Good Morning all,
I think someone tripped over the power cord last night.
Garry, I would be happy to do layout work for personal freelance layouts or billboards. All they have to do is ask and provide me with a little background and direction for their layout. I didn’t use it on this project but I have the full COREL draw Suite on this computer and I can do some interesting stuff. Not to mention I have catalogs upon catalogs of royalty free images and fonts.
I ordered 14 containers of Woodland Scenics ground cover last week from my neighbor who is a Walther’s dealer. $7/shaker for ground cover or static grass and $8.75 for ballast after sales tax.

***Tim, you aren't kidding about the pranks played. My wife was a firefighter before driving ambulance, medic, etc... and the stories she tells of those days are absolutely hilarious. Pretty creative goup of guys, except my wife who was the lone young woman and slight of build back then.
Going to bring Cold Mountain into the barn tomorrow to better treat her bad eye. Sure hope we can prevent blindness in that eye.
Good night y'all. Rob

Bbbrrrrrr....Good late evening gang!! Since it's late I will just take a fresh cup of decaf please. I will be laying on top of the stove for awhile thawing out. Not sure where my brains went tonight but I took out the snowmobile tonight and went riding with some guys from the firehouse. I was all nice and warm down in the layout room working...wife and daughter over to her moms...just me and the dog. Man was it freezing tonight!!! I don't care how much money I have spent on the latest and greatest snow gear to wear when I go riding...you still will get cold. Of course don't even think of complaining. Anyone that has ever been in a Fire Dept will tell you the "brotherhood" side of it can be very humorous as far as practical jokes and general nut busting goes. Complaining I was cold probably would have got me duct taped to my truck or something to that nature. Heck we had a probie mouth off one day and got some chicken Alpo dog food in his stew. He LOVED it!!!. Anyways...I am back home now...everyone is asleep...and I am relaxing. This morning was NUTS with 40mph+ winds and heavy lake effect snow. Everyone on my street played the "is this your garbage can"?? Stuff was blowing everywhere!!! My daughter had to bowl in a city tournament this morning and bowled a great series...not bad for a 9 year old. I then went up to the Carrier Dome with my brother to watch our beloved Syracuse Orange beat Rutgers in over time. Nothing like college hoops on a cold snowy day. Bring on March Madness!!! We were fortunate to have seats near the bench. It's amazing to here all the swearing from not only the coaches...but the players as well. Some serious smack talking going on that you never can hear or see when it's on TV. All in all a great day and tomorrow should be pretty easy again. I will most likely have the boys over to watch the Daytona while we do a small ops session. I need to run the new yards and make sure everything runs smooth. Good night gang!!...Tim

Sausage & eggs with onion packed hashbrowns, please. Diner seemed temporarily closed earlier, Nice to find it open again tonight.
***Flip, sounds like some terrific (and most convenient) rail fanning there.
***Johnboy, Congrats on the track laying progress. And those "little ladies" sound like some fun entertainment for you folks. No train wrecks?
***Larry, you sound serious allright. Doubt I'll even be ballesting my layout. Wife's was enough work.
***Todd, good luck in court. Sure hope it works out OK.
Here's a link to the latest pics from wife's (HO) layout: http://mods.homestead.com/Trainroom7.html I know there are spots that are not up to snuff, but as long as she's happy with it, I'm not going to beat myself up to get it all right. For us, this is strictly for "fun".
Seems the new simplified (N) track plan is growing on me. I'll post a link to the re-do here: http://mods.homestead.com/RobsLayout.html Going to pick up a can of spray foam next week and try fixing the grade business.
Have a good one y'all. Rob
The message said "Service not vailble for hours and hors. Can't post when that happens.
Flip ... Good to see you. Glad you can do train watching, but wish it pertained to a better situation. Hope you can find more time for this diner.
Der John ... Waht was that remark about parking all about. Also, that container ship must have made a wrong turn.
Lee .... The billboard logos look good. Really like the one for my railroad a lot! Could you round up some MIA's. Bridge Tom, OJ Ed, etc? ... IS "Toddland" included? Johnboy's layout? Brakie's layout? There may be several others.
Where is Jim CG .?..
I'm headed back to AL tomorrow to work on that situation.

