 Hello, ah fellow dinner?

 Flo, thank you dear. Beer

Well, I am tired of typing all day and really don't have anything to say that any of you would care about. So I am going to sit at the RC and sip my brew.

Good evening Diners:

A quick "drop in" before bedtime to report a tiny bit of progress.  I've got the first house planted, and its yard/driveway figured out more or less. The rest of the mrr time has been spent on experiments in Lupine production. I thought I'd tackle the most difficult flower first, and have the "bush" types for dessert, as it were.Clown

The acrylic paint coloured foams did actually grind up quite well in the Magic Bullet,Thumbs Up but are a bit too course, even after repeated blasting.  There seems to be a point at which the bits get pushed out of the way of the blades on the air flow in the "bullet".Bang Head  I did make and plant some trial lupines - but the flower heads are clumps rather than the spikes I'd like to see     So now I've borrowed some "sidewalk chalks" from the Visitor Information Centre and will try the same assembly technique using the fine powder from scraped chalk instead of the ground up foam. Perhaps that will not clump as much, and "spike" more. The lupines are built on strands of WS Field Grass FG174 Medium Green. It's pretty fine, but straight. I hold the strands on a piece of tape at the edge of the work bench, mask off all but the last 2 scale feet at the tips, and spray with hair spray. I sprinkle on the colour. (...and repeat, just like the old shampoo adsSmile, Wink & Grin) Then I move the mask  down about a scale foot or 18", and hold another mask over the just coloured flower heads.  Into that gap I spray again, and sprinkle on green ground foam to form the leaf mass.  Finally, when all is dry, I cut the completed lupines off the strands with a scissors. Planting is pretty standard stick-it-in-blobs-of-white-glue stuff. I'll post again when I've tried the chalk.

Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.Angel

Evenin' Folks!

Janie just a decaf for me at the moment.

Had 4 Scouts and their parents over for a visit to my Model Railroad tonight.  3 of them completed the Merit Badge, and one has just one requirement to go.  So, 9 of the 15 Scouts have completed the Merit Badge to date.  They all have seemed to enjoy themselves!  They are great kids as well. (As I would expect from Scouts!)

I have to be over at church early tomorrow.  Looks like I will be running the Sound System for the funeral tomorrow.......  I'll be heading to bed soon.

Nite Galaxy!

Prayers for all in need!

Good morning. 67° and cloudy. The high is projected to be 76°. There's a 20% chance of rain early changing to 40% before noon and tapering off to 10% after 5 pm.

Yesterday afternoon we were treated to a very nasty line of thunderstorms coming across Texas and crossed into Louisiana about 5:30 pm. I don't know how much rain we got but it sounded like a lot and the thunder, well, that was the first time in a long while that I heard continuous unbroken thunder for over an hour. Lightning was so frequent I could heve seen my way around outside without a flashlight with no problem at all. As the sun isn't up yet I haven't looked outside to see what it's like. Judging from what I was hearing last night it's probably a mess.

Good morning, Chloe.  I have just enough time for a cinnamon roll and coffee in a NP mug before work.

Ray,  You must be having more rain than we are.  This is usually the rainiest time of the year. We have had a couple of rainy windy days, but other than that, just occasional showers.  The weather has been missing us.  They have predicted snow in the rain on Friday.  I am not holding my breath.

der,  If you were modeling the Pacific Northwest, I would think those flowers were Rhododendrons.  Nice modeling.  I am impressed with how much you are getting done.

Curt,  Is that a fence in the center of the photo between the tracks?  Nice view.

Jeffrey,  Great shot.  You should do more black & white photos.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a sweet roll too please. Thanks.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Looks like the 60’s are gone, and the fifties will be gone starting next week.

Slept all night last night for the first time in 2 or 3 weeks. In fact I slept late. Didn’t get up until after 0700.

Ken- First thing I’d do is get the old tranny fluid and filter out, and new in. Leaving it in could just cause more damage as the fluid has lost much of it’s traits. Something additives can’t do. It may be fine after the change and you’ll have no worries. Myself I don’t add things to the fluids. Except I do run the occasional bottle of Lucas injector cleaner in the gas tank.

Ulrich- I’m glad you are getting some sort of compensation. I was just thinking about the fuel you use to commute myself. Shares? Say, that’s good if the company takes off, then it’s basically free money, if you don’t count your time. And if it fails, and I certainly hope it does not, you won’t be out anything. Again, if you don’t count your time.

Curt- Excellent shot there. Had to look twice. The shadowing is just perfect.

Well, I need to see why this guys Kubota won’t shut off. And I need to w**k on Brenda’s car. I know it needs a battery and that of course requires removing the front wheel. Othernat, don’t know.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Mornin' everyone!

I'll have a breakfast bagel w/ cheese and a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.  Thanks!

