I am so excited about this, I just have to put it in here too...    (From the Ugly Locomotive Thread)    Well it is a Photo, & the Weekend.. so....

What if.... The BQ23-7 became a standard for modern Locomotives?
Yes, perhaps we would enjoy & actually like something other than the style we know & recognize today (cuz We've been conditioned to them)..
So I got to thinking, why not PhotoShop a Prototype of just that, a modern unit with a 'Q' cab.....?
Opps... I did, & here is my work, an Intermountain ES44Q, a Q..   YES,  a  "Q"  ES44
I took a stock shot & went to town in Photoshop with it..
THIS IS "NOT" AN IMAGE OF AN ACTUAL MODEL!!!!
It is just something I edidted to look like one, if I were to be crazy enough to - 'eeww' - cut up an Intermountain locomotive.
Well, perhaps this is what a modern 'Q' would look like, I don't know, it is just my version of one.
Lets all be happy we still have nice locomotives with pretty stylish short hoods!!!
I personally like what is curently rolling the rails, IMHO!!!
Enjoy!!!

D&H only had four of those.  Interesting to see them all on one train.

All four of them were still surviving in private hands the last I knew.  I don't believe that any of them are still in D&H paint.

Alright, I'm gonna give this a go with a video. Please excuse the not so great quality as it was shot using my HTC Evo which is supposedly 720p but terrible at frames per second. Enjoy.

What's up my friends!!! Been a while since I checked in on all of you.

Gonna post a few blasts from the past. You old timers have seen these, but maybe they will give the newbies some insperation as to what they can do with an old cheap Tyco like  kit.....

GREAT to see sooooo many active members still here!!! ENJOY!!!

Thanks, Colorado Mac.

Just be glad I didn't post all 50-plus earlier photos of the fuzziest, blurriest model railroad layout you never did see! Whistling

MC, looks like the new camera works nicely right out of the box.  Of course, you aimed it at some pretty nice modeling.

Hey Jon, that's a really nice scene, though I think the cat might be a little out of scale. Ick!

The works Inspector called in to Sweethome Alabama today to check on progress. I wish I hadn't used catnip leaves on that tree now

(No  cats, HO people or scenery  was/were harmed  in the making of these images :)

Crandell, that's a beautiful photo to open the WPF. Hard to beat the real deal. Lots of talent on display this week.

...Crandell ... Your sky looks very real! Big Smile

Everybody ... Great photos!

Reviewing my opening post, I see I used the term "backdrop".  I should have said 'natural background'.  I set up the diorama on a country roadside overlooking the Beaufort Range on Vancouver Island, so the sky should look about as nice as it gets.  Thank-you for the comment, Garry.

I was kind of kidding you Crandell. I knew the sky was real. ... You make me wish I was taking another trip to BC. Beautiful place!

Corey.... That's exciting!

Here are a couple pictures of a  Canadian Pacific derailment of four ethanol cars right outside my townhouse.  We we're evacuated for a day and a half while they assessed the damage.

This is right after the derailment happened. This was taken from my bedroom window.

This was this morning after they had fixed the track.  Now they're pumping the ethanol into the tankers on the tracks.

WOW!, just freakin' WOW!  Each week it gets tougher keeping up with you guys (and gals).

Anyway, I have not been doing much the last couple of weeks, but I did manage to add to the shots from a few weeks ago.  Here's #8148 in the same area, this time the track is ballast, added some farm scenery, the rocks are from the back yard.

Heartland - I really like what you did with that SD7.  Great work and a nice scene.

Here is my current project on a new layout, which is a work in progress.  I'm building a 3' long trestle and recently ran a 4-4-0 pulling two scratch built box cars across the preliminary construction.  Lots of work left to do, but it is all fun work.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Lots of great photos so far!

Got a new camera.  One that I can manually change the aperture, shutter speed, etc.
Also got a tripod.  Very excited about figuring out my camera & getting some good shots in the future.

These are from my 23"x41" Mt. Coffin & Columbia River layout (n scale).

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the generous comments about my photo.  It has been followed by equally good ones, if not better considering they are all or mostly models shot indoors. Cool

Keep up the pace, fellas.

This is a background scene in a tight space. The SD7 is only 4 1/2" from the backdrop. Each of my SD7's and SD9's has added details to look more like CB&Q units. The details are extra headlights, sunshades, spark arrestors, and antennas. As information, I made the pair of verticle tanks to the left from a scrapped 62' Athearn tank car which I cut in half and added details.

Rick, your work bench must be quite a busy place.  Your rolling stock and locos are being built and upgraded at breakneck speed!  Nice work.

Instead of my usual group of freight cars, here is an Atlas RS-32 that I detailed and painted for the New York Central, here is the  finished engine except for the number boards which will be added when I get the decals.

Most of the details were acquired with the Cal-Scale Kit except for the two Blat Horns mounted on the long hood. Microscale provided the decals, and the numberboards will be Shellscale.  There is also a Details Associates Bell under the Walkway.

Thanks for looking!

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
