Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel w/ cheese and a pot of Dark roast coffee to start the day.

Barry, I didn't know the Jeffrey was a motorcycle rider.....  He's not?  Idunno (Yankee word) just looks like something he would have....Whistling  I sure wouldn't want to have to get THAT thing back up on its wheels if it got dumped over!

Lee and Todd, one thing I don't like about the Black and Decker 24v battery mower is there is no side discharge on it.  The only options are to bag the grass at the back of the mower, or to mulch it.  With the grass so wet, neither option is w*rking well at the moment.  I think I will be raising the deck back up to finish mowing again this time.  If the rain ever stops, I may be able to get it done with the deck back down where I normally keep it.  The lawn is growing faster than I have ever seen it.......  I see that B&D now has a 36v model with a side discharge as well as all the other options.  It has a removable battery pack so if you run out of power, you just put the other pack in and keep going. It is also self propelled. THAT may be my next one.

Today I get to start testing my blood sugar levels....  Oh Joy!  Oh Rapture!

BTW...  Is the hobby dying??? Whistling

Later!

Hi Sir Madog, When i got my bypass in 1997 it was "macro"-invasive. They sawed open my chest and, also, took a 10 inch spaghetti vein from my left leg. Stuck in the "run around" and sewed me up. You can't even see where they sawed my sternum open, and I am doing fine. I had two stents put in in 1999,and am fine. As far as my heart. My big problem is the nerve pain in my right groin that must have been damaged by the angioplasty in 1995. I have bad arthritis in both knees, and January28", I had my right knee replaced, and still can't climb stairs to my garage loft model railroad. Oh well, I pass my time answering model railroader's questions on this forum. Bob Hahn

Good morning. It's 76° and cloudy. The high will be 90° and it will be mostly cloudy and breezy.

I used some of my abundant free time (wish I had abundant money to go with it) to work on two locomotives, one of which you've already seen. That was a major build. The second one was just some cosmetic changes on a GP7 cabless unit. While looking at some photos of a GP60B I saw that the dynamic brake had been moved to the short hood to get it as far as possible from the prime mover. I thought why not, Santa Fe can't have all the fun. This railroad of mine is freelance after all so virtually anything within reason can happen.

Sure are a lot of companies making things for model railroads considering it’s a dying hobby. HmHmm, speaking of that, isn't it about time for another “MRR doomsday" thread?

Morning, all. Sounds like another rough weather day shaping up out in the Plains today. Waht a crazy crazy spring this has been. Wow. We had a storm roll through our area last night - got a few gusts but nothing too bad.

The whole week is supposed to be wet here in central Indiana. Kind of tough on those guys over on the west side of town - they try to have this big race out there about this time every year. In years past, guys had the entire month of May to practice - this year, because of a shortened schedule and bad weather, they had to qualify with just two days of practice, and may not have much time this week to work on their race setups because of the rain. Could make for an interesting time at the Speedway this Sunday afternoon.

No train time again last night. Got sucked into a band rehearsal that went on for three hours. So much for that evening...

Out for now

Good Morning!! Coffee and a Bankroll please. Oops, I meant sweet roll. Thank you.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 81

Showing the house today at 1:30 (1330 for some of you) Hope this is a good sign, it’s somebody who has been through it before earlier. This time their realtor asked ours for all the disclosures and if we knew if the house was haunted or infested with werewolves. I’m sticking with “no” on the last oneWhistling. The first is just too silly to reply.

Lee- glad the twister missed you. Hope all are well on the SW side.

I’m not real big on cards( I add that in case no one has noticed) but if it were me, Lee’s idea just might push me to buy one this time. No, that’s just mean. FUNNY but mean.

Sure are a lot of companies making things for model railroads considering it’s a dying hobby. HmHmm, speaking of that, isn't it about time for another “MRR doomsday" thread?

Today? Gotta w**k. Other’enat (local more efficient word meaning “other than that”) I should join Ray on the lawn, and I just may. I also should see about getting the pressure washer going and get back on the tractor project which I have yet to return to.

Ya see, I’m getting sidetracked here with scanning all the old family photos Mom had so’s my Niece can go through and take what she wants, then my sister, then me. Now I’m not real big on the actual photo itself, so a scanned one is fine by me. My Niece said scan what I want, then she’ll go through them etc. She is to come up this Friday I believe and, of course, I’m running behind. SurpriseImagine that. Me, running behind. In my defense however, there are a ton of photos to go through. A ton.

But first, before the grocery truck gets here, I may just sneak down in the train room. I need an alarm clock so I don’t lose track of time. Or maybe I should scan some more.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good Morning,

Tornado in Cleveland last night on the SW side of town, several people without power. There are trees, lawn furniture, and BBQ grills everywhere.  The drumming sounds of chainsaws hang thick in the morning air.  Glad I live on the NE side of town.

Check this out: http://free-mo.org/ Modular system

Curt you can make a continuity tester with an old flashlight and 2 solid copper wires.

Ulrich, nice bridge!

