Evening Gang: I hate to sound like a broken record but we hit 100+ again. That makes 29 days in a row and 2nd place in the al time 100+ years. 1980 is still no.1 at 42. I hope that we arn't going to try and beat that. The forcast for this week is 105F to 107F for the entire week. This is getting old. The heat seems to be getting to folks. They are acting stupid more often then usual. I was cut off twice today. Even my fuse is getting alittle short. Oh well, maybe some relief in December.

No MRRing eather. Now that's getting serious. I haven't been to the basement in a week. It's hot even there. I have been thinking about the MRR though. I may look into a double deck layout. I'll just take the 12ft by 26ft one that I have and raise it about 24inches then build a lower level below it. Yea, sure.

Well it's late so before I get any more ideas I'll say " Good Night ".

Evening all.

Just got home from w**k. And, although I was supposed to be off tomorrow, I'm working anyway. Lucky me.

Stressful night tonight. I was w**king counter with this girl who is a complete idiot. She couldn't answer the phone to save her life. Instead of saying "Thank you for calling Amici, how can I help you?" she would say "Hello?" Then, it went to "Hi, this is Amici." She messed up every order as well. I had to fix one order three times. First, to fix one pizza THAT she... I don't even know what she did. Then, the guy called questioning the price and realized THAT she had added a whole extra pie. I used the manager function so many times to fix that one order... In hindsight, it would have been easier to void the whole order and start from scratch... Oh well; live and learn...
[/rant]

Went to the big annual sale at the local surf shop today. Got a pair of sandals and a pair of sunglasses, both for 20% off. I've needed both (especially the sunglasses) badly, so I'm glad THAT's done.

A short while ago, there was a whole commotion in our small town. While at w**k, we hear a helicopter flying over. After looking out the front door, we see a Medivac landing in the church parking lot two streets away. Since I was already off the clock, I was sent to see what was going on. Everyone there said that a pedestrian was hit, which wouldn't be too unlikely. Whether THAT was what happened or not, keep this random stranger in your prayers. Angel

Todd, glad to hear THAT MIL is improving. Prayers THATshe continues on the road (track) to recovery.

Barry, glad to hear THAT SIL is improving as well. Prayers THAT she also continues on the track to recovery.

Ken, I love rude, idiot customers like that. If something isn't EXACTLY how they want it, they'll freak out. And then the people who have no reason to not buy something...

"What do you guys have for dessert?"
"I reccomend our cannoli pizza, but we also have cannolis and zeppolis."
"Oooh, that cannoli pizza sounds delicious!"
"Would you like one of those?"
"No thanks, we're not hungry for dessert."
**Facepalm**

Stan, more amazing paintings! Keep them rolling! (bad pun intended)

Morgan, Happy B-Day to your dad Angel

I've talked enough for now, but I'll be hanging around for a while.

-Joe

MMMM....if a dog had wings and he flew into a tree would that make him bark?

That's almost as good an argument as 'If a frog had wings'. It wouldn't have to jump into the well otherwise. It could fly in and out as it pleased and maybe overload the bug zapper.

Well (teeming with tadpoles - those naughty frogs) I second Ulrichs' suggestion. Weather there looks nice - highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Duncan looks to be in sight of Puget Sound? and the logging railroad equipment should be a nice break from boxcars and tankers - so long as the younger ones don't get to fooling around with the rolling stock - hey watch this - no air brakes - betcha I can ride it to the bottom!Surprise

We could give it a go - so long as G and Jeff don't hijack the page...... J.R.

Haven't been in here for a while. JR, I actually encourage youth and Shays. It's the only engine that "All OUT" which the youth are fond of, is still not so fast as to be dangerous. :P

Not much new from me, I'd like a slice of birthday cake in honor of Dad, if it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Jeff,  I gave up on Firefox a while ago. IE isn't perfect but it works pretty much everywhere. Whatever version of FF I was using was more of an obstruction than a help so we eradicated it on the 'puter.

