What is on your Christmas list?
Posted by Eric97123 on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 12:04 PM

With the holiday shopping season just around the corner, wondering what MRR items are on everyone's holiday wish list.  I have a decent size list of loco's, rolling stock and buildings/industry kits and told my wife to pick a few to suprise me.  It will be interesting to see how she does this year since last year she got my first trainset that got the MRR ball rolling with me.

at the moment -- not a thing.  It's far too early to be thinking of Christmas for me (it's not even Thanksgiving!)

Will probably put a lot of kits on the list, not much in the way of locos or anything though.  My _personal_ wish list is far too long to limit to Christmas Smile

I would have to say the N scale Cab Forward that came out earlier this year.  Nevermind my layout is probably a bit too small for it, that engine has just fascinated me since I first saw it at the California State Railroad Museum.  We'll see if it comes my way this Christmas....

Ill go with the one thing I need most. TIME. 22 hours of homework a day has caused negative progress on my layout over the past four months.Laugh

For moi, with a job for a short time, maybe longer, I'd like to finally nab a Rapido Turbotrain, maybe see if I can't get a jump on an HO James Whitcomb RIley and a Kato SD90 or maybe two so I can represent the INRD 9000s, or see if I can't hunt down PRR 8589 and finish out the pair. A Dmeonstrator Genset would be nice, but they don't have one.

Parts and supplies. I don't really need any more locos but I do need turnouts and other items to get all the trackwork finished.

I really don't have much of a holiday list. Truth be told, I have too much stuff already. I have more locos & rolling stock than my modest little layout can hold with a healthy backlog of undecorated kits, and a box full of unstarted building kits. So my glamorous wish list is:

2-56 screws (can you ever have enough of those useful little fellows?)

Extra wheelsets

A few extra trucks

A Kadee coupler height gauge

More Kadee couplers. I'm always scavenging for those darned things!

Some Yellow Box RS3's and GP7's.And Spectrum steamers. Yeah, I know. I already have enough, but I just can't help myself!

But what say we get through Thanksgiving first, okay?

Christmas shopping for us is done already.

I made a list, checked it twice, sent it off to the other half in an email with links to the particular items I wanted so there would be no misunderstandings. I sent a list of far more items than I knew Santa would bring me, so there was room for variety.

Among the items:

A couple of Bachmann DCC OnBoard diesels, a Mike, some gondolas, some hoppers, a few other cars besides box cars {though I included a few box cars-most of my rolling stock is boxcars so I wanted something different}, and a few other detail/scenery items.

I know I got some because it went on my CC, but what I got  I do not know yet. ALso, we went to exchange something my other half thought I might like that wasn't what it was thought to be so I know I think I got two more RRcars I pointed out at wholesaletrains.com's hobby store when we went to do the exchange. I also got some new clothes that were requested in my size.

SInce the other half is into N scale trains as well I got a GG1 as it was mentioned in March so I quick like a bunny ordered it before Kato was out of them, and got some freight cars to go with it and some passenger cars from a forum member who was kind enough to send along PRR passenger cars to go with teh GG1. I had to order some new truck/couplers to convert the pasengers to knuckles that I am waiting for, though, then I have to try to hide that I am changing them over before xmas.I got the othee half some other things besides trains as well.

The only thing left for xmas is to get a new and larger 3/4" board for the under-the-table-top-tree-layout so that we can run 18R" HO instead of 15R", and run 12.5R" Nscale curves instead of 9.75R" or 11.5R". It will have to be painted white as other half INSISTS it MUST be a "winter wonderland" under the tree. I am not so fond of trying to play with gluing  various forms of "snow" and should have bought some model "snow" I saw at the Syracuse train show when I saw it instead of thinking I would remember to buy it on the way out Bang Head. Will also this year drive in some nails and use florists wire to creat a "fence" so that IDEALLY when the stupid cat gets up there to see the pretty sparkly things on the tree up close that he won't knock the trains off  Bang Head

So all in all, will be a good xmas....now to just pay off the bills....

Well,

Given that my local LHS is called 'Christmas Every Day', my next Christmas (Every Day) list is as follows:

Atlas Code 80 N scale railjoiners - perfect for Code 70 HOn3 track
A sheet of clapboard siding
3mm sheet styrene
Sheet of phospor-bronze material - for pickup wires on the C-25

As for my actual Christmas wish list, nothing model-railroading related.  I have a policy of 'no model railroading presents', mainly because relatives, friends etc. don't really know what fits into my era or goals.  Wouldn't mind a copy of that new Goldeneye game for the Wii, though...

I need a job.  I will be graduating from college with a Bachelor's Degree in Management/Human Resources (finally) on December 11 so I will start looking for somewhere to apply my knowledge.

I don't have much train related that I want for Christmas other than a place for a layout, but that ain't gonna happen for a while.

I've got enough rolling stock and locos, wait, what am I saying, I can NEVER have enough rolling stock and locos! Big Smile

The wishes are many, the means to fulfill very limited!

I´d like to start on my layout this winter, and I need to stock up on track and switches. On my "Me Wants"-list, there are the following items

Blackstone D&RGW C-19

Blackstone combine

Blackstone caboose

Blackstone box cars

Blackstone gondolas

Detail West switch stands

DCC system

The above is good to fill my list for the next 10 Christmases!

Well, I ordered one of the new Digitrax Zephyr-Extra DCC sets for my Thanksgiving present.  As far as Christmas goes, who knows, maybe a real expensive HO brass logging locomotive.  Cool

Hi!

Thank you for properly identifying THE Holiday as Christmas!

This is my 66th Christmas, and the first one that I honestly don't have any model train stuff on "my list".  The under construction HO layout will have the trackwork/wiring done in a couple weeks, and I've got all the locos and rolling stock and structures I want - not to mention all the scenic stuff I stocked up with years ago.

There is one RR related item I would like to have, that being the DVD of "The Train", the WWII movie of the French artworks being hidden on a train avoiding the Germans and capture.  It is supposed to be one of the top RR films of all times, and that's enough for me.

ENJOY  !

SPACE!!  My 8x15 HO layout is sitting back at moms half finished and I don't know what to do with it since I've moved in with my new girlfriend and she has ZERO space for even a diarama.Sigh

At least I've moved, landed a good job and found a hot girlfriend that also enjoys trains. I guess Santa has already brought me more than I deserve.Big Smile

PS...I have some great LHS's near me now too!!!Thumbs Up

Other than a more lucrative part time job to pay for all this I'd like the new Bachmann 3 truck climax and a DCC system.

I'm with IVRW.  Time is what I need the most.  Fortunately, since my company shuts down for the Christmas->New Years week, I get just that.

I've been a wise and frugal MR shopper all year.  I buy stuff I need when it's on sale, before I really need it and have to buy it full-price.  When I see something rare, I buy it.  As a result, I've got a big section of pink-foam layout in the train room and shelves of unbuilt kits in the basement.  It's time to turn some more of that inventory into models.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Listen, Dude! I'm not giving up my winning $300M plus Powerball ticket for you or anyone else. And if you have an argument with that we'll settle it on a field of honor one hour after daybreak tomorrow. Are you amenable to waterpistols at thirty inches?
