With all the NCIS chatter here, I need to get my wife to join the forums. She's a junkie for it, too.
I had tasked my two teenage sons to keeping the yard mowed this year. But, I failed to remind them to check the engine oil now and again. My son was mowing yesterday evening, and came inside, saying, "The mower just quit." So I got out to look at it - scorch marks on the muffler, and almost no oil on the dipstick. Scratch one internal combustion engine. Thing was only two or three years old and had run like a top. So much for any extra disposable income for the next couple months that could've been used for trains - it'll be going to a new mower instead.

Thanks Lee thats just what I wanted to know. The guy at CMR said it is a craftsmans kit but anyone who has built any big structures like a coaling tower factory or such shouldn,t have any trouble. He says everything is cut very percisely. Called the hobby shop where I ordered the Wathers turntable and cancelled that order and they where very understanding.Told me I was not the only one others are cancelling. Hmmm wonder why.
L&N.....Gone but not forgotten
Hello Fellow, ah where is everybody?
Flo, Beer please, where is everybody? OH, there at a Hockey Game that giving out free beer! Hum, Free ! Got a map?
The Daytona is Dead and on the RIP parking lot. Got to the car round 12:00 PM. Oh by the way my old store was locked up. Dean, the person they gave it to has been written up and suspended for closing the store early and sleeping on the job. Hum, but he is a friend? Anyway need a quart of oil and trans fluid. Ran to Wally World and bought the need fluids and a few other things.
Installed 2 more plugs, added fluids and fired her up and pulled out of the lot around 1:00 PM. My old store was still locked up? Hum. While the motor seemed a little better it was still running poorly. After about 5 miles it was getting hot. Turn it off and cost some, and temp would drop. Then I got where I could check the water level. What water?
Took a gallon of water for it to show up in the radiator after I pulled over. Finally got her started, and ran worst then ever. Decide to park it and went home with the wife. More than likely will sell for junk, unless I can get a friend to trailer her home. But even if I can get it home for free, more than likely the motor is junk.
Jeffery, I got the box back from the wife. Details on shipping will be coming Tuesday.

Coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.
Had to take a tire from the wife's car into town for repairs today. I got tired of adding air to it every other day because of a very slow leak.
Waiting for the sun to drop a little lower before heading out to the fence project. Going to test how much my back has healed with some bags of sakrete for 10 posts. With any luck, nothing will tear or become aggravated.
Hope y'all are having a good day.
Cheers! Rob
Well, $3600 later our new furnace will be installed Wednesday.

Mornin'!
Huh!? Oh, sorry, Zoe.... yes, breakfast... Ah... I'll have a fresh baked blueberry muffin and a cup of your best dark roast coffee for the moment...... (Puts head back down on counter....)
Slept in late this morning. Think I needed it. Also can't walk this morning. My right foot is killing me! THAT's the one I injured as a kid back on the farm... Too much walking and standing on hard ground makes it ache like all get out the next day or so. It is gradually feeling a bit better as I move around this morning, but still hurts. I think I am spending a lot more time on my feet out at the museum and doing a bit more climbing around on the equipment than I was now that the arthritic joints have disappeared and I am 15 lbs. lighter. THAT is actually a very good thing..... I'm sure walking around for 6 hours or so on the ballast out at the museum is part of the problem.
Called my sister in Canandaigua last night who was NOT in a good mood as I had forgot I promised her we would go out to dinner last weekend some time....... Then she bent my ear about a family member who didn't stop in to see her when she was in town..... (Of course she had told the family member that she was busy that weekend.......) And then listened to the long list of people who had provoked her into tirades over the past few weeks..... I was a good brother and said stuff like... "Hmmmm. Uh huh!, I see...."
This week will be another week of little progress on the layout except to do some cleaning and get it ready for visitors next Saturday.
Oh, Thanks, Sue! I hope to be posting some more photos of the engine house soon. It will be judged for a Merit Award in a couple weeks, and after THAT it will be permanently placed in its home on the layout.
Have to mow lawn again.... Seems to be making up for lost time back in July!

Good morning. It's 83 and mostly sunny. The high will be 104 and it will be sunny.Another scorcher today. Well, yesterday I got the Mantua Mikado running. Problem turned out to be dirt/crud in the motor bearings. It runs quite well now. I have no plans for today. I'll just do things as they come along. The layout could stand some attention as it's quite cluttered due to all the recent projects. There's at least one loco that will be getting my attention soon but it'll have to wait until I have it in my possession.
Curt, have you ever stacked blocks together to build a tower? It’s just like that. If you look at my progress pictures (2008 I think) you can see my pictures of building that turntable. I do recommend that you assemble the pit walls without gluing the bottom in place to make it easier to sand the pit walls smooth. You can also use the pit walls to trace out the whole if you wait to install the bottom. I also recommend cementing the pit rail in before installing the pit walls so you can clamp it in place.

