Well I found out today that my mother won't be coming home. Not soon at least. She's been admitted to a rest home so she can get some exercise. She wasn't getting any at the hospital and she won't get any at home because she'll just lay on the couch and not move unless she has to. I already had a pretty good idea she wasn't coming home when the hospital said because I kept seeing an empty bed in my visions.

According to the hospital my mother will be coming home tomorrow
It didn't show me anything else about her though except that she was no longer in the hospital. That's what I mean about getting answers I wasn't seeking. I got an answer but it didn't tell me everything. I went over to my parents place and fed their dogs. I'm pumped up on Aleve so I'm not feeling much pain. Problem is I don't have any more to take tomorrow.

Silly cars?

Bring 'em on!

Thanks everybody for comments on the photo.

Todd, I do have some creative ideas for scenery near the scrap yard for areas that are now just ground cover. I'll have fun with the ideas when I get back to layout work.

Happy Model Railroading!

Afternoon folks!

Flo just a cup of hot cocoa for me.

Yep, temp is on its way back down below freezing where it will stay for a while.  Febrewery thaw is over for the moment.  Rob, I am English,German, Irish, Scotch, and Bourbon I believe....  (Used to tell my 8th. graders that when we would start the units on ethnic music... Wonder I didn't get fired.Whistling)  Descended from a long line my Father gave my Mother!

Barry......  Barry...... Barry!  Some people will do almost anything to find more time in the trainroom now won't they!  Sounds quite.... un-nice.  Hope it heals up quickly.

I was out of the large Black ink cartridge for my Canon Pixma photo printer which I was using to print the newsletter copies that need to be mailed.  That is the best printer I have of the 3 for photos....  Went out and did some errands including buying a 2 pack of Black ink for the printer.  Came home, changed the cartridge and tried to print.  Dead!  Completely DEAD!  All I can figure out is that the push button for on/off was stuck making contact and it burned out.....  So!  I have ordered a new one that is the equivalent.  And as expected, none of the new models use the same ink cartriges...... If any of you use a canon printer that uses the #8 and #5 cartridges, give me a holler.

Later!

Well..Good Afternoon...

I had a wonderful afternoon at the hospital...I was using a nailgun on some wood and did accidently launch a nail into my foot..I was wearing sneakers at the time..guess what happened then...

So now I am walking around with a big huge bandage thing around my foot and have to ice the thing every so often as well...and so I'll have some time off this weekend to settle the foot down....Bang Head

I'll have a coffee and a slice of chocolate cream pie please...I'm going to the corner booth so I can sit and mope... AshamedBlack Eye

Strong coffee in a  Burlington Northern  mug, please. This overcast day here reminds me of WA weather where BN roamed the tracks.

***Garry, that is one beautifully detailed scene. Truly excellent work. Also like the contrast between the passenger train and old scrap cars. Well done!Yes

Jeff- I keep thinking of the picture of the Charcot foot you linked to. That just looks.......the word painful isn't strong enough. I don't know how you do it hoss.

The mess in that picture is mild compared to mine. I just have to grin and bear it and try not to snap the head off of the person who says 'It can't hurt that much'. The heck it can't!

Good Evening Gang!

As I came home past 11 pm yesterday, it was a sort of sluggish day for me today - all sleepy! I only managed to get out the order for some more track and that power pack I need to get the first train running. I hope it does not take ages for the stuff to arrive - I am eager to see my little Mike performing on her maiden voyage.

Flo, mug of hot chocolate please, nuttin´ to eat.

Jeff - I am just glad you found some answers. This may be way more than most of us can say. I am still searching to find new roots or a place for my soul to rest.

Robby - still pulling for you!

Garry - GREAT picture!

Barry - I sometimes wonder where you find all these oddities...

I nearly forgot to tell you - my "End of the line at Cimarron" HOn3 plan made it into Carl Arendt´s Small Layout Scrapbook! I am a little proud of having one of my plans published Smile, Wink & Grin

If you like, take a look here

Have fun!

 Lunch time.

Last night wasn't a bad night, just fighting a headache right now.    I just checked my email and that Home Depot will call me to set up a interview.   The Wal-Mart job is 3.5 miles away but the Home Depot job is about 25 miles.   I think I would like the "HD" job more.

Not much planned today.  Get rid of this headache, and take it easy.

Howdy all. I was too sick to go into work today, but not sick enough to just lie around the house idle in front of the tv all day. So, thought I'd make a rare drop-in at the diner.

I read back a few pages and you know, there's some pretty good Joes hanging out here. Might have to come back a little more often (espcially when I can have some of this fine food without having to rush off to the restroom afterward... Grumpy)

Mornin'......

Coffee.....  need coffee, zoe!  Lots of dark roast coffee.....  Please!  Oh bring over a breakfast bagel w/ cheese as well, but first bring me coffee!

Turned off the computer around 1AM this morning.  Printing up the copies of our new Division Newsletter to be sent out to those who don't have email.....  I should say, for whom we don't have an email address......  I will be sending out a request along with the newsletter asking for them to give me their email so we can save the expense of printing and mailing.  I'm doing this on 28lb. paper in photo mode on the Canon printer.  Looks nice!

Once again I have several errands to run today.  I also need to get together with my sister sometime before she leaves for a trip to Mexico soon.  So most of today will be shot for anything similar to modeling.Grumpy

Jeffrey, glad you are back from your quest, and glad you found some answers.  You continue to be in my prayers during this troubling time.  Hope the charcot eases up soon and you can be feeling a bit better.

Barry, I do like THAT.....  Ah....  Vehicle.

Hope you all have a geat day!