Can't stay long as I need to get down to church to watch the sound board for a funeral for a 11 year old boy who died last week of cancer.  From everything I have heard about him he was a sweet kid.  His concern in his last hours was for his family and friends......  Very well liked at school and in the community.  Sad....

I taught a couple of his sisters way back when.  They were great kids too.  Glad I can be of help to the family.

Sue, not a whole lot of rain here.  All kinds of drizzle though.  We are su[pposed to have showers this afternoon.  Just enough to keep me from wanting to get the lawn mowed for the last time this year, and the wood moved to the back porch (under cover to let it dry out).

Have a great day everyone!

Good Afternoon Gang,

just stopping to say hi to everyone and enjoy some coffee and a sweet blueberry muffin.

Still at "w*rk" with lots to do. If things develop the way they are supposed to, then my dream of a log cabin by a lake somewhere over the Big Pond may turn into reality - after my retirement.

Strong coffee in a SOGGY & SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Jeffrey, as long as the lightning doesn't hit your home or send surges through it, thsoe kind of storms are otherwise amazing to behold. Nice B&W shot.

***Curt, I like your layout pic, as usual.

***Der, the lupines look excellent. Well done!

Received word that the LF policy claim has been approved. Should have access to those funds in about a week. That is a major burden lifted from my shoulders. Thank goodness.

Have a good day all.

Morning All,

At w**k again today, but I am off at 1600. I plan on putting in the WS risers tonight. Other than that I have nothing.

Jeff- That is a really nice B&W photo. I'm playing with B&W and Sepia to give the feeling of age.

Barry- I really like that drag racing animation.

Sue- Yep, It is a Atlas Hairpin fence. The idea is to keep people waiting at the station from wandering onto the Southbound main. Probably a little OCD on my part.

 Morning Folks!

Flo, Frosted Flakes and Coffee please.

Cannot decide if I am going to do a lot today, or sit on my butt all day? I do need to sit down and plan the budget till I get paid again. Then I will decide rather to plate the newer Town Car or let it sit till I get paid again.

I do have to call Bank Of Stupid today, they want to send some one to the house and see if I can get my loan modified. Personally, I think they want to make sure I am living in the house. Lot of people just pack up there stuff and just leave.

All so need to go over the insurances stuff from work. See if it will be worth while taking out. More than likely I will, but hate to see $136.00 taking out of every check.

Todd I think changing the fluid and filter would finishes off the trans at this point. When the fluid starts to burn clutch material comes off the disc. But it is still in the fluid and provides some friction to help keep the clutches from slipping. Change the fluid, you lose the floating friction material and trans goes belly up. Wonder why the never made a canister filter like they did for engines?

Berry You trying to get me back into HP cars? Whistling 69 Road Runner or GTX but it could all so be a Satellite.

Curt Great shoot!

See you all later today, I am off.

Morning all from SunnyCal.

Nice, brisk Fall weather today, the trees in the neighborhood have decided to go VERY bright with change this year--lots of yellows and oranges and reds--which makes me think that we're gonna be in for ANOTHER wet winter.  Last year the same thing happened and WHAM!    Usually Fall around here is kind of grungy--the leaves turn brown and fall off and that's it--to get color, you have to drive up into the foothills and mountains.  Not the last couple of years, though.  I have a feeling that Uncle Pete will be getting those big ex Espee rotarys out of Roseville and sending them up the Hill pretty soon.

Not much new on the home front--have to take Chester the Stray over to the Vet's this morning to get his leg bandage changed.  He's starting to put on a little more weight and his coat looks a lot better.  He's a real sweetie, he doesn't even object when I have to put that darned Elizabethan Collar on him to keep him from tearing at the bandage.  Smart little guy, too--he even realized what the litter box was for (well, mostly), and he's been an outside cat all his life.  Uff-Dah wanders into the den occasionally and they commisserate on the state of the world together.  I think that when Chester is finished with all of the Vet thingies (and yes, the leg can be saved), I'll just keep him indoors.  He and Spooky haven't been formally introduced yet, but I don't see any problems there, just as long as Chester remembers that she runs the place, LOL!

Did some work on the layout yesterday---moved the Deer Creek station about two feet down the tracks (it was WAY too close to the house track turnout), temporarily set in the overpass (my new freight yard obliterated any possible surface crossing from my 'off set' town to the station) , and now I have to tear out a cross-over that has never worked right.  Still can't find that package of decal sheets, so I still have two Northerns with the same locomotive number (oh, the HORROR! Embarrassed).   I've got to get that cured soon, before I'm invaded by the ProtoFrogs--you know, the ones that sit there and cry "Rivet, Rivet, Rivet--".  (Just kidding.)

