This is MY list in order of importance

3 Unit Gas Turbine (sound & DCC) Overland models Turbines are awesome but we need a economicl one for everyone to enjoy.

Tunnel Motors/F45 FP45. Athearn you have a great starting point with these models all you need is to bring them up to todays standards much like the SD40-2's of a few years back.

Alco Century C630, C636 - If someone can make a RS27 there is NO excuse why a better century can't be made.

Baldwin Center cabs. Not a big fan but some cool paint schemes could be applied. Pretty sells product.

Yellowstones -DM&IR / NP Articulated Steam- Awesome BaBY!!!!

I'm sure there is more. Please feel free to share your thoughts on what you would like to see made. But don't bring up the "T" tooling word if you don't plan to defend it. This post is not about the economics of making a model but what you would enjoy as a Model Railroader.

Red caboose needs to make a ROCK ISLAND coil steel car - in "The Rock" black and blue.

We also need a good plastic RI caboose in use before the 60's !

All of our wants and wish list should be emailed to BLI in the case of steam and the diesels should be sent to Kato, Atlas and Athearn for consideration. I have been doing this for some time and have to believe they do respond to general requests if the model fits a need and will make money for them.

I would like to see some of the Illinois Central 2500, 2600 and 2700 class locomotives built. They all used the same boiler size and looked much alike in many ways, but the 2500 and 2600 were 4-8-2's and the 2700 or 2800 class were 2-10-2's.

I wasn't thinking cars when I started the post, but now that you metioned it a standard 89' bi/tri level autorack ( more detailed than Walther's) would be a welcomed by many modelers.

tunnel motors is all i need now i mean heck i got AC4400CW,8-40C's,SD60's,SD70's,and the enginesthat have been announced AC6000CW,U28/30B's,8-40CW,GP38's,SD38-2's..i mean if your amodern modeler like
me, we pretty much got it all!! i do want an SD40/45T-2 and i would be the happiest modeler in the world!

I'll second the need for IC steam. For being one of the largest steam-era railroads around, they've been sadly neglected by the modeling industry.

We could also use a nice, pre-USRA mikado. Something like a NYC H-5.

And how about, in plastic, modernized small steam, like a non-USRA 0-6-0, 4-4-0, 4-4-2, 4-6-0, and some smaller 2-8-0s?

And more steam-era cabooses!

A Baldwin Russian Decapod, like Frisco #1630.

Also North Shore Line interurban cars.

Pre-Streamlined commuter cars, such as S.P. Harriman coaches, Lackawanna Boonton Branch cars, Erie Stillwells, and Rock Island "roach coaches".

SDP45,SD45-2,C636.A readily available quality GP35.I would like to see more of the unique models built.I would like to see proto do the GP35 and SDP45 in Erie Lackawanna.I like thier SD45 better than the Kato model.Dan

For steam, a good 4-4-0 is overdue (make mine CRI&P)

For diesel, a high quality (KATO) SD40-2 in RI.

More E-units at reasonable prices. A Proto 1k E3 would be very good. I know BLI have this loco on their future plans list, but I can't afford their locos - I don't need sound and I'll settle for the same level of detail as the latest Proto 1k Alco RS locos - I enjoy adding extra detailing! The same chassis could also make an E4, E5, EA, E1 and E2 (though I'll admit these would have fewer sales due to being dedicated to certain roadnames).

2. An SW or SW-1, and not the Model Power one. Proto 2000 or Genesis making these would satisfy me.

3. A CB&Q O-1A Mikado. Another smaller engine that would be perfect on way-freights and switching jobs.

4. A CB&Q M-4 "Colorado" 2-10-4. This would be AWSOME!!!!

Modern intermodal flats and spines. Intermodal makes up 50% of rail traffic. I doubt if it makes up .01% of models produced.

Bachmann Spectrum has had the Russian Decapod out for well over two years now. It's a great model, and even comes decorated for the Frisco!

Stillwell coaches are available in resin from F&C, and as a car core kit from ECW.

BLI is coming out with an SW this fall, sound equipped. They'll have proof models at the NMRA convention.

I'll second that. There are no spine cars currently available in HO - Walthers made some superb frontrunners and articulated spine cars but these are currently discontinued. Let's see a return of these two models at least - the articulated spine car kit was very reasonably priced and made up into a good-looking model. The frontrunner was also superb, if a little fragile - I would suggest wire grab irons/footsteps in the event of it being reintroduced as I've had to repair mine several times, despite being very careful when handling it!

For myself, I would like to see a nicely rendered PRR 2-10-0. Of course, this is a selfish request, but I think it would sell quite well. There were almost 600 of the real ones, and there are plenty of PRR modelers out there holding their breath (and their cash) waiting for one.

I want to see a high qaulity F40PH, in both HO and N. I know N scalers have been wanting one for years. Maybe Lifelike could use the old tooling and make one in the P2K line

C636!!!

I've spoken with Stewart in regards to making this in the past, but they say new tooling would be required, and that it could not be based on the C628/C630 production. This would be a great Atlas release, as a lot of us would run them with our 4-axle ALCo and Big GE products from Atlas. Please do both BN and SP&S!

My wish list (HO scale) - no brass or unobtanium alloy models, please (I want to stay married and hang onto my basement!)

Baldwin Shark A & Bs in plastic (only ones available are from ER Models - ex Model Power units - good, but require lots of weathering next to Proto 2K diesels, or they no longer 'measure-up' detail wise. Also, the trucks are wrong, for they belong under an Alco. Mantua/Tycos were a cartoon caricature of the prototype, and are pure junk) If they were done by Proto 1K or 2K they would be perfect.

L&N steam, esp the 2-8-0s, 2-8-2s, 4-6-2s, and 4-8-2s.

Southern 2-8-0s, 2-8-2s, and 4-6-2s.

L&N freight cars from the 1950-1955 era. Hardly any equipment is available even lettered for these, and not necessarily correct, either. Accurail would be my choice fro these.

NC&StL freight cars (ditto above L&N comment).

L&N caboose - wood sided in plastic (resin is still available from Michael George I think)

Southern cabooses-both bay window and regular, esp wood sided, ones.

NC&StL 4-8-4 "Yellow Jackets" - can't afford Overland's $1500. yikes! price tag

generic heavyweight passenger equipment w/ modular window/door sides that could be kitbashed into something at least close to one's chosen roadname.

more MOW equipment in affordable plastic.

Craftsman bungalow residences similar to a couple of the recent Atlas releases, which are okay, but still not correct. These were built in 1900-1930 and still populate many residential, and now also commercial, neighborhoods close to RR tracks and depots all over the USA. They'd be perfect in plastic or resin.

Generic L&N depots - perhaps modular, so one kit could make various depots that all share common architectural elements.

There's a conspicuous lack of smaller SP and NYC steam engines (and although I don't model either at the moment, there's probably a lot of interest in both).

And for my last and truly never to be ever produced in plastic hopeful - a Little River RR (std. gauge) 2-4-4-2 used in Tenn. logging operations. Was made briefly by Oriental quite awhile ago, when their prices were lower than BLIs are today !