.... After two days on a vision quest I'm tired but well at ease. I found answers to many of my questions but not all the ones I wanted. Today I'll be getting some rest.

I have an understanding of the native American vision quest.

And much like our Christian questioning/prayers, we, too, may find answers to our questions and prayers, but not always the ones we wanted or sought.

And perhaps, therein lies the insight we need, though we may not readily see it.

With my best wishes, May you come to see.

Garry- I really like the scene. It looks......, well, natural. Very nice. If it were me though, and this is purely a suggestion, I would put a few, not very many, maybe two or three total at the most, but a few trees close to say one near the office and maybe one by the, what look slike a repurposed train car on the back. But that's just a thought. There are many places just like what you've done and it carries well with the backdrop. But it's still great just the way it is.

Jeff- I keep thinking of the picture of the Charcot foot you linked to. That just looks.......the word painful isn't strong enough. I don't know how you do it hoss.

EDIT: Aaaaand what does Barry post as I was suggesting trees? No trees..Laugh Laugh

Barry ... When will we see a 1/87 replica of that vehicle in the Walthers catalog?

Jeff ... I'm sad you must endure so much pain. Hope your Mom is OK.

Hector ... Good to see you. Please visit the diner often.

I put this photo in Weekend Photo Fun WPF. I have more creative ideas, but no time for the layout in past two weeks.

Good morning. It's 62° and cloudy. The high should be 74° and it will be mostly cloudy.

I'm hoping to get started on some more layout work soon. Just waiting on some ballast and ground foam. However nearly anything is welcome. Not much planned for today other than staying off my feet. The Charcot condition is still flared up. It softens the bones somewhat and that makes for some intense pain when I put my weight on them

Jeff- Glad your Mothers coming home. I hope that means she is doing well.

It just means there's nothing more they can do for her at this time and she's better off at home.

As a native Mexican Indian of the Acatec tribe , I can tell you we have something similar to the American Indians Quest, but it consists of imbibing large quantities of the drink tequila.

Fortunately mine doesn't require anything like that. If it did I wouldn't have been able to send our young Mr Parks on a quest of his own at the age of twelve (2005). His was a short one and was part of his rite of passage to manhood. Ever since he's been an absolute nut about anything concerning Native American spiritual traditions. He's not of Native American descent but that didn't stop me from giving him his Indian name when he completed the rite of passage just as was done with me by my grandfather in 1972.

Good Morning!! Bagel with that strawberry flavored cream cheesey spread stuff please. Oh yes and coffee. Thanks.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Jeff- Glad your Mothers coming home. I hope that means she is doing well.

Yesterday morning, Ya’ll sittin down? Yesterday morning I went downstairs and started on my bridge. Yup, got one support put together. What I’m creating is my version of this

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/255-75530

I am using two deck girders I had from previous layout but no through girder. The center section will not be centered because the track it goes over is at an angle and with the way the opening in the bench work etc well, you know the deal. I have to have that type of supports due to the span, track arrangement and because there isn’t room for a pier......Indifferent Well I suppose there may be now that I think of it.Hmm I could make a concrete one out of a witch. I mean wood. (they both float) Hmmmmm I have an ideaMischief. Anyway, I think I’ll maybe, (here we go again) show some pictures of my progress since I once again figured out how to take a picture without a flash.

I also want a bridge on the south end. My Pratt Truss I have. I can come up with a good reason to have one and I think it would make for a nice scene. But it’s on the downslope of my grade to return to the main level. Have to think about that.

Well, best get movin. I have the trucks to deal with, work at 5, and my friends funeral is at 1pm today with visitation at 11. The burial will be up on the hill. Then I need to visit my other friend who has been in the hospital for a month. The stints he got weren’t the problem but the Gall Bladder was....is. They had him shot so full of dye and everything trying to figure out what was wrong with him when he went in to emergency after the second time, his liver shut down, his pancreas quit, and his kidneys shut down. All from tests trying to find something wrong that wasn't because they just didn’t think it was the Gall Bladder. The sonagram (sp)said it was, (or something like that) but the docs thought it had something to do with the surgery and stints or some such nonsense. Intense abdominal pain on the right side about the bottom of the ribcage. THAT is what he went to the hospital for the very first time when they said “gee, we think you could use a stint or two”. Anyway he’s pretty messed up right now but at home. He goes to dialysis two or three times a week, but his liver and pancreas are working now. Just has drain tubes hanging out all over the place. The docs now say it’s probably his Gall Bladder after all, but because of the thinners he’s on for the stint, they can’t remove it. Maybe they’ll look at taking it out in March. Isn’t that insane?

Good Morning All,

A regular to go please. It's in the thirties already this morning. Headed out to the trailers to try to get all that sorted today. Usually by the end of winter, all the spares boxes have been rifled through and it all looks like Fergies (MESS).

Did get some more cleaning done and the second half of the trainroom floor done last night. It is of course now two different shades so the first half will need a second coat to look even similar. Just another visit from Murphy.  Here's my coffee and times a'wastin so CUL, J.R.

Good Morning,

Jeff good to have you back and good to hear your mom might be coming home soon.

Spent a couple hours last night doing graphic layout work; the LS&W, WT, and Heartland panels are done.  I started on 6 others but don’t have the polish on them yet.  I spent an additional hour reviewing historic RR advertisements for inspiration.  I found the M.E.S.S. and PC’s Autumn Rail and Navigation panel but waiting for their permission to use them.  Ulrich, I have an idea and will be sending you an email soon…

I’m glad to hear people still rely on their ancestors traditions in times of trouble. I’m of German-Scottish-Irish heritage and I seem to be drawn to the dart board at the local pub in times of doubt, maybe I can learn something from Jeff’s example…