Morning All,
Just sitting here drinking my morning coffee. I go in around 4PM today for 8 hours of OT. Until January I won't be here as much (posting) due to a new work schedule. Of the 3 days that I work 2 are in a area where my personal computer internet connection will not work and although I can read the postings here on a work computer I don't like posting at work because big brother is watching Also this sub station I will be at is by far the busiest in the department . Oh well I'm happy to still be working.
Lee- I have been seriously thinking of getting the 135' CMR TT but I am a little apprehensive about putting it together. I looked at Diamond Scale and it looks like you need a engineering degree to put it together. I have also been thinking of doing the manual control figuring that I can always upgrade if I decide I want to. Do you think someone of my modeling skill can construct it?
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning, Chloe. Just a coffee today, because I am leaving at 7:30 to scout a hike that I will lead in September.
der, Your layout has really progressed. That scene will be a photographer's dream when you get done. Your weeds look similar to some of mine. Thanks for the tip on using sawdust. Does that do a better job of preserving the tree that hairspray?
Ray, I enjoyed your photos of the engine shop. We are in the process of figuring out what type building to place where we store the switcher at the main staging area.
Dick(Greyfox), Have you been around lately?
Jim, Those resin log camp buildings are weathered so nicely, they look like they were left outside. I will make sure that Larry sees them.
Later,
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Morning Folks
Flo, Coffee please and a English Muffin.
Well, today we try picking up the Dodge Daytona. When it started running bad I left it at work. I would move it ever few weeks just so know one would think it was abounded. So, today my wife and I are going to go pick it up, will install two new plugs and hope for the best.
Jeffery I will let you know about when I can ship later today. Got to get the box back from the wife.
J R I am lucky to have a friend like Simon! I am all so happy that all the motors are not bad. I was wondering about the Transformer for some time.
See you all later.
L&N I have the CMR long turntable and love it. Bought it back in 2002 and haven’t had any problems with it.
Der John, did you ever get my email about the rail Link?
Good Morning!! Coffee and a sweet roll please. Thanks OK, where’s Bill? Sunny, with a high near 85. Yesterday was another guilt ridden day. There is a saying or term for enjoying something when you really should be doing something else. Guilty pleasures? BUT, MIL really enjoyed getting out of her house.

NCIS front. I believe I have now been cured. Obsessed with the show? Yes. Obsessed so much that I have to spend every free minute (and then some) watching…cured. I think. Today will be the test. The DVD’s were a treat for me. I have never really liked a show well enough to HAVE to watch every episode since The Dukes of Hazzard and that didn’t last the whole run of the show. Before that it was an old show that was on in the early ‘70’s starring Claude Akins and Frank Converse called Movin’ On. Loved that one. Ok so I was twelve when it came out. Easily amused. Wonder if it would come out on DVD. Nah, probably not be as good as I remember it. ANYway, as I was saying, I’m not used to being able to watch something anytime I wish and as many times as I wish at my whim, so when I got the thing it was like watch it while you can because you may not get to finish it before something comes up. I believe I may have come to the realization of the beauty of owning the DVD. We’ll see. I also see it as losing two days I could have been w**king on my layout.
Der- Glad to see you! Looks like you’ve done some fine work lately!
I can’t remember the actual model numbers (something 6000 maybe), but my very favorite printer was third Canon. In a row. It, had six cartridges. Your basic four and then two photo colors (which ones? I can’t remember) but man I liked that one. I only replaced the colors I needed and the thing did a bangup job printing. The amount I print is not much and usually BW with a few color items thrown in from time to time, so this was really up my alley. Then, well you know. So I bought this Brother. (The one I compared to the Lexmark ink). It is a very good printer and copier and scanner. Another nice thing to replace the separate one with thereby clearing out space. It has four cartridges, but I figured oh well. Turns out it does a pretty good job. But guess what annoying trait THIS thing has….. It cleans it self regularly. Yup. Like a dog. Burns up more ink with it’s weekly cleaning in six months than I use printing in 2 years. I turn it off, but sitting here one day and the thing started making it’s cleaning noises... while turned off! Guess I have to unplug it, but the outlet is buried as is the SP.
I best get a move on. Book w**k for the Church, end of month you know, and then Walmart for groceries and then.... for some reason, I have a hankerin’ for Wendy’s.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good Morning All,
I managed to get some layout time in this weekend on the coal mine module; Sidings laid, track painted, powered, ballasted, and put the first layer of ground cover on the hillside. Maybe tonight I can add the second layer of ground cover and install the track bumpers and dwarf signals. The big job will be installing the mine processing buildings on the right side of the hill and laying the ground foam. I was given a short period of instruction on building pine trees with air ferns and dowel rods, so maybe a thick forest of trees will be in order. I ordered another $20 section of backdrops from sceniKings to finish downtown Fox Creek, hopefully the Canadian postal service will get it here this week.
Irene was pulling large cumulus nimbus clouds through the skies all weekend but no rain for us. The temperature here is rather cool for this time of year. High today is 75F, it should be blazing hot with high humidity.
Good mornin all... Well if all goes well I,ll be ordering my new turntable this week, Friday or Saturday I,ll call CMR and order thier 135ft turntable. Gonna call the hobby shop where I ordered the one from Walthers and cancel that order. Galaxy thanks for the help.
GOOD MORNING!!!
Today is AUGUST 29, 2011!!!
May today be better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow!!!
Good Morning Folks,
it´s Monday, 29th of August and our tour through Canada is slowly coming to an end. Any thoughts on a new location for September?
The last two days were not really good - I was in the grips of a bad migraine attack. I ballasted the track of my station module, but had not added enough white glue, so I had to redo it this morning. I hope it will have set when I am home from the STALAG.
I hope all folks along the Eastern coast stayed high & dry during Irene´s visit.
Blessings,
howmus I see there were no takers on the "ant look alikes" I posted about yesterday. They looked just like a medium sized ant.... Turned out they are a ant mimic spider... never noticed them around here before, and there are hundreds of them around my property right at the moment.... Harmless as far as I could find.