Feel like I made some good progress tonight by ripping out all the track bed to the inner loops. Not all obstructions are hills and mountains. I had found out that the longer passenger cars could clip each other and there just wasn't any good way to offset the track enough on the bed already down so up it came. Also eliminated the runaround inside the inner loop (not prototypical here anyway, and took out three turnouts but allowed proper alignment for the inner to outer crossover without messing up the line from the upper level. Iknow none of this means much without a sketch or computerized drawing or even a link to mapquest for the yard, but I'm darned if I can get any of it to transfer here.  Any more ideas on the next site for the diner ?                                J.R.

Evenin'..

Janie, I need a refill of decaf please.

Feels good to just sit and relax a while.  Barry, your photos are great, I like to see your photos anyway...Wink

Jeffrey, I am using Firefox 3.6.19 here on my old G5 Mac.  Down cellar I upgraded to Firefox 5 on the Mac Mini.  Only site I have anything similar to what you are describing is Weather.com.  At times if I try to go to the local map for mt area I will just get a blank page.  I can't refresh or back click to get back to the local weather from the blank page.  Have to go in the front door.  I have traced what i think is the problem there is that if they are reloading info when I am trying to get to the page it just ends up as a completely blank page....  I have, on occasion, come in here and posted with the Mac Mini.  never had the problem you describe with this particular site.  Have you reported it as a bug to Firefox/Mozzilla?

Here is one of my photos, taken by me, "developed" with Photoshop CS2 on the G5, cropped as necessary, adjusted for brightness, contrast, and color balance by me right here, and then placed at my personal photobucket account to share......  (I can claim copyright to this photo and any other use is prohibited unless I give specific written permission for its use.....  or you really want to use it.)  Rust anyone:

Good Evening people..

I, too, like the idea of it being someplace cooler..and BC looks to fit the bill rather nicely nowadays

Just to be on the safe side I've decided to stick with my own photos..it seems safer that wayHuh?

Stan- Sorry it wasn't me. I don't own a T-1 (although I would like to).

Only big steamer I've seen posted in here is my T2-a. I don't think that looks like a T1.

Lately I've been having posting problems with Firefox 5 on this site. When I click 'Reply' my browser would jump right past the reply screen to a blank screen where it would get hung up. Repeated clicking of the back key would eventually get it to go to the reply screen. After posting my reply there was no guarantee I would get back to the diner or the big room. It doesn't happen any other place, just the Trains.com forums. I was told the problem may lie in Firefox 5 so I upgraded. Good news is I now have Firefox 7 Aurora. Bad news is the problem remains. I can post here without a problem if I use IE but I really hate IE.

Good evening fellas!

I've been a little busy the past few days, so I thought I'd better get caught up. Dad and I went out back to pick the first of the blackberries.  There's probably three gallons here. This is only one of at least four buckets we'll get from this one bush:

Garry, Here's the progress on the Burlington painting, still a lot to do:

This is a close up of the Aeolus, there's more canvas out of the picture to the left.

I had a another painting that took priority over the Burlington, but it only took 2 days to do. It was going to be started after the burlington painting, but a friend wanted it, so I bumped it up:

Now the Aeolus painting is on the front burner and should be finished by Tuesday.

Curt- Nice shot of the Bowser T1. That's got to be a heavy mother! How's the traction? I had to use Bullfrog Snot on the BLI T1, but it helped a lot.

Ulrich, A most impressive module, nice job!

Well guys, I gotta get finished up here, a few things need tended to.

Catch ya all tomorrow!

 Evening Fellow Dinners

 Flo, a Beer Please

Work Front Well, lets say it was not a good day.

First Customer 10:43 AM Guy looking for a twin for a adult, started to tell him about a Sealy Posterpedic. Stopped me, said he was not looking for anything fancy. Told him it was on sale for $299.00, to much and started to leave. Told him "I have a set in back for $149.00. (it is a child mattress but what the heck) Told me "you don't understand I want something cheap" and left. Should have told him to look in some dumpsters and GOOD LUCK.

Second Customer 4:30 PM. Couple, met them at the door, they are looking for a King. Asked them if they want firm or soft?  He said "we want a soft mattress under a $1,000.00. Told him that was easy and the one they where standing by was $799.00 and asked them to try it. After they got up I asked them if you could changed this mattress, would you make it firmer, softer? They both said "we would not change a thing". Asked them "do want to go with this one"? Guy said NO, I want to shop around and turned around and left the store? Wife was dumbfounded. Did show her one more mattress that was softer for the same prices but at this point it was over.