Got an E-mail from my all-time favorite student Chad (think: Sheldon on the "Big Bang Theory" only shorter and more personable), telling me that his voice teacher at Sac State thinks he should change his Minor (music) to a Major,  Chad's majoring in Computer Science.  What did I think?  To quote Chad: "And don't tell me something Generic like 'Follow your dream', Doc, I really need some ADVICE!"    So here I go again, LOL, and I thought I'd 'retired' from teaching.  I told him that I thought a conference with his Counselor and the voice teacher was needed so that he could weigh the pros and cons of both.  Luckily, he's a Freshman, so changing his Major doesn't require a lot of re-adjustment.  And point in his favor--he's an ENORMOUSLY talented singer.  So I will be following the Further Adventures Of Chad for a while, it seems.

Curt:  Very nice photo.  I like those sweeping curves and that nifty fence.

Jeff:  Neat B&W.  I agree with Sue, you should do more of them.  That sounded like some thunderstorm you got--I saw the satellite images on TV last night, and it was just bright red over your area of the country.  Whoo!

Well, time to get Chester ready for his Vet visit, feed the rest of the beasties and then head out into the garage and contemplate tearing up that crossover between the east and west mainlines.   I'm going to replace it, but further down the tracks where it's a little more level (the westbound is just coming off a 2.2% downgrade and it's a real challenge to drop off cars or a helper locomotive).   Ah, it's fun.  I just hope I can actually RUN A TRAIN before Christmas, LOL!

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Coffee refill, please.

Was about to head out and do critter rounds, but Mother Nature has other ideas. Thunder boomer (red blob) heading right for me. Think I'll remain inside for now. Only tornado warning is way south of here, so just wind gusts and lightning here. Trees, please stay upright.

Anyone know if there are trucks like these in HO scale: http://www.mattfind.com/12345673215-3-2-3_img/movie/l/i/d/soylent_green_1973_1284x1024_399961.jpg

Think I'll turn off the puter now. Storm is really getting close. -Rob

Rob,

Athearns Ford C cabover is closest so far to the actual truck type. You can check also Sylvan models to see if there's anything closer. Wiking makes a couple of Mercedes garbage trucks that might do for a start with a corn head attachment added. Just a thought.  J.R.

***J.R., those Wikings look like the ticket. Would just need to cut out a section of the tops. Then figure out what to use for the scoops. Perhaps there is some cheap tractor/loader models out there I can yank the scoops off of!?! Thanks!

Almost dark enough to go out and feed the barn cats. If I feed them to early, the chickens come swarming in.

Sure wish my chest/lungs would start feeling better. It has been fairly bad for a month now. Ordered some new parts for the Cpap mask. Way overdo on that one.

Evening Fellow Dinners!

Flo, Pitcher of Beer please. Why yes I did call Bank Of Stupid how did you know Flo? Oh, I ordered a pitcher, yep that is a give away. Whistling

Bank Of Stupid strikes again! Bang Head Not going into great detail but again I am being told something different!

1 Was told before that a VA loan could be modified if it was not more than 12 months behind.

2 At the out reach held in St Louis I was told a VA loan could be done at any time if I was working!

3 Today I was told that the loan had to be current before a VA loan could be modified! Bang Head

Best Part You Ask? They have hired a company called Titanium Solutions to handle loan modifications and they want to send one to the house to pick up paper work and talk with me. Now, having the new job I have no set days off. Told the Butt Head I was talking to to call my Wife Friday and she will tell them when I off. I was told " We cannot speak to your wife, she is not on the loan"! I explained I did not want her to talk to them about the loan, just have her tell you when your rep can come out. Again I was told "No, we have to have you tell us when we can send a rep, we will not talk to your wife". Tried one last time, all I want her to tell you is when I am off, do you understand that? I was told " we will not speak with her"! So I hung up, wish I could say what I would like to right now but you folks can guess right?

Train Front Got the Blue Box  Athearn F7 A back on the rails with its new Helix Humper Motor. While the engine runs good, man it makes some racket! It not like I am going to blow up racket, but the new motor is louder than the Athearn motor in the B unit. But it does run well and is faster than the old motor before it went bad. I will try the next one in the SD 50, while that engine ate decoders like potato chips, it was quite. Might be the motor mount screws as well, they are a little long for the new motor. Rubber mounts may help.

Well of to watch NCIS on CBS.com.

 Later, Ken

Galaxy: I'm waiting. Check your PM's.

Went to my parents place for dinner today. Tacos! I had six. That's somewhat light for me. Dinner guests included my niece and her husband.

Storm last night dumped an inch and a half of rain on us according to the rain gauge. My father drove home from work in the thick of it. He was glad he was driving a big heavy Marquis. The wind was giving lots of the smaller vehicles a hard time and there were a lot of trucks pulled over waiting for the storm to pass. I wouldn't have wanted to be out in that! My van gets pushed around a bit by wind sheers and it doesn't require much imagination to figure what last nights winds would do. Add to that it's flaky wiper motor and you have a couple of very good reasons not to drive in the rain.
