Good Morning,

Curt; on the non-DCC friendly turnouts the two rails that form a V need to be cut so there is a gap.  I found this only applies when diverting from one mainline to the other.  Sidings and double ended tracks don’t need any additional modification.  I was #64 on the BMC list when I retired and took a civilian job, part of me wishes that I stayed and made BMC but over all I believe I made the right choice.

Todd; my lawn fate has been sealed.  Yesterday my neighbors on either side of me cut their lawns!  That military retirement check gets spent really fast, especially in my town so a new 40 hour/week job was in order.  They keep raising the taxes and the cost of basic city living expenses every month, pretty soon the only people that will be able to afford living here will be on some sort of financial assistance.

Jeff; I do a full HD back up every year on DVD and I have 2 external drives I do routine back-ups with.  The DVD back-ups go into an ammo can I keep in a safe place. I keep important stuff on a $25 USB HD drive, when I don’t need to accesses it I just turn it off.

After 22+ year in the service you get use to very short hair, I tried to let it grow, but as soon as it touched my ears it was bothering me.

Morning guys,

WEll, I realize seniors can be hazzards when driving, and some should have their license taken away. SOme are just plain "stupid" I guess. One lady, for instance said her husband had alwasy driven and now that shes a widow she has to drive "that big old Lincoln continental" and "has trouble backing out of the garage". Another lady said, "well you can trade it in and get a smaller car". THe Lincoln lady said {very seriously} "Oh, I didn't know I could do that, how do I do that?", !!!! Note: SHe walks among us, she drives, and she VOTES! Others figure they have been driving for 40 years, they know EVERYTHING. Ha Ha, they didn't even know the new NYS Vehicle and Traffic  laws now in effect!!! Note: they walk {or hobble on a cane} among us, they drive, and they VOTE!!! It saves us $$$ on our car insurance so we go every 3 yrs anyway.

WEll 'nuf said. MOH and I will be in that category in future years. WE are just at t teh beginning of AARP acceptance. Of course by then, maybe the cars will drive themselves!

WEll, nothing planned today, really. A day of deserved rest.

Jeffrey- I used to have the long haired thing, but now I cna;t be bothered with the maintenance of it, and when I sweat {which I do at any temp over 70*} It feels like a wet rag on my head if "too long". I like to "wash, comb {quickly} and go" now. can't be bothered brushing or anything. You can have your's long, but I prefer short. Every month we usually get it cut in warmer weather and i let it grow a bit in colder, so I get it done every other month then. Only on WEdnesdays as Cost Cutters has a $9.95 special. I think it is well worth it.

The other day a Jehovah Witness came to the door and the other half was at work, so I answered it. It was, I remind you, BEFORE I had showered and combed it. When I went to shower after she was here I saw it in the mirror sticking up 14 ways to the Sunday she was peddling leaflets on! I hope it made her feel bad kinda {that maybe she woke me}, as we have a "no soliciting" sign on hte door. SHe said when I answered "I saw the 'no soliciting' sign but I'm not selling anything. I am passing out FREE leaflets and inviting people to come join us for a celebration of Our Lord."   DUHHHHH!   "no solicitng" ALSO includes religious regalia!!! In FACT that is one reason we put it up! Those people drop their new recruits off at the trailer park and say "go to it" and "don't come back til you have 3 new recruits!" or something like that. WE are very happy with how we handle our religious values and venues, thank you very much.

mini rant above SoapBox

WEll I should get going and doing nothing nothing. I should run a load of laundry and maybe the dishwasher we are about out of silver wear {stainless steel kind in case somebody thinks they shoudl rob us}.

Good Morning!! Cup of Dark roast please, I'll just hit the Breakfast buffet. Thank you. Did you ever notice just how much stuff they cram in this one car? Wonder just how they do that.

Partly sunny. Highs around 70

Let’s see, today is Thursday, I should burn some scrub. Or to make it legal here in Illinoyz…,yard waste other than grass.Huh?

I see the demise of the hobby and shrinking MR magazine threads are back.

Vincent- Ditto J.R. too. Don’t know if I’d listen to Ken much though, notice the picture in the garage…the tailpipes are in backwards.

Juuuust kidding Ken.Laugh I know, either that’s the way they fit out of the way based on what you were doing, that’s just the way you slid them under or…, you laid them that way so people would see the tips when they stopped by. If it were me, I’d lean toward the lastSmile, Wink & Grin.

Lee- I was victim to the same type of gang type yard assault. But I do have to admit, it was preeetty tall. So tall I had to raise the deck because the mower would just clog every 10 foot. At least it’s even now and looks better. Problem is it’s tall enough I still have to mowGrumpy.

Once I got out of Uncle Sam’s Little Social Club, I had no problem letting my hair return to it’s pre-“within regulations” hair length.