Tom
Flo, just a decaf for me right now... I'll be sitting some of the others in the front booth chatting for a bit.
Savard's... Ah Yes! I've eaten there several times myself. Never Breakfast, but lunches on several occasions. Great place! When my old Boy Scout Troop used to camp for a weekend at Watkins Glen State Park, we would hike down to the town from the camp grounds and have lunch there... Nice friendly staff, good food and very reasonable prices. Then we would hike back up all the way to the top of the glen (oogle at the high trestle bridge up there), and then back to the half way point where the camp ground was. Then the Scouts would prepare a equally delicious dinner while we supervised from our comfy chairs, had a great campfire, told stories and then off the bed.....
Howdy folks, trust none of our East Coast friends and their families got too wet or wind swept.
I have a friend holidaying in New York at the moment and she said it was ridiculous how OTT everyone went in the end, with the Subway and buses shutting down Saturday whilst it was still sunny outside!
She said alot of people she ran into were panicking but said in the end it was no worse than a summer storm back here in Brisbane... I guess you have gotta be safe than sorry. - I know what it's like, I've been through two cyclones in my days of living in North Queensland, one a cat 3 (220km/h winds.)
Thank you all to the birthday wishes from the last few days, I've decided I'm gonna save a couple hundred bucks and put in a nice order from MB Klein in the next couple of weeks to treat myself as a late present (on top of the iPad I bought!)
CapeJim: We went through a fair bit and we had a council kerbside pickup last week so alot of it went out on the kerb! Alot of it though was picked up by opportunistic 'locals' who seem to come out of the wood work and scavenge anything remotely useful.
Derjohn: Great to see you back.
Back to attendance, on a nice sunny monday.

Good Evening All,
Never did get the shop power back on and 70% of Newtown where the shop is has no power so I'm not real optomistic about tomorrow either. On the plus side I did get the day to do chores and stuff here and a good chunk of time on the layout as well.' I now have the loop tracks done around the yard and the turnouts as well for the loops. I like the new method I'm using to fix the track with latex caulk as it goes easily and I won't have nails popping up later. after the track is down you have some time to check alignment and you don't need as much stuff to hold the track down while the caulk sets. Time to set seems to be about 20 minutes even with the humidity we've had this summer.
Good to see DER stopped by - was starting to worry about him. I love the way the scenery is going.
Ken - that's some good news and Simon sounds a true friend. Funny the cheapo transformers were the solution to the testing problem abut I'm glad it w..ked out for you.
Time to get some shut eye as I won't get much for the next couple of weeks between Lime Rock and Watkins Glen the week after, Speaking of the Glen, sounds like TC found Savards Family Resturaunt on Main Street downtown. We have breakfast there every morning when we're at the track - great food there and reasonable prices.
CUL, J.R.
Chicken soup, please.
***Jim, neat little cabins.
***Der, that's quite a beautiful train pic.

Jeffrey,I just got back from Wendy's Old Fashion Hamburgers and it was great and better than Ryan's,Ha Ha have a good night, the sun has gone down and it is bed time,Here from you tomorow.

Hey Ken, when you gonna get that stuff boxed and sent? I got a box of stuff here trying to knock the door down.