Gooooodd Mornnningg Diners, (like Robin Williams in G. M. V-N)
Well I am jealous of your weather again. We had a couple of days around freezing but for the last several it has been very cold again. Yesterday morning coming to work it was -27 with a wind chill to -37c. This morning it is -27 again but at least the wind is down. There was about an inch of snow over night again. It is really getting to be a drag this year. Even with the melt that we did have I still have five foot drifts in the yard.
Well I'm ready for some "breaky" Chloe, how about some potato pancakes with bacon and maple syrup also a tall HC in a SP&S mug this morning. Thanks much.
Well you guys will be proud of me, I finally got back into the storage room and laid down four staging tracks. They come from the main layout through the wall about three feet and then curve to the north and go about another 13 feet. Really has worked out pretty nice. Also in this room with some storage I have set up a small (very small) workshop. A little bench for doing car repairs etc on one side and on the other I have a mini- table saw and a mini belt sander courtesy of (Harbour Freight) from my last visit to Spokane.
Last evening, my wife and I were kid watching a couple of sweet little ladies whose Mom needed a break for a Church Activity where she is a youth leader. Well. guess what ?? They just happened to bring a bunch of LEGO with them and one of those items was a train.--- which started the conversation and we ended up down in the train room with them running trains. Boy were they running trains, I could hardly get them away and back up stairs. The twelve year old wants to come back and help me build stuff. The ten year old was interested but not to the same amount. We had a great time and must do it again.
My sympathies go out to Ulrich in regard to his Mom and the same to Jeff for his Mom and for his ankle as well.
Glad to hear of some favorable progress with some of the other troubles out there. May it continue to a favorable with a pleasant ending for all concerned.
ROB, I am so glad for you that your wife takes such an interest in the railroad. Mine doesn't bother me about it, but really has no interest so it becomes more of a lone pasttime.
Jerry, glad to hear your weather is getting milder and that soon you can get that chair of yours motoring around the neighborhood. Say hi to Sallie and the grandkids.
It was sure good to hear from OJ. Ed recently as well as Bridge Tom and Keith,(Blazzin) we really missed you guys and were wondering why you had fallen from the Forum? Glad you are back, you too Fergie, I had been asking about you for a year it seemed.
Well, I had better make it look like I am working here, So >>>>
May you all have a great week end. and Ken may the sales be over the top.

TMarsh Well, Brenda goes to trial with Chase. Yup, they are now suing her for the balance due, (yes the amount they refused to take back when it was due) plus late fees (figure that one) and attorneys and court costs. Now I have yet to figure out just why this place is doing what they are doing. It is so obvious with the documentation we have that they are cheats. If you set up auto withdrawal with someone and you do not take the money, it is not the customers fault and you can NOT draw late fees. Then if you just refuse to take the money, because you have the right to refuse payment from a delinquent account, based on the rason it went overdue…..you still can’t do it. Words from an attorney. Theory is, you get sick and tired of messing with it and just pay to get them off your back. Brenda won’t back down. I think they are trying to set a precedence. IF they should win this case, and she is not the only one, then Chase, or any other bank, has case law where the customer paid until the final payment, then the bank refused to take the final payment and then just keep refusing to take the money until they build up late fees and interest and attorney’s fees. Shysters!

Todd- I do not know how old her debt to Chase is or what the years on the statute of limitations are in your state, but after 7 years in NY state,{in some states its 10 years} a creditor CANNOT take you to court or sue you for old back balances. UNLESS- you have newly made a promise to, OR paid a partial sum of the requested amount due as then the statute of limitations start over again and they CAN newly sue you.
I have bills I had no choice but to defualt on when i was on SOcial Services awaiting my Disability approval that are now easily over 10 years old and they can send me letters all they want but I don't have to pay and they can not sue me to make me pay. If they start calling me, I simply ask for a supervisor, get their name and the address they operate from and send them a letter telling them to send via USPS only any info regarding any and all debts they claim I may or MAy NOT have accrued with them. Send it return receitpt requested and as soon as you have that green card of receipt in your hot little hands, and they call again, they are in violation {of at least NYS} law.
It sounds like it is too late for Brenda now, but keep this in mind for any future situations that arrise.
Just some advice I learned the hard way.
BTW, I recently got a statement for demand of payment form CHase for an old bill when it was CHase Manhatan Bank, the ironic thing is I now have had a new and current up to date card through them that they apporved for me years ago, but they cannot make me pay the old balance, I suppose they COULD suspend my new credit privileges but I could fight that as they wrote off the old debt years ago. Once written off, any crditor can try to reclaim old written off balances, but they have already written it off and saved on taxes by writing off bad debts, so while allowed, they would technically be in violation of the tax codes for writing off a debt they actually were able to colect on. Another reason they cannot force to pay.
Good luck to you and Brenda.