(inhales quickly)Surprise Is that ….a Flapper!?

G- We don’t get Jehovah Witnesses here. (now watch I said that and today we’ll get the first in maybe ten, fifteen years). What we do get are the Kirby salesmen/women and people selling meat out of the back of a truck in July.. Now we have a Kirby, two in fact. One purchased used many year ago (muuuuch cheaper that way. I think I gave $200. Maybe three.) when I was single, and the other given to us by an older friend of ours who Brenda used to clean his house for. Said it just got too heavy for him, and besides, he wouldn’t use it anyway. (Brenda did ask the man’s daughter to be sure a) she knew about it, and b)make sure she didn’t want it or had objections) Shoot we’ve had THAT going on ten years now. No, maybe not quite that long. IT has one of them there auto-matic transy-missions in it tooYes. But I don’t need and definitely don’t want to be part of the Kirby of the month club. They sell it as the last vacuum you’ll ever need to buy. Then, later try and sell you the latest version or just a newer one because it’s better than even the best. Needless to say, they do not get a sell.

I offer to do the black cloth trick after their new cleaner vacuums and if I pick up dirt after theirs….they buy mine for more than they want for theirs because well, it’s obviously better, and then I’ll buy one of theirs. Does it work? Notice earlier how old I said ours are and how long we’ve had them?

Think I’ll head to the train room while the dew dries off the grass.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

 Morning Folks

Flo, muffin and a diet dew please

To Do List Well I had 5 things to do today, wife just added 7 more. Good thing I ran the trains yesterday.

Todd I am not sure what you meant about the exhaust. Mine is the stock set up with stock (Year One) exhaust tips. Your 70 Runner should look the same if it had tips. With the back of the car off, I can see how it may look funny to you.

Got to run, time to get the Town Car's oil changed.

Curt: Compose your post in Notepad or Wordpad then copy and paste it here. I've been doing that for years and haven't lost a post since.

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy. The high will be 81° and mostly cloudy with only a 10% chance of rain.

Not sure about what I'll be doing today. Whatever comes up I suppose. I need to get back to planning the next project on the layout. There's still some roads, trees and foliage that need to be done.

Hey guys

Got off early from work today. I might try putting together my ITC PS5344 kit. The last one was an MNS and didn't work out too well.

JR and Ken, Thanks for the information on what to go for first. Looks like I'll be saving up for a A/C condensor (the ones laying in the garage are from 87-93 5.0 mustangs. Totally different than the 94-95 ones)

JR, It might already be twisted a bit. Last time I put the car on 4 jackstands, and noticed it was only sitting on 3 of them. there was about a 1/4 inch gap on the foruth one. But then I don't think the surface was really level, and I was using 2 different brands of jackstands.

Ken, I don't think it's the timing chain since it was fine down low before I changed the upper intake, injectors, and MAF sensor. Before that it would go lean up high. Before changing all of that, the car was set up for 19 pound injectors, a 65mm throttle body, and the 94-95 (more restrictive) upper intake. Changed it out to 24 pound injectors, a 75mm thottle body, and a 87-93 upper intake (less restrictive). Computer is still set to stock, since when my and my father tried to tune it, the tuning chip let the smoke out.

I actually looked at the timing chain when I had my mis-adventure with the water pump and the broken bolt. I could tell it was replaced recently. As far as rocker arms, everything inside the engine is still stock. AFAIK the stock ones aren't adjustable.

Vincent

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

  Im wunderschönen Monat Mai,

Als alle Knospen sprangen,

Da ist in meinem Herzen,

Die Liebe aufgegangen.

It's OK folks just enjoying the sunny weather outside and THAT popped into my head.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, give me the #2 special today.  Over easy on the eggs, bacon, homefries, and a double order of your sour dough toast.  Then a cup of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug to wash it all down.

Nice day outside, but a bit cool.  Currently 50°F here in the Finger Lakes with a high of only 54° later today.  At least the sun is shining most of time and only a light breeze.

Dermatologist has me on some new creams for a couple Psoriasis Plaques that just haven't responded to what we have been treating it with.  We shall see what happens.  Most of the places I have it have cleared pretty well so I continue with the old stuff on those places.  Between the "over the counter" and Rxs I have 8 different things currently.  Then there is the BP meds, Diabetes med, high triglyceride med, and the cholesterol med...  The AMA in conjunction with the Pharmasutical  Industry for a Drug Free America, I guess.  Only thing I keep remembering is that my Doctor once told me that those who have need for the drugs that take the drugs appear to live longer than those who don't take them!