 6:00 PM went home.

Todd How do you make fried cabbage? Sounds like something I might like. I like boiled cabbage, so I may really like fried. Don't think I would mix them with beans. Whistling

Well, I am done for a while.

Evening All,

Well we made it to Naples in just under 4 hours. The timeshare is surprisingly nice. There is a Lionel museum here that I plan to see although I don't model O scale and I looked up the address to the local hobby shop that I will visit sometime this coming week. MOH wants to visit the local outlet malls and some fabric storesCrying but I guess I have to play nice. We may have family come down for a couple of days but not sure yet.

Everybody have a good night.

What's this Janie, a list.....? Well (pure and cold), I see it can't be Jeffrey who has been stealing and drinking my CherryPharm ® cherry juice....... THAT's quite a list of no-no's Jeff.
Yeah I know. I used to enjoy eating a lot of those things when I was younger. Especially bananas. And now I can't have them.

Mornin'.....  er....  Uh.... Hmmmm.  Looks like I missed moist of the day....  I'll start again.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me.  Huh?  Iced?  Like Mickey D's  Not on your life!  Coffee should be enjoyed while it is hot!  Period!  Old McDonalds, now there's a place I haven't been inside of in over a decade.....  haven't missed it either. Whistling

Been a long day.  got up an hour and a half early this morning so my son could drop off the Granddaughters for me to watch while they drove for an hour to a Bath, NY to look at used cars.....  An hour of driving to look at cars....  Actually they bought one for a few grand less than the same car was going for around here.  And that one hadn't ever been driven over 55 MPH in its lifetime (most of which was on dirt roads in the Southern Tier.....I think!).  Anyway at noon Livy's Uncle came over to take her swimming at his house (and have pity on Grandpa).  So #2 granddaughter and I got to play without the older one being around....  THAT somehow is supposed to be easier.  What was supposed to be about 3.5 hours ended up being 5.5 hours (I did have fun).  The parents showed up to pick up Emily just in time to head out the door to the Ontario County Park outside of Naples, NY for my Nephew's 30th. Birthday party.  Just got home from THAT!

What's this Janie, a list.....?  Well (pure and cold), I see it can't be Jeffrey who has been stealing and drinking my CherryPharm ® cherry juice....... THAT's quite a list of no-no's Jeff.

[edit]  Oh! Joe, thanks for dessert!  And....  Anywhere way up North where it might be a mite cooler than in the lower 48 would be nice for August.  I like Rob's suggestion!  Where ever it ends up, I'm sure it will still be the same great place!

I'm going to sip my "hot" coffee and browse about the rest of the forum for a while...

Later!

With the Big Move coming shortly, I'll have an extra large coffee TO GO, please. If we're heading towards BC, I rather hope we end up parked somewhere near the Fraser River. Should be some good RR traffic, plus we can venture off for a wild whitewater trip. I'm no longer up to pulling oars or even paddling, but I can sit in the middle of a raft and enjoy the ride.

***Jerry, hope you can find some extra space for that layout.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Luckily for me there are no foods I am allergic to or cause me any problems that I have found except for the few that offend my taste buds. However I did learn after indulging in an over abundance of baked beans and fried cabbage one day a few years ago, THAT particular combination will in fact cause a delayed reaction. I suffer in that my diet is now more closely monitored by an outside source with a personal interest.

Heading to the trainroom! Any bets on if I make It?

 Sir Madog:

Garry - good question! I need to get some input on where to move the diner to. I guess it´ll be me who facilitates the move. May I suggest the BC Forest Discovery Center in Duncan, BC? Lots of logging steam there...

Not if you get foiled and Jeffrey or I BEAT you to it!!!

Good Afternoon All,

In the shop w..king on the Kenworth today. Got the F350 cleaned up and off to Lime Rock to pick up a trailerw/car and return, etc. CFO is off at a seniors softball tournament so I left the doggies home as well for the day (hard to keep track of them with the shop door open).