Good morning. It's 54° and cloudy with heavy fog. The high will be 71° and partly cloudy with a 10% chance of rain. Not much happening today. I may get some layout work done today if I don't have to drag myself around. Yesterday wasn't too bad but the day before, oh man, I had to take a step, lean against a wall and bring my good foot around then take another step. If today's like that then forget it. I'll stay in bed. Last night I assessed my stocks of scenery supplies. I have plenty of lichen (a twelve pack ramen box packed full to bulging with the stuff), about three quarts of green clump foliage, maybe one bottle of WS green recycled blended turf, half a bottle of WS medium gray ballast and a bottle of filtered sand that's been cooked to kill off the wee beasties in it. The sand is used as fill with green turf over top.
Just a brief stop here at the Diner. I am with my father - my mom had to be taken to hospital. We will be going there in a few moments.

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe i'll have the #2 Special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough toast and a cup of dark roast coffee in the FGLK mug. I'll be sitting in the front booth watching the sn*w come down.
When I first got up this morning it was snowing so hard I could barely see the house across the street. It has tapered of a bit for the moment, but still coming down. This is called "Lake Effect" around here. Only supposed to get couple inches today they say. Yesterday we had a high of 57°F. Today the high will be 26°F. Ah....... Febrewery in the Finger Lakes.
Jeffrey.... So down where you live they send people to a Rest Home to get exercise? I suppose you go to a gym to rest???? Anyway, my prayers for your Mom, and you!
Todd, Yes, the Canon is head and shoulders above the others for really top quality printing and for photos the ink will last 300 years without fading if kept properly (or so they say). This one is 4 or 5 years old and worked one minute and then didn't..... I did find that the on/off switch was stuck. I think it burned out something. Probably the self destruct thingy most companies put in the ensure short life... I also have an ancient HP 1220c large format printer I have had for at least 12 years. Still works like a charm (knock on wood). I finished the print job on my Samsung color laser printer in best mode (1200dpi x 1200dpi). Unless you compare side by side, there is little difference. It is also much cheaper to run than the Canon.
The more you guys talk about the banks you have done business with, the more i like my Credit Union!
I better get moving as the Granddaughters will be coming over to see Grandpa for a couple hours while Mom and Dad are getting their taxes done.... I still have to run the vacuum.
Later!

Good morning All,
35F windy and flurries this morning. Back in the shop to continue sorting and pre-packing for the Fla trip.
Barry - I concur with Todd - ouch! Those nail guns are great but they generate a whole slew of ER trips. Had one shoot a nail through a 2x and bounce off the concrete floor almoost hitting my eye. Not fun. By the way sir THAT last shot is not some fooby experimental vehicle, it is Roy Salvadoris' or Ian Burgess' Cooper T-51 Formula 1 car most likely being driven to the circuit by one of the mechanics as they often did in the day.
Back to the trailer and sorting. I'll try to check in later, J.R.
Good Morning!! Coffee and a breakfast pile please. Scrambled on the eggs and sausage. Whole wheat toast thanks. Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Rather chilly today and it looks like we are in for a rollercoaster ride this coming week with the temps running 15-20 degrees difference every other day it seems. Well, Brenda goes to trial with Chase. Shysters! Jim (from Indy)- Yup, they is a pretty good bunch that hangs in here. Please do come back as often as you like. Barry- Ouch! Ray- I’ve had several Canon printers myself and looove the way they print, they just don‘t seem to last but a short time and I don‘t print much at all. Not at all. My last AND my favorite was a pixma 6000 or something like that, and said this would be my last Canon if it quit too soon. After a couple years it did exactly what yours did. One day….nothing. In between I’ve had Lexmark, and it still works, HP and it still works and now for the last couple years I have a Brother. They all work well, (especially this Brother) but I do like that Canon 6000 best even though it had a short life. DerJohn- Isn’t MRRing great? You can take whatever in the world you like and change or bring it back to make your little world just as you like it. Looks like I need to get cracking on my layout name and a logo of sorts. Too late I know, but I should probably have one for the future. Seems to be the excepted norm. Ron- I’m glad you went to the Doc’s. My friend who passed away did not. He tried to doctor himself over the counter with “just a chest cold” until he had to go to the E-room after almost two months . His lungs were completely engorged with infection. Completely. Unfortunately they could do nothing for him by that time, and he passed last Tuesday.