Driving to Canandagua yesterday I saw an Auction sign in the lawn of one of my dad's best friends house.  Looked like the guy's son (who I haven't seen in 40+ years) was lining up all the old vehicles, tractors, and other things in the lawn for it.  Don't know if the old guy has passed on, or is a Nursing Home or what?  He has an old steel wheeled Fordson tractor I know.  Wish I had room for it here.  Doubt the city fathers would take kindly to me storing it in my front lawn..... LOL

Bets get moving.  Lots of stuff to do today!

Later!

Good Afternoon Folks,

just a short stopover only, as I am not feeling well. Both body and soul go through a period of suffering. My body is shattered by a bad case of bronchitis and I have to watch out that it does not turn into a case of pneumonia (again). My soul is suffering from seeing our neighbor Alison go down so rapidly. She knows that she is dying and that she has only a very short time left. As she has not informed her family in Scotland (she is beyond the point of being able to do that), I am now desperately searching for her relations. She has a brother in Edinburgh, whom we are seeking to contact.

Flo, chamomile tea again for me, please.

Blessings!

 Evening Folks

 Flo Beer

Got depressed today Spent the morning with the wife and when I left the house I had $310.00 in my wallet and got home with $12.00? That needs to last me till the 22nd? Don't think I will have 4 paychecks sitting on my desk this month. I do have a check coming this Friday or Saturday but I don't want to cash it. Guess there will be no beer this week. Grumpy Well, if Flo will let me run a tap here at the dinner maybe. Whistling

Yard Work  Cut down some vines, small tress and got the front and rear yard cut. All so started cleaning up the driveway and porch. Stuffed tree limbs in the back of the Daytona, can't drive it might as well use it as a trash can.

Vincent What it sounds like you have done in installed a high rise intake and a 850 Holley double pumper on a other wise close to stoke engine. I am sure later when the rest of the set up matches it will pull much better. Smaller intake ports increase fuel speed at lower RPM's but leans out at higher RPM's. But you all ready know that. That is why I went with the blower on the Charger. No dead spots at any RPM's. 68 Runner on the other hand with a .628 lift cam is a pig under 3200 RPM's, when it hits 3300 it's Show Time! Cool I just got tied of the 4.10 and 4.38  gears and 5000 stall converter on a street car.

Well time to go and play Test Drive 6.

Evening All,

Flo I would like a nice sloppy cheeseburger please.

Not much going on here. It is really nice outside right now. I am starting to get the antsy feeling when it  has been several days without doing anything on my layout, but I will fix that tomorrow. My partner at work just had a iphone meltdown. Something to be said about using a plain basic cell phone like I do.

Howmus- Sorry you have to work this weekend. The locos in your picture are they in England?

Maybe the manner in which you're posting them. I use the IMG tag line under my photos to post them. I simply left click the tag line where it say 'IMG code' then paste it here.

Yaaaawn!

3.20 am and the night´s already over for me.

Flo, a strong coffee for me please - all that chamomile tea I had recently has ruined my taste buds.

My search for Alison´s relation in Scotland was successful. I found her younger brother and was able to talk to him over the phone. He is an MD specializing in gastroenterology - just what Alison needs! He will be coming over to Germany to be with her tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I will get his flight details in the morning. MAkes me feel much better now.

Curt - have you removed the photo from your photobucket account after you have posted it here? Looks like it to me.

Ulrich- You are correct. After I post the picture I delete it from Photobucket. What I normally do is move a copy of the picture I want from my computer photo alblum to photobucket so it can be posted here. Are  you saying that the issue I am having is because I delete the photos out of my photobucket account?

Evenin' folks!

Just a decaf, Flo.  Thanks!

Curt, the photo itself is not loaded into the forum, just the location of the photo.  The forum is directed to the photo on Photobucket or what ever site is used to house the photo.  So, yes you have to leave the photo in your Photobucket site.  BTW I think you were referring to Barry in your post a while back. he's the one with all the cool old photos not me.....

I spent this evening at 2 Scout meetings.  One after the other at the same house....  The same people running a pack are also starting up a Venture Crew.  The crew is only a few weeks old and now has 8 members.  Exciting to be involved (Commissioner) with a brand new unit here in Geneva.  It is the first Venture Crew in town.  They have some great plans already!

Got a few things done for the layout earlier today.  Been trying to figure out the size of the rafters for the roof on the workshop on the engine house.  After doing some research and contacting my mentor for the NMRA, the rafters will be scale 2" x 10"s.  Now if only I had scale 2 x 10 stock here I could actually make the roof rafters...  It will be in my next order. Grumpy

I'm going to go sit by the stove in the back for a while as it is now 41°F outside with a low of 28°F right before sunrise predicted.

Old habits die hard, will be going to Sam’s club for my once every 3-month grocery shopping.  It’s almost like pulling into port and loading stores. I wonder what I should get for midrats???
