Of course then we have the 0 to 20’s that are few and far between down there, but common up here.
What’s up with Barry? He ok? He just started babbling some foreign language. You don’t suppose that’s speaking in tongues do you? Never heard it in real life before.
Again, don’t know what I’ll do before w**k tonight.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