Guys, we’re Macho and cool I know. And most of us do not run to the Doctor every time we sneeze or get the sniffles. BUT, if after 3 or 4 days, if the cold just doesn’t seem to get any better, or “just hangs on”, best go see your Family Quack. It just may buy you some more MRR time. I know I will. Toooo many people are having problems and I'm learning from their misfortune.
Gotta get going This post is getting too long….AGAIN! Everyone who wanted stuff from Mom’s apartment seems to be coming today. That is ok by me. Brenda has gotten (HA! LOVE it! LOVE that word gotten.) rid of most of the things and it’s gonna be a whole lot easier to deal with the stuff left.
Gotta GO! Been peeked at twice!

Love the train/layout pics folks. Keep posting them. As for the car pics, they're getting more rediculous with each new post.
***Ron, congrats on the fence success.
***Tim, happened to just finish running a SP GS4 Daylight (with 10 car set) on my future layout. I say future because none of the track is glued down yet. Was working on wife's layout, not paying attention and after about 10 minutes, the unattended Daylight rammed half it's own cars which had come uncoupled. No damage...whew!
Seriously regret incorporating a grade from one end of my benchwork to the other. Shims, shims and more shims. Had a brainstorm tonight: 1) Spray insulating foam on benchwork (which already has 2" pink foam glued to it), 2) Place cut foam sections for trackage over wet spray foam. 3) Place long 2x4 boards over entire distance and let the spray foam "fill in" the grades. And if the foam gets too aggressive expanding, add bricks on top boards until it dries. Any thoughts?
Glued a few more figures on the wife's (HO) layout. That's it on the MRRing front.
Rob
cudaken Jeffery I got you a new jar of T1349 Blended Turf and plan on sending 1/2 a jar of ballast. I may not be able to get it sent out till next Wednesday. Do you know anything having USPS picking up at home or in this case work? I can weight the box and see how big it is. If you don't mind check and see on line if and how I can get it picked up quicker so I don't forget about it.

Good late night everyone!! Zoe a cup of decaf with a slice of that warm apple pie and a scoop of cinnamon ice cream purty please. Wicked weather we are having here in Syracuse N.Y tonight. We are under high wind warning and heavy lake effect snow by morning with gusts up to 50mph. That will make for white out conditions for sure. And to believe it was over 50 degrees and sunny today. I went grocery shopping in shorts..(funny how that tan from last summer fades ) And now it's in the 20's and falling to zero by morning. Unfortunately a lot of snow melted with that warm air and it made a lot of presents appear that my dog has left the last few months usually in the deep snow for me. I mean good god how much doo doo can a Boxer unload?? At least it's all gone now...poor garbage man. Crappy weather tomorrow morning only means one thing...layout time!! I actually have to get some rolling stock and some power together and boxed up for my clubs annual show next weekend to run on the layouts. Even though I am a die hard NYC guy...I still have a passion for certain passenger trains. I will run my SP GS4 Daylight with a full set of cars and also my NP North Coast Limited as well as my 20th Century Limited. I really grew up in the wrong time period. I also have a few mountain sides that are roughed in with sculptamold/gypsolite mixture and are ready for rock molds and some base color. I just watched a neighbors garbage can go whizzing by my side kitchen window. Man the wind is howling!! I will catch you all tomorrow....Tim
Hey all, Flo coffee please.
It has been a rough couple of days here, all that medicine I have been taking has not helped much and have still been having a hard time breathing. I did get up to the studio on Thursday and got one 2' X 4' module framed out and the plywood down, after that I started thinking about having to align all the modules every time I set it up and so I framed out a 2' X 8' module and it looks good, will just have to build a larger rack for storage but it will set up easier. still being sick it took me about six hours for what should have taken half that time, and it really wiped me out. Then the Wife wonders up to the studio, now she is the one that gave me the funds to start on all this and got my interest back into the hobby that I thought was going to stay boxed up forever. Well she looks at the modules and starts in on how big this is getting, and is worried about how she is supposed to be able to work up there. Now she has seen all my drawings and has known since I bought the first 1" X 3" what I had in mind, and I think I have alleviated some of her fears but I may still have to cut back some on the size.
Today I had planned on mounting some legs on the modules I have done and bolting them together, to show the wife that this is the first half and so she would have a better idea of how big the final footprint would be. But instead I ended up at urgent care to try and get what ever is is that is making it so hard to breath taken care of. Good news is that it is not pneumonia, bad news it is bronchitis, so I have to take breathing treatments and some heavy duty narcotic cough syrup. But I am already starting to feel better and should be able to finish up the modules and have it all set up this weekend and be able to start laying track Monday.
Rob; The horse has been back in the pasture for two days now, so it looks like that fence fix worked this time. I re-tightened about 50' of wire and added a fourth strand on about 100 foot section of the fence, he went over and stood where I thought he was making his escape and pushed his chest up against the new bob wire for about thirty minutes. Then he got *** and started bucking and went racing around the pasture for another hour, after that he has settled back down and seems fine with the fact that he wont be getting out to visit the friend he made about a mile down the road.
Jeff; I am happy to hear that your Mom is doing better and the nursing facility may be better to help her get back on her feet before going home. Now we will be praying for your health to improve. Aho.
Ken; Loved the photos of those "Superbirds" and was glad to hear you had not cut up the original hood to your Charger. I would sell my arm to have my old charger back.
Everyone else You all have a good weekend. Good Night All.