Attaboy, please refrain from putting the eviction notice in the birthday card, it sounds good at the time, but it would be cruel and….Oh what the heck, go have some fun….

Ray, we have had so much rain here (about .66” every 48 hours) you can see water and grass shoot out the side.  I wear boots and a lifejacket while cutting the grass.

My prayers go out to the people of Joplin, who lost a loved one or a home in the wake of the tornado. I saw pictures of the damage on TV. Not a good year so far.

Joplin MO I am sorry to hear about there plight! You never know with Mother Nature. It is one of the highest death toll I have heard in decades for a tornado. Only one I sort of remember worst was in IND on a Easter Sunday when I was a kid.

Work Front That why I am such a good mood! Today I knocked it out of the Ball Park and bases load! ( Cardinals Bush Stadium, yes I am part of Cardinals Nation )  Would you Believe $4322.96 CakeBowSmile, Wink & Grin Big Smile On a Monday! Plus one of the Mattress was a Kingsdown for a cash spiff of $30.00 to boot! Stick out tongue Yep the door swung my way today! I just might make some $ yet out of this month!

Attaboy Bean, Beer and Cabbage. Or get a Irish Wolfhound! As much as I love the ones I had and have. But when they cut wind OMG, you can all most see the GREEN MIST in the air! Laugh Even I gag and have to leave the room. Dead

Simon 1966 You are the best! Thursday at this point seems like it will work if you can make it over before K-10 opens. Or we could we could go together to K-10.

Ulrich Great looking train and tickled with you like the Portals and the package as a whole. If I did not all ready have all the Portals I need at this point, I would look to see if they came in HO scale. If you like this package, you will be doing the Happy Dances with the next one from me and the Mail Box Helpers here at the dinner! I still think you will need a bigger Desk! Laugh

I all so have a idea that will solve the gaps that are left. I will post the idea later. It is late and my cable was down due the storms. It is 11:31 PM, late for me to be in the dinner.

I wish all of you as good as tomorrow as I had today!

Good Morning Everybody!

Did not catch much sleep last night - I guess I am overworked a little, also a little edgy about my bypass operation coming Thursday. It is not going to be a big thing - micro-invasive, that´s what the docs call it nowadays - but even so ... Makes me nervous. I´ll guess I´ll be out for a few days only.

Janie, coffee and a breakfast bagel, please.

Curt - that´s a Japanese EMU (Electric Multiple Unit), something in between a Light Railway Car and an interurban trolley. It´s got nice detail, even a full interior. I wonder where the motor is Question

Here is a prototype pic:

Ray - just for you, another pic of the museum line.

The loco shown actually is one of the three delivered initially to the line in 1894.

Well, I´ll be out.

Have a good day!

Proto2000 FA frame, motor, shafts. Athearn worms, trucks, Bachmann FT body and some determination to make it all work together.

Evening All,

Not much happening this way. I think I am going to hold off making the shelf under the layout until friday when I get my power busses from the LHS. I would like to mount them vertically if possible to give me easier access for wiring.

Ulrich- Is that a actual RR locomotive or like a trolley? I think European/British locomotives are neat because they are so different from US loco's.

I hope everyone on the board and their families are OK. Prayers to the people of Joplin.

Everyone have a good night.

I went into the junk box today and put together another locomotive. It's an engineering nightmare. Proto2000 frame, motor/flywheels and shafts, Athearn Blomberg trucks, Bachmann FT-A body. I still have to put in the wiring from the trucks to the motor.

I was talking with some friends yesterday and they mentioned a fellow MRRer in the area lost his layout and his 1/2" gauge trains in a divorce due to community property laws. One saind most states are like that. Florida is 16-18.

Louisiana is community property, 50/50.

Afternoon guys

Had the day off, so I slept in for once. I went and added a beacon and correct horn to my RS11. I had 4 packs of details west rotary beacons (RB106). I tried to modify one like Wolfgang did to light it, but I busted the ring. 3 left, took one outside to paint the ring. Once I picked the tape I taped it to, it fell and hit the ground.  2 left, get one right, set it on the bench for lunch and couldn't find it. One the very  last one, I managed to get it installed in the RS11.  Need to buy more and some firecracker antennaes. (RS11 needs one, but not the steam loco bell

Also attempted to start a front range 40' double door box car kit. I looked at all the doors, and then realized that the doors that came were all 6' and 8' (much less all incorrect, but one type was close). But they never fit right. The car has a opening just under 13', so I need a 6' and a 7' door. I'll have to bug accurail about that one, and maybe some dummy couplers.

Attaboy, I was talking with some friends yesterday and they mentioned a fellow MRRer in the area lost his layout and his 1/2" gauge trains in a divorce due to community property laws. One saind most states are like that. Florida is 16-18.

Hi folks,

Just reading the terrible news on the latest tornado to strike... This time Joplin Missouri, terribly sad with the loss of so many innocent people, just heard at least 112 have died. Sad

I hope that all here, their friends and family are safe and well.

Afternoon folks!

Flo just a RBF for the moment.