Little to report on the mrr front as I continue to prep turnouts and noodle out the rest of it. I will probably rip out the track bed in the station loop I put down in favor of a simpler routing (got carried away again with run around tracks where the prototype doesn't see the need for them).

In trying to catch up posts, I see we have MILs and CFOs not doing well and my prayers for them. Missed the big food fight, but I see things have chilled out and common sense has prevailed (any chance we have a spare bit of common sense to send towards DC?)

The weather here remains hot and humid with the occasional quick storm and thunder boomers. Must be summer in New England.

Jeff - your diet no, nos sound as extensive as mine. I don't react to all that, just can't eat anything I like anymore. (all the more reason to eat and imbibe here).

Got the canopy up over the HO display at the museum Tuesday so hopefully the pilferage will stop. Maybe I can finally get back to finishing the iNvisible display.

Lunch is over, time to get back to it.    J.R.

Good morning. It's 80 and partly cloudy. The high will be 94 and there's a 30% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

I had a couple of slices of a Pizza Hut pizza for lunch yesterday. I should have left it alone but I love pizza so much. It wasn't long before my reaction to tomatoes reared it's head and I was having to make frequent trips to the throne room for quite a while.  I'm still receiving the occasional complaint this morning. I must learn to leave things with tomato or tomato paste alone. It's not the only food item I have problems with. I've had to avoid things like bananas, cherries, avocados for many years. There are others on that list but they bother me to a lesser degree and I can usually tolerate them.

For those with weak stomachs stop reading now.

Some of those are:
Apricots
Chard
Eggplant
Crimini mushrooms
Halibut
Radishes
Plantains
Artichoke
Acorn squash

The ones that cause me the most trouble:
Tomatoes and tomato products (keeps me on the throne)
*Avocado (bad cramps)
*Bananas (usually results in trip to ER)
*Dates (you don't want to know)
*Cherries (rash, cramps)
Wheat bread (blows my blood sugar through the roof)
Cottage cheese (cramps)
Oatmeal bread (I'd rather not say)
Beets (cramps)

* = Avoid at all costs

The docs have never been able to figure it out.

Ulrich ... I was thinking of a couple of train trips I experienced. One was in my youth when we traveled on Canadian Pacific between Vancouver, BC and Calgary, AB. (Actually, the trip included a connection with the Soo Line at the border with North Dakota.) ...Also, Shelley and I road on the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Calgary about five years ago. That was a great trip. ... The Revelstoke Railway Museum has some neat looking odl railway equipment, and you can see come of it on their website.

Good Afternoon,

wel, I am a little late today, but i hope I have a good excuse. I did a lot of that correction w*rk on THAT module. The upper edge is not straight anymore - turned into a gentle curve, slightly leaning to the left. The right corner is now rounded of a little, which also looks nicer. A few pieces of Styrofoam were cut & fitted and a first coat of paint is applied. The whole affair is now up in the attic, waiting for the paint to dry and the smell to go. Tomorrow I will color the rock fascia once more and start on the waterfall. Yes, I have decided to include the waterfall. It will run from an inch left to the center, down to the bridge and a little more right into some kind of a "pool".  No idea how to actually make the "water", but I will give a few methods I have seen in the Internet a try.

Sorry - no pictures, yet - it still looks a little sad!

Garry - good question! I need to get some input on where to move the diner to. I guess it´ll be me who facilitates the move. May I suggest the BC Forest Discovery Center in Duncan, BC? Lots of logging steam there...

Todd - a sinus infection in summer is bad, I mean BAD. Takes a longer time to go away than in winter time.  I hope your MIL continues to improve!

Kind of missed Bill´s post this morning - I hope is is not too miffed!

My Dad called in today - they now want to move into the place we found for them. I don´t know whether it is still available. The place is very nice, in fact, Petra and I would love to live there. I will call the folks who run the place on Monday to find out. I feel a little relieved - this is the right decision for my parents!

Flo, it is not really warm outside, so I´ll have a mug of hot cocoa and put a handful of marshmallows into the brew, please!

Have a good one!