Not much new from me. Retook the algebra test I did bad on today. Dunno how I did. Been a long day for me so I'll be relaxing in the corner booth again.

Work Front Boy I am glad I did not work Wednesday and Thursday, total sale for the 2 days was $85.00. Today started slow but did wind up with $2247.00 in business so I was pretty happy.
House front and a attorney. I have a appointment this coming Thursday to see a Bankruptcies Attorney. While I don't necessarily want to go that way, still need to hear what they have to say as well. One thing the lawyer I spoke to phone did tell me is They can stop a fore-closer as long as there is not a sale date. He all so thought a chapter 13 would be the way to go. That I am not so sure about and I will seeing a different Lawyer Thursday. By the way, I have read some about a Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 and sort of know the differences.
I was all so given a link to Hamp Program. All so called "Making Home Affordable . Gov ". If you leave out the spacing it is a link. I sent them some information and I will see what I get back from them.
Feel a little more empowered now. While I will wait till after I see the Lawyer. Next time I call Bank Of Dumb$1***$2I can say "here's the deal, you either work with me or I will file Chapter 13 and the court will forces you do work with me! I rather give you the money than a Lawyer so which will it be?"
Jeffery I all most forgot, best wishes for your mother as well.
Good evening Diners. Beer and crumpets please Zoe! I'm more pages behind than I'm interested in trying to catch up...so I'll have to apologize for missed birthdays and anniversaries and so on. Did look in the window from time to time, and I'll pick up again with....

Who in the diner is running a free lance layout?
So, here's my first shot
The billboard would, I guess have an advertising slogan - so why not go for the General operating attitude summed up by slogan "Service - An MT promise!"
The era (I'm following Todd's lead here )- is as modern as I can afford. It's an attempt to model (at any rate the container port is) what "could be" IF Sheet Harbour hadn't been ignored by governments, in favour of larger centres for generations. We have no rail service in reality - but we do have the second deepest salt water port in Nova Scotia, and it's one of only 3 ice-free ports in the province; and a scant 50 nautical miles from the Great Circle route NY to Europe! A "hot" traffic year may see 10-12 vessels total! The people who won the contract to run the port about 15 years ago have done little to nothing to promote it, reneging (IMHO) on the conditions of that contract that they would do so; and build dock side facilities to encourage traffic, which they haven't. So, Harbour Grace is trying to suggest a possibility for a small container facility with (yet to be free-lanced) state-of-the-art security and so on. Harbour Grace looks like this, and the whole thing was inspired by this photo of a small container ship I came across some years ago which opened up possibilities for a train-room sized container port.
Rob:
To my surprise, she said her town needs a Ho, and she was not refering to scale.
Jeff: Glad to see you're back, sorry to hear your mother is not much improved - but the rest home may indeed be more comfortable for her, and the exercise will be under supervision rather than what may or may not happen in her own home. How's your father doing? Hope your ankle calms down, and Im glad the Aleve has worked - no chance of getting more? Seeing that empty bed in your vision must have raised questions for you because of its ambivalent nature. I find often it's difficult to see an answer to prayer when it's given because of the pre-suppositions (conditions?) I've brought to the situation. I've updated our churches' prayer line with your news. There's a bunch of folks pulling for you guys.
Barry: has to be the oddest thing you've posted yet - any explanations? Nail to the foot! Ahhhgh! Hope it doesn't get infected and heals up quickly.
Look where Garry parked!
Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers continuing for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.