Found one reason the mower was running so hard.....  I turned it over on its side after it quite a few times this morning.  The whole bottom was clogged with heavy, wet, rotting, moldy grass from the earlier mowings.  Yuck!  It was caked on within a half inch of the spinning blade.  I removed huge globbs of the gunk!  No wonder it couldn't handle the high stuff the other day.  I got through the heaviest part (the bog between my property and a neighbors that has only been mowed completely once this Spring.  Slush, slup, squish, squish.....) after setting the mowing height back down.  I was hoping to get a good chunk more done later today, but it is currently precipitating again out there.  A very heavy dew indeed......  Guess I'll putter around with some inside stuff....  I know! There is a model Railroad down cellar!  YES!

Afternoon all, I just had lunch Flo, but I will wash it down with an RBF please.

For those that have asked or mentioned it, I have already checked with a lawyer about getting the ex out of the house.  Worst case scenario, she will be escorted out and off my property by June 22.  When I explained that to her all she said was "You can't do that on my birthday!".

Packer, there are no community property laws in PA.  The most she could have claimed was any increase in value of the house while we were married.  Since we were married in April 2009 right after the economy started to collapse the house has probably gone down in value.  Mmm, wonder if I could claim she ruined my property value and demand payment?  Whistling  As for your friend at work, she would be safe here in PA.  For statutory rape she has to be under 16 and at least four years younger than you. (was on a jury for a stat rape case one time)  Don't know about Florida.

Todd, her sister's name is Peggy.  Now if she was single.  Well maybe not, it might run in the family.  I'll consider your suggestion.  I work at a grocery store part time and can get lots of beans.

Ray, already have the new locks.  They'll be on the doors before she gets off our street.

Good morning. It's 80 and mostly cloudy. The high will be 89 and mostly cloudy.

Not feeling well today so I won't be doing much. I'll just use the time to get some rest and watch a couple of movies. We have a wind advisory today. Sustained winds of 20-25 mph with gusts to 35.

Morning,

Off to see the GP abouta variety of things this AM.

Saw 2 houses on Sat that are promising. One flat on a slab with an extra room that could be "train room" or the garage could be finished off for a train room, BUT house is ELECTRIC HEAT {Expensive around here!} and on a slab, we DO want to know where the pipes are and if they ever had/have frozen pipes. It was a fairly large house thought the kitchen was huge, LR good sized and the extra room also had laundrya nd H2O heater in it, but... It also is on a HILL {fairly flat lot though at the top of the hill} so MOH wants to know about plowing and early morning leavings for work issues.

The second house I think we nixed. The locotion is on a busy thoroughfare and the house obviously had H2O/roof problems once. Bank owned and winterized in 2010! hasn't sold yet. 2 Br with a damp basement that we weren't sure would make good train room or not. Had a LARGE 3 car garage that was heated! THAT could be a nat gas eater! We liked the newer furnace that was gas, but old oil tank still there and can be an expensive prop to have removed. Also the wellhead in front of front door had sunk in as not used anymore, leaving sidewalk dangerously crooked vertically sunken/heaved. Now has city H2o and sewer apparanely, and don't know of old septic removed and filled in like the law says or not. House sold as is of course. BIG driveway for K turns to go out forward to busy street, but still was a challenge to go L out of with heavy traffic. H2O stains on Kit ceiling where an improper roof valley was done without flashing...think that is the problem, and NO type of Connection for missing stove! Dont know if was gas or electric or what..we have to have something put in for that then. Upsatirs Dining room huge off Kit in which we could put washer/dryer closet for one level living. {by the tiem we get to that we give up trains and such we think.}

I have found that these houses we havve looked at have narrow rickety stairs to basements too, and hard for me to navigate with my cane as my back gives me grief. SO the slab in the first descrioption is looking good now! But could be NIGHTMARE or EXPENSIVE should we have plumbing troubles...IF we can get a plumber who will touch it! A new Kit with built in DW would be nice, too, but running plumbing form where it is could be problmatic. ALSo would put in french or slider to back yard from Dining area as there is no direct acccess to back yard save a side door in extra room. Old people who can't take care of it anymore own it and are selling out as they can't take care and it shows...also need new carpets right away as they have deteriorated AND you can smell their dogs!!!

DUNT know, as Ricky Ricardo would say.

WEll, ahve a great day

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes, real maple syrup, side order of sausage and some dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.

Barry, nice set of wheels there.  Good to see you here.

Ulrich, it is great to see you making some progress with the layout!  Looking good!  I love the photos of the museum as well.

Ken, I'm betting your Digitrax problems turn out to be a loose wire somewhere making intermittent shorts or opens with the circuit.

Attaboy, don't forget to change the locks on all your doors as soon as you get her moved out!!!  Be sure to keep the place locked up even when you are home for a while.

I think I will do something completely different today....  Hmmmmm???  I know I'm going to mow the lawn! Big SmileWhistling  I think I'll use the  mulching thingy though just to be different.

Thought and prayers for all in need!  have a great day!
